CakeBoi - blue Blue Velvet - Custom Cakes Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

The cakes are ok , when I purchase the cake it was falling apart. I think cake man raven or piece of velvet tasted better

I don't even really leave reviews like that but this cake was so delicious I had to. I had the funfetti, my friend got the butter crunch I think. Both were really really good. Cake wasn't too dense and wasn't dry. The icing was good also. Will definitely be back! read more

Celeste was so generous when I contacted her about making a cake for this past weekend. When I went to the shop she was very professional towards myself and customers coming in. The day I picked up my cake I met 2 other staff members there who were so nice. This place is a breath of fresh air to our community and I am happy for the future of this business. read more

The cake was subpar and my Service was the worst was treated very poorly. I try my best to support black own businesses but this is no place for black people to shop. I can't speak on the owner just the employee. He needs to tighten up on his staff. Very bad experience overall read more

I am a great fan of CakeBoi from the day they opened. The service is great as well as the cake or cupcakes. It's the best cake in all five New York. Please check it out all my cakes come from them. Thank you read more

Upon a last minute request, I purchased a dozen of red velvet cupcakes. They warm and fuzzy cupcakes are an absolute decadent delight for senses. Perfectly and flavorfully balanced with cream cheese to sweeten the palate. My cupcakes were freshly baked out the oven. Everyone in the store accommodated my needs, including the owner. He wasn't too busy to tend to my questions. I recommend cakeboi! read more

Hands down, best cake in NYC!!! I felt bad eating a cookie with Biggie's face on it. Said sorry each time I took a bite. But love the concept and their other cookies are delicious too. read more

Christmas Eve, on a random drive-by, my friend and I saw Cakeboi and stopped in for dessert. Boy we're we pleased!!! A nice selection of fresh cake slices! We had carrot cake, red velvet, and pineapple coconut...all absolutely delicious!!! The ladies were just as sweet as the cake icing! We will definitely be returning for more sweet tooth satisfaction! read more

Disappointing. My sis and I went looking for dessert after lunch. We usually go to DOCD on Bainbridge. The shop itself looks lovely. I appreciate the seating but without offering coffee or tea it kinda falls flat. I ordered a slice of red velvet and my sister got chocolate and butter crunch. We tried each others cakes and found them to taste exactly the same despite being different flavors. That was weird. The cakes were also super dry to us. We'll stick with DOC'D. read more

Do not sleep on this cake shoooop!!! Great customer service and delicious cakes that are so good you tell your trainer and don't even feel bad!! read more

AMAZING!! Stopped by here after an aggravating day at work. Ordered the funfetti cake. Literally the best cake I've ever tasted from a local cake shop. read more

If you're looking for a custom cake, this isn't the place to go. I ordered a piano cake (for my boyfriend who's a musician), and what I received I could not even display. It was a $405 cake that looked like it shouldn't have been more than $5. It was 100% a rushed job, although I gave them 2 1/2 weeks notice. My original pick up time went from 12pm noon to 9pm! And even at 9pm, he still was not finished! It was just a very poor job on design, the fondant was falling off the cake, the decorations looked like the work of 5 year olds given play doh. I couldn't even display it at the event. I thought the taste of the cake would make up for the poor design-that was a lie. The chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream frosting tasted more like dried out and stale cornbread. I couldn't even taste chocolate. They even had the wrong age on the cake! My boyfriend turned 27, and the cake had a huge 24 on there! I just ended up buying a cake from shop rite to display at the last minute. I do believe that the baker did not make my cake, but I believe it was a last minute job and the responsibility was pawned off on someone else. I felt hurt, disappointed and extremely let down as this cake was supposed to be the highlight of the event. Luckily, I was able to receive a full refund-after he tried to only give me back my $50 deposit and another cake. There's no way i'd want another cake. If you're craving a slice of cake, the red velvet slice is pretty good. But don't waste your time ordering a custom cake-you'll more than likely be very disappointed. read more

INCREDIBLE! Amazing rich fudgey brownies and banana pudding. And the people who work there are so nice!

I visited this cake shop looking for a wedding cake. I noticed how beautifully they were decorated on their website and decided to go have a slice. The cakes were beautifully displayed in the showcase but the flavors were not labeled on the display. By the time the woman gave me the rundown she was out of breath. I decided on the carrot. At $6 dollar the slice was decent. I was able share it. The flavor of this cake was not good. The carrots were dried carrots not freshly grated, no raisins and the cake did not bake well. It did not rise and was doughy in the middle. The frosting was okay but nuts weren't fresh. Overall I was disappointed in the flavor and taste. The other reviews state the flavors may be better I don't know if I'll be back to find out. read more

