I always come to Joey's when I visit Chardon Ohio. They have good food and great service. Their dining room has high top tables and dining booths. Casual dress or dressy casual is fine. I love their fried pickles, so so good. They give you garlic knots, you can ask for marinara to dip them too. I normally get their hot Italian sub but decided on a pizza this time. It was good, I prefer my pizza to have more sauce. This was pretty much veggies, meat and cheese on baked dough. I used some marinara from the garlic knots. Hubby enjoyed his Alfredo with blackened shrimp instead of chicken. He liked it, said it had good flavor. The only thing he didn't like was that the shrimp still had the tails on them. read more

Went there for a tailgate before a lacrosse game. Party of 16 total over a two hour period. Please was moderately busy. Our waitress Tammy was amazing and on the ball! I used to come here all the time for eat in and take out. Last time I came my wife got the wrong order while we were eating at the restaurant. She said it wasn't what she ordered but will take it instead of having to wait. I ordered the cavatelles and hardly got any. We decided to leave and not complain. Nice looking place. Good size and nicely decorated. Lots of parking in the plaza. We sat and ordered some drinks and dinner. The server brought us 4 garlic knots right out of the oven. My partner had the appetizer meatballs and a side of fries. The meatballs were kinda small. I thought they'd be larger. You get 3 to an order. It's a good thing she got a side. They were a little cold she said. She likes her food piping hot. These were not that hot. But she said they tasted ok. I got the 6 hand breaded chicken tenders with fries and slaw. The chicken tenders were a decent size. Fries were seasoned, and the slaw tasted homemade. They were good. BBQ sauce tasted like bottled nothing special. Good portion. Definitely worth it. Server was good and fairly attentive. Dinner cost us about $30. Seems kinda high for nothing to drink except soda. But that's our world now. Higher prices all around. First time visit here. Nice open spacing in bar/dining area as well as enclosed patio. Good balance of booths, table tops, and high tops;as well as bar seating. Wife had the chicken bruschetta pasta and loved it. Great flavor and fresh ingredients. I had the sausage and pepper pasta. It was ok. I think they forget the roasted red peppers on mine and the banana peppers seemed jarred. The sausage was very good. Both pasta dishes were served piping hot and big portions. She took it that back and came back with the pizza I had just sent back asking me if I wanted it. I told her that nobody at my house would eat it. Go for the pizza, you won't regret it. I grew up in south Mentor (80's & 90's) eating Primozz and Longo's pizzas which were very similar in style and are honestly my favorite style of pizza. I've tried fancy flatbreads, wood-fired pizzas, and even pizza on trips to Italy for many years since I was a kid and nothing has made me as happy as the sausage pizza from Joey's (part of the Longo's family of restaurants) that I had this week. Unfortunately Primozz is closed now, but if you want that old-fashioned East-of-Cleveland-style pizza, look no further than Joey's. My daughter-in-law called Joey's at 4:30pm 2/25/24 to let them know we would be coming in at 5:30pm with a party of 11. When my husband and I arrived first, we were seated at one of two tables for our party. I asked if we could have the tables pushed together and was told no. I have been in there when they have pushed the tables together for large parties. I could understand if we just walked in and there wasn't the area to do this but we called ahead. The space should have been prepared for us. Then I pulled out my Joey's Fund Raiser card I bought years ago and never had the opportunity where I would need two or three large pizzas at a time. The card had no expiration date and I was told they don't take them anymore. I was getting a little upset and said if it was up to me, I would leave but it wasn't my call. The hostess asked if I wanted to talk to the manager and I said yes. He was unsympathetic to my concerns. He asked if he could do something to make it right and I said free dinners for the table. He said no and gave no counter offer and none was given. The rest of the party arrived and of course we were split up. They gave us kid's menus and no crayons. My granddaughter who is eight years old wanted a hamburger. There was no kid's hamburger on the kid's menu. The only burger on the menu was a Smash Burger (two patties) for $14. She didn't even eat half. Two stars for the food and service. The food was good and the waitress, Diane, went above and beyond. She knew I was upset and tried her best to salvage the evening. We used to stop by this restaurant about once a week. If not for dinner, then just a nightcap. But they quit serving any sort of draft light beer. They are 100% craft beers, and we're not fans. When we asked about it, we were told the manager decides the beer choices and now they only serve craft beers. Luckily, the same menu is served at a related location in Mentor which is less than 15 minutes away, and they DO serve draft beer. It's too bad that they've turned into beer snobs. read more

Generally good food, from their pizza to their chicken strips to their salads. They have a broad enough menu to satisfy toddlers to seniors and everything in between. If you go during the core dinner hours it's likely you'll run into a family or two and it can be a little noisy, but we've always had good service and good food. read more
