There are only a handful of places you can get tres leches in the Kalamazoo area and this small bakery is one of them! Everything in this bakery is fresh and bursting with flavor. The staff is very nice and the bakery selections are very reasonably priced. We had the tres leches (3) and selected a cookie (1) running just short of $9. The cake was super moist and the milk helped to round out the dish very nicely. I highly recommend trying it out and at $2.50 you can't go wrong. I will definitely be coming back here for all my sweet tooth needs! read more

Small hole in the wall bakery that's just ok, if I'm being completely honest. There's not really much spectacular about this place. Stumbled upon this place one day looking for tamales since our local go to was sold out for the day. Got the tamales, some conchas and some champurrado. The champurrado was great. Not to sweet, and perfect for the cold weather. The conchas again were just ok. A little extra dry and crumbly for some reason. But the flavor was decent. The tamales on the other hand were the worst. The masa was sticking to the wrapper and there was hardly any meat in it. Literally the worst tamales I've ever had. Decided not to judge them based on the tamales since this is a bakery, my husbands bday was coming up and he wanted a tres leches cake covered in fruit. Called and placed the order for the cake explained exactly what I wanted, the man said oh yeah we can do that no problem. The day came to pick up the cake I got there maybe 5 before my pick up time and the cake wasn't ready, this made me a bit happy because that meant, at least to me, that they were taking their time. I waited maybe another 30'mins for the cake and in that time I see someone leave to go to the store around the corner to grab a can of peaches. I didn't think much of it till finally my cake came out. He opened the box to show me the cake that had a very sloppy happy birthday written on it and 4 peaches . . . . That's it, that's all the fruit I got on it. Knowing how sometimes my face tells the story before the words come out my mouth I quickly gathered my composure, said thank you and left. My husband said "babe, maybe the flavor is what they are know for" so I just let it be till we finally cut into the cake to try it. Tres leches cakes are supposed to be some of the moistest cakes you eat, this by far was one of the driest I've ever had. The flavor was so basic and you could hardly taste even one leche in the cake. Any ways lessoned learned. Do not think I will be coming back. read more

We have been going to this place for the past four years and it has never occurred to me to give a review. They have a selection of Mexican pastry which are just simply delicious. Flan and a slice of cake are my faves from this store. The customer service is great as well. Tip: if you're a fan of tamales, they have Chicken and pork specials on Saturday mornings and while supplies last. I personally love chicken tamales more because of the sauce and it's shredded chicken. I wished they could get the old cook back for the tamales. The tamales have been very doughy for the past one and a half years but can't resist it so I still get them. Give it a try on Saturday morning. It's 1.25~1.50 per tamales. Great deal! read more

Fabulous bakery! Everything I have had here is wonderful. The tres leches cake is top notch with filling options including peach (my family's favorite) and pricing is fair. It is helpful to have someone who speaks Spanish nearby if you are calling. They do have employees who do not speak English fluently over the phone - but I have NEVER run into a challenge in the store. I don't speak Spanish and I have been able to patronize them multiple times. I did have to enlist help to special order a birthday cake over the phone. While not the largest Mexican bakery we've ever seen, Azteca is still full of sweet treats at INSANE PRICES. They have cookies, empenadas, sweet breads and cake, among other baked goods, all housed in wooden sliding-door cabinets. The store was clean and bright. Azteca is right next door to La Mexicana Market, and it's a great place to get a nice dessert after having some delicious food. read more

This little bakery brings back so many childhood memories. They have an assortment of Mexican pastries baked daily and affordable prices. Though most of their inventory is Mexican sweets, they also sell some Mexican ingredients for cooking. So glad that this little shop assist in my neck of the woods. Highly recommend. read more

This is a little Mexican bakery on Portage St. The baked goods are done rather well, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. They also have those Mexican frozen fruit popsicles! Watermelon happens to be my favorite. read more
