My fiance and I love El Rodeo in Lemoyne!! We love how it's one of the smaller locations and there is a family feel about it. The setting itself has calmer lighting and beautiful artwork. The staff are so kind and very punctual. I really enjoy how they don't bug the table, they just sort of know when to come over. Free chips and salsa to staff is always a plus and it always tastes so fresh. I love getting enchiladas or quesadillas and food always comes out piping hot and very delicious. They are non-alcoholic which isn't an issue! My fiance got the mango daiquiri last time and it was a very strong and refreshing mango flavor!! The food there is good, but it could be better. (I'm not a big fan of Mexican food, either, so that contributes a lot to the 2 Stars.) I normally get fajitas, which are good, but now I get carnitas, which are also good. I used to love El Rodeo, but I would rather go to Plaza Az Teca now because it is just so much better! The service is OK, but sometimes you sit down, and you wait 5 minutes until a server comes. What really DOES deserve 5 Stars in El Rodeo is the style of the place. The ground beef has been so underwhelming lately, that we're not coming here much anymore when we can get a better meal elsewhere. Every day since I have moved to New York l, I have internally cried because there is no good Mexican restaurants for me to try. I have to wait until I go back into the suburbs to give them a go. When I made a trip out of the city to Harrisburg for a few days, I took advantage of it by having Mexican not once, but twice. Sadly, neither one came up fruitful. You will see why. -Horchata: Decent, but not great. -Chips and salsa: Dense, salsa has a tang but no kick. I do think they make them in house. -Tortilla soup: Meh, nothing special. It did not offer much to my palate. -San Jose Burrito: Inconsistent. Loved some parts, others are bland. The queso works, but I need more than just a cheesy smothered burrito with meat, rice, and beans inside. The chorizo is delicious. It is a bit overpriced and did not feel I got value for my lunch. I think this place is pretty good. The free nachos and salsa always taste good. The service is always good. Unlike some other locations no alcohol here. They have a large menu. Some of my favorites are the molcajete,the beef taco salad, the pork chimichanga. I haven't gotten anything I didn't like and while I know some people seem to love el sol better I think the number of establishments they have and the good service we always get speak for themselves. read more

Tuesday night dinner here with a colleague and we were disappointed on multiple levels. I do understand that there are restaurants that don't have alcohol licenses and this El Rodeo does not have one. When the waiter indicated so as he set down the chips and salsa, I should have left. I did not. So keep that in mind if you're looking for a beer or a margarita with your meal. I ordered guacamole and a small dish of it arrived. A little spicy, the avocados were completely mushed. Considering that it was around $4, the size was reasonable. For main course, steak fajitas for me and on the side, I asked them to hold the rice and beans. Normally, this would mean a bit more of the cheese or guacamole or pico on the side plate. Not so at El Rodeo. Plenty of onions and green peppers on the sizzling platter, there could definitely be more beef. Small pieces here. My colleague had a taco salad for his main course. The shell was barely half filled and very light on chicken. He did not enjoy his meal at all. El Rodeo could use some improvements before I'll consider returning. Just adding from my experience today that left me sour. We ordered a large take out order including 4 entrees, a cheese dip and a guacamole dip. When we got the order back to the office there was a TINY bag of chips. When did this start? I called and they said that its one TINY bag per ORDER. Well seriously. I guess we've often placed our own respective order online and have each gotten our own chips in the past maybe? But in all of my years I've NEVER gotten such a small bag of chips for 4 people. EVER. At least a bigger bag. There was probably like 8 chips in. How can you sell a $4 guac and $4 cheese dip and think 8 chips would be enough for even that? This place serves decent food just don't ever order eggs here. They consistently turn out burned or raw eggs covered in ranchero sauce. Even after long discussions with pans being to hot for eggs... While in the area on a road trip, we stopped here to fix our Mexican craving. The exterior and interior of this restaurant is super fun. The food was a bit bland, the cleanliness was good, and the service was fine. First, the food. The food here was nothing to be excited about. My mother and I both agreed that the beans were extremely bland and the tacos tasted as if they were from Taco Bell. The chips and salsa however was good. I've been here several times, and it's mostly just average - nothing too special. But after my last experience, I felt the need to leave this review. My wife and I ordered dinner directly though the El Rodeo website for delivery, given the coronavirus situation. Since it's Cinco de Mayo, we figured it would take longer than normal. After waiting 2.5 hours, I called to inquire about my order status, only to learn that they lost my order. So they put it in again, and after waiting another hour, we finally received the order. Only, we were missing 5 of the 7 items we ordered. At this point, I called to just ask for a refund. It's a busy night and mistakes happen, so I