Great local coffee shop in downtown Kalamazoo. Drinks, snacks, and vibe are all wonderful!

Coffee is just a necessity for me and this place makes great coffee. Saturday morning coffee and vegan options for pastries is a win in my book. A local business where the service has consistently been customer focused. The service is wonderful and informative. Knowledge of the ingredients of the food is key for a vegan with allergies. It always feels warm and friendly inside.

Very cute little cafe in downtown Kalamazoo. I popped in briefly on one of the coldest days of the year and walked in with a nearly frost bitten face and fingers. Hot chocolate was the only thing on my mind so I went with that. I'm a bit of a hot chocolate connoisseur and I have to say, this was some of the best I've ever had. Dark, creamy, and rich. Not too sweet and not too hot either. It was perfect. I sat down for a moment since I had a bit of time to kill and admired the space. Cookies were baking and filling the room with delicious scents and at the counter there was a handful of delectable looking sweet treats behind the glass. The decor is eclectic and filled with lots of cool pieces (like a piano) and mismatched wood. The staff that helped me out was beyond sweet as well. I didn't get to spend much time here but it made an impression, for sure. Looking forward to trying a sandwich or a tasty looking cookie next time I'm around. Or the dark drinking chocolate which I saw on the menu after I already ordered my traditional cup. I LIVE for a drinking chocolate!

After the third hour of conference, we were lucky enough to catch a break. My group decided to explore downtown Kalamazoo and grab a quick lunch. We stumbled upon Caffe Casa near Kalamazoo Mall. The place was quite interesting, very eccentric and calm at the same time. The walls were adorned with artwork exhibitions from local artists. The coffee place had the most comfortable couch and a working white piano for people to play delightful piece of music. The left wall facing the bar also showcased local pottery for sale and healthy foliage of cacti. I had the opportunity to talk to Kathy; she owns the coffee place together with her husband John. The couple has been operating the business for more than 20 years now. John and Kathy conscientiously believe in locally grown, sustainable and organic agriculture. Their goal is to provide high-quality and delectable food using local produce. Just talking to Kathy alone made me feel welcomed and cherished. It's the feeling that you don't usually encounter in most chain coffee establishments especially when visiting a city. She was a very genuine entrepreneur and her passion for the establishment and to the city as well, was awe-inspiring. I ordered the Veggie Croissant (with tomato, lettuce, shredded carrots, provolone cheese and homemade herb mayo) with the homemade vegetarian soup, their soup du jour. The sandwich was delicious, the thick sliced tomatoes tasted so fresh and the lettuce crisp. I also tried their gourmet chai tea. The Caffe Casa also offers delectable and scrumptious desserts. Kathy makes her own Famous No Bake Cookies and John also creates his Homemade Turtle Candy Bars. They also offer muffins, bagels, cookies and brownies... pure sinful goodness.... Yum!!! The restroom was well maintained and clean. Clay pots festooned the floor under the sink and gave it a homey feeling. I was impressed. Caffe Casa, one of the coziest coffee houses around Kalamazoo... and free wifi!!! I will definitely go back here again, given the chance to visit K-zoo again. I was able to fill my tummy & make friends at the same time. Good times!!!! =p http://www.caffecasa.net/index.html

LOVED THIS PLACE. When exploring downtown Kzoo for the first time, everyone recommended Caffe Casa. I have never been to a more welcoming cafe. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I loved all of the plants and local paintings coloring the decor and lemon ginger tea was AMAZING. This will be a regular stop for me without a doubt.

Simply love this cafe nested in the heart of Kalamazoo downtown! The coffee, food and ambience is great - perfect way to spend a summer morning. If you're in a big group they also have board games to keep you entertained! The best part about the food is that many things are homemade and are so yummy! They have a great spread of veggie items as well. We had the mocha, veggie croissant and veggie bagel sandwiches. The food was amazing. Croissant was huge and so soft and fresh - made us want to have more. The owner is also very nice and ensures to customize your order to your happiness and perfection! It's a perfect spot to have great coffee, food, sit back and enjoy Kalamazoo downtown.

