I've had several of his cakes and every single one has blown me away. The banana pudding is next-level creamy and full of flavor, the carrot cake is moist and perfectly spiced, and the Oreo cake is rich, fluffy, and downright addictive. His pistachio cake is something special -- light, moist, and flavorful -- and the blue velvet cake? So soft, and c. You can taste the love and attention in every bite. Cakeboi knows what he's doing, and his desserts speak for themselves. Support this talent -- your sweet tooth will thank you! read more

Great neighborhood business, and very accommodating! I called on a Monday which is the only day they are closed and the man picked up, walked me through options, and said they could help me. My cake for my girlfriend's birthday was ready by 5pm the next day, Tuesday, and was great. Banana Creme pudding flavored cake! Yum! We live around the corner and they are good peoples. read more

Delicious cakes by the slice! Came here for a slice of red velvet and carrot cake and the cake was moist and delicious. The carrot was definitely my favorite since the red velvet was on the drier side and I wish it had a tangier frosting, but still a really good choice for cakes and cheesecakes by the slice. read more

This cake is sooooo good!! So buttery, creamy, not too sweet, not too heavy. i had the red blue velvet cake, and omg! When I first tried it, I was like okay. This is good. i ate a few bites and I kept putting it away. The cake was cold when we purchased it, so that impacted the flavor at first. I left the cake slice out in a car most of the day as I was running my errands, and each time ingot back to the car, I took a couple more bites, and that cake got better with time. The icing was perfect! Cream cheese icing, which was so delicious and fresh tasting after thawing out a bit. The richness of the red and blue velvet cake was divine! The butter flavor that also became more and more prevalent after leaving the cake out. I ended up eating the last of it on my way home from the bar, drunk in an Uber, and all I could think was, damn! This cake was really really good! If you haven't tried cakeboi yet, get to it. My cousin ordered a Bday custom cake for her daughters party. I will steal those photos to post on here for me when it happens. In the meantime. i took videos and pictures from my Instagram food page (@2girls1plate_nyc) so excuse the hashtags and the blurry pics. But yes, go to cakeboi and get your life!!! read more

I Got A Story to Tell...Cakeboi gets an instant 5 stars for the Biggie Cookie, a sugar cookie with Biggie Smalls' face emblazoned on it. The cookie was no-no-no-notoriously good. Things Done Changed in the neighborhood, but passing up this bakery would be Dead Wrong. There's even a Tupac cookie available, but remember what neighborhood you're in. The cake is great too, very moist and I Love The Dough. The Sky's the Limit with the different flavors (Fun Fetti, Red Velvet, Pineapple Coconut, Double Chocolate). Taking off 1 star because there's limited seating in the bakery. Add an ODB or Aaliyah cookie to the menu and the bakery can have its 1 star back. read more

Ordered a cake for pick up Saturday at 10:30am. Unfortunately I ended up waiting an hour for it. When we went to cut the cake, the icing on the sides fell off and the cake itself crumbled. Text the mom to share this feedback and she didn't respond. Extremely disappointing since we've always been happy with our previous orders. read more

This bakery has moved and is presently at 675 Nostrand Avenue. I was happy to find the store and meet the owner after seeing the report on the news of their move to this new address. Sadly enough the pandemic has affected many black owned businesses but CakeBoi is resilient and able to make a comeback. I was able to purchase a slice of Vanilla Cake with Sprinkles. Delicious! Their grand re-opening will be Saturday 7/25/20. Don't forget to get your slice! read more

So I had this place on my list to check out for a while, so I stopped by after picking up dinner, to complete my return from vacation about 5:30 pm on a Wednesday. The counter person was cordial, gave me the run down of all of the flavors. I select two and was told he did not have change for a $20. So he sent a guy he was chatting with out to get change. More customers came in, and in the midst, change guy returns. Who do you think got taken care of first. Yes of course the person at the counter buying 4 slices to my two, despite her recent entrance and order. I smiled, was given my cake and change. I bid them both adieu as I skipped out into the rain. Got home ate half my dinner because it was cake time. My bf said the strawberry banana was really good, and I declined a taste. My red velvet was okay, a little sweeter than I'm accustomed to, and I noticed a strange discoloration in the center layer. It was hard as a brick! So I took a swig of my "upgraded coffee", shrugged it off and ate around it. Yeah it was a good 1/4 - 1/3 of my $6 slice, but I refuse to flip out, my vacation had been bad enough. Will I go back, I don't know. read more

