The place was super busy when we got there to get some snack before heading to New Year Eve count down, but we got seated quickly. Service was good, the servers speak English. Food was ok. A bit pricey but it s a nice location to seat there and watch people walking around the busy street

Minus 1 star for water that is 33cl costing €6.20 each! Rip off!! Let's be clear. This is somewhat a tourist trap restaurant. Located quite near the opera house (but really far enough away to be such a pushy rip off), there's a big menu outside for your attention, and the waiter will come running out to call you and wave you into the restaurant. They have mastered this tactic! We literally just landed that morning and were not as on guard as we normally are and absentmindedly went in. Honestly, the food isn't even very French; it was more American. We ended up with a club sandwich and a salmon bagel, food that we could have gotten back home but we were too tired to get up and leave. The food was ok, not great, not cheap either. The service was ok, just the type where they take your order, deliver the food, and you never see them again. The worst rip-off is the water at €6.20 each for just 33cl. RIDICULOUS. Oh, guess what - the menu does NOT have drink prices. That's how they cheat you! Ask for table water if you're eating there. No other place we ate at, even much nicer restaurants charged that high.

I had a happy time here this evening. It was my intention to get there earlier today, for breakfast, but that didn't happen. I still made it, because it is in a convenient location, and I like the sidewalk atmosphere. I sat down to a happy waiter. As I sat, I noticed all the servers were pretty happy. That helped to brighten up my evening. I asked for water, no gas. I was asked if that's all I wanted or if I planned on ordering food. It's an odd question to me, but maybe they get people like that. It seemed like he wanted to tell me something if I was not going to be ordering food. However, I was. The menu looked great. It made me wish I could have breakfast there. However, it was dinner time. There is a last page to the menu, which basically lists the fish, meat, salad, soup, et cetera of the day. But there are no descriptions. You have to ask the server. I'm accustomed to the server telling me what the special of the day is, not having to ask. Upon asking however, I chose the hamburger of the day: a New York steak burger. When my meal came out, it was excellent. The burger could have been tastier with some seasoning, but the rest of it was excellent. The service was good. The people watching was good. Thank God for the wind that blew people's smoke the other way, so I could enjoy myself. All-in-all, worth coming back.

I am walking around Paris and decide to stop for a drink. My beer is delicious, especially as the day was getting warmer. The tables outside have a good view into the Opera and the busy street with people walking at a fast pace. I had a specialty coffee, which was overpriced and just OK. Service was friendly and fast. Most waiters speak English. Overall a good spot to grab a bite and a drink, just be careful about the price of what you are ordering.

Had Fajitas au poulet. It was tasty. I think this place deserves 4 stars at least. They made me a mocha (even without knowing what is a mocha) and it was good too. I feel satisfied coming here. Update: the mocha was expensive (9.5 euros).

Great location. Friendly waiters (wearing traditional black and white outfit). Pricey though.

Lots of space, with outdoor seating. Was around the corner from my hotel and had a lot of options so we at there twice. Yes waiters seem very busy but they speak English and remembered our orders without writing anything down. Good option if youre around the Gare Lazare area. Also some fancy stores are nearby like Burberry and Gucci. The metro is nearby so you can just hop on the train and get your day started....(or head back home).

Wow! We ducked the rain and ended up coming to this beautiful charming cafe across from L'Opera. We ordered a charcuterie platter and desserts: Excellent food! Excellent service! Adorable cafe! Planning to return for breakfast!

