Found this place after hiking on AT. Lots of mexican dishes. My friend and I went with american sandwiches. Food was good served with chips. Service seemed slow even though working at reduced capacity. Waited long time for food and I was starving. Waitress did bring me a pitcher of water since I kept emptying my glass. The breakfast here has been great and there were a lot of different options so we thought that we'd go for dinner. This was a big mistake. The only thing on the menu was Mexican food - which was fine, although rather disappointing because we thought there'd be more options like for breakfast. We are both allergic to artificial coloring and most of the food had something with red dye in it. We then ordered a steak quesadilla and a grilled pork quesadilla because they seemed to be safe options. The pork one had something red all over it (there was no warning ) The food was tasteless and very expensive ($37) for what we got. The side salads that were supposed to come with the quesadillas were literally just lettuce, a few tomatoes, and onions thrown on the plate. I've been wanting to try this cafe for a long time and decided to stop by for lunch today. The place is in a nice location, has good atmosphere and people behind the counter were nice but the grilled cheese I ordered was the worst I've ever had! It looked like the cook had taken two pieces of bread, no butter or anything, with two pieces of processed cheese and thrown them on the grill for about 30 seconds. It came to me with zero toasting and the cheese wasn't even melted. They made a new one for me(nice of them to try) which was melted and toasted (still just plain bread)but without any flavor. I just couldn't eat it. The pickle on the plate and the coffee were good. I never thought anyone could mess up a grilled cheese but obviously I was wrong. I won't be back. read more

Arrived w a friend at 2:45. Had to ask for fresh coffee, even though I was told they had just brewed some. (Carafe was empty). Sandwich was tasty, but cookies my friend purchased were inedible- rock hard. Staff cleared away coffee and started mopping around us at 3:25, and we finally left/got pushed out at 3:45. This place is always awesome, and the employees are always polite and personable. If you come here, the coffee is a must (one of the best in the area), and their eggs benedict is also spectacular! What a jewel to find in Boiling Springs. Excellent food, very accommodating staff, and an incredible value for the quality of the food! Our table enjoyed orders of shrimp fajitas, chicken and shrimp fajitas (we skipped the beef that would normally be included) and a kid's order of chicken fingers with fries. First, the servings were very large and the food was fresh and delicious. They were the best fajitas I've ever had and even the tenders / fries were tasty and I don't normally like fried food. The server was quick and attentive even though she was the only server working while we were there. I was surprised with a complementary dessert for my birthday. All in all one of the best meals out since I moved into the area 4 years ago. We will definitely be back!! read more

The chef is wonderful. We have been here many times and the food is never disappointing. The service is sometimes odd and irregular, but that is a minor annoyance for such great food. A frequent customer because they food is so good, but I think I am finally done. Went last Sunday, sat down and waited on immediately. Today, there were 7 of us. Moved from a table on the grass (after waiting for service for over 15 mins) to the patio. I alerted the staff we moved. We waited another 30 minutes. One of our party went in and told them we needed to be waited on. With an attitude he was asked if we checked in. He said we had 30 mins before. "Really?" Yes, really. They gave him one menu but again, no service. I went back in and a staff member informed me that we couldn't get breakfast now because it was 11. We had been there since 10:15!! We left. They lost 7 customers, most of whom live in BS. Love the food but the hassle isn't worth it. Not to management: PLEASE post that people need to check in at counter, and stay consistent. Every single weekend is different! Some weekends you have to check in, some you don't. People don't have 45 minutes to be waited on, no matter the food quality. Also polite and knowledgeable service goes a long way. read more

We love the new Mexican menu! They have kept many of the same breakfast and lunch items from the old Caffe 101, but added an excellent dinner menu. This is hands down the best Mexican food I've had in central Pa, if not on a much wider scale. I highly recommend the crab enchiladas verde, which are full of lump crab meat and a tomatillo avocado lime dressing. Bring your own beverage to enjoy while you enjoy dinner on the patio overlooking the lake. The staff is very friendly and competent as well. They just need to post their new menu online and add this Yelp listing to the Mexican food category to get the word out! read more

