Stopped by with a small group this weekend. We went inside to check in and waited to be told to wait some more for a table. We don't recall seeing anyone sitting inside so we weren't sure what the problem was with sitting down. Eventually one of the servers came to wipe off one of many empty tables before we sat down. We were here for more than 25 minutes from the time we arrived until getting menus. Knowing I wanted to go out to eat supper with Jenni, I figured we were unlikely to get food for another 30 minutes after already waiting 25 minutes just to be sat so I decided to bugger off and have something small elsewhere so as not to spoil my appetite for supper. I've eaten here in the past and when things go well, it's delightful. Sad, dirty, over priced, snarky staffers. Food was dull, barely warm, small serving for the $ Server never brought plates, napkins. When I asked for a plate she handed me a dripping wet saucer. Eh...lived in area my entire life...my first visit and not impressed. Ordered three drinks. The girl went away and came back with iced tea, a cup full of ice and an empty cup. She basically threw the tea at me and left go before I barely had it in my hand. Then she disappeared. She returned and took food out to dining area. She returned, carried the two cups around the corner and then delivered more food. She did this for 10 minutes. I don't know how people are taught these days, but in my day you complete the order you took and then move on. I served for years and would never leave a customer stand 10-15 minutes waiting on a drink. Have another server deliver...finish the task at hand. To beat it all she apparently forgot what she was making because we had to go back to get the caramel added to the caramel coffee! There isn't a lot of options in boiling springs for food, but cafe 101 is a great choice. They have a great selection of American and Mexican food. They have great outdoor seating in the summer and can be very busy with through hikers on the AT. They have good service and are family owned. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner there! read more

We headed over here for lunch after visiting nearby resort. After hearing about how this was a Boiling Springs historical staple, we gave it a visit. Unfortunately , it was very underwhelming, in food and in service. They were not accommodating with our young children, as no booster or high chair was available. We ordered "Mexican" food, but being from Texas, there was very little Mexican about it. The flavors were extremely bland. Taco salad did not include a protein, which for chicken was an additional $3.50. Steak would have been $4.50. Prices were steep for what it was. At least walking around the place was nice. read more

First and probably last time here... Didn't know how the seating and all worked so went inside to ask. Employee told us to go sit where we want and they would come out and give us menus shortly. Waited for about 10 mins and got tired of waiting so went back in for the menus. Got the menus and ordered. Food came out quick. I got Caesar salad wrap. Tasted cheap, the dressing tastes really cheap. If they would just get a better dressing the whole wrap would be better. The chicken in the wrap was too salty. But the chips were so bland and needs more salt. Iced latte was okay. Once we got the check, no one came back out to get the money. So once again had to go inside and pay. We called in for queso and chips . $11.11!!!!!! For chips and cheese!! The cheese was way too thin ( watered down ) it used to be thicker and would stay on the chip . I was there with a friend a month ago she ordered a cheese sandwich ( she didn't want any lunch meat so she asked if they could substitute it with just cheese) they put 2 slices of cheese on her toasted bread and the crust was so hard she had to take off the crust! Quality and quantity has gone downhill unfortunately will not be giving them any more of our business. read more

This is a small restaurant so could wait on a busier night for a table as they don't take reservations. The parking lot is attached to the side of the restaurant, there Is also a small outside area. The price point I think is a bit much for a Mexican restaurant. I got the sampler 101 for $17.50, I would have liked if the quesdilla that came with had meat in them, besides the quesdillas everything was very delicious. My fiance got the enchiladas nortenas for $16.50, he said it was good, however didn't feel well after eating it. I think ended with a caramel frappe for $6.25 which was pretty delicious. I'm not sure if I'd return the prices are pretty steep. read more

Amazing Mexican food. One of my family's favorite places to eat. The food is always good and the service is friendly and attentive.

I met some friends today at Cafe 101 because it was a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy some sunshine.. our waitress did not come to us as we all sat down closed our menus and we're ready to order. unfortunately the service. was nothing but poor the food they served us. although we modified some things, the price that they charged us was definitely not worth It . We sat with our dirty dishes on our table, we never got refills on our drink. when she did bring the refills there was no ice put into our iced tea. Don't recommend this place. It has gone downhill severely. sorry 101 do better . read more

I've been here a few times now - sampling different items in order to find my 'go-to' dish...still looking;) Everything I've tried has been primo - on this visit I went with one of the wraps ...great again! Venue is terrific with a nice patio overlooking the lake across the street. Service has always been stellar as well. Note for first-time visitors, figuring out how to get seated is tricky ...currently you go inside to a counter near the kitchen to ask for your table. After that, it's pretty much smooth sailin' - wait staff has always been attentive albeit busy! There are a lot of great choices - may take a few visits to find your favorite! read more

