One night while walking around the area, we went into Le Sancerre for drinks and a light bite. This brassiere was the perfect place to take a break from the cold Paris evening. We had bowls of onion soup (French Onion Soup in the US, but just onion soup in France) which were fantastic. A beefy broth flavored with caramelized onions, crusty bread, and gooey cheese. Perfect on a cold night! Followed by a delicious dessert. Their beer offerings were limited, but sufficient and the mixed drinks were very good. This is a perfect, quintessential French restaurant up on the Mont. I had the Boeuf Tartare, Soup D'onion, Steak Frites. The food was delicious, the outdoor patio roomy and unique, not just another cookie cutter patio. The view of the street was great, lots of people watching. Food: I got a version of steak frites. Quality and large cut of beef! My gripes: Food wasn't piping hot, and steak had clearly been cut into to check the level of done-ness. Unfortunately, a large chunk was no where near the well-done I requested. That said, they were allergy accommodating and ingredients were quality. Service: Pretty food. We came to see the Sacre Couer back in 2010 but didn't walk around the neighborhood at all. So naturally, we ventured back to the area because I remembered it seemed interested and of course, we were hungry, so as we wandered around, we found ourselves here. We decided to eat inside near the window so we could watch people. The staff, all men, were very friendly and attractive...LOL! It reminded me of those movies where everyone is beautiful...LOL! We ordered a bottle of wine, which was very good. I can't stop saying how great the wines are in France compared to the U.S. I ordered one of their salads cause it was later in the day and I didn't want to fill up before dinner...LOL! The partner ordered the steak special and though it was tender, it could've been a little bigger considering the amount of potatoes that were on the plate. The ambiance is great! The view was fun! The only thing that bothered me was the smoking from the sidewalk tables, but we're in France and it's what they do. This is a great place to sit, converse, and eat. As far as a tourist trap, we were the only tourists, so I think it's a local hangout. I would definitely come back if I was in the area, perhaps for wine and a cheese board. My dish was a Mac and cheese with the most delicious paper-thin slices of ham. This dish was amazing, and I would definitely order again. FOOD POISONING !! Ate lunch there, had a salad as a side. After eating a few bites of the salad, It smelt fishy and the dressing had a pungent stink. I called the waiter to take it back to the kitchen and ask the chef if it is normal. He took the dish and never returned. Well this is awkward...I was coming to write a glowing review of my dining at Le Sancerre, but now I see the mixed reviews on this place which has me wondering. But honestly, I'll still give credit when due because the service was fantastic (server was friendly enough but not so much where it would come across as overly flirty...I do forget that I have to smile less when traveling around Europe), and I had the duck confit here which was well above my expectations. I'm still drooling a bit as I'm thinking of the food...the duck was cooked just right and not a dry or burnt piece in sight! The only thing I would critique is the use of ketchup and mayo packets instead of bottles or jars; the packets seem too much like fast food/McDo. Maybe it was my hunger or because, yes, I'm just a tourist as any other local would find so mundane and naive (hmph), but I appreciated the experience and my dining experience here is not the usual back at home. read more

I was a little weary about eating on this strip after a bad experience dining at Le Chinon down the street, but I'm glad this cafe proved me wrong. Although we had to wait a little longer to get a waiter's attention to place our order, everything was smooth sailing from there. Our waiter, Teddy, was extremely nice and welcoming unlike a lot of the waiters in the area who seem to be impatient with American tourists. He even went as far as to give us and other tourists recommendations on where to find the best views of the city from Montmartre. I found one thing -- ravioles du royans, which were tiny little ravioli in a spinach cream sauce. It was delicious and a much bigger portion than I expected (needed help finishing). I ran into this restaurant when I was aimlessly walking on Rue des Abbesses last year in September looking for a place to eat brunch. I read on Yelp that restaurants on Rue des Abbesses were better than the ones on Place Du Tertre in Montmartre. I am reading mixed reviews about this place right now, maybe, it's a hit and miss kind of place. My experience was pretty good at this place. The waiter was very nice, friendly, and welcomed me at the restaurant. I got here late in the afternoon and the restaurant wasn't serving breakfast but the staff was kind enough to serve me breakfast. I love breakfast food, so eat breakfast at odd hours. The English Breakfast I ordered included a cup of cappuccino, freshly squeezed delicious orange juice, scrambled eggs, a croissant, smoked salmon on a bread, and the most delicious yogurt with granola with strawberry syrup, and I remember it being cheap. read more

The is kind of a high brow restaurant and the portions are very small so be prepared to pay money for a little bit of food. The food was eh.... nothing too exciting. If i wanted to go to the WC , right and left table had to move a bit in order for find a path to the toilet . I couldn't have a conversation , as i could hear other people's chat . It was packed with tables , not even the waiters could serve in a proper way . Bottom line , we payed 80€ for 2 main courses , 1 salad , 1 dessert and 2 glasses of sparkling wine . As a food lover , i went already to some really nice restaurants around Europe , but this fast food type one , it was extremely disappointing & expensive . I would honestly advice you to avoid this one . However, my boyfriend and I stopped in for a bite and drinks after a long day of travel and loved our apps. We got a smoked salmon on toast with eggs and it was amazing!! Had the opportunity to have a true Parisien breakfast experience at Le Sancerre on our first full day in Paris. Came across this cute little cafe while strolling in Montmarte early one morning and stopped in for petit-dejeuner. There were three petit-dejeuner options available to order from. I chose the smallest of the three, the Parisien. It came with one of the freshest croissants I've ever had in my life, some orange juice, coffee, baguette, butter and jam.