I get that they're a small cafe but I have given it two chances and both were horrible. Went in the afternoon during the week, was one of maybe 3 people there - took 30 minutes for the waitress to even take our order, then we waited over an hour for the food. I was late for an appointment and had to leave so I didn't even get the food after sitting there for an hour and a half. I asked for a coffee to go, they didn't even offer to give it to me after waiting, and then EVERY SINGLE COFFEE DISPENSER WAS EMPTY. HOW DOES A CAFE NOT EVEN HAVE COFFEE? I gave up and left. People have bad days though, so I went back recently to see if it was any different. Just wanted a coffee, and after waiting in line for 45 minutes I gave up and left. They either need to hire more staff or seriously rethink how they are running that place. Besides the horrible service and ungodly wait times, their food is overpriced. I'm not sure what happened to this place but it's really gone down hill. Previously we would bring our son here every week for breakfast. The food options were amazing and the atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday breakfast. In the last few months every time we have gone in we were confused how we should order as there was a waitress but also self serve beverages and self table clearing. Also, the food quality gone down considerably. I don't think we will be returning which is a shame because our favorite summertime activity was getting breakfast at the cafe and walking around the lake with our son. I would skip it. read more

OH this was a special foodie spot. Small but cozy dining room. The hand-written special board loaded with Mexican dishes. Had the fish tacos which were crunchy and loaded wth tasty moist fish. Sides of guacamole and really hot sauce were perfect. The mushroom soup was the best I've ever had-creamy with rich mushroom flavor. Others had the Vern which if I remember was the loaded sandwich on a hearty roll-didn't talk while eating-good sign! The taco bowl was also a good mix of meat and salad items in a crispy shell. Really tasty! Finally, the breakfast sandwich was unique and flavorful on a toasty roll. We'll definitely wander by there again. Plenty to choose from American favs to Mexican fare. read more

The perfect place for a cup of coffee or a bite to eat. An extensive menu offering up food for any appetite or age. Breakfast is my favorite, from the fresh made omelettes, stuffed french toast, eggs Benedict, or the baked oatmeal. The coffee can be as simple as you want it or be adventurous and try the Mexican hot cocoa. Lunch has never been disappointing either. Sandwiches, soups, and fresh made salads. The caffe offers inside and outside dining with free wifi and the wait staff is always smiling. I recommend to grab a seat out on the patio to enjoy the views of Children's Lake where copious amounts of water fowl swim and where you can hear the chimes from the Veterans Tower. Don't be surprised though to see an AT hiker or two quickly taking in some fresh hot coffee and delicious muffins before they head back out on their journey- be sure to ask them about it! read more

This place opened when we moved to the area, and it was great. Slightly high on price, but the convenience made up for that. Since then, the prices have gone up at least twice, and the service has gone down. They've even gone so far as to stop posting the prices since they're constantly increasing. I've waited over 30 minutes there to get a bowl of soup and a sandwich, which is not easy when you have kids. Even worse is the fact that the food is nothing special. The $9 Turkey Sandwich my wife recently got was good, but not $9 worth of good. $6? Maybe. The bottom line for me is that I'd rather drive into Carlisle and get Panera for less money than patronize a local store, and that's tough to write. Do yourself a favor and drive the 5 miles over to Mount Holly and check out Crumbs. It's everything Cafe 101 used to be, plus they make their own bread. read more

This was our third visit. First two were nice; great food and okay service. This visit was awful. They clearly didn't have the air conditioning on and the dining area was full of flies. The waitress came over immediately and took our order and brought drinks, but that was the last time we saw her until our food came...over a half hour later. One of us was skipped, and had to go ask about her meal. The waitress didn't seem to realize she hadn't brought food for her! When we asked, there was no apology, and the girl at the counter seemed annoyed. They did bring a salad over so she had something to eat. We waited another ten minutes, and by now everyone was done. She asked for her meal to go and received an attitude. Again, no apology. We asked three times for boxes and then had to go back to the counter and ask for the check. At the counter there was another patron complaining of the same thing. Wait staff is way too young, and more interested in chatting amongst themselves than anything else. The food will bring people in, but to get them to stay you need to care about waiting on them. read more

