Stopped by here last night. The name always caught my eye. The girl inside could not have been any nicer. After going thru my fickled menu. She suggested a pinnaple cake. Cake was a bit dense but good. It was the last one so I was thinking it might be old, but no, still fresh like it was just sliced. Not many options for drinks, but I'm sure they're getting there. Was a little pricy for the slice. But all in all worth it. I'll be back when the feeling for cake hits me. read more

Again, my review is late. My visit was about a month ago. However, I DID NOT 4GET! Sooooooo I was super excited to try Cake Boi!! Passed this place several times. Finally I'm in! The place is really cute inside and it's stocked with a variety of cake. The young lady behind the counter seemed as though she didn't want to be at work and I had a stressful day, so I let her tired attitude slide. Thinking that maybe she had a long day too. You know holding up that wonderful customer service demeanor ALL DAY when it's YOUR JOB can be a little hard. I decided on the pineapple coconut. I was shocked at the tiny piece for $6. I asked the young lady why are the slices so small. In her tired demeanor she advised "that's how it's cut". Ok.. a little tight.. I thought to myself.... I'm sure it's good. Well I was wrong. I wanted to like the cake so bad. It was dry and lackluster of flavor. I didn't even finish it. It was NOT good at all. Cake Boi new name is Bye Boi! read more

Oh. My. Gosh.!! I moved here to NYC about a year ago and have been searching for some great red velvet cake. I gave up until I stumbled on Cake Boi. This is some damn good red velvet. The cake is very moist and delicious and the icing is the perfect complement. On top of that I tried the strawberry blonde and the blue velvet and they are ahhhmazing as well. I have a major sweet tooth and it's so hard to find a bakery that does it right. But Cake Boi does. It. Right. This is officially my new spot. It's confection perfection. read more

I've only tried the coconut pineapple cake but it's everything a cake should be: moist but airy, with the coconut and pineapple flavors well balanced. The best piece of cake I've had in a while. I ate it so quickly. read more

So I live in the neighborhood and I always drive pass the shop so I have been dying to try it out and I finally did the other day. It is Sooooo good I got a slice of red velvet for I believe around $6 and it was a really nice piece for the price I have been eating it for two days already lol it's that big but no complaints tho and on top of that very moist everything I want when it comes to cake! I can honestly say this is the first time I've ever left a review on anything. I am more than happy for cakeboi to be the experience to change that. Craving sweets all day I made a quick stop here before heading home. First of all as soon as I entered I received a warm and more than helpful welcome. A detailed and honest run down on the different cakes. After making my selection, strawberry pineapple cake i was ready to pay and leave. I was asked if it was my first time, and being that it was I was then gifted a free cake . Blue and red velvet cake, which I don't eat red velvet cake because it's usually to sweet. They insisted I try it since it's free anyway and honestly it was soooooo good I took multiple bites. Overall I had a pleasant experience and can't wait to fill my sweet tooth cravings with them again. BTW this strawberry pineapple cake is the truth! read more

The red velvet cake was good but some reason it wasn't as moist enough what I like about it wasn't all that sweet but enough the ingredients was perfect down to the cream cheese frosting the lady that took my order was very nice beautiful smile don't mind spending $6.50 for a slice of cake for good customer service and good cake read more

Delicious! Run! if you have to avoid sweets. Delectably decadent and delicious cakes and cupcakes. The buttercream is REAL! Closed on Sundays. read more

Customer service is flawed. When paying in full for an order no matter the amount you expect quality. When being promised a refund you expect a business to be prompted. I ordered a cake that was done completely wrong, even after instructions being provided. The baker had an attitude the whole time because he was asked to redo it. On top of the cake being wrong it wasn't done for the pick up time frame. The cake was burnt, fell before being served because it was rushed and not able to set. The refund NEVER happened even after stopping by the establishment numerous times and providing my information no one ever contacted me back. Just an overall horrible experience. It's hard to support new businesses when they don't take pride within their own business. Will never recommend. Complete waste of money. read more

Their cakes were moist and delicious! I usually don't eat icing but I thoroughly enjoyed theirs. I got the pineapple coconut cake for my graduation and it was just what we needed for my party. They do really nice designs and their staff is friendly and accommodating. Thank you Cakeboi for the perfect cake for my graduation party! read more

These cakes are the most delicious cakes you can possibly imagine. So moist! But it is the frosting that is eye closingly good! We chose chocolate with coconut frosting!!! We also had the opportunity to try a special strawberry cake which was unexpectedly delicious, coming from someone who doesn't like strawberry. In addition to spectacular cakes, the customer service is heartfelt. We would HIGHLY recommend Cakeboi Shop!!! With special thanks for making Hedda's 90th Birthday so wonderful!! (The best birthday cake ever!) read more

A++ Best cake in the area!! The cake is just right..nice and moist and the frosting is finger licking good (not too sweet or over bearing). 5 stars! read more

Just tried this place for the first time n the texture is good but lacks flavor. I got the red velvets Oreo slice. I wouldn't go back.

Lemon cake was okay... not worth $6 a slice. I was thrown off by the price and I asked the lady was the cake good and her answer was "we been here for two years". I felt it was rude of her- she could of spoke to the texture or sweetness to provide actual insight. I read yelp but i decided to support black and purchased anyway. I will not buy again. read more

I stumbled upon this bakery as I was about to get on the C train, and I'm so glad I did. The cake is delicious and the gentleman who worked behind the counter was friendly, and awesome. read more

I had a really bad experience with this bakery last. I made in appointment a head of time and I told the baker what kind of cake I wanted, he also gave me a price quote which I was ok with. Now when I get to the bakery I'm told that the quote was wrong and that in order to get a cake that feeds 50 people I would have to spend at least $300. The menu board state that the 1/2 sheet cake was $125. However the baker claim that would only be for a plain cake without even a happy birthday. In order for me to get a cake with any kind of design or decoration the price would double. I ask why she said it's because of the time and the cost of material. She also insisted that I get fondant, which I clearly told her I do not like and don't want. She said we should just eat around the fondant. What kind of baker would suggest that. Every single suggestion I made and every picture I showed her she either needed fondant or couldn't do, down to just simple roses. She even told me the ideas I had just simply don't look right. Wow what a place. I just wanted a nice cake to celebrate my mother's birthday. Needless to say after wasting over an hour in this place I walked right out. I was very unhappy. read more

i saw this bakery a couple of weeks back and decided today was the day i support this black owned establishment. the gentleman ( the bakers brother)behind the counter was very courteous and welcoming. he pointed out the flavors of their slices. i purchased 4 different flavores of cake. red velvet with and without nuts, chocolate & vanilla, pineapple strawberry. i must say that i was very dissapointed. the cakes were extremely dry like a cornbread texture and all bland. they all tasted the same and was not sweet. the red velvet did not taste like a velvet cake not a hint of chocolate. i have had cakeman, doc on bainbridge st and bettys on atlantic. unfortunately i will pass on this place in the future. sorry for the negative review. read more

figured i'd try this spot...asked a few questions about their products and the worker was not thrilled. got a slice of cake and the unhelpful worker told me it was "chocolate with a coffee icing". cake was dry as hell and i couldn't taste the coffee in the icing at all - it was all sour cream!! almost $7 for a slice of cake that went into the garbage...shameful read more

Best cake in Brooklyn!!!!!! Love the lemon and red velvet flavors. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming and the customer service was excellent. The worker knew just what to suggest when I seemed stuck on choosing a flavor. I will definitely be visiting this place on more occasions. read more
