    Mussels & frites with friends
    Jana L.

I just love the beer hall vibe here. It's not fancy, but always such a good time. Expect a loud, family-friendly, beer-forward place with friendly (if not busy staff) when you come here. I would never say that it is quick service, but it is always a great time! I can't really tell you about anything else but the currywurst and the mussels because honestly... If you are getting anything else on the menu, you are doing it wrong ... also, getting the frites with the curry catchup...catsup...ketchup... however you spell that word, IS.A.MUST! Seriously - what beats a cold Belgian Beer (and there are MANY to choose from), a 2lb pot of mussels (plus 1lb for an appetizer, because, why not) and an afternoon/evening with friends in a lively pub?!?

What a wonderful place to have a bite. My wife and I visit about once or twice a month and they never disappoint. Ask to be seated in Jeremy's section. He is an amazing server. Drinks never go empty, always comes by at just the right time. Really knows how it's done. Excellent service. The frites are AMAZING. Double fried so very crispy and crunchy without being overdone. Many dipping sauces to choose from. I prefer the mustard mayonnaise. My wife always gets the mussels appetizer. Always good. Mussels are their specialty. She also has gotten the grilled cheese the past couple times. Very good. I've found a hit with the pork Jagerschnitzel. Sooooooooo good. Highly recommended. We will be back.

Delicious food and cozy atmosphere in the heart of downtown Carlisle. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh and arrived quickly. So many great things on the menu, it was hard to choose. And definitely save room for dessert!

The atmosphere was nice and the waiter was friendly, I went here for lunch with my boyfriend and his parents. They lived in the area for decades and really never came here or maybe once. The Brussel sprouts were fantastic! I had the lamb burger which was really good, just a tad dry, but other than that I would visit again!

    Pork schnitzel with fries. Amazing!

I finally got to try this place for lunch and was very pleased with the experience. The beer selection is great and I was very excited to see Chimay on draft! The inside is typical pub vibes with dark wood accents. They also have a patio and the tables have umbrellas--it looks like a cute area. I ordered a burger with a salad as a side. The quality of the meat was excellent. The burger was super juicy, had a nice amount of toppings, and the homemade mayo was fabulous. I also really enjoyed the shallot vinaigrette dressing on the salad. My husband orderd a pork schnitzel with the fries--yes yes yes to this dish! I love schnitzel, but not many places do this dish. The mushroom gravy on it was creamy & rich. The breading on the pork was divinely crispy. Mmm. The fries are double-fried in beef tallow, so there are no complaints here. Our server was good and the prices were on par with the quality.

Upon arriving, we were quickly seated. Waited a few minutes for our server to bring water, but wasn't long. Just enough time to look over menus and figure out what we wanted. Plenty of beer & sours on tap and a full menu of beverages to choose from. Just be careful, some of these are really strong and you can get wasted before even getting an appetizer. Loved the cherry lambic and Flemish sour. The frites were delicious and so rich. I'm guessing from being fried in beef tallow. The lamb burger was wonderfully seasoned and perfectly portioned. Only downside was I asked for medium and it came out well done which put it on the drier side than I like. The carbonnade was sooooo good. The beef was so tender and rich in flavor from being braised in beer. The potatoes were so full of flavor from being in the stew. I just wished they gave a little more of the beef because it was so good. Had plenty of gravy left so put some frites in there and finished it off. Overall very happy with the lunch. Atmosphere is very nice too. Busy, but not so much that you can't converse with your party. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for Belgian food and a first time experience, stop in and enjoy!

