Beef steak with pepper sauce and crispy potatoes

I visited Le Relais Gascon in Montmartre on a Rick Steves' recommendation, and it hit the spot! We almost walked by the unpretentious exterior, but we appreciated that the restaurant didn't feel overly touristy (given its location on Rue des Abbesses). The menu features French classics like steak and hearty soups, but the salmon salad caught my eye. Although I wouldn't typically order a salad as my main course, I'm glad I took the chance because this turned out to be one of the best salads I've ever tasted. The greens were fresh and topped with creamy dressing and an abundance of smoked salmon, olives, tomatoes, and crispy garlic potato slices. Those crispy potato slices took this salad to the next level - they were a cross between crispy garlic fries and potato chips. The salad was massive and could easily feed two, although I enjoyed it so much that I nearly finished it myself. I definitely was not expecting one of my favorite meals in Paris to be salad!

Located in a cute street area. Be prepare to walk up a steep street. Our tour guide made reservation for a party of 16. We got seated upstairs in a tight cramped room by the restroom. There was barely any air circulation. Good selection of items on the menu. I ordered the escargot and beef bourguignon. The escargot was good! Lots of herbs and butter which is how I like my escargot prepared. Soon after my beef bourguignon came out. It looked like a deconstructed beef and pasta dish. The noodles looked like tagliatelle. The meat and sauce was slightly salty. Meat was tender tho! Service was average. They seem to forget some orders and we had to remind them again. Overall, very nice people tho!

I think this is the BEST place to eat in Montmartre, Paris! We loved their French Onion Soup and Escargot rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Plus, the staff was so friendly!

Cold cute plater only 9 euros .

Very happy with this place. The food was very delicious & my husband loved their cold cut plater. The server was very pleasant & attentive to our needs. We sat outside since it was such a beautiful day. Definitely will come back next time we're in Paris.

These guys make a great steak with foie gras. The service is great and they are always willing to accommodate you. It's a very neighborhood vibe mixed with tourist so you get a real Parisian experience.

Rude service. Was treated differently as solo traveler. Will not recommend, disappointed as was looking forward to their salad.

Food was very great, service was excellent. Very warm, welcoming, and relaxed setting, just a short walk away from the tourist area.

I was seated in the backroom which was all high tables and very quiet. Notre Pâté en croûte - This was great. A slice of bread with chunks of duck and other meat with pickled items on the side (which I always love!) and a little bit of lettuce. It is not like a spreadable paté. Capra (salade) - this was a large salad with three large fried goat cheese balls. I had to take much of it with me. It has a variety of ingredients which don't necessarily go together but you can mix and match with each bite. They have a QR code to their website for the English menu if you need. I was stopped at the door asking if I paid which was strange because the tables in my section all have QR codes on them to pay before leaving. Do Parisians not use these? Next time: I'll sit upstairs and try some other dishes.

The food was served tapas style, and they have deals such as getting 5 (or 10!) plates at a discounted price. We ordered 5 for the two of us, but the tapas here are much larger than they are in the states, so we were STUFFED and didn't even finish three fourths of it! Well worth the money. Because it is a more authentic place, most waiters didn't speak English. They were helpful to the best of their ability, and I would highly suggest giving them a try even if you're not overly confident in your French!

Unfortunately, it was past 10 pm so a lot of places were closed. We were getting frantic trying to find a restaurant that was still open. We finally pinged this place on GoogleMaps. I have to say, this place is the definition of a hidden gem. It's a small French tapas place off on a side street that unless you were really searching, you would probably walk by it in favor of larger restaurants. I don't know if our waiter was also the owner or the sommelier, but either way, his English was limited. Luckily, my fiancee's sister speaks French so she was able to translate the menu (to an extent). As such, this was a tapas restaurant so everything was small plates and meant to be shared. I don't remember the exact name of everything we ordered, but I remember a Pad Thai, a beef dish, smoked salmon, octopus, and a fried dish (maybe calamari, but I don't remember). The food is excellent and packed with flavor. You'd be surprised how filling these little dishes can be. If you ever come to Paris, I recommend going off the beaten path for this little piece of heaven.

Unfortunately, it was too early for the tartare as they only serve that during lunch/dinner hours. So we ordered an onion soup, a dozen snails, and a cheese plate. The onion soup was really good. The cheese was nice and melty and slightly charred in some spots. I shared this with my husband but I probably could have eaten two of these on my own. The snails were great as well. But I feel like 12 is a little too much for two people, but 6 wouldn't be enough. For the cheese plate, I don't remember what was on it but I remember not liking the harder cheeses and really liking the gorgonzola. I wish we found out about this place sooner so we could have tried a proper meal. If anyone gets a chance to try the beef tartare, let me know!
