This was our 1st time visiting this restaurant and we would return again. This isn't the best Mexican around, but it was still very delicious. The parking lot is big, easy parking, there is a bar area and a nice size dining room. We got complementary chips and salsa, and i believe a crema sauce, but not 100% sure what it was. Me and my fiance, shared two dishes. We ordered the camarones gratinados, which is grilled shrimp in a cheese sauce for $14.25. It was delicious and a lot of shrimp. i think the price wasn't made for what you got. We then split the enchiladas bandera for $16.25, which was one chicken, one beef, and one cheese enchilada. They were each very good! We ended the meal with their tres leches for $8.50. I did not really care for it. I've had way better else where however my fiance did like it. The service was also good, and a manager came by to check on the table.

It is like night and day when it comes to the food here, and it ultimately is the reason why I am bumping this restaurant review up an additional star. As New York City has lousy Mexican food (all apologies to the Bronx), anytime I can leave the city to try some is always an opportunity I look to seize. This was a restaurant that came up in the Yelp app and figured to give a go at. The restaurant is not too far from Gettysburg, or Harrisburg, or Carlisle. It is in a town called Mechanicsburg, which has plenty of restaurants and shopping. The restaurant has authentic Mexican offerings as well as some other Tex-Mex takes, but once I heard they offer a Horchata, a Queso Fundido, and a Chori Pollo, I was sold on getting all three. Sadly the Fundido is a no fun dido. It is raw and nasty, bland and stomach upsetting, and the chips and dip seem to not work at all with it. I took two bites and promptly called it quits. The same could not be said for the Chori Pollo, which is outstanding. The chicken is lean but has great flavor. Excellent flavor on the chorizo with a great queso layer. The flavor depth of this dish is massive because you get a happy family of flavors in almost every bite. I was practically shoveling this. The Horchata I had, has good balance and is plentiful. Part of me wishes I had a Tamarind drink, but this works well. At least I know I can leave knowing there is some good Mexican here, because in New York City, there is no good finds there. So it goes.

Very friendly staff. I ordered Birria tacos. They were good. Would have loved less meat and more cheese. I added sour cream and pickled jalapeños. Also had the fried ice cream. I was very happy with the ice cream.

Food was good. Service was good. Quick in and out which is exactly what I was looking for at the time I went. Also have been there before where I sat for an hour enjoying the ambiance and food.

Good Mexican food is hard to find out here but one day we drove by and decided to give it a try on our date night and I'm so glad we did! The food was amazing! I had the birria tacos and my husband had the shrimp fajitas. Place was clean and were playing good music. Our server was nice and wasn't too over the top which we appreciated. Will definitely be back with the kids next time.

We were hesitant to try out a chain Mexican restaurant since we have a favorite local spot just up the road. However, we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant was packed for a Friday night, but we waited less than 15 minutes for a table for two. There was a huge party that took up most of the tables in the back of the restaurant. Due to this setup, the space to walk in between tables was super tight and hard to navigate. Chips, salsa, and some sort of creamy cheese dip were placed on the table as we sat down. The chips were nice and hot. The salsa is not my favorite, but the cheesy dip was okay. It was like a watered down queso dip. We chose to start with tableside guacamole and super queso to have something to eat with the chips. The tableside Guac is expensive ($15) but you customize what you want added to it (cilantro, onions, jalapeño, tomatoes) and the spice level (mild, medium, hot). We went for no cilantro and mild spice and it was fantastic. Bring cash to tip the person who makes it! The queso dip was a great app - it had shrimp, chicken, and steak in the same kind of creamy cheese dip sauce that came on a sizzling fajita plate. It came with soft flour tortillas as well. We would definitely get both again. We got the Al pastor tacos (pork) and the seafood enchiladas for our entrees. The portion sizes were great for the most part, although the tacos were mostly pineapple and onions and cilantro with a little bit of pork. They were tasty though. The seafood enchiladas were good and full of shrimp. I do wish the entrees came out as hot as the queso and chips did. The rice and beans on the side plate were especially cool in temperature, unfortunately. We got fried ice cream ($10) as a dessert and it was good. I'm used to the fried ice cream coming out hot on the outside, since that's how the restaurants did it in my hometown, but that doesn't seem to be the norm anywhere else. The service was amazing. We weren't expecting much when we saw how busy it was inside, but our server was incredible. She kept our drinks constantly full, was so prompt with bringing more chips for our guacamole and queso, and checking in on us. The prices are a little high, but the food was worth it for the most part. We'll be back!

The decor provided an very modern colorful ambiance. The food was delicious and large portions. Typically I'd go with a margarita although the list of mules was so enticing and a good choice.

This has become one of my wife's fav places...which is very surprising bc she is not an adventurous eater (and yes, for her, Mexican food is adventurous). We have been here several times and have enjoyed the food each and every time. We really appreciate the calories being on the menu, however, it isn't very clear as to how those calories are assigned (I.e. is the rice/beans included in that total? )...at least it is a starting point for me to make better choices. The food has always been hot and served quickly. I believe it to be reasonably priced as well. In terms of ambience, it doesn't offer much. However, I'm not there for interior decor class...I want good Mexican food. You can definitely tell it is a former TGI Friday's...especially with the big "F"s as door handles in the exterior. The restaurant and the bathrooms have always been clean. Service has always been impeccable as well. Servers have been very friendly and a good combo of attentive/respecting your peace. Food is always served very fast. You do get tortilla chips with salsa and queso on your table as well. At the least, give it a shot. I'm not going to say it's anything much more than a typical Mexican restaurant, but they do it well. I'm sure we will be back.

