Very unprofessional service! The cashier refused to warm up our chocolate croissant saying ( today is busy and kitchen is crowded) very unprofessional !! I wanted to dine in and enjoy my food, and maybe order more things afterwards. but his behavior forced us to take our order to go . He implied it is better for us to leave. This is either racism or unprofessionalism!!

Love Sarkozy's! So happy they've done so well after the terrible fire years ago. This location is lovely and people seem to flock here for their delicious treats. Thank you for giving us your wonderful baked goods and love. Judy is amazing and always a joy to see running everywhere around town.

LOVE this place. Everything you can try is GREAT! Especially in the summer, get a loaf of the oatmeal bread for the best BLTs you've ever made. :) I love the croissants. In the summers, you can also find Sarkozy Bakery at the farmer's markets.

I remember the morning when we learned Sarkozy's burnt down. We had seen a concert the night before in Ann Arbor, and that morning as we drove home we decided to stop at the bakery on Burdick Street. We were driving on King's Highway heading toward town when we saw that we were getting closer to what looked like a fog bank. Except it wasn't fog, it was smoke. We thought it might be Mr. President's or the Rickman House, but then we realized it was the Sarkozy bakery. Sarkozy's is one of those iconic businesses in Kalamazoo. I suppose bakeries are like that. I think of the long time Country Maid Bakery on Portage Road that way. I would guess that one of the fears of customers, once it reopened, was that Sarkozy's would be unable to replicate its old recipes. There was a story circulating, which I am not sure was true or not, that the original recipes were lost in the fire or were perhaps never even written down. I think people were reassured when the bakery restarted several years later that the Sarkozy product had returned. But I find the new location downtown less than accessible; parking can be a challenge. So I usually get stuff at one of their outlet locations, like the Parkview D&W. Our faves are the various coffee cakes (cherry, raspberry, cinnamon), the Oatmeal Bread, the Challah Bread, and the round French Bread. I like the cookies and the bakery favors a flat, very crisp style of cookie. Judy Sarkozy often provides the cookies for Gilmore Festival events, and so I find having one or two satiates me at intermissions and that keeps me from buying and eating six. My girl believes everything that emerges out of the bakery is always overbaked, so she thinks everything is always this side of too dry. The coffee cakes are very much like that. The last thing we bought from Sarkozy was something new to us: a challah round with golden raisins. I hope it's seasonal because I could eat that year round, toasted slathered with butter, and that would probably greatly annoy my physician.

Best bakery in Kalamazoo for 40+ years, especially for old world style breads, their mainstay from the beginning.

Just ate a BLT at Sarkozy's, today's sandwich special. OMG, so good! The bread did it. Life's too short to eat bad bread!

Best cake ever. Great customer service. 2nd time I have…read moreordered a cake from them, and both times everyone wants to know where I got it. I'll never go anywhere else.

A complete nightmare! BEWARE!!…read more The owner Amy is full of herself and has absolutely no professional etiquette whatsoever. Starting with her inability to answer straight forward questions and ending with her backing out of contract and cancelling our order 50 days before my wedding after I already paid the down payment! She cancelled the contract and refunded the down payment I made to hold the date - leaving us to find another cake vendor on short notice! Her excuse? She has worked "for Bert's for 42 years and made over 10,000 cakes and feels like no matter what she does, she won't make me happy." Photo attached. All I did was ask about the pricing for the samples because no other cake vendor had required payment for samples so I didn't know how much they cost. I also asked her which location we should visit to try the samples. Lastly, I told her that I couldn't believe that she was charging us the same amount to deliver the cake across the street as she would charge us if she were driving across town. I didn't say I wouldn't pay for delivery... I just told her I was surprised that she would do that. The other cake vendor we were considering wasn't charging us a delivery fee at all and they are located 30 miles away from our church! I was put off by how unprofessional she was from the beginning when I first reached out last fall. The only reason I decided to finally give Amy a chance is because she was cheaper and right across the street from our church. Now I understand, you get what you pay for...... because Amy is a MESS. Absolutely awful and I feel sorry for anyone who has had to deal with her. I saw in other reviews that she is described as rude, cheap, disorganized, snobby, and that she talks down to customers. I can confirm that she is ALL of these things and worse. The cake isn't even that good and at this point I'd rather buy one from Sam's Club than have to work with Amy and her staff. She doesn't send you a contract until you pay her a down payment, which is strange. Typically you create a contract/agreement, have both parties sign it, and then you ask for the deposit. The contract looked incredibly sketchy - Words were misspelled, font was all over the place, punctuation and grammar were hideous. Photo attached. Just so you know, AMY - Nobody cares HOW MANY YEARS you've been making cakes, HOW MANY CAKES you've made in your lifetime or HOW GREAT YOU THINK THEY TASTE if you continue to be a an inconsiderate, egotistical, uneducated, defensive, stubborn old woman who can't figure out how to treat people and keep your word. That's just bad business... I don't care who you are. I'll "wish you the best" as well...
