Looking to treat myself a little on a cold, gray Wednesday afternoon, I decided to finally stop into Denim Coffee in Carlisle. I've walked and driven past it many times but had somehow never made it inside. Since Denim was also participating in the 2026 Cumberland Valley Coffee & Chocolate Trail, it felt like the perfect excuse to check it out and grab a quick late-afternoon pick-me-up. I walked in around 4pm and found a handful of people inside -- some chatting quietly, others working on laptops. The space was clean, calm, and welcoming, with soft music playing overhead. The woman at the counter was an absolute sunbeam on an otherwise dreary afternoon, greeting me warmly and happily taking my order. I went with an iced coffee with sugar-free vanilla syrup (extra sweet, please!) and oat milk. Total came to $5.25. While she prepared my drink, I took a moment to look around and realized what a great view Denim offers from their bar seating area. Full glass windows with stools looking out over the square in Carlisle make it a fantastic people-watching spot. That afternoon, the Farmers Market was set up across the square, and it was fun watching people dash between stands while dodging raindrops to grab their weekly goodies. It struck me as a perfect place to meet a friend, spend a few hours working on a laptop, or just decompress with a coffee and watch the world go by. Denim also had a small sweet treat case with snacks that would pair nicely with coffee. I stuck with just the drink this time, but everything looked tempting enough that I'd definitely consider adding a pastry next visit. A few minutes later my name was called and my drink was waiting at the end of the counter. One interesting touch: they placed the container of oat milk beside my coffee so I could add exactly as much as I wanted. It's a small detail, but not something you see at many coffee shops, and I appreciated the flexibility. The iced coffee itself was excellent. Unlike some places where iced coffee tastes like watered-down brown liquid, Denim's actually tasted like coffee -- strong, smooth, and delivering a solid caffeine boost. Overall: great service, really good coffee, reasonable prices, and a cozy spot right in the heart of town. The only real challenge is parking since it's so close to the square. Street parking is available nearby, but depending on the time of day you may need to circle a bit. All in all, a great little coffee stop and I'm glad I finally walked through the door. read more

I was excited to try the panini with apple on it as I love that combination. Unfortunately it had so much whole grain mustard, both top and bottom bread, that I tasted little else. I tried to use napkins to wipe away all of the mustard, but after many napkins, it was better but still overtaken. I ordered a hot chocolate to go for my daughter. She said it was good. I visited Denim about a year ago and had a very poor experience. The business reached out to me and invited me back with an offer of a free beverage and baked item. This time my experience was much better. The coffee was ready and hot and tasted great. I also enjoyed my scone which was large, moist, and delicious. I enjoy walking around Carlisle and had my order to go but could see sitting in the shop and watching people and vehicles going by the square. I could not figure out which location I would be ordering from when I looked to order online ahead of when i arrived. Fortunately the wait was not long for a coffee and smoothie. The location was convenient for jumping off and on I-81 but parking was tricky. We ended up standing in a no parking zone with the other person in the car. The coffee and smoothie was fantastic and many people were enjoying their food and drinks inside from several tables. read more

I attended a Yelp event today at Denim. I ordered an iced carmel cold brew and a caramel pecan brownie. The brownie was awesome! It was not overly sweet like I expected. It was very moist and extremely delicious. However, the coffee was another story. My first sip gave me a jolt. It tasted as if it was a combination of really strong and soured. I thought maybe the milk I put in it was spoiled. I took it back and the gal at the counter explained that their cold brew was really high acid and had somewhat of a bitter/sour taste. She was more than willing to take it off my hands and provide me with another drink of my choice. I got a caramel latte and it was great! The gal was extremely friendly and helpful and seemed to really enjoy what she is doing. I live nearby, but this was my first stop at Denim. I think that I will enjoy it again soon! read more

This is my second time at this location, and it is some of the best coffee you might ever taste. Denim is super focused on the quality of their coffee and has invested heavily in making it delicious. From the high-end equipment to the water filtration (RO and adding beneficial minerals back), you won't be disappointed! The interior is really chill and the service is great! Highly recommend visiting one of their locations. PRO TIP: Ask to try a tiny bit of coffee first. They might let you try just a little, and I encourage you to taste it black. Don't get me wrong. It's a good coffee shop. Very nice and good coffee and pastries. The baristas are nice and friendly. I came by yesterday and loved the baristas there. They both was nice and kind. They made the coffee I bought really good. I had asked one of the baristas about their schedules and how they like working with coffee. Because they both was nice. What a fantastic gem in quality of food, quick and friendly sergice, and atmosphere! I enjoyed a peach apricot smoothie which was delicious and served quickly. As someone who does not drink coffee, my only caveat is that I wish there were a few more non-coffee crafted srink options available on the menu. However, there are some to choose from, including hot chocolate and smoothies; bottled drinks are also available. The space is beautiful, large, and clean. There are plenty of tables and chairs, so catching up with a friend or catching up with a friend is inviting and relaxing. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in Carlisle! read more

Stopped in here on a rainy Saturday while wandering around Carlisle doing Halloweeny things. So my initial impression was that this place is kind of snooty and hipster. I don't think I was wrong. Adorable local coffee shop/cafe in downtown Carlisle. My daughter and I stopped in on our journey home and it did not disappoint! Latte and latte art were delicious/beautiful. We stopped by denim for a late breakfast on a whim and it was very enjoyable. I got the winter latte and it was amazing. They do stop serving breakfast sandwiches at 11am and we arrive 5 minutes late so we will have to stop by again to try those. The lunch sandwiches were good, so I'm really looking forward to the trying breakfast. They do provide high chairs as well. The space can get quite loud due to the industrial design. I have to say that this might be best coffee in town. When you walk in the beautiful aroma of coffee hits you. It's at a great location with really big windows that lets light in and for viewing beautiful downtown Carlisle. While visiting I notice what an inclusive place this is. I am pretty sure this place has single handedly changed my brothers life. While I am huge on places like these over any large chain that mass produces their overly sugared out 50% syrup "lattes" - my brother is not quite experienced in it yet. So when I asked while visiting, what kind of coffee shops you got? His response was "we don't have any so good luck". WELL LOOK HERE I FOUND THIS GEM IN 10 MIN ON YELP. I love their beans, light yet just a hint of bitterness to it, which means you can manipulate the flavors with almost anything. Sometimes my coffee or teas are super sweet and others barely have anything at all in them. I have tried both locations in Carlisle (the one on the square and the other in Dickinson Campus) and neither were able to provide good, and consistent coffee.
