The Hamilton is a Carlisle staple!! Whenever I go home, I always have to go in and get a hotchee dog. I grew up going there and I'm always greeted as soon as I walk in the door. The interior has always been clean and the food is the best.

Hamilton Restaurant is a staple in Carlisle. Home to the famous Hotchee Dog! We always go in for a Hotchee Dog, hand pumped Vanilla Coke, and fries with a side of gravy. The service is amazing and everyone knows each other or makes a point to get to know you. Tommy and the whole family are incredible! The ambiance is very clean and classy and I love that the family shows there Greek heritage of art and statues around the room.

Hard to go wrong at the Hamilton. We visited a couple weeks ago and I nearly got breakfast. Today we decided to try their breakfast and weren't disappointed: from the friendly service to the delicious food, it was very enjoyable. Don't be filled by the chocolate chip pancakes: they tasted like a Hershey bar was mixed in but the chips were all underneath so they were nice and gooey and melty.

Breakfast: Mushroom and cheese omelette, home fries and rye toast.

I had no intention of going to breakfast this morning, but I had made an appointment to drop off hazardous material at the recycle center, and as usual, I was really early. So I stopped in at Hamilton Restaurant. I was very pleasantly greeted by the staff with a glass of cold water in front of me before I even sat down. I decided to sit at the bar since it was just me, and I ordered my favorite breakfast. The omelette came quickly and it was hot and very good with generous portions. The staff were friendly and spoke Greek (which makes me know that the food is going to be good before I even tasted it!) I thought that it was going to be insanely busy, but it was not as busy as I thought and there was ample space at the bar for me to sit and enjoy my food. I'll be back!

This is a busy spot all the locals know. It's not fancy or pretentious. Most people don't even need a menu. In fact, the most popular item isn't even officially on the printed menu. Just ask for a hotchee dog with gravy fries and cole slaw. 10 bucks later you're full and happy and ready for a night out on the town.

Always a fan of nostalgia and history. The hot dog was decent and the chili sauce was a bit on the bland side. Onions chopped fine like crushed ice which was good. Average taste. Cash only.

This was such a cool and unexpected experience. We stopped while roadtripping and were just looking for hot dogs (we have a new goal to try as many hotdog places as possible). We saw it on the map and along with some fun history, we decided it was worth the stop. It looks like a diner, but when walking in it's obvious everyone comes for the dogs. We ordered what they're known for, and were absolutely delighted at how good the hotdogs were. We sat at the counter like you have to in a place so cool, and enjoyed our lunch thoroughly. Home of the Hot-Chee Dog baby! 10/10... and definitely recommend.

Stopped in for the famous Hot-Chee dog. It was excellent and the white variety of cheese put a nice spin on the standard chili dogs.

You gotta love a neat little family run local mom and pop. This place is neat it's a mus cost when in Carlisle PA. I'm a sucker for a chili dog and this place is famous for these tasty tubes. I'm sure they make other things but make sure to get a Hot Chee Dog. The people are wonderful the place is quaint and very "local" Enjoy!!!

We made reservations for Friday night. It was 6 of us . The table we were sat at was barely enough for 4. Service was quick to take our orders. The kitchen was very slow. The place was very busy. So it was understandable. Their menu has a nice selection. They do offer soups that are not on the menu. Our came out all messed up. The server knew it . And busted her butt to fix it .prices overall were high for the over value. Flavor of are meals was mixed. I would not rush back. Not enough bang for the money. Service was excellent from the entire staff from start to finish. I do however recommend the crab cake sandwich.

Hamilton is always going to be a staple in Carlisle! It gives welcome family, come on in! From the food, to the service it is a must try. The waitresses run circles around the restaurant to proud for their customers. The ambiance is family friendly. Everyone has to try a hotchee dog in their li

The venue can be overwhelming, with lots of choices. One section of the menu was dedicated to hotdogs, one section is dedicated to non-hotdog entrées, and also Appetizers, desserts, and drinks. The dogs here are amazing! I loved the Chicago dog, but when I had my a bite of the Big Mac dog I wished I got that one too. Then we had the pastrami dog making it a three dog night. The fries are also especially delicious because they are crunchy and battered. My little one had a kids meal that came with fries and he was forced to share. With any hotdog, you get your choice of beef,/chicken, or veggie. We went beef all the way, and it was a great choice. The dogs are split and grilled on a flat top, and maintain all of their juicy goodness. And the toppings just enhanced everything. If you're a hotdog purist, ketchup and relish or mustard and onions would also make for perfect dogs. The staff was friendly and super accommodating to a feral toddler. For three hotdogs, a kids meal, I need rings, and drinks, the $40 price felt like a bargain. Great quality and value.

Husband got the foot long coney dog and my son got a sausage with some kind of sauce on it. I eat about 2 hot dogs a year so when I say it was delicious, I mean it. Now the bad. My 4 year old grandson got grilled cheese. It took forever for the food to come out. Like forever forever. He ate like nothing bc he drank his whole drink while we were waiting as we had been at the park for a couple of hours beforehand. I know, not unusual for a little guy. That's not the real problem. I got a side of onion rings and it was almost $5 for like 6 onion rings. Ketchup in little packets... not cost efficient and annoying for us. Had to track down waitress to get husband a second beer and me a first. There was no air conditioning and it was so hot in there!! AND THE WORST THING OF ALL... WHEN THE BILL CAME THERE WAS A 20% INCLUDED GRATUITY FOR "LARGE PARTY", which was not discussed. First of all, it was 4 ppl. That is not a large party. Second of all, this was not mentioned by staff. I see this sometimes with a group of 8 or more and it is usually noted in a menu somewhere or mentioned. But 4 people is not a large party. My husband and I both worked in the restsurant industry in our younger years. We get it, servers need to be taken care of, but come on. BEWARE. I would have gone back for that hot dog even with the sloooowww service and just not gotten a side, but that automatic gratuity thing is ridiculous. Customer lost.

