I'm a harsh critique when it comes to Mexican. I grew up around it made by many hands. Let's start off with the positive. The service and the ambiance was great! The interior decor was beautiful. The negative... the food. The food quality lacks. I ordered the sopes, two with asada and one with carnitas. The tortilla felt like it had been made a week ago and reheated. I prefaced ordering these by asking the server if the tortillas were made in house, a better question would of been if they made them for each order. The meat was okay. Loved the amount of toppings on each, they were definitely not stingy. Would of loved if they had a green salsa available. The drinks were no better. They were sweet as can be with a 1/4 shot in them. I ordered the margarita flight and even though each base was tasty. They had no alcohol in them. One shot for three cups is a robbery. Love supporting a local establishment but this one definitely needs some quality assistance. read more

Upon entry I was promptly seated at a comfortable booth. Olivia quicly tokk my order, bringing complimentary fresh, warm tortilla chips and spicy salsa. Salsa was delicious; recommend it be a tad thicker so it doesn't roll of a tortilla or run off a meal item. I drank a lime Jaritos Mexican soda. As for entree, I enjoyed a chicken chimichanga plate for a late dinner. The 2 chimichangas were perfectly crispy on the outside tortilla shells, filled greatly with savory shredded chicken perfectly seasoned with bell peppers. Queso cheese surrounded the meal. Homemade guacamole was scrumptious and was complented by crisp fresh lettuce. Accompanying the chimichangas were refried beans. Great food, service, and atmosphere! My total bill with tip was just over $20. I thought the price was expected for the quantity and quality. Recommend you turn off the air conditioning, as it was chilly. Parking is abundant. Very classic Mexican chain unit in PA. I looked it up using Yelp app from hotel I was staying after business meeting. Quick table seating upon entering. They were very busy before as I sat down and many started leaving in batches . Must have been here around 6-7. The menu had many veg otero varieties and most around $9,95 which is really reasonable. I prefer lime on the rocks house Margarita which really cool me for ?! Warm me up as it's cold outside being February 16 th ... after Valentines-day .. May those who didn't make it on Monday were here today !! Absolutely terrible. We were sat in a booth by two young kids. I'm assuming that they were the children of someone working there. Anyway, they were constantly kicking the booth which I felt every time for 45 minutes straight. They also were playing games and videos on whatever device super loud. Our waitress's English wasn't the best which isn't a problem, but when my wife was asking for explanations about different dishes on the menu, our waitress had no idea how to answer her questions. When the food finally arrived, it was just disgusting. Enchiladas just swimming in sour cream. Tasted like they were frozen and microwaved. The dish included 4 enchiladas but I barely was able to eat one. The taste was just offensive. Just overall a very unpleasant experience. Will never go back. read more

Great Spot for Mexican Food! Menu is a bit overwhelming with all the different options. I usually get their steak taco platter (Carne Asada). Everything is fresh and made to order. Never had a bad meal here... very consistent quality. Frozen Margaritas are excellent too! read more

Nasty, Americanized "Mexican" slop. Seriously poor service, food that tastes like it was cooked days ago and reheated in a microwave. So glad our area has more Mexican options because El Rodeo had no reason to enforce quality control since they had zero competition until last year. I'm Latina and married to a Mexican American and there are FAR better choices than this place. Even their drinks are weak AF. Spare yourself and go to el Sol down the road. I grabbed lunch here with my little sister not expecting very much. It was surprisingly good and inexpensive we ordered from the lunch menu and I got chicken for heat as which were excellent and lime margarita which I thought was very strong! The only thing that sucked was our waitress she was basically MIA the whole time and before we even finished lunch her shift ended and she got ready to leave without giving us a warning. Very tasty and the service is super quick ! Went here twice while on travel for work in Mechanicsburg PA. My friend and coworker suggested this place because it was near work and we would be able to be in and out on our lunch break. The first time I ordered a beef enchilada and beef burrito that came with rice and beans. It was very tasty and the portions and price were not overwhelming. And the second time I ordered a chicken quesadilla and rice and Mexican fried ice cream. I absolutely loved the ice cream ! To me all of the El Rodeos are the same and that's good that they're consistent with each other. I don't get to this one too often. I used to eat at this location all of the time when I lived in Mechanicsburg but now that I am in the Harrisburg area I don't get here much but since I work in CampHill I will occasionally get out here for some food. Like other El Rodeos they're quick, they're tasty, and they always hit the spot for me. I have tried a number of menu items but my favorite is the enchiladas verdes. For lunch you get two and it comes with a side of rice. Its the perfect amount for a delicious lunch and it goes great with their warm chips and salsa. The salsa is a little watery but I don't mind. To me it tastes great! Fried ice cream is yummy too though I rarely have room. read more

We, 2 people, tried the #1.huevos rancheros and #2chorizo con huevos. The eggs on #1 ordered overeasy with sauce on the side. What we got was a plate with the eggs completely burned. Black burned spots were on it, chorizo on plate #2 was even burned. We waited over 15 minutes for someone to return to even get a refill on a beverage. Fidget about ordering what you want just tell them food for however many people in your party and how for the best. Never going there again. read more