Another very overdue review (kindergarten teacher life! ), but this one is especially special…read morebecause Bert and the Elephant became part of our wedding story long before our wedding day. About a year before our wedding, my husband and I were exploring Lancaster as a potential wedding location. While walking down the street, I spotted a giant pink elephant. For those who don't know me, Delirium is my all-time favorite beer, and its logo is a pink elephant, so of course, it immediately caught my attention. When we walked inside, and I realized it was a Belgian beer bar and restaurant, I was absolutely ecstatic. Bert, the owner, noticed how excited we were, and we started talking. Bert is incredible! He is so knowledgeable about all of his different beers and cares about every single detail. He even has a different glass for almost every beer because, to him, the details matter. But what really stood out was how he treats people. Bert makes you feel like family. Before we left that day, he even gifted me a little ceramic pink elephant straight from his decor. I was absolutely giddy, and I still have that little elephant proudly displayed in my home today. I knew right then and there that we had to have our after-party at Bert and the Elephant. And we did! We were able to rent out the entire place for two hours after our wedding. We had an open bar for the first hour and delicious finger foods for a late-night snack. I'm sure you're thinking, "That must have been insanely expensive," but it wasn't! And it was the perfect location, right down the street from our hotel, so everyone could walk there easily. Our wedding day fell during a heatwave, and unfortunately, the heat definitely affected how many people could make it to the after-party. Everyone was exhausted from the day, but Bert and his staff still made sure that everyone who came had an amazing time. They were welcoming and attentive, making the night feel so special. Bert and the Elephant turned out to be the perfect way to end our wedding night. What started as a random pink elephant catching my eye on a walk through Lancaster turned into one of my favorite wedding memories. We are so grateful to Bert and his staff for helping us end the night with great drinks, delicious food, and even better memories.

Either one is fine, as long as you do not overindulge it. In short, the crepes here are nothing short of delicious. A one woman show in downtown Harrisburg has me enjoying this repeatedly. Everything is fresh, plentiful, and thoroughly flavorful. The lady who makes the crepes is super sweet and genuine. Most of her customers are European and I am not surprised. The prices are incredibly fair and that is why I allowed myself to gamble on two crepes instead of one. My only gripe is the paper plate with silverware. Maybe it is a cheap way to save money, but invest in good plates. We eat with our eyes, and by getting a nice plate served with these beautiful crepes would give this a five star review. Instead it feels like I got something at Panera. I am now ready to take the next step when I go to Paris in the fall.

My Pepsi didn't taste flavorful though Alyssa said she checked the soda bags and they were full. I swapped for sweetened ice tea. Alyssa was a super friendly server who checked on us regularly. This was my second visit to Dalicia -- my first was for dessert (which unfortunately didn't win me…read moreover), and this time my adventure buddy was set on giving their dinner menu a try. Menu unseen, expectations unclear...so off we went! Knowing from past experience that the restaurant can feel drafty, I arrived layered up and ready for a cozy-but-practical evening on a cold February night. We walked in around 6pm without a reservation and were seated without issue as we were the only two people inside other than folks working. We started with the flatbread appetizer (feta, spinach, artichoke, mozzarella, mushrooms, peppers, scallions, turkey pepperoni on flaky pastry - $8), and honestly -- this was the highlight of the night. The pastry was thin and crisp, piled generously with toppings, and finished with what tasted like a garlicky sauce that brought everything together beautifully. Light, flavorful, and genuinely delicious. In hindsight, I should have just ordered a second one and called it dinner while things were still making me do the happy food dance. For my entrée, I ordered the Turkey Pesto Crepe ($12.25), described as sliced turkey, mushrooms, tomatoes, provolone mozzarella cheese, and sun-dried tomato pesto. On paper, this sounded fantastic -- a combination that should have delivered distinct flavors and textures. Unfortunately, everything blended together into one uniform consistency, and the individual ingredients didn't stand out the way I had hoped. It wasn't inedible -- I just lost interest after a few bites because nothing felt memorable. My adventure buddy ordered the Sarma (Stuffed Cabbage) ($18.95), described as cabbage stuffed with beef, onions, and rice, served with potatoes (his choice instead of rice). Again, the ingredients sounded promising, but the overall experience landed in the "fine" category -- nothing wrong, but nothing particularly exciting either. The potatoes fell into the same space: acceptable, but lacking seasoning or personality that might elevate the dish. We paired dinner with Pepsi Zero ($2.25 each -- note for fellow Diet Pepsi fans, they don't carry it here). Total for the evening came to about $55 including tip. It may simply not be my flavor style, but I'm always glad to support local and try something new.
