My bag and a brew.
Pip M.

I really like Café Lodro. I love the roasted coffee and this one in West Seattle is a cute little shop. I often by a bag of coffee so that I can get coffee for home and they give you a free cup coffee for purchasing a bag. This place gives you 12 ounces but I wanted 16 ounces... it morning am I am tired. They said they could change me for a 8oz if I wanted a 16oz. Well I just got the 12oz. Paying full price for 8oz to get 4oz more coffee and the price difference between a 12oz and a 16oz drip coffee... it all just didn't make sense. Probably the last time I go here. Sad. Victrola has really good roast coffee as well and is much more generous.

Caffe Ladro is a cute little coffee shop in West Seattle. They have everything you need: coffee, tea, hot chocolate, frozen drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and free wifi. I'm really happy that they are still open during the Coronavirus quarantine (even Starbucks is closed). Of course, it is take-out only right now, but I felt completely safe while I was there. After I ordered my drink, I swiped my own credit card and the barista said I didn't have to sign the receipt. They do have a "three person maximum" right now, so if there are already customers inside, you might have to wait outside until someone leaves. My cappuccino was perfect (even better than Starbucks!) and I'm happy to help support a local business. They also have a loyalty card, so I will definitely check it out the next time I'm there.

Caffe Ladro is my absolute favorite. It's not on the way to work kind of stop since it's out of the way but I do come here pretty often on the weekends and when I have random days off like yesterday haha. Couldn't go to work yesterday due to police closure so I went and got breakfast here. The staff are always so sweet and will converse if they're not slammed. The barista made me a favorite everyone's been requesting lately which consist of honey and orange zest. Really delicious but my favorite is probably still the honey lavender they have during the summer.

Ladro coffee is no shadow man, just the coffee god of our age! Perfect blend of roasting skills the've incorporated into all there coffee beans to draw out the most robust flavors. Have you've ever dreamed of the perfect cup of "JOE" ? If so then make your way to Cafe Ladro for either a fresh drawn cub or bag of beans to brew at home. Your taste bugs are begging you for it at 6am so must oblige in your tastebuds desire. Also if your stopping into the shop there homemade pastry are wonderful. The two items that stand out are the ham & cheese croissant and the apple crisp. However the apple pie is the BEST, but it's no longer served by the slice so you must special order a entire pie, but so worth it. Hope FRANK has given u a proper tip for the coffee gods. If not you'll suffer at Starbucks!

"A West Seattle neighborhood favorite" Someone said that this is typical hipster cafe and I beg to differ. This place has been serving great coffee way before West Seattle transitioned to a hipster joint. This is my go to work spot as the coffee is good, strong and consistent. Staff is always friendly and welcoming at all times. I would occasionally encounter noisy patrons but nothing a noise canceling headphones can fix. This is one of the neighborhood gems that still gives you the small town vibes and they need to stay for a very long time.

We're just in town for a wedding and popped in for a pick me up. Ordered a couple of cappuccinos which were fine. It's a nice place to sit and enjoy your coffee. Unfortunately felt the barista had a rude tone telling us where the line starts. There was no sign or line to indicate the flow of customers. Maybe he gets tired of telling people or maybe he had a bad day. Stop in if you're looking for good coffee and not warm fuzzies.

I stopped by over the weekend and tried the almond croissant and an iced vanilla latte. I was honestly surprised by how reasonably priced everything was, especially considering it's in such a tourist-heavy area. For comparison, the coffee shop upstairs (storyville) had lattes for around $8.50, while here we got two coffees AND two pastries for about $24 total. For the quality, I thought that was a really good value. I order vanilla lattes everywhere I go, and this one was fantastic. The space itself is also pretty large -- we were able to find seating easily even on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Seattle. It was very crowded, but still found a spot and the long line went by quickly. I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're visiting Seattle!

When asking for the most popular item, the friendly employee said the almondine (almond croissant) would be the must-try. I have to say- it was a great croissant, but not the best I've ever had. However, I did think the pricing was very reasonable here. There is a small selection of indoor seating, and of course, they have a full coffee menu to enjoy, too. The vibe felt somewhat formal and not the cozy local bakery vibe I enjoyed at other spots in Seattle. The hardest part about visiting Pike Place is that there is so much to choose from and so much competition. Are there better bakeries? Probably. Is Le Panier great and easily accessible on the main strip of Pike Place? Yes. That fact makes it a great choice for your pastry needs.

