We went here and it was my first time in a long time. I got an "open burrito blow" which was a burrito blow and it was amazing! I think I have a new obsession! It was fresh and delicious! I felt like the value was there too and got 2 meals out of the dish!

Dinner combination #16. One Bean Chalupa, One Chile Relleno and One Beef Burrito. Mmmm

El Rodeo is a good place to go for Mexican food and is family-friendly. They have a full bar and decent specials. i love the brightly colored tables and chairs here--they make the space feel happy. Service is always good when we stop for a meal. It can take a while for drinks to come from the bar on a busy night. The food is decent. I really enjoy the complimentary salsa & chips. The salsa has a really nice amount of heat. I typically enjoy the Queso fundido, but today it was super thin. It was hard to even scoop it onto the tortilla chips. For my meal, I usually get #16 platter because I like the combination of items in that dinner. There's a chalupa, a beef burrito and your choice of chile relleno with either beef or cheese. I feel like this is a good value and is consistently good. There's nothing spectacular about the food here, but I have never left unsatisfied.

OMG, seafood in PA, NEVER!!! Not anymore. My wife and I got the fajitas for two with scallops shrimp chicken and steak and seafood was amazing. The scallops are butter soft fully flavorful no fishy taste whatsoever shrimp just a tip crunchy perfect in your mouth. absolutely beautiful I highly recommend this place for semi if not, mostly authentic Mexican food especially the seafood.

Amazing service. Everyone is so nice and the food is delicious with fast service! Plus what's not to love about the chips and salsa!

Considering the location (Harrisburg PA) this place is spectacular. You can get decent, inexpensive Mexican food in a place with Mexican music and a nice ambiance.

Visited here with a few friends for a Saturday girls lunch. We were seated immediately in a corner booth and ordered pitchers of frozen margaritas right away - strawberry and raspberry. This was my first time having one from here and I have to say the raspberry was the best. It tasted like real raspberries. YUM. The perfect drink for a 96 degree day!! I ordered the lunch portion of the Burrito San Jose, which is filled with chicken (or steak), chorizo, rice and beans--topped with queso and Pico de Gallo -- it's always my favorite go to when visiting Mexican restaurants. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious -- the salsa was a little spicy, but I love it like that. Service was great with Rob as our server. We are a group of girls that don't get together too much so we were a little loud and "fun" but Robert was very patient and attentive. He seems a bit on the shy side but we had him opening up a little....he was great. Thanks Rob!! Great visit!!

After several visits, it's time for a review. El Rodeo is a longtime independent chain with kitschy, yet charming Spanish ambiance with a slightly more authentic offerings for reasonable prices. This location also offers outdoor seating.

It was a rainy day mid afternoon. This location was quiet. Service was immediate atmosphere. Subtle interesting since I have never been here before to Harrisburg Pennsylvania. I wanted to try a local Mexican restaurant. This one did not disappoint.

Amo la comida Mexicana! (I love Mexican food). Thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor patio -that was the first time we did that at an El Rodeo. Chairs were comfy. I had a Corona with lime. Chicken with red mole sauce was moist and tender. The guacamole dip was delish. They have homemade version at your table but we didn't want to stuff ourselves, since that's a huge portion but oh so good. Steak fajitas were sizzlingly delicious with onions, tomatoes and green peppers. Mmm, the smell makes you mouth water. Comes with the fixings but not necessary since it could stand alone. Very busy night inside and outside. The food all came out quick. However, understandable, the waitress was hard to find to get refill of drinks. Maybe ask for water and your drink to have a backup on busy days. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The restaurant itself had a few tables, a frozen ice cream box, video chance games, a huge rack of phone cards and several pictures decorating the walls. Most of the pictures depicted scenes from mexico, such as poncho villa, zapata, rural life, cows, etc... one of the walls was covered in mirrors and had a sombrero hanging on it. They have standard tacos at 2.50 apiece, chicken, beef or pork. We tried several of them. There was also a Torta for 8.50 that was pretty decent. There was some type of hot sauce (Valentina brand) here that that we put on it made it significantly better. The helado de fresa or strawberry ice cream ($1.50) balanced it out. We also had the Bistek Ranchero: it came with 6 yellow corn tortillas, onions, cilantro, beans, rice & lots of beef, mixed with red pepper. That cost 14.00 pretty decent if you ask me. What makes this place stand out in my opinion is the " tostada ceviche de camaron " or lime marinaded seafood salad on a deep fried corn tortilla. This item is occasionally also available at competitors but not nearly as good. 5 Stars, incredible food!

