Obviously, we came to this place for brunch following Yelp's recommendations, comments and pictures. So I will reciprocate the favor. We also loved the bread with olive oil and spices. The Arancini balls were crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside (recommended). The salmon was cooked to perfection, the potatoes and the spinach were not up to the same level. The chicken marsala and parmesan were both great, my in laws left empty plates so I couldn't catch a bite. Finally, the caramel salty cheesecake was unique and special. One of the better Cleveland Italian restaraunts, and there are many in this town. Plenty of parking. It's its own building. Smaller dining room so plan ahead. The wait staff was excellent. The decor was upscale. My caprese salad was a good start, rate it a 7/10. My entree was the papparadelle bolognese. Essentially 3 meat Italian sauce over pasta. I could only eat half because the portion was very generous, 8/10. The tomatoes here are good which probably helps with all the dishes. They also have persecco, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio on the wine list and many more. But I can't try them all ;-) read more

Being home for the holidays, we went here as a family to celebrate Mom's birthday. What a treat. We opened to table with some bruschetta along with the garlic bread and oil that comes with the table. If you like garlic bread: look no further. We demolished many baskets of the stuff before food stated arriving. We also got a bottle of Australian Riesling for the occasion. It's on the sweet side, but good. The entrees took a little while, but it wasn't too much of a bother as our family isn't often all together too often these days. Onto the dishes: Wow. Mastercrafted and excellently prepared. I tried a bite of the Marsala. Superb. I personally tried the aribata. Let me just say, I'm a pretty adventurous eater, and frequently spend time in Indian establishments and enjoy food with some heat. This dish had me on my toes and pushed the limit. That being said: it was delicious. The pasta was cooked as it should be and all the flavors blended together as you would expect from a fine dining Italian establishment. Server was extremely kind and quick even when I was chasing shots by how embarrassed I was by my mom (to each their own, right?) The family loves coming here for Italian food and the bread is beautiful. My mom loves the vodka ravioli (this is a loose interpretation of the menu item) and I loved my Linguini Tarrantina (yes, I Googled that Don't judge because if you look for vodka ravioli you will find it...sheesh.) First time visiting this quaint little place. Walked into a nice atmosphere, only 4 seats at bar and about 10 tables. The menu choices are very awesome featuring some homemade pastas, pizza, chicken or veal options and Osso bucco. Our table of five opted for al different options, cavatelli and meatballs, gnocchi, aglio ollio with shrimp, homemade ravioli and a pizza. All was super pro style food. Went today and the food was so delicious! Fresh pasta and quick service. I do recommend making a reservation if you want to dine-in. We didn't know but luckily there was bar seating available. I recommend calling the day before to make a reservation, especially if you want to go during the weekend. PORTION SIZES ARE HUGE! I felt a little overwhelmed at the portion size. I only ate 1/3 of the dish and took the rest to go. I got cavatelli and meatballs and the pasta to sauce to meatball proportion was great. Love this restaurant this was our second time here. It's a small restaurant so please make reservations. My husband and I love the food . I had the meatball appetizer so fluffy and tasty the sauce on top was good with lists of melted mozzarella. My husband had the shrimp cocktail perfectly cooked. As we were waiting for our dinner they brought warm buttery rolls with sprinkles of herbs on top. It was so hard to stop eating while waiting for our main meal linguine Teratoratina. This was a beautifully cooked seafood to perfection large scallops , clams some still in shells and the others shucked , mussels, shrimp in buttery garlic sauce . Our new favorite. With our meal I had two cosmopolitans. They did not skim on the alcohol. The server was attentive to our needs including water ,all ways refilling. We were full but with the large portions we took a lot of leftovers home and my husband and I had two meal each with one more for lunch tomorrow. Visiting from out of state, very excited to try. Mixed experience. The feel and ambiance felt great, modern, cozy, and with a good chic vibe. Long wait, crowded and loud, it was Saturday night. Staff very nice. My wife ordered lobster ravioli with vodka cream sauce. I had what was advertised as Gnocchi La Toscano. Lobster ravioli were delicious, filling, dough etc. Nicely al dente. Succulent large scallops and shrimp complemented the dish nicely. Unfortunately, the dish was drowning in the vodka cream sauce that my wife just did not enjoy. It was overpowering the otherwise great seafood taste. Now, my dish. I love Italian food. And I love gnocchi. Not sure what this was. The dumplings had the consistency of overcooked Korean rice cakes (hard and chewy). I think I tasted the potatoes but would not be surprised if made from dried potato flakes. Extremely disappointing. Just go to the closest Trader Joe's. Now, my sauce (advertised as tomato cream sauce) was simply the same sauce as my wife's except with some sausage, mushrooms, and peas thrown in. The sauce was rich and creamy, and there was a lot of it. I am sorry, but this dish was just not right. The website advertises an authentic Italian cuisine. The popular bread and dipping sauce were interesting. Had nothing like that ever before, in Italy or in the States. Just too much of Parmigiano and olive oil extravaganza. Our family are fans of the Quagliata family's Crostatas restaurant so we thought we would give this a try for my birthday. Unfortunately, this restaurant is a mere shadow of Crostatas. Crostatas is the very definition of fresh ingredients making great dishes. We found the ambiance (very noisy, cramped tables, little walk space) to be severely lacking, the food lacking execution and intent. My wife and I both had veal dishes, which were the hallmark of their Giovanni's restaurant; my son had their steak. All were meh. The veal piccata was literally swimming in a pasty sauce--really just ordinary, and not what a veal piccata is supposed to be (fresh and lemony)--even the veal was a disappointment. The steak was overcooked and lacking a bit of aging. We were deeply disappointed, and we will not be going back to this restaurant. read more