Quick and nice service! I loved the club bagel sandwich so much. The hot chocolate was AMAZING! I am looking forward to coming back in the future.

Beautiful artwork on the walls and a variety of places to sit

Cool, comfy cafe right in the downtown with friendly service and good menu of sandwiches and salads. Vegetarian friendly and flexible with adapting ingredients. Small tea menu of black and green tea with a daily iced tea. Great place for a relaxing lunch.

My cappuccino was delicious, service was friendly, the cafe is cozy (albeit a bit too dark for my taste), and the bathroom large and clean.

Friendly and fast service, but not a lot of seating area. I had the Cafe Mocha, which was good, but not the best I've had either.

Great place for the best coffee in town! The owners are very eccentric and their personalities add to the unique environment of their shop.

I've heard great things about Sarkozy Bakery for years, but never had a chance to stop in since…read morethey close at 5 pm or earlier. We happened to be in town during lunch time so Nate and I stopped in for a quick bite. Their lunch menu includes some sandwiches, a couple salads, pizza, soup, and quiche. I got the ham and cheese sandwich, and Nate got an 8" pizza. The food came out pretty quickly, and I liked the sandwich. It had plenty of mayo and thickly sliced ham and cheese. It came with a little cup of pickled veggies, which I enjoyed. I had a bite of the pizza, which was very tasty! The prices were great - I think my sandwich was $7.50. We also got some pastries for dessert - I chose the cherry danish, and Nate got the pistachio croissant. Both were very tasty and not too sweet. The vibe of this bakery is more old-school and homey than some of the more "trendy" bakeries that I'm used to - not a bad thing, just a little different. They sell loaves of bread, cookies, and pastries. I loved their merch, too - cute pins, hats, tote bags, etc. They have brunch every Sunday and they were swapping out some art while we were there. It's a cute spot and I'm glad I finally got to check it out.

Best cake ever. Great customer service. 2nd time I have…read moreordered a cake from them, and both times everyone wants to know where I got it. I'll never go anywhere else.

A complete nightmare! BEWARE!!…read more The owner Amy is full of herself and has absolutely no professional etiquette whatsoever. Starting with her inability to answer straight forward questions and ending with her backing out of contract and cancelling our order 50 days before my wedding after I already paid the down payment! She cancelled the contract and refunded the down payment I made to hold the date - leaving us to find another cake vendor on short notice! Her excuse? She has worked "for Bert's for 42 years and made over 10,000 cakes and feels like no matter what she does, she won't make me happy." Photo attached. All I did was ask about the pricing for the samples because no other cake vendor had required payment for samples so I didn't know how much they cost. I also asked her which location we should visit to try the samples. Lastly, I told her that I couldn't believe that she was charging us the same amount to deliver the cake across the street as she would charge us if she were driving across town. I didn't say I wouldn't pay for delivery... I just told her I was surprised that she would do that. The other cake vendor we were considering wasn't charging us a delivery fee at all and they are located 30 miles away from our church! I was put off by how unprofessional she was from the beginning when I first reached out last fall. The only reason I decided to finally give Amy a chance is because she was cheaper and right across the street from our church. Now I understand, you get what you pay for...... because Amy is a MESS. Absolutely awful and I feel sorry for anyone who has had to deal with her. I saw in other reviews that she is described as rude, cheap, disorganized, snobby, and that she talks down to customers. I can confirm that she is ALL of these things and worse. The cake isn't even that good and at this point I'd rather buy one from Sam's Club than have to work with Amy and her staff. She doesn't send you a contract until you pay her a down payment, which is strange. Typically you create a contract/agreement, have both parties sign it, and then you ask for the deposit. The contract looked incredibly sketchy - Words were misspelled, font was all over the place, punctuation and grammar were hideous. Photo attached. Just so you know, AMY - Nobody cares HOW MANY YEARS you've been making cakes, HOW MANY CAKES you've made in your lifetime or HOW GREAT YOU THINK THEY TASTE if you continue to be a an inconsiderate, egotistical, uneducated, defensive, stubborn old woman who can't figure out how to treat people and keep your word. That's just bad business... I don't care who you are. I'll "wish you the best" as well...