I had been wanting to try this place ever since I first heard about it and finally happened to be driving by one day. I almost didn't get to try it because the door was locked and nobody was in sight. I took a walk and came back and the door was still locked, but this time I saw someone in the back. I knocked a few times but she didn't hear me. I was there for several minutes with my baby in the cold before I finally caught her eye. I wish they would get a doorbell or something. It was also difficult to get in with a stroller because there is a step at the door. After the technical difficulties were overcome, I ordered a slice of red velvet and another slice with caramel something or other. Both were very good, although the caramel one was too sweet for my taste (which is saying a lot!). I tend to like a heavier/denser red velvet, but this one was still pretty tasty. read more

Wow this is some good cake. The brand new bakery will be serving cupcakes and cookies too (all named after dead rappers and $2), but all they had at their grand opening was a few varieties of cake. We tried the Red Velvet and the Strawberry Blonde ($6 a slice) and they were incredible. The cake itself is super moist and the frosting is nice and sweet but not too overpowering. This is a great spot to fulfill your sweet tooth. I'll definitely be back once those cookies are available. read more

This whole cake is going into the trash. Saw the Netflix show and was excited to try some since the shop is in my neighborhood. The service was on point - the gentleman behind the counter had strong knowledge of the ingredients. There's a weird discoloration of the red velvet cake and no exaggeration - the cake didn't have the "red velvet taste" - super dry and lacked many flavors. Even the buttercream was bland . Nope. Never again. read more

I found this place after a friend had mentioned it on her Facebook. She said the cake was really good and not too sweet, which I was intrigued by because I find some cakes to be too sweet. I stopped by not long after the FB post, and bought 5 slices ($6 each slice). I got the strawberry blonde (this version had both vanilla and chocolate cake in it), buttercrunch(I got 2 of these bc my friend mentioned it was her face), pineapple coconut, and cookies & cream. I bought these slices for my family to sample, it was not all for me. Lol. With that said, I sampled all and they were all pretty good, and moist and definitely not overly sweet like how some other cake places can be. Even though this was a trek for me, I would definitely be back to support small business but also I want to try any other flavors they offer. I wanted a chocolate slice but they didn't have it available when I stopped by. They also had red velvet, blue velvet and lemon, which I should've gotten bc for some reason it sounds good even though I'm more of a chocolate person. Oh well, next time! read more

This weekend, I ordered a birthday cake from this bakery. Red velvet with buttercream frosting. It exceeded all my expectations. It was more beautiful and delicious than anything I had imagined. It even sparkled and tasted like HEAVEN. Moist perfection and deliciousness. Their attention to detail is unparalleled. I was so impressed. These cakes are pure QUALITY and the service here is AWESOME! The staff is so friendly and nice. The cake I purchased was a total hit at my friends birthday party. Everyone loved it and kept asking where it was from. Worth every penny. Great value!! From now on, I'm getting cakes here for EVERY occasion. I have been trying to step into this establishment for months now. Nearly a Year actually. Today was the day. I came into a nice sweet smell and I knew I was in the right place. They had cakes on deck and ready to be order. Really nice shade of blue velvet caught my eye but I went for the Biggie Cookie. Wish I knew about this bakery for my wedding night. Would've loved to have them make a cake. Maybe for my birthday though... Met the owner who is very cool and relatable and my wife got the caramel cake. It was over before it began. My wife's hesitation was her prior experience with bakeries and how after staying in the bakery for hours, cake begins to taste stale. This was not the case. It was so moist and soft. The cookie was also soft and buttery soft. I will return. I have to try that Blue Velvet. And the Cookies and Creme. And the Eazy- E cookie. And the Tupac Cookie... I'm saying I'm going to try them all. ‍. They got a fan for sure! read more