The total came to $14.79, which is an awesome lunchtime bargain. I honestly can't remember the last time I fed two people lunch for under $15. Major budget win. It had been 15+ years since my last chili dog from Jimmy's, so while running post-Christmas errands and finding ourselves nearby with no real timeline, we jumped on the opportunity. Things have definitely changed since my last visit. It's clear Jimmy's has dealt with some difficult customers over the years--numerous signs now ask folks to grab their food and head out. No eating inside, no public restrooms, and no replacing lost, stolen, or forgotten beverages or chips "due to a high rise in thefts and customer walk-outs." Back in the day, I remember a packed counter with customers chatting and eating. That era may be gone--but thankfully, the food hasn't changed where it matters most. My love for Jimmy's chili cheese dog remains completely intact. It's not the hot dog or the bun doing the heavy lifting here: simple white bun, basic hot dog, lots of onions and mustard. No, it's *that chili*. Good lawd, that chili. I don't know what magic is in it--maybe the greasy orange residue it leaves behind--but one bite instantly reminded me why Jimmy's holds such a special place in my heart. I demolished the entire thing in seconds, with only audible moans to signal that I had not, in fact, been transported to actual Food Heaven. The fries were a solid supporting act--thick-cut potatoes, perfectly fried, piping hot. They came unsalted, but salt packets were thoughtfully included in the to-go bag, so no real issue there. The portion size was bigger than expected for the price. The hot sausage with cheese was another win: perfectly grilled, slightly charred, and just spicy enough to satisfy. Served on the same basic white bun with American cheese, it was simple, classic, and done right. Plenty of free, on-site parking is available right out front since Jimmy's is located in a strip mall. Be sure to check the hours--6am to 4pm most days. Jimmy's won't satisfy a dinner chili dog craving, but it will absolutely fill your belly at lunchtime and leave you wanting more!

The burger has its own special sauce and that, along with the pickle and onion, made it delicious. We also loved the pork bbq sandwich which was topped with a sweeter pickled relish. Yum! I especially enjoyed their milkshakes which are made with real ice cream and are thick and creamy. The black and white was perfect, but we also tried their peanut butter chocolate. Divine! They then put a number on your car, and when the food is ready, bring it over to your vehicle on a tray which attaches to your window. We were so excited, and everything was delicious. Keep in mine, they're cash only and when you're finished, they ask you to turn on your hazards and will come back and pick up your tray and trash. FYI, the bathrooms were very clean. I've driven by Joy's a million times and somehow never noticed it before. It's tucked into a busy strip mall and easy to miss if you're not specifically looking for it. Spoiler alert: you should be looking for it. My quest for the evening included both a burger and a chili dog, because they both looked amazing and I wanted the full Joy's experience. My adventure buddy and I arrived around 5pm and I was honestly surprised to see only one other person inside when we walked in. We grabbed a booth by the front door and looked over the menu again to finalize our plan. Since it was our first visit, we decided to order a few things and split them so we could try more. We ordered the loaded chili dog topped with chili, cheese, onions, and mustard ($5.25) and one of the Big Block Burgers -- specifically the Joy's Burger -- which came with grilled onions and mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, LA sauce, Swiss cheese, and fresh cut fries ($12.99). Naturally we added bacon for an extra $0.99 because that felt like the right decision. We also each grabbed a Diet Pepsi (to maintain some illusion of balance) for $2.50 each. Our total came to $25.69 before tip, which felt like a pretty solid deal for a two-person Friday night dinner adventure. The setup at Joy's has a classic old-school diner feel. The grill sits right behind the seating counter so you can watch your food being made, and they mix milkshakes right out front as well. The place is simple and no-frills -- and in my experience, those "keep it simple and do it well" places are often the real heavy hitters. The chili dog came out first, and the first thing I noticed was that this thing was HEAVY. This wasn't your typical skinny hot dog -- it was a full ¼-pound dog absolutely loaded with chili. The flavor reminded me of a Cincinnati-style chili dog and it was really good. The chili was flavorful instead of just decorative, the mustard and onions were balanced perfectly, and the bun did its job without getting in the way. As someone who takes chili dogs very seriously, I have to give Joy's credit for delivering a straightforward, perfectly executed chili dog. Next came the burger and fresh cut fries, and when I say this burger was big, I mean BIG. Two patties tall with all the toppings stacked high. We sliced it in half and immediately dug in. The bacon was perfectly crisp, the mushrooms and Swiss were generous, and the whole thing just tasted like a real, proper burger. Not a chain burger that started life frozen and tastes like it could have been reheated in my microwave at home. This was the kind of burger you picture when you say you're craving a burger. The fries were exactly what you want from fresh-cut fries -- the smaller ones nice and crispy, and the bigger ones crispy on the outside with that soft, fluffy inside. Splitting the chili dog and burger turned out to be the right call. It would have been easy to eat everything solo, but my stomach probably would not have forgiven me later. Our server was super friendly and attentive throughout the visit. While we were there, a few more people came in to eat, but overall it felt relaxed and easy for a Friday evening. Parking is free since Joy's sits in a strip mall, but it can be a little tight because there are several other popular businesses nearby. We were able to find a spot without trouble, but I could see it getting tricky during busier times. If you're looking for solid burgers, legit chili dogs, and an old-school diner vibe, Joy's Grill & Burger House is absolutely worth seeking out -- especially if you're like me and always on the lookout for your next great burger or chili dog adventure.