This place was so good. I had the goat cheese salad and it was amazing. I dream of it and can't get any like it in NY! My cousin also loved her fish salad. The server was really nice and accommodating

a frenchy french cafe on a busy corner of paris. i would call this place touristy but i also see lots of locals frequenting this place. it's a nice spot to come hang out, have brunch/lunch or just a coffee or cocktail, and people watch. located directly across from the madeleine and next to the main shopping area, it's just a convenient and decent cafe. we walked by this place enough times, but only decided to come the first time because it was one of the only places in this area that was open on Sunday... first off, i love the decor! everything is red, black and silver. just looks very cool. it's casual enough to come have a cafe au lait and croissant but nice enough to have a cocktail or two in the evening. i kinda wish the tables weren't so dinky but i guess that's the french cafe way. also... anyone noticed that only men work here? i guess that's the french cafe way as well! don't expect the food here to be the best french cuisine ever... this is just a cafe. it's not bad, but nothing special for france. we had the croque madame and the mushroom omlette. both were pretty good, served with mixed greens and fries on the side. the fries were cute! they were! they were curled to kinda look like tubes or something. i've never seen that before! of course the coffee was divine. soooo good. my cafe au lait... omg... perfect. we came another time and had a croissant and it was warm, crispy and also perfect. ahhhhh~ i've always wanted to sit outside here but people be smoking their faces off. when we come to paris again in the winter, maybe we'll stop by, but we wont go out of our way to come.

This is my favorite place for an early breakfast in this area. We were staying at a nearby hotel and jetlag had us up at 7am each morning. Enter the casual Cafe Madeleine and their €9 breakfast of baguette, croissant, butter, jam, and cappuccino. We sat outdoors and took our time- it was wonderful and the waitstaff was so friendly. A heads up to Americans: the service here may appear slower than what you are used to, but that's how many cafes in France operate - this is about leisure and relaxation. You can tell your waiter if you are in a rush but otherwise be prepared to have a slower meal- which we loved! All in all, great baguettes and coffee, lovely waitstaff.

The restaurant itself isn't small, but really not big, so it's definitely worthwhile to make a reservation at least a week or so on advance, otherwise you're pushing your luck. Everyone ordered steak frites (2 rump steak, 2 flank) and no one was disappointed. Steaks were cooked to order, although medium here in France is more like medium rare in the States, just be advised. The restaurant itself is lively and fun with lots of chatting, laughing and good times being shared. Desserts were Crème Brûlée and Apple Crumble, neither of which were disappointing. We definitely enjoyed our dinner and would likely return again. This time with a reservation made well in advance.

We were seated at a table facing the smaller street with IKEA City. Not much people-watching happened given shops were already closed in the evening and thus less people shopping on the streets. We ordered the croque monsieur and croque madame. The difference between the two is that the croque madame comes with a fried sunny side up egg. This was heavy but so yummy! The egg yolk makes a great sauce to soak up this cheesy and hammy toast. This came with a salad on the side which had a vinegar based dressing coated on it. The only thing is we had miscommunication with the waitress about drinks. We asked for water (l'eau) but they gave us distilled water in a bottle which costed us 8 euros. I learned it's important to learn to specifically ask for carafe d'eau (tap water in French) to get free water! Felt a bit bad that we were overcharged. Just gotta be careful with communicating next time. All in all, I enjoyed trying the amazing sandwich that is a croque madame. Wanted to give 4 stars for the food but the bottled water still irks me.

The hotel is so regal and beautiful, with something to admire around every corner. That said, the jazz night itself was nothing particularly special in my opinion. We had dined at the Ritz in London a week earlier, and that was a truly quintessential jazz experience, complete with live performers, dancers, and a singer. Unfortunately, the experience in Paris didn't compare. The drinks, however, were 10/10! They even created a special cocktail just for us based on our preferences, and it was SO good. If you're looking for a beautiful place for drinks, I would absolutely recommend this. But the dinner... OMG, just a big NO. We started with a few salads, and for our mains we ordered the steak and the lobster pasta. Unfortunately, both were incredibly disappointing, and I could barely finish my dish. For a hotel of this caliber, I was honestly shocked by how underwhelming the food was. All in all, the setting, the historic hotel, the beautiful atmosphere, and the overall experience made for such a special evening. I just wish the food had lived up to everything else.
