Highly recommended. The tacos were amazing. The cheese was to die for, especially that spicy guava sauce. I cannot wait to go back to try more things. The decorations are so cute. We wanted to try the flan, but they were all sold out, which means it has to be amazing. I'll be trying it next time I am in the area. They are limited in seating, so I would recommend calling before hand if you would like to dine in. read more

Taquería Laurita - Tostadas - Mexican Near Me - Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Adding a star for context: this is the only taqueria in Old Town Carlisle. The three proteins I tried were all good (carne asada, carnitas, and pollo). But they were served without onions. Spicy salsa was very mild. Prices were good. read more

If you're looking for cheap, convenient, and quick tacos, skip Taco Bell and hit up Taquería. Super delicious and the cold Jarritos adds to it. I only wish they were open longer hours. Pretty chill, lowkey place otherwise. read more

Taquería Laurita - Carne Asada Tacos - Mexican Near Me - Carlisle, Pennsylvania

It's Cinco de Mayo! What better way for a foodie to celebrate this day than by enjoying some Mexican food. Unfortunately one of the Mexican restaurants in the area has closed down, and the most popular one was inexplicably not open (as least so said DoorDash), so I tried this one. Actually I visited this unassuming little place (think food truck fused into a building with a handful of equally unassuming indoor seating options) and the food wasn't bad, so I figured I'd try it today. It certainly beats Taco Bell! Actually it was pretty good. It was more of a 3.5 but until we can give 1/2 stars I rounded up to a 4 in honor of Cinco de Mayo! My favorite dish was the chicken tostada, followed surprisingly by the fish burrito. The chips were pretty nice. The "hot" sauce/salsa was disappointing because it was anything but hot - in fact more sweet than hot. I had a variety four pack of tacos but was a bit disappointed they were on soft tortilla shells when I hoped for hard shells. If there was an option it wasn't readily discernible. Lastly, the empanadas were solid but nothing special. This place is near Dickinson College and serves a vital role of food variety for the area. It's not special but it certainly is not a place to avoid. In fact, if you are in the area and craving Mexican, give it a try. It's more hit than miss and will leave you satisfied overall. read more

California style street tacos with vegetarian/vegan and weekly specials also available. Tried the yucca fries, chicken taco, and mushroom taco. Food was made fresh and had excellent flavor. The chipotle sauce for the mushroom taco was divine! read more

This place has amazing food!! I'm vegan and I absolutely love the champiñones burrito. It's spicy and flavorful and very filling for a great price. I'll be back again and again! read more

Seriously some of the best mexican in the central PA area. It's definitely a hole in the wall type restaurant but it's cheap and really delicious. The yuca fries are top notch. Do yourself a favor and go get tacos and yuca fries from here! read more

Went here yesterday and was a bit anxious due to all the 1 star reviews this place has been getting, turns out those were just a bunch of people from southern California or people who got lost on their way to a fancy dinner at taco bell. As a Carlisle resident I can say I was very pleased with the freshness of the food, the staff as super friendly and helpful and they had this drink made from hibiscus that was delicious! (It tastes like cranberry which I can't have so it was an interesting substitute) Ok for the haters. Yes, the tacos are small. They are supposed to be that's how Spanish and Mexican meals are prepared (with the exception of paella) that's huge usually. But they are small so you can try many kinds. Once more you will not be getting 10 of the same taco crunchy or soft - these are real. Plus you can get empanadas. Down side? Their extra hot salsa made in house isn't particularly spicy, but it is good. read more

After moving to Carlisle, Taqueria Laurita quickly became a staple in the rotation, consistently delivering great tacos, burritos, etc. all without breaking the budget. Definitely a local gem. No frills, just good, authentic food. Salsa's are fantastic, we like the hot and always get extra on the side! Whoever left one star for a review for this needs have their taste buds checked. I've had street tacos in Mexico, so I'd like to think I know a good taco when I taste one. Stop in, you'll be glad you did. read more

How is this place only 3 stars?! I lived in San Diego 11 years, and have lived in three different east coast states since - this is the closest thing to authentic Mexican I've had since San Dawg! So good! read more

Come for the food. It's a small place with disposable plates for your food. If you are looking for a fancy dinner with the girlfriend, pick another one, but if you want some DELICIOUS authentic food, I'll see you there. The BEST seat is at the bar by the window. read more

You can always tell when a restaurant is just throwing the food on a plate, no real passion for flavors, just going through the motions. I'm not sure how difficult it is to ruin Mexican food, but Taqueria Laurita managed to do it. Disappointing. If you are in Carlisle looking for Mexican food, you are close enough to go Tania's in Aspers, PA. It's much more worth your time and money, and will deliver the element of delight. Taqueria Laurita, bland, prepackaged flavors, not authentic, wish I had listened to the poor reviews. They should take a trip to Guadalajara- or at least Aspers - and get a feel for authentic flavors. read more

Pretty good spot for authentic tacos. My only recommendation would be for them to add some onions in the tacos. The meat and salsa are on point. Very good experience overall. read more

Taquería Laurita - Fried cheese with a spicy guava sauce - Mexican Near Me - Carlisle, Pennsylvania

