The easy part is the ambiance. Hands down a 5. Service was a little slow, but not terrible. Food was very average/below average and not cheap. I ultimately paid $16 for some lettuce. A very basic Cesar salad with no meat or protein. I paid another $16 for my son to get some soupy spaghetti with runny marinara sauce. And that was the price for the kid's meal. Doesn't even come with a beverage. And then $18 for a small cup of lobster bisque. It was creamy, but didn't really appear to have more than one small piece of lobster. The soft drinks were 3 bucks a piece. That small amount of food plus a 20% tip came to over $70. This was lunch with my five year old. The place is gorgeous, and I hate to say it, but this is a one and done for me. The spa looks like it would be nice, but I didn't really get to see anything beyond the restaurant. Parking was easy late in the afternoon and it was not busy. I couldn't imagine coming here when it is crazy-busy. I understand the negative reviews. I am not necessarily a 4 but the ambiance feels like it should boost it beyond a 3. This is where the 3.5 could come in handy. But the value and average quality are pushing me to 3. Love our waitress, she is THE BEST!! Beautifully decorated as always. I know you pay for the ambiance, but get real with the soup - the prices are absolutely outrageous for soup. I ordered the Italian wedding soup and for a bowl no bigger than my fist, they charge $16 and it literally had 4 little pieces of pasta. It was good, but maybe $2.50 good, NOT $16. Glad they brought back my favorite dish, shrimp a la vodka, not sure why they ever took it away; I heard several people order it around us. Also glad the Wedge salad is back to the decent portion size. For awhile they served it as half the usual portion and with rotten lettuce. read more

My wife and I went there for Valentines Day. BAD Experience. Ordered Caesar salad, wedding soup, Salmon Wellington and Lamb chops. The main dish came out before the salad and soup????? We were asked if they want us to hold it under the heating lamp??? The lamb chops were cold, the salad came out with no dressing??? Had to ask for dressing. Felt like we were being hurried out. I realized when I got home that they never served me the soup, that they charged me $16 for. $16 for a cup of soup that never came. They said they would comp a round of drinks, but when the bill came they did not, had to remind them to take it off the bill. We've gone here many times before but will not again. read more

My women's group went here recently for supper. Some of us arrived late and had to take chairs from empty tables to fit us into the group. The waitress was incredibly rude and told us to put the chairs back, without offering us a solution. Our group organizer spoke to a manager and she moved us downstairs where nobody else was sitting. The same waitress was rude in her responses to us and acted like we were bothering her when we asked for a glass of water or another drink. I have never been treated so badly by a server before. I hope the owners will take note of this review because we were all very upset at the way we were treated. read more

We had a wonderful night at the cabin. our server , Alana, was exemptional! She added to the experience in multiple ways. She knew the menu and specials without reading from a card. Explained the specialty holiday drinks in detail which made us want them! They were delicious. My daughter got a BLT and it was fair, toast overdone and not served with mayo not even on the side. My choice was the problem. I ordered the $16 cabin wedding soup. It was listed in the appetizer column, but surely at $16- same price as the sandwiches it would be substantial. My mistake, the serving was laughable- it barely looked like an 8oz serving, broth with a few meatballs. I should have returned it and asked for the $16 portion. I would have been disappointed if it was $10. The broth was good. We could hear neighboring server apologizing for the wait another trying to calm an irate customer that was charged $4.50 for a coffee refill. Sadly, I have two reservations upcoming. I know that reviews are lukewarm, but people love this venue. There are twinkling white lights all over, and the rooms were warmly decorated for Christmas. I attended lunch with girl friends during December. We had a 12:30 seating, and tho the large restaurant was full, we were seated right away. We had plenty of time to visit before we ordered. The menu included very nice appetizers, pasta, burgers, soups and salads. We all enjoyed our food. I had the baked Brie with fruit--a hardy portion--and bisque de jour was sweet potato. It tasted like pumpkin pie...delicious. The others liked the Calamari, Shrimp Alfredo and the Chicken Piccata. Prices are high for lunch, but this is a better venue, and the food taste and portions, and decor are worth it. There are two parking lots. We have been here a handful of times and the food had always been good. We first came at Christmas time to see the decorations. They are very impressive! Our last visit in December of 2024 was disappointing. Our server let us know ahead of time they were backed up in the kitchen and service was slow. Apparently the chef called off and they had another chef fill in for them. While the food was good and he did an amazing job, our server was prepping food, making drinks, clearing tables and serving us. Hats off to her! Sad that that's how the restaurant industry is now. Our second year here for New Year's Eve dinner but this year was a real disappointment. They ran out of the prime rib at 7:30 but neglected to tell us until 20 minutes after placing orders. Drinks sat empty. Our guest had to send their undercooked food back. My change of order from prime rib, chicken Alfredo was room temperature and the chicken was boiled vs grilled. Just lame. Our server came to the table and told us from the start we were going to have terrible service because the restaurant sets them up for failure. They overbooked the restaurant, took 45 minutes for them to bring us our first order of cocktails, an 1:15 minutes for them to bring us our appetizers, and we finally finished our meal three hours later with the most basic dinner preparation ever! The crazy part is if you go there during the year, not during their Christmas season, this place is awesome! Our reservation was at 5:10. We were seated about 5:15. At 6:00pm, the server came over and told us that we needed to be out of our seats at 7pm because they had another reservation. I thought this was unnecessary. Food: I thought the food was good. It wasn't bad, but nothing that blew me away. However, the pricing was ridiculous. A side salad you can get in any restaurant in America for $5-6 was $14 at The Cabin. Nothing special about the salad. Iceberg lettuce, 3 cucumbers and cheese. I did ask for no tomatoes. The Delmonico for $62 was average at best. It was supposed to be medium and came out medium rare to rare. We waited for that to be cooked, but was cooked correctly the second time. The wine is affordable and not over the top. Overall, I wouldn't go back. There are so many options that have better pricing and better food and service. read more

