We'll say since I come to work in Midway airport more often. I discovered this Puerto Rican restaurant on the route when I take Archer avenue along the way. Despite that I made my own lunch today I decided to splurge and give it a try. I've had Puerto Rican food before but it's usually up in the north side of Chicago and that in the south side especially by Midway airport. Anyways the rellanos de Papa was delicious and the feelings were b however the portion seem to be small that's why I'm glad I ordered too usually some of the Puerto Rican restaurants on north make their rellanos de Papa bigger. There bistec platter with fresh salad and Puerto Rican rice was delicious however their portions were small too. The bistec had a red sauce versus oily fried sauteed sauce with onion taste. They had a different take on it. I drank it with the traditional Malta India beverage like on picture. I finished it up with a cocoa flan. I would come back again it was actually up the par with the Puerto Rican restaurants up north it's just I'm surprised the portions are smaller and they didn't serve water. Thus 4 out of 5 stars. Service was pretty friendly and quick. Ambience had a more modern feel with the Puerto Rican Caribbean Spanish music in the background. This is my first time coming and yeah I would recommend if you are craving for Puerto Rican and you're at Midway airport now that I know where this is at

Great place to spend time with family, the food was delicious, the service was amazing and the prices very reasonable. This was authentic puertorrican food. Thanks

Wow. Just wow. I came here with a group of teachers for lunch. We ordered ahead because we knew we were a big group and didn't want to spend our whole lunch hour waiting. So, when we got to the restaurant, we walked up to the counter and asked for our food. It was ready to go and still warm! We sat down and just marveled at the food in front of us. I ordered the jibarito with two sides.... And guess what.. it wasn't even $20! Ugh such good prices! I had the plantains and another item from the menu that I didn't get to take a picture of. I finished everything and was so stuffed! I posted this on my Instagram and there were so many people asking me for the location! I am definitely coming here again with my friends.

Steak jibarito with white rice.

I saw this place featured on TikTok and decided to give them a try tonight. Outside is a huge Puerto Rican chair which I love and want. The exterior is nice, decent. Inside the decor is contemporary and nice. There was a rather large party there tonight(funeral repast). There seemed to be a good number of tables there. The register is in the back. A lady spoke to me in Spanish and I replied in English and was transferred to someone that spoke English. I ordered a steak jibarito with white rice and a chicken jibarito with yellow rice which the order taker stated had no pork in it....oh well it does buddy. The pinto beans had a lot of olives in them...never had that. The 2 sauces they gave were hot sauce, no flavor at all and the mayo sauce was more like a soup - no gracias. The beef empanada was dry, no flavor at all. The streaming DJ music was very loud. My ears were ringing after I left. I waited about 20 minutes for order. Would I be back? Hmmmm no. I'll continue to patronize my spot in Pilsen.

Food was fresh and very flavorful. Service was excellent along with ambience. I loved that they offered a Jibarita with the sweet plantains. Selected Puerto Rican restaurants offer the sweet plantain, so I was happy to enjoy it. Arroz com habichuela could have been a little better, but everything else was good.

Finally found a place that makes Puerto rican food that brings back nostalgia. Close to home. I don't have to drive up to the west side anymore. Food is always AMAZING!! Service is excellent. Found this place by accident back in Feb. and we continue to make it back here for more. Great place to sit and catch up with friends or family. If you want a place to dine in and you live on the south side. This is the place. Enjoy!

We parked in the neighborhood and walked around a bit and I like how the people really celebrate their culture here, with all of the flags, decorations, huge murals, etc... There is an exodus of the younger generation leaving the island to go elsewhere, mainly the US mainland...So, when you find a place like Papa's, which is very authentic, come back here, again and again...I think the mainly Puerto Rican clientele shows how legit their flavors are. We started off with the following: - chicken salad, which was full Of flavor and very meaty - the steak Jibarito with garlic butter sauce was incredibly great, this was an awesome sandwich and I'll probably order double meat next time - Maduros - very sweet plantains and could be a dessert - pollo chon (chicken lechon), flavored just right, juicy, tasty and pretty huge The service was inviting and thank you Pana, who was talking with us as we were waiting for them to open their doors for lunch.... Hope to make it to Puerto Rico one day!!

While I think they should have been a little more realistic on the time, I also understand it is not an exact science and don't blame them for this wait. I had the lechon platter. The service was decent and friendly, even with the crowds.

Unfortunately, I left really disappointed. I ordered an alcapurria, pescado frito, a pastel, and a jibarito with rice. The alcapurria came out first and was so hard I could barely even cut into it. Since it was lunchtime, I wasn't expecting something that seemed like it had been sitting around, but beyond the texture, it was also really lacking in flavor. I figured maybe it was just an off item or an off morning, so I was still excited when the pescado frito and pastel came out. Unfortunately, those were disappointing too. Everything just lacked the flavor, sazon, and that feeling of food being cooked with love that I'm used to when eating Puerto Rican food. The jibarito was mediocre and didn't have much meat, and the rice was dry with large clumps that weren't even separated. I really wanted to love this location because I've had such good experiences at the Fullerton restaurant, but the quality and flavor just weren't comparable. Based on this visit, I wouldn't come back to the Belmont location. I'l stick with the original on Fullerton.