They have some of the most amazing yummy cake slices. I've heard so much about this place. Some good and some bad so since I was in the area I had to try it for myself. I definitely wasn't disappointed at all by the cake worth every penny that I spent. I got a slice of confetti, carrot and a slice of coconut pineapple. Each cake was simply delicious and super moist and not overly sweet. I really like the carrot cake and the fact that you could see carrots in the carrot cake. I was slightly disappointed because when I got there at 3 those was my only option and I really wanted to try the red velvet .Maybe next time I'm in Brooklyn I'll get my fix. Overall i would definitely go back because the cake was just that damn good read more

Two and a half stars really but half stars aren't yet a Yelp option. Okay nearly a month after my rather unpleasant first experience as a Cakeboi customer, I received a very redeeming email from the manager. Attaboy!! That slice of cake is quite divine. I'm usually not a fan of frosting as it is too sweet, but since they use cream in their frosting I had to try. It's sooo good. It seems like every aspect of the cake was given a lot of detail so that it came together perfectly. I only wish they sold slice half the size. At $6 a slice, I would go once awhile. If it was $3 and half the size, I would go all the time which is very dangerous. For cake lovers, this is a must visit. read more

I'm only giving one star because putting zero is not an option. I had high hopes for this place and was quickly let down. One thing I know is cake! I knew something was wrong just from looking at the cake; it seemed oily along with the icing. Then when the person who was assisting me handed me the two slices I requested, it felt like a ton of bricks; the cake was beyond heavy. I opened the container and was instantly hit with an overwhelming scent of butter. Moment of truth....taste: the cake fell apart in my mouth; again, it turned to crumbles bc of an excessive amount of oil. The taste was something very unfamiliar; I've never tasted a cake like this. If I was blindfolded and was told to guess what I was eating, cake would be the last thing on my mind. It's just bad. The recipe needs to change! read more

Aight so boom... stopped by this shop after being in the area and was instantly turned on by the the CakeBoi sign that beamed overhead. I walked and was instantly greeted by two young men working behind the counter. Thumbs up for customer service. I was overwhelmed by the large assortment because I LOVE cake and if it was up to me I'd eat every flavor behind the counter if my stomach allowed me to. But one of the guys literally went through each flavor with me and I decided to go with the strawberry blond flavor. The cake- Oh my God. It is so good. I'm not a big frosting person but this frosting had licking all through the teeth of the fork like the savage that I am. The cake was super moist and was the perfect balance of strawberry and vanilla. 5 stars for you CakeBoi! read more

STRAIGHT OUTTA REASONS NOT TO LIKE THIS PLACE Cakeboi is a new favorite of my boyfriend's and mine. The design and the sign outside is what drew our attentions driving past one day. From our first visit, we've been hooked. I've tried the Strawberry blonde, Strawberry Pineapple, (bomb) Pineapple Coconut, a Hazlenut and Cashew flavor and the Red (velvet), White & Blue (velvet). I tried Strawberry Pineapple because I couldn't decide between the Strawberry blonde & the Pineapple Coconut. It was the perfect combo to give me the best of both worlds. All of the flavors are delicious and indulgent but I would say Pineapple Coconut is the best as it is has the right amount of sweetness, it's moist and indulgent. The Strawberry Pineapple comes right after for me. The Hazelnut Cashew didn't have a strong flavor but it was really good. It was what you wish most yellow would taste like. The staff is also very helpful and friendly. And they're really cool with answering all your questions. read more

THANK YOU CAKEBOI!! This bakery made a cake shaped like a book for my friend's book launch and it was INCREDIBLE. It was absolutely beautiful to look at; they captured the book so well and added some gorgeous extra touches. And it was delicious! We did the red velvet flavor and it was perfectly made.