Asked for mug no one brought one. Had to ask again. When i did she acted annoyed. Have now been here for over 45 minutes and no food or refill on drinks. One hour 10 minutes to get 2 wraps. Love the new Mexican menu. This is authentic Mexican food at it's best. The Shrimp Tacos and Steak Fajitas (order the Fajitas with all the extra add ons) are two of the best dishes I've ever had, anywhere. They now offer dinner service until 9:00 p.m, which is awesome! It's BYOB, the staff is super friendly, and the pet friendly outdoor seating is so pleasant and relaxing. My husband and I make the 20 minute drive here at least once a week, sometimes two or three if our schedules permit, it is that good! read more

I was recently in town to visit a friend and had a delicious lunch at the Café. Really, very good. Service was fine. I paid the bill and inadvertently left my credit card on the table but had taken my receipt. When I realized I had forgotten my card, I went back to the Café to inquire if I had left my card. I did and the waitress promptly returned the card to me. BUT, when I get home and was checking my credit card charges, I saw a large withdrawal from my account. Further research revealed that the card had been compromised. Someone had used it to take a withdrawal and wire money to another country. I contacted my credit card company and they are researching the transactions but what a disappointment. Such a nice lunch and now money stolen from my account. Food is good but don't use any credit or debit cards here. Use CASH only. read more

We normally go to Aniles right down the road and to be honest I never even noticed that cafe 101 was there cuz it blends in. But anyway I've been there 3 times now and it is well decorated and a very cute place! It looks modern. Yes, the food is kinda pricey but it's good food. It's pretty much all homemade (which is the best!). It's also in the center of town by the lake and you can sit inside or out. Love the outdoor seating! Great place to sit on a nice day. The coffee is okay, but the food could be much better. The last time I went the avocado on the sandwich I ordered was terrible. I think it was canned, ugh! And I can't stand that they use phyllo dough as the crust to their quiche. It's always soggy! Chicken salad finally came a la Mexican style with tortilla chips, roasted corn, seasoned chicken and romaine lettuce. My family and I have searched high and low for a good place to get Mexican food since moving to PA and our search has finally ended in our own backyard. I had the Tacos al pastor and my husband had the carnitas tacos. All I can say is that even though I was stuffed after two tacos, I had to eat the third. The tacos are packed full of fresh ingredients. Everything you hope for in a great taco! I cannot wait to try the rest of the menu. This place is "new" so please call for the new open times. Delicious! Sister and my 13 mo old really enjoyed the easy, relaxed feel of the cafe. Sister had the clam chowder which was packed full of fish and clams. Very good. Also the ham and Gouda sandwich special. My portobello wrap was super creamy with goat cheese and marinated veggies inside. Son loved the quiche, easy for a toddler to eat. Would love to go again! I love this place, although one time I was attacked by a Trump supporter. The story starts on a sunny afternoon in the late of June. I walk into to enjoy my every week bagel and frap. I noticed a man wearing a Trump hat. Now as a registered democrat I didn't mind Trump supporters because I believe in no violence. I walked to order the regular but the man stops me and says I will go first not you. I was shocked and confused and said "sir, I was in line first". Hoping that the truth would work the man yells "How dare you disrespect me". Scared I proceeded to order. The man then yells with force in his voice "I go first". Then the man proceeded to unbuckle his buckle then pulled his pants down. The man exposed himself to me! We then called the police after he began running around the small care screaming for trump! Although I love this place to eat, I will never go again because of the uncomfortable feeling I felt that day. Would recommend this place but watch out for the Trump supporters.