Let me just start off by saying the place itself is beautiful, antiqueish like but also gave me Mexican culture to the max. Which I loved. I visited Mexico before so it definitely was nice to see that. Everyone from the host to our server were so nice and friendly. We loved our server, he kept us laughing and was great with his attentiveness to the table. The menu offers a lot! Lol from traditional plates to vegetarian options. I wanted to try something different so I picked the San Jose burrito. A burrito stuffed with chicken, rice, chorizo, beans and topped with a jalapeño cheese sauce.. it was beyond what I expected. It was so flavorful! Loved every bite lol if you come here, I highly recommend. Hubby got the Tacos Del Mar which came with three tacos. 1- shrimp, 1- fried fish & 1-seared fish. His plate came with rice too. Which I think is great for the price and the portion they give you. We also order table side guacamole because you always need to have some gua when you're at Mexican restaurant right?!?!! Lol. Everything was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff , very nice spot. Go check it out if you haven't.

The quesbirria tacos were my favorite, but all of them were delicious! Also, their guacamole tasted super fresh so I would recommend starting off with chips and guacamole. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere with Mexican theme and fun celebrations if it's somebody's birthday. Our waitress was super sweet. She accidentally put in an order for one taco instead of three but immediately went to fix her mistake. I had the Horchata, which was yummy and all of my friends had house or mango margaritas. They were a good size and they all enjoyed it! If you're craving for Mexican, this is a good place to be. And they have many TVs around if you also want to find a spot to watch the games.

Inside, the vibe is warm and festive: colorful artwork, low-top tables, a lively bar stocked with tequilas, and gorgeous Moravian star lights glowing overhead. The menu is extensive -- everything from tacos and burritos to rice bowls, full entrées, and massive multi-person feasts served in lava rock molcajetes. Most dishes land around $20, or you can snag tacos individually for $5.50. We started with the Mexican Seafood Dip and wow... game changer. Shrimp, bay scallops, crab, and mushrooms all swimming in a red tomatillo sauce, baked under a gooey blanket of cheese, and served with chips. Unlike so many "seafood" dips that are 90% cheese, El Sol delivers with generous amounts of actual seafood. It was piping hot, hearty, and plentiful -- enough that we happily took leftovers home. For mains, I went with a Birria Taco (plus a trusty Diet Coke). Juicy, cheesy, crispy perfection -- I could've polished off three more but restrained myself. Adventure Buddy chose Camarones A La Diabla -- jumbo Gulf shrimp and mushrooms in a three-chile sauce. Bright red, spicy but not overpowering, and loaded with shrimp that were actually jumbo. He was a happy camper. Our total came to $62 with tip, which felt fair for the quality and portions. Service was attentive and friendly, and the noise level low enough for both conversation and even a quick phone call. Parking is the usual downtown Harrisburg scene -- no on-site lot, but free street parking after 5 and garages nearby make it easy enough. Bottom line: great food, colorful atmosphere, and a menu that's begging us to come back. Next time, I'm eyeing one of those lava rock molcajetes.

Now, the best tacos I've ever had in my life were at Lucy's in LA--but let's not talk about Los Angeles, even though I wish I were there with the palm trees and the ocean breeze, where I don't sneeze because of allergies! The second best I've ever had is at this Mexican spot right off Derry Street in Harrisburg, PA. As soon as you walk in the door, there's a beautiful yellow that automatically makes you feel like you're sitting in the countryside of a sweet Mexican village. Although I haven't been to Mexico yet, I can only imagine how it feels with the beautiful Aztec culture all around, the pictures, and, of course, those wonderful plants that tequila is made from displayed on the wall. When I order, I do it by numbers because I'm not fluent in Spanish yet, but hearing the staff speak Spanish makes me feel like I'm getting the real deal.
