We visited Kalamazoo for the KVBA showcase and stayed the night at TRU Hotel (separate review to follow) and the next morning we stopped at Sweetwater's for coffee and a few donuts...it's the day before Fat Tuesday and they were ramping up pazackis and king cakes, but they still had fresh donuts and fritters so we ordered an apple fritter. Perfecto! Exactly what we needed for the trip back to Macomb Township. Thanks for the nosh and we'll be back! read more

Sweetwater's Donut Mill - Medium coffee and a HUGE apple fritter - Donuts Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

This is legit donut bakery. Everything we tried devoured because it was so tasty. Plus they have a wonderful selection of unique donuts like strawberry cheesecake, nutter butter, mint grasshopper plus all the traditional favorites. Kalamazoo has some incredible eateries! I'll be back. read more

It was awesome. THE DONUTS WERE DELICIOUS! I'd love to go there again! Also, there was great service!

A true go to for donuts! We specifically go to this one on Sprinkle Road, the service is the best here and the donuts are always fresh. Been going here since I was little with my dad. I definitely recommend going early morning when there's less foot traffic and the donuts are the most fresh! read more

Sweetwater's Donut Mill - Half 1/2 Dozen Donuts (L-R) Boston Cream x2 Red Velvet x2 and White Cloud x2 - Donuts Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

What a cute little stop our way home. They had these amazing donuts for only $1.50. Reese's, Goldie grahams and something called the Homer Simpson. Then they had these huge cinnamon rolls and fritters. I had to get a half dozen. The lady behind the counter reminded me of my husband's grandmother. Sweet place. Highly recommend this place to stop and get a half or full dozen. read more

Was looking for donuts and this place was highly rated. The donuts are ok, they're on the dry and bland side. The large apple fritter looked appealing but was mediocre. The glazed donut tasted stale and the glaze was melted/soaked into the donut, very unappetizing. We gave them a 2nd try a few weeks later and they were still stale/dry. I was disappointed to get subpar donuts. The hours make it convenient if you're randomly craving a donut, otherwise I probably wouldn't bother. read more

Best donut I've had in years!! A vibrant array of delicious yeasty creations lined the walls and counter. We made a quick pit stop during a long road trip and I am going to dream of returning. I had a glazed donut with chocolate frosting, it was fresh, perfectly sweet and pillowy soft! A perfect donut. read more

The donuts are decent but they really aren't that great, they're nothing special. The prices are way too high for what you get. They're Meijer quality donuts for WAY more. The only bonus above Meijer is there's more variety, but that doesn't make up for the price. I think people only love this place because they feel like they're supposed to love it. read more

This is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so solves a problem if you need coffee and a pick me up sugary treat at an odd time. The national recognition these donuts is well deserved. There is a huge selection of freshly made delights to those from. The place had an army of what looked like high school students hopping to get their jobs done at 6:45 am Sunday morning. These are worth the calories!!! read more

BEST DOUGHNUTS EVER AND ANYWHERE. Local shop, with very reasonable prices. This will be the best doughnut you've ever had. Every time I am home this is where I come to first. read more

Great service. Always fresh donuts. They always have such a great selection of donuts and the price is right as well.

Consistency seems to be the biggest problem Sweetwater's has. Often times, we'll stop for a donut after visiting the chiropractor--sometimes thedonuts are fresh and delicious! A true 5* donut. Other times, we go in and get a stale, flat hard donut. A true 1* donut. Shelves should be checked regularly. Donuts are only fresh for so long and then they become flat and greasy rather than delicious. I know Covid has made staffing difficult, but this is something that should be a priority--producing and serving quality donuts. read more

Not your run of the mill donut shop. Many employees all eagerly awaiting to help us. The blueberry muffins had just come fresh out of the oven. The fritters are quite literally the size of your head. The donut selection is huge and very affordable for how big/how many ingredients they contain. I was very disappointed in their coffee selection. They had black coffee & a cappuccino. I ordered the cappuccino only to find out it came out of a machine like a gas station cappuccino. They have syrups and creamers to make your own flavored drinks but it's all self service. Overall it was delicious but the coffee let me down read more

Old school donut shop minus the full service ...and good donuts. back in the day there were lots of places where you could pull up a seat at the counter and get a donut-n-coffee. Most of those shops have disappeared and been replaced by corporate chains that make their donuts in distribution centers. From the outside Sweetwater Donut Mill looked to be a welcome blast from the past. Alas, it did not quite measure up. They had an impressive array of donuts in a big glass case behind the register - and that's where you have to place your order. That was a little disappointing. They don't wait on you at the counter - you have to collect your order at the register and then go sit . As for the donut quality - I got one with some kind of Irish Creme mint topping which I burped up for the next 4 hours. And the Apple Crumb donut I got was stale. So...uh...not good. They do seem to have a healthy crowd of regulars so its possible I just picked badly. But ultimately I didn't find it to be any more worthwhile than the aforementioned chain places. read more

I see someone gave this amazing DONUT shop a 3 star review because their COFFEE wasn't up to their Starbucks standards. Imagine hurting a small town stores rep over something as silly as that. The service was great. Walked in and was greeted helped right away. I hate being around people( because they do idiotic things like leave 3 star reviews because coffee at a donut shop) so I didn't go and overly inspect the store, but it looked nice and clean from what I could see. But truly, these donuts are amazing. I bought 3 because I can normally easily handle that. These things are HUGE! 3 monstrous donuts for less than 5 bucks. I wish I lived near here so I could come back. read more