wasn't too upset. However, the El Rodeo employee was extremely rude, saying they were not going to give me a refund. They said I needed to work it out with GrubHub (even though I made the order directly through the El Rodeo website). After speaking with GrubHub, I learned that I indeed needed to actually work it out with El Rodeo, as I initially thought. So I called El Rodeo once again, only to be told they could not help me and that I would not be receiving a refund. Like I said in the beginning, it's a pretty average place. The staff is polite, attentive and show a genuine care for customers enjoying their meals. The brightly colored decor and music provide the restaurant with a festive feel. Chips and salsa are brought to the table by your server as they appear for your drink order. I love when these chips are warm and shimmery showing they are freshly made. The menu offers an ample selection. I typically order the Beef Taco Salad served in a large, light, airy taco shell bowl. Tasty Mexican food served fairly quickly and great service make El Rodeo a smart choice for lunchtime or for dinner when you are ready to eat. read more

Went there last night with my hubby for my birthday. Usually I enjoy their food as it's the closest I can get to food I ate when I lived in New Mexico. Except last night. I ordered the Cancun burrito, I'd never had it so figured I'd try something different. It came out smothered in what I assumed was "red sauce" red chili sauce isn't my favorite but figured oh well it'll still be yummy. I was wrong on both, my burrito was smothered in spaghetti sauce! Not red sauce, it was the most horrible mix of flavor ever and I couldn't eat it. I asked my server for just a bean burrito with Queso instead, because I didn't like spaghetti sauce on my burritos. This place gets a big freakin' ZERO for my experience last night. On the door they advertised a special for that night - Ceviche. I love Ceviche. The sign said it included shrimp, crab, and octopus. My son shared it with me. After he had eaten a few bites I realized it didn't have crab - it had Krab or artificial crab. The artificial crap has artificial food coloring. Artificial food coloring affects my son's brain severely and he acts psychotic. We immediately stopped eating the appetizer (priced at over $7). When the manager came by, I explained they had falsely advertised the ingredients and it was going to negatively affect my son. She said, "sorry I hope he'll be ok". No offer to refund the cost of the appetizer, no offer to do ANYTHING!" I would love for El Rodeo to pay for the hundreds of dollars of damage my son inflicted on my house last night because of eating that crap. Dear El Rodeo - false advertising is a CRIME. Essentially poisoning a 4-yr old is a really crappy thing to do. Not giving a sh*t makes it even worse. By the time the rest of us shoveled the food in our faces to get out of there as soon as possible - the coloring had hit his system and he ran off when leaving the restaurant and almost was hit by a car in the parking lot. I hope to hell you're happy. You have lost my business for ever! As a P.S. to everyone else. Not only did they falsely advertise the ingredients (replacing crab with a much cheaper alternative), the chopped up shrimp in the dish had some ammonia flavor (a sign they were going bad) and we only found one tiny piece of octopus. This Friday night I had no desire to cook and clean, so I figured I would support a local business by ordering take out. After surveying my guests, we had an overwhelming craving for Mexican food. Our first look was to the 2nd street staple, El Sol, however I was sent to voicemail after numerous calls. Discouraged and disheartened, I scoured the internet for another Mexican restaurant that could please my hunger. El Rodeo seemed like the perfect option for my Fiesta Friday. I looked over the menu, found something that caught my eye, as well as my companions. After only one ring, I was greeted by a friendly "Hello". I was taken aback on the response time, but pleasantly of course. After placing my order, they informed me it would be 10-15 minutes until my food would be ready. Talk about fast! And when we opened our bag, the food was packaged to perfection!!! The little containers of salsa and chips were sent from heaven! The Enchiladas Rancheras were exceptional, cooked to perfection. I waited 45 minutes for my food, and when I stood up they were telling me about the backup. When I said I'd give them two minutes to get my food out to me, it came out. That made me suspicious. Staff were also standing around as if they were bored. I will not come back. P.S. also, nothing more suspicious than a drive-thru window. Menu is huge so I doubt anything was made fresh. I meal I ordered at the Lemoyne restaurant was horrible. I had ordered the exact same thing at the one in York on Rt 30 and the meal was excellent. I don't understand how the exact same meal at the same restaurant chain can be so different. Other chain restaurants all meals taste the same no matter whitch restaurant in that chain you go to. Came here for Cinco de Mayo and knew it was going to be busy. Waiter brought our drinks and but took quite a while to place our food order. When our food came out, We had no silverware and had to ask for the free chips and salsa. We weren't finished eating and he brought us our check without ever checking on us or offering to refill our drinks. We told him we wanted dessert and he acted surprised. He took away one dirty dish and the partial basket of chips and salsa that we were still eating!