We have ordered delivery from here before and weren't that impressed so really our experience dining in shouldn't have been as disappointing as it was. For starters, way too many workers and not much help. The food was bland and unappetizing. My husband ordered a margarita and when he was done with it, he wasn't asked if he wanted another or any other drink. We asked for limes and were told they didn't have any limes. It was so confusing because a lot of their drinks require fresh-squeezed lime juice. Also, there was a weird event that occurred - I took my daughter to the restroom and there were 2 employees in the stalls talking and when they came out, one of them looked either drunk or high because she was slurring her words, swaying, had bloodshot eyes. I asked her if she was okay but she mumbled something incoherent and I took my daughter out of that environment. It just made the whole establishment seem unprofessional. They really need to work on their food and customer service. The music was cool, though. That's why they're getting that 1 star. read more

This was our first time visiting El Rodeo, I was told about this place by a coworker (who's from Mexico) and, like me, was also in the area on a work related trip. She knew I enjoyed Mexican cuisine so she said I may want to try it. When I asked if it was good she shrugged as she told me she only had the fajitas and that they were okay. She then said to have a margarita first and the food would be better. I thought she was kidding. But, just the same I ordered a traditional lime margarita with a salted rim while my wife ordered a strawberry frozen one. Mine was good but hers was very sweet, syrupy and had a funny stale taste. I wish I could remember exactly what we ordered, however this was a few weeks ago and to my disappointment when I checked my receipt I find that it wasn't itemized. I believe I had two beef enchiladas with refried beans and rice while my wife had the spinach and poblano pepper enchiladas with black beans and rice. My meal was hot and flavorful, but only about average for a Mexican restaurant. My wife's however, was a different story. Her beans and rice were lacking flavor, her spinach enchilada had little to no spinach or cheese and her pepper enchilada had one small pepper and very long piece of stem. I thought perhaps pepper stems are used in Mexican dishes but my coworker assured me they are not. We laid the stem aside (see photo) and when our scarcely seen waitress finally took it away she made no apology. The decor was tacky Mexican - like you might see in a cheap tourist spot in Mexico - I don't mean that as a criticism I think it fit the place. Perhaps it was a bad day for the restaurant. In fact I would have given El Rodeo 3 stars if I had been eating alone and the service was better. On the other hand if I was eating alone and was served just what my wife was served, I would have lowered it to one star. But between the two meals I gave El Rodeo 2 stars. Maybe we should have stuck to what my coworker suggested, a strong drink and the fajitas. read more

Ordered Carnitas Mexicana. But, substituted pork with chicken. It was very good. The food did come out very fast, so I kept thinking how much of it was cooked after I placed the order. Went during lunch hour with colleagues. The speed of food serving made sure we reached back in time :) They serve chips and salsa on the house. Chips were warm and salsa was ok. You pay extra for nachos/salsa, which is ok if the rest of the food is good. Our rice wasn't cooked correctly and was actually crunchy. My dish with nachos and chicken came out with all the nachos being soggy to the point I couldn't finish the small plate. The service was also poor. My husband and I were honestly hoping for the best when we ordered from here but the food was cold and Taco Bell quality for a much higher price... we also ordered almost 50.00 in food (takeout) and gave a 20% tip however we asked for a side of salsa (as we had a lot of food and were not given any) and they told us they had to charge us 4.00 for about half a cup... I would not recommend this restaurant when you can get the same thing for 1/8th the price at Taco Bell and they won't charge you for taco sauce. read more

Great Mexican food! My AP class went today, and the servers were great about speaking Spanish with us. The food was all brought out at the same time, which I appreciate, but it was a bit cold. Everything tasted delicious, though. I had fresh guacamole, Tacos Del Mar, and churros. The churros were hot and delicious the way I like them! Typical chain Mexican far franchise. The steak is very good. Chicken slightly dry. The hot sauce is like someone pepper sprayed your food with OC Spray from law enforcement. I warn you about that. I ordered a frozen lime margarita which was mostly not frozen and little salt. This used to be a go to place for us... We enjoyed their generous complementary chips and salsa while we waited for our meals and drinks. But those days are gone as they now gave us a half full small basket of chips and charge $2.40ish for a refill. They also refused to accept a $5 off coupon because it was on my phone not printed on paper even though it didn't say it had to be printed to be redeemed. That's BS. It's clear they are trying to nickel and dime their loyal customers. So they pretty much killed there own market differentiator and are just another meh Mexican restaurant with poor service. Okay not the first time I have been here although it's been probably 2 yrs. the decor is ver colorful but the booths are a little tight for a person my size. Waitress was good didn't come back a whole lot. Menu while still large is shorter than I remember with less combos on it which makes it somewhat easier! Portions were good for the price. Now for the food critique! Most of the things I had on my plate were all soft corn flour tortillas with wrapped ground beef with sauce and a couple of different sauces. It was actually called their grande dinner but really couldn't tell the difference between one thing another except for the sauces! The Refried beans were received beans and the rice wasn't the best I ever had,y wife had the Chicken enchiladas they were nothing special either and if it wasn't for the chicken you would actually think we were having almost the same meal! Our appetizer was chili con queso two more flour tostada do covered with cheese sauce. While not over all terrible and really not that bad as far as flavor not the best we've had or even mediocre.