Fantastic donuts. This location in battle creek wide variety of donuts. Everything seems fresh

Idk if it was an off day or bc we came in the evening but I was not impressed. I thought the fritter I had at the Battle Creek location was the best I've ever had but these were just as big but fewer nooks and crannies and less crispy outside like we like. Cake donuts were dry. Wouldn't get them again. The apple crumb was very tasty and I would still stop in the area for the raspberry fritter but I wouldn't make a special trip for how they were yesterday. read more

I ordered a half dozen Paczkis last Thursday. The 3 banana ones had raw dough in the center. The chocolate, cream cheese, and the king cake were okay. I made a comment under their Facebook post stating this and added a picture. They deleted it and blocked me. Personnel very friendly... Donuts monstrous! Huge variety of off the beaten path flavors... donuts were good but one should be prepared for a sugar rush! Super sweet... We were in town and found this hidden gem by googling donut shops nearby. We got half a dozen donuts. The ones that I tried all seemed a bit sweet. All of them were good though. It may have just been the kinds that I tried, but they were sweeter than normal donuts. Unfortunately I do t know what kinds of donuts we had as I stayed in the car when he went to get them. read more

Soooo glad I don't live closer as I would be as big as a house if I did! Best cake donuts EVER! I love a cake donut, but so many of them are fried with bad oil and leave a film in your mouth. Sweetwater's Donut Mill - 24 donut holes for $5.49... they are a golfball and a half in size! - Donuts Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

In the words of Homer Simpson, mmmmmm....donuts.  No matter which location you go to, Sweetwater doughnuts is the right choice when in Kalamazoo and it would be a tragity to miss out.  Both locations are great so just go the whichever is closest. I love their limited time doughnuts and basically any doughnut involving peanut butter.  On my last visit (October 20th) they had cereal inspired Boo-berry doughnuts which were amazing.  The first doughnut I ever got at Sweetwater was a reese cake doughnut with a peanut butter whip and pieces of reese on top. Over the years they have made various different reese doughnuts and I always enjoyed them all.  I will definitely continue coming to Sweetwater. read more

I used to love this donut shop and don't get me wrong they're still really good (the yeast donuts), but my usual favorite 'the Homer Simpson' has had some poor changes made to it. The last several times I've had it, and this is spread out over maybe 6 months, the glaze has been completely different. What used to be nice yummy thick glazed icing has been changed to a really thin dark pink glaze that looks watered down. It's so thin it crumbles and cracks off the top of the donut as you try to hold it or pick it up. Really poor decision to change that as it was a signature donut & I hope they fix it. read more

Best donuts in Michigan. The Dutch crumb are to die for! Love how they offer donut holes for blueberry and Dutch crumb.

These donuts are pretty legit. There is a great variety of flavors and styles (traditional, cake, holes, specialty), and everything we tried was delicious. The donuts are probably close to a 5/5, but the atmosphere is a 2 or 3 (dated decor and paint). If some attention went into the interior, this place could be a serious destination. For now it is just a great place to pick up donuts. read more

Donut worry, I will leave this review. I mean how many places can you say are open 24 hours and are donut places? Whether you are getting a donut in the morning before school or work, in the afternoon for lunch or 4am after a fun Friday or Saturday night. This is the place to go. I love the Chocolate Glaze Ring. I love the yeast donuts the best! I am slowly moving away from cake donuts in general, and I am finding more and more types of yeast donuts at Sweetwaters. I feel in love with Sweetwater's at the Donut and Beer fest and now that I live in Kalamazoo. I like to make my way there from time to time. The only negative thing about the yeast donuts is sometimes the jelly-filled or frosting filled ones make the bottom soggy because of the thinness between the filling and the bottom layer of the donut. It is mainly on where they fill the donuts and the bottom layer. It is not the worst thing but it can be if you are getting 6 to share for later. It can lead to being soggy. Overall: I give this place 4 stars and will be back for sure. Because I love donuts and Sweetwaters. read more

Sweetwater's Donut Mill has so many different and cool flavors! The dough is not the most delicious I've had in my life but it is quite tasty. What makes Sweetwater's so special in my mind is all the creative flavors they have. Don't worry donut duds, they have all the usual standards and classics for ya, too! Cool flavors include a plethora of candy bar tastes - Carmello (Nomz), Reese's (Double Nomz), Mounds, Snickers and more. My personal favorite of my trip was the Grasshopper - mint frosting drizzled with chocolate on a chocolate cake donut. One donut is 94 cents...a dozen is $7.89. I'm pretty good at math and I'm going to give you a pro-tip that getting a dozen makes the most dollar and cents sense. If you're looking for a late night binge, they are open 24 hours. What's more, they have a convenient drive thru. read more

Two years since my last visit and this place has still MFin' got it! Did I just get covered in a heavy dusting of powdered sugar compliments of the vanilla angel? YOU BET I DID! Did I stare at my sweater covered in the white stuff and contemplate, for a brief moment, licking that ish clean? SURE DID. Did we just walk out with a dozen donuts in flavors like NY Cheesecake, Red Velvet, S'Mores and more? YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT WE DID. Was it less than 10 dollars? HECK YES. What a bargin! The car smells so heavenly. I'm not sure the box we took is going to make it to our friend's/host's place in Chicago. Reeses peanut butter cup donut, your days are numbered. read more