Right after us, people poured in and the place filled up quickly, so clearly it's doing something right. We ordered a shrimp cocktail ($12) to start, one chorizo taco ($4), one shrimp taco ($4), rice and beans ($6), and an order of chilaquiles with beef, chicken, and a fried egg ($14). We also grabbed a Diet Pepsi ($3) and a mandarin Jarritos ($4). Somewhere along the way we ended up with two chorizo tacos and two shrimp tacos (and were charged for them), but we rolled with it and turned them into decent leftovers. The shrimp cocktail was huge -- served in what I can only describe as a glass milkshake cup. The shrimp themselves were good-sized, but it was mostly red sauce, so the dramatic presentation felt a little unnecessary. The shrimp taco was the standout -- really tasty and well-balanced. The chorizo taco was good flavor-wise but on the dry side and could have used some kind of sauce to help it along. Adventure Buddy was very happy with the chilaquiles, which came loaded with beef, chicken, and a fried egg. He demolished most of it, leaving zero leftovers and no regrets. The staff were friendly and kind and did their best to stay attentive as the restaurant got busier. All-in, after tip, we spent around $70 for a Friday night date night. That felt a little high for what we ordered, but the extra tacos did give us leftovers, so that helped soften the blow. Bottom line: this is a solid Mexican restaurant. Would I go out of my way to eat here? No. If I was in the area and craving Mexican food, would I come back? Sure. Nothing to shout from the rooftops about, but also nothing to complain about -- average, fine, and perfectly serviceable. Bonus points for plentiful free parking, since it's located in a strip mall.

I was the only diner in the place, which honestly made me feel like I had just rented out a private pizza studio. Bonus: plenty of free parking right out front because it's tucked into a little strip mall. Before I even ordered, the menu caught my attention--an eclectic mashup of pizza and tacos, with breakfast versions of both served all day long. It's honestly the kind of menu you'd expect to stumble upon in a dream where the universe says, "Go ahead, choose joy." I originally planned to be "responsible" and just grab a slice to test the waters, but they didn't have any slices ready and would've had to make an entire pizza just for me. That felt like a sign from the Universe to stop lying to myself. If they were firing up the oven anyway, why not go big? So I took the cosmic hint and ordered their semi-Instagram-famous Mexican Breakfast Pizza: eggs, chorizo, mozzarella, cheddar... a 10" "personal" pizza (their wording, not mine) for $14. Twist my arm. Drinks live in the cooler by the door and you just grab whatever you want and pay at the end. As I was mid-debate between soda and water, the guy behind the counter popped out from behind the curtain and said, "Hey, since you're getting a breakfast pizza, if you want juice... orange, cranberry, apple... you can have it!" Sir. Apple juice is basically the secret key to my heart. SOLD. He also mentioned they have games and coloring books available--apparently dominoes is the crowd favorite here. Unexpected and charming. A little sign on my table caught my eye: "If you love it, leave a nice review." Challenge accepted. This place was already earning every star. Placed my order at 5:02, snagged a seat by the window to watch the sunset fade and the traffic chaos whirl by. The sign on the wall said "GOOD vibes, GREAT flavors," and let me tell you: an accurate mission statement. At 5:20, my pizza emerged in all its glory--and it. was. stunning. The crust hit that sweet middle ground between thin and deep dish: sturdy, doughy, beautifully crisped on the edges, and wonderfully yeasty. The eggs-to-cheese ratio was perfection, and the chorizo? A knockout. Spicy, chunky, far more personality than the usual breakfast-pizza sausage situation. I ate 1.5 slices and boxed up the rest, which will easily feed me for another three days because, yes, I believe in leftovers as a lifestyle. As I was leaving, the man behind the counter introduced himself--Sebastian--and he had been nothing but attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure I had a great experience. Service like that sticks with you. Total damage: $22.26 including tip. For great food, even better service, and days of leftovers? That's what I call winning. I'll definitely be back--probably at another totally normal breakfast hour.

The chips come out PIPING HOT and are fresh fried, as they should be, but seems to be rare for Mexican restaurants in the area these days... the salsa is incredibly good. It is a touch spicy with a little sweetness, but we loved the flavor. The first basket is free (also not always the norm around here) and a second basket is only $1.50 more - that's amazing! We also got a queso con chorizo to share and the small size was PLENTY. We both decided on taco platters and that was a great choice - we got to try a bunch of meats that way. The al pastor was amazing, as was the carne asada, carnitas, and shrimp taco. The tacos were topped with an amazing guacamole sauce. I got corn tortilla tacos and they were perfectly griddled and warm. My husband enjoyed his flour tortilla tacos. The rice and beans were fresh and hot and delicious too. Food came out quick and exactly as we ordered, even with some modifications! We didn't love the additional red sauce in the squirt bottle that you can add to your food, but the salsa verde in the squirt bottle was good. I ordered an extra salsa to add to my tacos instead. However, this is the second time I have had chicken or beef in my fajitas (specified vegetarian). We picked up an order tonight after traveling back into town. I ordered fajitas. Unfortunately, there was steak in my food & all of the toppings for fajitas were not included in the order (rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, etc.) despite paying extra for these. I also want to warn that the refried beans are not vegetarian (which is pretty normal). They do have vegetarian beans, you just need to specifically recommend them. For anyone veg or vegan, you know this can really ruin an evening- specifically on a takeout order when there isn't much you can do once you get home. El Sol has great food, margs, and a lovely vibe. For meat eaters, I 100% recommend. All others with restrictions, please be overly specific to a waiter or on a togo order. We will definitely return, but I will be much more cautious.