The only thing authentic about the Taqueria Laurita is the portion size. As a So Cal native and veteran of more taquerias than I can count, this place doesn't earn the name. The good: fresh soft corn tortillas The rest: the salsa was almost a great start until I realized it's no different than the Tomatillo at Moe's. What place can call itself a taqueria without carne asada tacos being a staple? This is the main dish at most taquerias. Taquerias shouldn't have tacos that cost $2.50, when it's the size of your palm, The flavor was severely lacking. Cilantro and onion should pop when mixed with the corn tortilla and meat choice, the only flavor saver was the regular salsa they serve. Overall, the biggest waste of money in town for a meal. If you aren't a taqueria regular like I am maybe you will like it, if you are you need to go to Harrisburg. Tres Hermanos has the best AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food in the area. For what you spend at Taqueria Laurita you can get gas money and a great meal up there. Very disappointed overall, If you couldn't tell. read more

Great Mexican food at a great price. Having spent a lot of time in San Antonio TX, my wife and I know good Mexican food (at least we think we do) The food here is good, not good for 'outside of Tejas' but quality ingredients cooked with love and skill. We have been in the area about two months and every Saturday I have one of their tacos in my face.....Every.Saturday. Great food and friendly staff....definitely put Taquería Laurita in your rotation. read more

From the outside, adorable. But all the goodness ends there. My son and I recently popped in for a quick bite but disappointment was served. My son summed it up best: "the tacos taste like cardboard with cold meat. The cheese tastes like feta, which is confusing because you briefly think you may have wandered into a Greek restaurant. This place is horrible and not worth a single dollar, which sucks because the tacos cost a shit-ton of money. Oh, and the quesadillas are one of the worst I've ever eaten. I would rather have cafeteria food." I guess we won't be back. read more

We ordered like one of everything on the menu (great prices) and everything was so good. I'm not sure why the ratings aren't great, my sister who lived in Tucson for years said their tacos are as good as the ones she would get there. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. We got tacos and a taco-quesadilla combo and everything was amazing. I definitely would've gotten more if I had the room. So first off I'm going to call it how it is, this restaurant is a "Little Hole in the Wall." But that's perfect since it provides nice seating next to a window that looks out onto one of the main streets of Carlisle. Also the decorative truck and interior of the restaurant has more than enough charm. Onto the food! All of the tacos were very good and kept me wanting more. I had three tacos and a quesadilla for lunch and let me tell ya, it hit the spot! After washing it down with some cold/crisp hibiscus tea I was feeling great and overall was very please with the quality of food. Anybody that has traveled and experienced real food would appreciate this place. read more

I'm surprised how many negative reviews this place has. If you want authentic Mexican tacos in Carlise, you probably won't find a better spot. I've spent 4 months traveling in Mexico and eaten more street tacos than I can count. These are definitely authentic. read more

Do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant. If you want authentic Mexican food, head to Tres Hermanos on South Cameron Street in Harrisburg. The food at Taqueria Laurita was sub par at best. We went here on a Friday night for dinner. For as packed as it was, I thought the food would have been better. I was hungry when we placed our order and I was hungry and disappointed when we left. The Atmosphere: The restaurant is small. Maybe 10 tables or less. The walls are painted bright blue and there is very little decor. Patrons order at a counter located at the back of the restaurant. The menu is printed on a brightly colored tri-folded piece of paper. There is a cooler off to the right filled with an array of Mexican sodas and bottled water. The Food: I ordered a trio of tacos, empanadas Del Dia and a bottle of Apple Soda. The tacos were: Pollo y Pepitas (Chicken with salsa verde and pumpkin seeds), Al Pastor (Pork with pineapple and ancho chiles) and Chorizo y Papas (Mexican sausage and potato). Both the chicken and Chorizo were gristly. The empanadas were tastier than the tacos. But that's not saying much. The word bland comes to mind when describing the food here. The salsa/sauces lacked flavor and heat. It was very watered down and not appetizing at all. The woman working behind the counter said the salsa was spicy. It was not. Overall experience: The staff was pleasant and the service was fast. But if the food stays the same, I wouldn't go back. read more

The whitest Mexicans ever seen. But not a bad experience, compared to all the other white people cooking things they shouldn't. White people Indian food "Tiki Mashala" Not good. The white guy (complete with dreds) who made the worst sushi ever. White person Brazilian steakhouse: all you can eat steakums? flol Tasty, but not overly complicated. Not cheap, but not expensive. Methinks being open to midnight or 2:30am...this is a college establishment. Also concur with another Yelp observation that the 1stars are Californians here for college. Jeezuz kids, did you see that there weren't any Mexicans and think it was going to be just like San Luis Obisbo? Nope...too busy catching Pokémon. read more

I adore this spot. Totally delicious and affordable and quick! I've had the yucca fries, fish taco, mushroom taco, and green chile tamales so far and they are all fantastic. Excellent place! My boyfriend and I went here 3 times in two days. The Al Pastor was by far my favorite taco along with the steak quesadilla's! The empanadas are also worth a try but they didn't have a lot of filling inside them. The service could definitely be more friendly but the food is great and authentic. read more

One word to describe this would be horrible. If I could give this ZERO stars I would. I went in with my hubby and our daughter, the place was cute but I had a gut feeling we were set for disappointment. If you like guacamole that's squeezed out of a plastic bag and was made 3 months ago by some manufacturer then you will love this guacamole. I doubt it was even 50% guacamole. I got the al pastor, carne asada, and the chorizo tacos. They all had an odd taste. If you are from out of town like we were, don't take your chances on this place. read more

Disappointed with lunch for my 3 grandkids. Tacos were just chopped meat with a light dusting of cheese, no lettuce or anything else. Salsa was just tomateo ground up. Yuca fries were ok. Drinks were highly overpriced ($2.50 for a small bottle). $39.00 for a little bit of meat, some store-bought corn tortillas, pre-frozen yuca fries, 3 average empanadas and 3 drinks. Cashier was very nice, though. read more