Had a little bit of a rough experience last night. The service, while friendly, was choppy. For example, we had appetizers and salad prior to the entree, but the plates stayed on the table until the entrees arrived. The grilled Romain salad with heirloom tomatoes was a quarter head of Romain with a tomato slice that was a little grainy and had really no characteristic of an heirloom tomato. The biggest disappointment, the linguini with white clams. I guess the price point is very good, but when I get this dish, I'm expecting the clams to all be from the shell. Supplementing with canned clams is just a little disappointing. Just to be clear, it was seasoned and prepared well, but I'd prefer to pay more for 100% clams out of the shell. The garlic bread balls are just impossible to resist. Crispy, chewy, and just a guilty pleasure. I want some now. read more

Made a Sunday reservation at CT based mostly on some fond (but faded) memories and convenience for my dinner companion. So glad we returned after all these years! The entire experience was perfect. So we brought my in-laws here for a "fabulous Italian meal". Unfortunately I noticed my Mozzarella Caprese by the bathroom on a cardboard box! I thought, there's no way that could be my meal. Maybe it's a sample meal. As it sits on a box for 15 minutes in the bathroom hallway. Well IT WAS MY MEAL. OMG I about died. So disappointed. We have been to this place like 4-5x but I had never ever experienced that in a restaurant EVER. Did the management change? Anyone who knows this part of the east side suburbs knows there is a true lack of great non-chain places to eat, let alone delicious Italian spots. Note this review is for the takeout experience only. My family was craving delicious Italian food and we were led to Cafe Toscano by the Yelp app. As usual, the app wasn't wrong. I had the cavatelli with meatballs and was prepared for a small and expensive portion. But alas, the price matched the portion! A delicious, non-spicy meatball accompanied doughy and delicious cavatelli. Everything was great, except, ASK FOR EXTRA SAUCE! Their sauce is delicious, but they don't put nearly enough on it. Aside from one small dollop of sauce, the dish was so dry...so I basically ended up eating just noodles with no sauce. Sadness is a lack of truly delicious sauce on great noodles. However, everything we ordered was outstanding, and we'll be back again soon either in-person or for dine-in. I am already more impressed with Cafe Toscano than I am with other local Italian spots! read more

I have been to Cafe Toscano twice, and I really haven't been impressed either time. The first time, I may have given them 3 stars, but my most recent visit was pretty disappointing. I ordered a large pizza ($20), the meatballs appetizer, and the arancini appetizer. The pizza was one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. Ironically, it's called the "Specialty de Casa". It was basically a margherita pizza on a crust of medium thickness. The taste was somewhat tolerable, but the texture was shocking. It was as if the pizza was placed in a puddle of water. I swear on my mom's life I'm not lying or exaggerating. The end crust was fine, but the rest of the crust was soaking wet. I don't mean greasy; I mean soggy and watery. To make matters worse, the cheese was overcooked and dried out. This was a 1* pizza. I've tried some of their other pizzas and they were better, not as soggy, but still nothing special. Maybe 2.5* at best. The meatballs were big as softballs and had melted cheese and tomato sauce on top. Personally, I didn't really like them, but I could see how some people might enjoy them. They didn't necessarily taste bad, but the texture was strange. It almost had the texture of vegan or vegetarian meatballs. They were chewy and had an herby, soft, bread-like quality to them. They weren't meaty in texture or taste. I will give them 2.5* because they were super big, covered in delicious sauce and cheese, and seemed fresh. I wouldn't get them again, but I think you should try them and see what you think. Maybe you'll love them. By far, I enjoyed the arancini the most. Arancini are fried cheesy risotto balls. They give you three plump arancini balls and a big container of marinara sauce for dipping. These are perfectly fried, moist, and cheesy. The sauce compliments them well. I give them 4*. I paid $43 for my takeout order, but this was easily enough for two hungry adults. If the pizza wasn't so shockingly bad, I would have given them 3 stars. But, my pizza was a disgrace. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for years and have always thought it was top notch. I was there on June 24 and had a horrible experience. My friend and I waited 70 minutes for our meal (one chicken Parmesan and one ravioli). Our waiter did not come over and check on us for 45 minutes, at which time he told us that there was an oven mishap that had been fixed and our order should be out in about 15 minutes. By the time the food arrived we had finished two bread baskets and were full. They originally offered to give us a free dessert and then they also offered to not charge for one glass of wine. We opted not to get any dessert. I just feel that the communication on the part of our waiter was very poor and it could've been handled much better. Will be leery to go again. read more

Listen, I can't really explain how good Cafe Toscano is. I can't find the words. Even if I could, they would be meaningless because your tastebuds really need to convey the message. Let me talk about the bread rolls first. So good, I wondered if I was doing something wrong. How many years will this take off my life? 1? Okay I can live with that. 5? Still cool. 10? This bread makes a strong argument. We ate here on a Saturday night, and the place was basically full, but not overwhelmingly full. Our waitress sat us, brought drinks, checked in with us, and did a great job. Wife went with Gnocchi Al Toscano, and definitely got enough for 2 meals. I think Cafe Toscano has cut back on portions, now only serving 2 meals instead of 3, and I'm perfectly fine with this. I went with the Fettuccine with Mussels, Scallops, Clams, and Shrimp (can't remember the name and it's not on their online menu). Have you ever had a meal and not had a bad bite from start to finish? That was my dinner. I don't even know how they do it. Suspect #1 is butter. Never had a bad meal here the 5 times I've visited. I've never had the pizza. We'll try that next time. read more

I visited this cuisine 3 times so far and I love everything about it. I'm new to the area but I can say it's one of the best restaurants if not the best around here. Food was really delicious. The bread and olive oil dip (with extra cheese) is something heavenly. I'm so addicted! But don't eat a a lot of bread before the main course because the portion size is HUGE!