I like the professionalism of the mature woman who was there . So I stopped here because my sweet tooth was acting up. I purchased a piece of lemon strawberry cake. I didn't know what to expect but I was hoping that whatever it was it would go good with the coffee I had purchased. My first bite into this semi dry cake was okay I took a second bike and I was happy with it as well upon the second bite I had to sip some coffee just to moisten it up a little bit. I then took a third bite and I took another sip of coffee. I got tired of the middle section so I try the outer section where the icing was the icing was very flavorful creamy almost like how my grandma made homemade icing. I did not eat it all because my sweet tooth was satisfied.s o what us seen in the pic is whats left. I gave the remaining piece to a homeless man who seems to make the corner of Malcolm X and Fulton Street his hangout spot. He was appreciative for it before even eating it. I bought him a cup of coffee and a Mountain Dew soda and the rest is history. I think the next time around I will try the carrot cake. The entire experience is grated with a 3-star. read more

I like this place a lot. First of all, cakes are moist and decent size, guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth. I also love the cookies. I have tried pineapple coconut and strawberry blonde cakes before and both were really delicious. read more

So today was my first time having a slice from this bakery, I had the strawberry lemon cake with lemon icing.let me start off by saying the icing was very yellow( but I figured it must be the lemon) the icing was nasty it taste like paste. Then when I taste the cake I immediately spit it out, it is so heavy, and it taste like cornbread!!!! Yuck!!!! This slice was $6.25 for that nastiness, please don't waste your time or money!!! read more

Cakeboi makes delish cakes. My 10 year old who is an avid watcher of cooking and baking shows said this after our earliest patronage of cakeboi's goods: "cakeboi should go on tv for the baking championships, he will definitely win $1Million! That is how much we love the cakes read more

2nd time trying their cake...it's gross....overly greasy and over cooked...never again.

Order a cake for my boyfriend bithday it was very delicious..and the price is soooooo Right!!!

Before I try new places, my motto is "scroll before I roll." After always driving past this establishment, my curiosity was finally piqued by the rave reviews for the strawberry blonde. Though the blonde is one of the more popular flavors, I was not as excited about it. Then again, I did indulge after thoroughly enjoying the rich, flavorful red velvet cupcake. Hands down, the red velvet beat the strawberry blonde. The blue velvet cake was okay, not even on the same level. Yes, I walked out with three different flavors. Blame my sweet tooth, I'll worry about the calories later lol. Overall, these baked goods are rich and bold in flavor. A slice of cake is huge and worth every penny. My exploration has only just begun. read more

Amazing cakes! The strawberry blondie slice was stellar! The banana pudding was outstanding!Cake slices we bought prepackaged were at the perfect temperature (not too cold, pleasantly chilled) It's clear this crew knows what they're doing. Awesome new addition to Nostrand Ave!!! read more

I stopped in yesterday to check out the bakery and was pleasantly greeted...always a plus I was disappointed that the blueberry blonde wasn't available, but the guy behind the counter was very helpful. He named all the flavors they did have and recommended the pineapple coconut. The cake was moist and tasty, but not the best I ever had. I think a different frosting might compliment the flavors better. Anywho, I'm a fat gurl at heart and love sweets so I'm sure I'll be back. read more

Decided to try a new cake place. Not disappointed. Slices are thick and the cake is dense and moist. Tried the strawberry blonde and white chocolate cake. Both were yummy! The frosting was a great texture and not too sweet. read more

I had such a great experience that I had to write a review! The double chocolate cake I ordered was amazing! My family devoured it and going forward this will be our desert go to. I had the opportunity to stop in opening weekend. I grab a few different slices for the family dinner we were having. EVERYONE loved the cake. My personal favorite is the strawberry but the family vote was for white coco. Either way you "slice it", you will not be disappointed. read more

OMG some of the best cake I've ever had. Super moist. Would definitely use them for an event! Stopped here by accident while wtg on a pizza pie off Fulton & bought a few slices for my kids. Since the red velvet wasn't ready, i bought the pineapple coconut, Oreo vanilla & Reese's slices. $20 later I was filling my mouth with pieces of each. While a little pricey, I'm always willing to support a local business and think these are some of the best cakes in NYC hands down!!!!! read more

I just became aware of the shop a week ago, and since its close to my place, I stopped by after work to check it out. First, I really would love to support black-owned businesses, but it's challenging when you are met with poor service. The gentleman behind his laptop - err, the counter, was clearly disinterested and responded with grunts or short responses, clearly not interested in a conversation. I bought a cake slice in a glass jelly jar. I should have asked when it was made, but I assumed that everything was fresh. When I opened the jar, I noticed that there was a pink heart on top. It was February 20th and Valentine's Day was the 14th. For $7.00? No thanks. read more

Bought the pineapple coconut cake and omg it was moist and delicious! I'm a huge sweets person and this definitely satisfied by craving! Each bite is literally filled with all the flavors. I didn't even eat it all in one sitting, popped it in the fridge and 3 days later, taste just as great as that first bite. Keep up the good work! read more