On this visit ordered the "go to" , blueberry ginger scone, ratatouille sandwich, turkey havarti sandwich, banana bread, and some Americanos to go. The croissant was on the crispier side, especially with the almond crumble on top it was a bit too cripsy for me, but I tend to like soft and flakey pastries so it's probably a matter of taste. There was a TON of almond filling in the middle. I enjoyed the taste and texture but it was too much filling for me personally. I would have liked more croissant in my croissant, so to say haha. The chocolate was slightly dark which worked well with the sweet pastry and filling! Overall I enjoyed the croissant but it was a tad too heavy on the filling and cripsy/crunchy for me.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. Definitely coming back for the mushroom and Gruyère pastry and to try their other delicious flavors. Their supreme croissant flavor switches often and we can't wait to try the next one! Through several visits: Baguette, Large ($7.95) - Great baguette with bubbling golden exterior complete with the perfectly baked crust even after waiting 3 hours before cutting in and eating. The interior has the perfect moisture level and is delightfully soft and chewy. The taste overall has a deep developed flavor. This is a great baguette. The only problem - the price. I can find ones for half the price that are maybe 80% as good as this one. (5/5) Seasonal Biscuit ($4.50) - This biscuit definitely isn't Southern-style. It's more of a drop biscuit, combining a relatively soft and tender interior with a nice exterior crust, without any flakiness or layering. The interior is almost cake-like in texture and crumb, and is plenty moist. They add plenty of fresh black pepper inside. It's distributed very evenly, giving a peppery bite with every mouthful. Parmesan is added to the top of the biscuit before baking, giving plenty of umami and richness but only on the upper layer. (4/5) Green Vinaigrette Cafeteria Style Pizza ($6.25) - The pizza is kept under a warming lamp, so it starts getting a little dried out after I assume a couple of hours spent there. I do love the base though - it's focaccia-like giving a really crunchy dark golden brown crust underneath, which supports the toppings. The pizza slice has lots of structural integrity and doesn't flop over. There's a base of fragrant concentrated tomato paste-like flavor which is topped with a very even layer of cheese. Since it's warmed rather than freshly baked, the cheese starts congealing a bit. The cheese is peppered with parsley, garlic, and a bunch of mustard seeds, giving a special zing. The toppings go all the way to the sides of the pie, making it great for people who dislike crust. Even though it's cafeteria style pizza that's kept under heat lamps, I quite liked it. I wonder if I can get a really fresh slice if I get there right at 11AM when lunch starts. (5/5) Chocolate Croissant ($6.10) - Great lamination with a very aesthetic honeycomb pattern. Baked on the harder side, causing fantastic crispy flaky layers to flake off, but also creating a darker golden brown character that is on the verge of bitterness. Nicely buttery soft and chewy interior. Chocolate is a darker variety, probably somewhere around 70%, so it has a pleasing balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor. It's not typical baton, instead seems to be a section from a bar. Still warm and melty even through I didn't eat the croissant until ~30 minutes after purchasing. When cooled down further, some red fruity notes start appearing, so this seems to be be pretty high quality. (5/5) White Sourdough ($12.60) - Now this is a loaf of bread. Superb crust, probably 2 or 3 times as thick compared to competitors, creating a supreme crusty bite with a chew approaching a hard crunch with almost caramelized molasses notes on the bottom. The interior is moist and tender with a pleasing slight sourdough tang. It's a superb piece of craftsmanship. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.80) - This is another heavier bake with some acridity development on the top surface. Unlike many other bakeries where the kouign amann is basically a differently shaped croissant with sugar glaze, Sea Wolf's version feels more in line with tradition. The crumb is denser and richer, more like brioche. There's interesting black speckling inside which I believe is due to the inclusion of espresso powder given the mild coffee-like flavor. The crust is again baked hard, but it's lighter and not as flaky as the croissant. They sprinkle just a bit of salt on top of a very light caramelized sugar glaze. It's not very sweet and I didn't find it too salty unlike some other reviewers. (5/5) Plain Focaccia Slice ($4.80) - Good quality olive oil, some salt sprinkled on top to boost the flavors. Light and airy interior, but the exterior is a little wan, being more light golden brown and lacking some good crusty crisp especially on the fried bottom. Quite oily. (4/5) Sea Wolf gives out free sourdough starter, which can be requested from the cashier. Since picking it up several weeks ago, I've gone through several feed/bake cycles for making sourdough focaccia. I've visited Sea Wolf 3 or 4 times in the last month. That's a testament to how high quality their pastries and breads are. I think the only thing stopping me from visiting more is thanks to the starter I got from them fanning my baking instincts. I bake so much now that I don't have any need to buy their bread! Note: Sea Wolf charges a 3% credit card fee. This is not noted on their menu - it only appears in the POS right before paying. Kind of sketchy. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

Service was super friendly! I got the hojicha latte, the okonomiyaki frittata, black sesame cookie, kimchi focaccia, and sakura swiss roll. The hojicha latte was rich and earthy in the best way, and it went really well with the black sesame cookie, which had a great strong sesame flavor, and the texture was perfectly chewy! The focaccia was pillowy and chewy at the same - I could've eaten five of these on their own. The frittata was my least favorite item, but by no means am I saying that it's bad! I really was looking forward to trying a cardamom croissant or bun but they didn't have either available. My iced latte was alright. Nothing to go crazy over. The cherry foam for an additional $2.00 was very pretty but that's where it stopped at. Absolutely no cherry or sakura flavor. Disappointed. The sesame cookie had a great smell to it. The aroma of sesame was strong. The cookie had a nice crisp to the edge and a chewy center. The sesame taste wasn't as strong as the smell. The spicy chicken sandwich on special was not spicy at all. It was overwhelmingly sweet from the orange glaze/sauce on the kitchen. It was a decent sandwich and I definitely finished it. Just not something I would gravitate back to. I understand the reviews about how this place doesn't live up to some extra hype. It's decent, solid and a great option for the area but to go out of your way for and wait thirty minutes in line? Not really.