We waited over 15 minutes to be acknowledged once sat and longer for water, even longer to have our cocktail orders taken, and were there nearly an hour before having drinks let alone food orders taken. The rack of lamb was great- tender even if the ribs were the smallest I've seen for such a dish. Very flavorful as were the potatoes and green beans with a red wine reduction (sweet sauce). We went last night for dinner. Always a treat to see the holiday decorations. The menu has not changes since we there a year ago! Our reservations were at 6 o'clock. I had a glass of chardonay. Then we ordered our dinner, and at around 6:30 I ordered another glass of wine. The waiter explained " they were out of chardonay"!!!!! Seriously??? At 6:30??? Go across the street to Heinens's and get some, or do something! The place was packed and they were out of chardonay!! Poor, poor management! Then they told me they were out of Riesling too! OMG! The food is less than average, so they better make sure the wine is in stock, as why go there?? Good thing they have festive holiday decorations! That is all they have. I think it is very telling that there are so many horrible reviews and not one response from the restaurant management. We had a very similar experience to the other 1 star reviews. We ordered appetizers of shrimp cocktail and Brie. Took an hour and a half to come out! Our waiter was completely dismissive when we questioned the wait. Asked if it was possible our mains would come at the same time as our appetizer. His response was "I don't know, maybe". When I told him that is not acceptable he shrugged his shoulders and walked away. When we hit the hour mark we asked again and he replied that the kitchen was very behind and there was nothing he could do. He went on to inform us that their chef had quit which wasn't his fault. 2 hours in to the evening we got our mains. My husband's pasta was so overcooked it was nearly inedible. My short rib dinner was cold but I didn't dare send it back for fear of another hour wait. We did speak with a manager who seemed to be aware our our server's attitude problem but didn't really do much about the issues. We were there as guests of another couple so will never go back but we luckily live in an area where there are many, many choices for amazing food. If you live in the Aurora area I would suggest going ANYWHERE but here until they get their house in order. Maybe they need to spend less time on gaudy holiday decorations and more time hiring qualified staff. read more

Our waitress did a good job but our food which some of us had appetizers, some soup, salads all came out in disjointed style. Same with our entrees and 2 had to be sent back because they were cold. Several of us had desserts, but none were served at the same time. In fact our bills were being brought when none of us had even been asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. If you are a person that just goes for the venue, by all means go. If you go for the food, please go somewhere more worthwhile for the menu. My appetizer, beverage, entree and dessert for LUNCH was almost 90$ with tip. Had we gone to cheesecake factory for my same appetizer, entree of chicken piccatta, cocktail and dessert that would have been about half cost with leftovers and a lot more flavor and preparation. The lobster bisque was mostly plain cream with a hint of lobster flavor. We ordered our steak medium rare plus and it came rare. The lobster raviolis came to us cold. We have been to Mario's International Cabin Restaurant several times in the past 4 months and, unfortunately, there's no consistency with the food. First time there we ordered the Caesar salad with hot grilled marinated chicken and it was amazing, the next time we tried salmon and it was almost mediocre. Decided to go back for the third time for the excellent Caesar salad, but they must have decided that it was too good so they changed it completely. Now it's served on a dinner plate rather than a bowl, no dressing so it's basically a plate of romaine lettuce with cold generic chicken on top. Had to request additional dressing that I think came out of a bottle of store bought rather than freshly prepared. Sent that mess back and ordered chicken Alfredo, which was much like a Chicken Helper meal from a box. Ordered an appetizer of calamari, which was supposed to be crispy but it was a soggy mess served with mushy grape tomatoes. The only thing that was good were the dinner rolls and wine. Oh and did I mention that the server was not friendly and didn't have time for us. Sad way to spend Valentine's Day with my wife of 33 years. Asked for the check and waitress never came back to collect payment so I had to find someone else who would take payment from me... I don't believe in chew and screw! I went to the reception desk and explained my disappointment with everything and they said they would relay my complaint with the owner.