Very disappointed in their breakfast food. Food was cold, eggs Benedict overcooked when I asked for runny eggs. Also muffins were dry since there wasn't enough sauce for them too. Hollandaise sauce watery and cool. Needed it reheated. Not enough for eggs. Waitress not attentative enough asking if we needed more coffee. This is the second time this has happened. My friend's food was cold too and when she asked for more Hollandaise, they charged her. Not sure how they make their coffee but it was not in pots but a small pitcher. read more

The only thing better than the service was the food. Everything was on point. Excellent portion size and our whole party enjoyed everything. I had the carnitas and they were some of the best/most authentic tacos I've had. Our server was incredible. Three out of four of us had food allergies. One couldn't eat dairy and one was celiac. Took my daughter out for dinner. Haven't been here in a while. Perfect day to sit outside, but those tables were almost full, so we opted for sitting indoors. Greeted sweetly by staff. Friendly knowledgeable waitress. We ordered blanco queso with tortilla chips for an appetizer, and cheese quesadillas and a chicken burrito for dinner. Delicious! But the queso was too salty for me after a few tries. I mixed it up with the provided spoon and it only seemed to get saltier, so I took the rest home for my husband. Really great place to enjoy. Reasonable prices. I recommend bringing cash to pay so you'll save 4%. Highly recommend this restaurant. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner! read more

This is a little gem in Boiling Springs right next to the lake. I love this little town and it's ambience, and having good eats there as well is a bonus. Really good Mexican food made fresh to order. I ordered the Burrito Verde last time; veggie. It was amazing but with all the chips and salsa and Sopes appetizer I could only eat half but that was good since I got to eat leftovers the next day!!! Indoor and outdoor seating available and of course restrooms in the back. They also have a walk up to order ice cream, coffees/teas and pastries to go if you'd like. Would be great on a hot day to order a ice cream then take a stroll around the picturesque lake. read more

Caffe 101 is one of my favorite places to eat on a warm day. They have a nice patio that overlooks the lake. Their menu has a variety of American and Mexican food. My favorite is the vegetarian tacos. The service can be hit or miss. I had a female server completely ghost me a few weeks ago in the middle of my meal. I waited about twenty minutes for her to return so I could ask for a a drink refill. My food was cold by the time I flagged down a male coworker for another drink. He was fantastic and picked up her slack. She did return over an hour later like nothing happened. It's important to know that if you pay with a credit card, they charge you an extra fee. read more

We went to breakfast with a large group on the Saturday before Easter; six adults and seven kids. We sat outside and really enjoyed the view of the children's lake. The kids ran around in the grassy area while we waited for our food Everything we ordered was delicious! It's a lovely location, but unfortunately that's about all it has going for it at this point. Server did not write anything down which resulted in items bring incorrect or missing completely. The worst being the pancakes for the 2 year old that did not arrive until everyone was done eating. We had to ask for waters 3 or four times and waited 20 mins and had to specifically ask if we could order food. The food itself is also just mediocre at best. Mostly bland and, although food came out at staggered times, some was cold including hollandaise sauce on eggs benedict. We have been here a few times and had already decided not to come back for dinner because of the food, but alas we will not be back at all despite its convenience and lovely location. read more

Rude, inattentive and overpriced. Sat down outside with my 11-year-old granddaughter for a few minutes then went into the cafe to ask for service. I noticed the hostess glaring at me and I asked if I should check in for service. She asked if the little girl outside at the table was mine, and I said yes. She got visibly angry and told me that we couldn't just sit down and that we had to move. Where were the signs and why didn't the waiter who was standing right beside the outside table tell me I had to go inside and talk to the hostess? I had been there twice before and sat outside before going in to get ice cream and was not told I could not sit outside before seeing the hostess. She was rude, disrespectful and insulting to me and my young granddaughter, who was the one who suggested we go to Cafe 101. Never again. Additionally, I have read reviews that have shared my opinion that their workers are rude and inattentive. They should also rethink their pricing, since there are many restaurants in the area with better food, at better prices. read more

Very impressive little cafe restaurant in the heart of charming little Boiling Springs. Clean, comfortable, and appealing. Really enjoyed being out side on their patio dining where they have a semi nice view of the park across the street. We only had coffee, a frap, and some baked goods. Looking forward to going back for dinner, although it was a surprise (due to the location it's in) the menu consisted of Mexican fair. But we like that type of food and there is it has a large variety. The staff was friendly, very polite and helpful. Everything that we had was generally good. Just not sure when we will make it back as it's a little out of the way for us. Also, they have a parking lot we weren't aware of until we left, ended up looking for parking on the road. read more
