The bugs on the napkins and on the table around the vase

There was no wait to sit down and the food was good. There were blue lights in the table flower arrangements that attracted a lot of bugs. that was disgusting.

Tacos de asada y al pastor - The image shows two tacos on a white surface, one with grilled meat, salsa, chopped onions, and cilantro, and the other with al pastor meat topped with chopped onions and cilantro. Lime wedges are placed beside the tacos, and fresh cilantro and onions are used as garnishes. The tacos are served on a piece of parchment paper, highlighting typical Mexican street food presentation.

If you are looking for good Mexican food with a great vibe, this is the place to be. Bring your family and friends to El Tarasco located in Archer Heights. I've been coming here since 2016, every time I get something different and Every time I get blow away by how good the food is. The first time i came here i was wondering the neighborhood walking around looking for a place to eat and found this Mexican restaurant around the corner from the park. I walked in and I was welcome by the friendly staff and they sat me right away. I was amazed by the theme of the restaurant, butterflies everywhere and a beautiful mural of the Island of Janitzio right in the entrance, the walls were really fun to look at and every-time i come back i find something new. My order was simple, I order one large Horchata and 3 Al pastor Tacos with everything and let me tell you, it was astonishing with so much flavor. The Horchata was cold and creamy, it's perfect for my tastebuds. The tacos had lots of meat on them and there were so delicious. The salsas had so much taste, the spiciness of the salsa complimented the sweet of the Al pastor tacos. In overall the experience was phenomenal and the prices were average. This is a place i will recommend. If you are looking for something fast and good this is a place to be

Camarones a la diabla - A large white plate contains shrimp in sauce, accompanied by white rice with vegetables, French fries, and a small salad with sliced avocado, tomato, and onion. The setting appears to be a Mexican restaurant, with additional dishes visible in the background.

I really wanted to like this place, and maybe it's hit or miss and I chose the wrong dish, but I wasn't the most satisfied. The shrimp seemed to be cooked lazily and the sauce was runnier than I'm used to. The only flavor you got was the spice of the salsa. Fries were soggy, but whatever. My husband got a quesadilla, and the good thing is the tortillas are handmade, but this one was SO thick, and didn't look cooked all the way through. That was super disappointing cuz all you can taste is maza. Chips and salsa was good though - nice Smokey taste. Service was ok - she was nice, but not really attentive. We ordered queso fundido and she forgot about it. Would we go back? I honestly don't think so. I don't know if trying a different dish would change my mind/review.

Wow they stepped up there game the food is much better. The salsas are very tasty too. Wow I came and got Barbacoa tacos yum tacos had so much meat and they were delicious. The pozole was not that good but much better and they gave us all of our condiments too. We got complementary calendars they were so nice.

Margartias - The image shows two large margaritas in glass goblets with lime wedges and salt rims, placed on a restaurant table. A basket of tortilla chips and a small bowl of salsa with a spoon are also on the table. The background features a window with blinds, allowing natural light to illuminate the scene, and a wooden wall with some decor.

Excellent jalapeño margaritas, food is good Large portions , staff friendly service quick

Carne Asada Tacos - A white oval plate holds three tacos filled with seasoned ground beef, topped with chopped onions and fresh cilantro. The tacos are served with a side of Mexican rice, which is orange-colored and fluffy, and refried beans topped with shredded cheese. The presentation suggests a traditional Mexican meal, with vibrant colors and fresh ingredients.

Solid option for authentic good Mexican food at a reasonable price. I came here with my family and got the carne adasa tacos and loved them. Everyone else really enjoyed their food orders as well.

Quesadilla - A quesadilla with a golden-brown, slightly crispy surface featuring circular and irregular patterns is placed on a white plate. It is served with shredded lettuce, a slice of tomato, and a dollop of sour cream, suggesting a Mexican-inspired dish. The plate is set on a table, with part of a potted plant visible in the background.

Wow this place is so under rated. I truly am obsessed with the food. It taste home made. The restaurant is also very welcoming and happy. Service is always amazing. The prices are great, you can find breakfast starting at $6, and leave full. The cafe de olla is to die for! Must try it :) They also offer parking in the rear. I love that they have a special menu for lent for us that celebrate.

We started off with chips and salsa, and the salsa was a bit too spicy for me, but everyone else enjoyed it. We started with the Chicken Poblano - a savory dish with creamy poblano sauce mixed with chicken and sliced poblano peppers topped with corn. We all enjoyed it. Most of the reviews recommended the enchiladas and we ordered a variety of them. The Enchiladas Poblanos stuffed with chicken and cheese. The poblano sauce was rich and smoky. We also had the Enchiladas Morita. They were filled with shrimp and cheese. It was so flavorful and the morita chile added so much flavor. Each dish was served with a side jicama salad. Their special was a shrimp pasta with lobster. It came with full lobster tail. The sauce was creamy and flavorful. It is also BYOB, which is a nice option. We arrived around 7:30 on a Friday night and the place was packed. We only had to wait 10-15 minutes, which passed quickly with the live Mariachi music. The food came out pretty quickly considering how busy it was. We got: - Margaritas -- piña mezcal, passion fruit and pepino. They were good but a little small for the price. - Pozole Pipian -- It has a verde base that's very light. Something that makes it unique is chicharrones on top. My daughter prefers pork over the chicken. - Carnitas Huarache -- good flavors but probably my least favorite of the meal. - Asada Torta -- this was my favorite dish of the night. The bread was really light and the meat wasn't tough at all. For dessert we got the churritos and Mexican bread pudding. Both were good but nothing special. All in all a great meal.

I arrived at the restaurant on time (4:30) and checked in with the hostess, who said I could only be seated when the entire group of three arrived. This seemed weird given the restaurant was pretty empty at this time, and ordinarily I'd order a drink while waiting at the table. Regardless, I went to Starbucks instead because I knew the other two were a few minutes behind. When I got back to the restaurant, my friend said the hostess told him we absolutely had to leave within 1.5 hours because we were late... which seemed odd because he may have checked in 15 minutes after our reservation, to an empty restaurant, that already refused to seat me on time. Regardless, the food was delicious. I had the Pollo in ChiChilo-- the mole was delicious, and I loved the chicken and sweet potato. I ordered the mole on the side, which seemed like a nice balance. Since the hostess wouldn't previously seat me, I had a lovely iced matcha latte with oat milk and half a pump of vanilla from Starbucks, which was a nice pairing. The waiter did ask if I wanted a shot of something with it, which seemed odd. Ambiance was cute, probably due for a renovation but seemed appropriate for most dining out occasions- dates, families, a day out in town. Note: the restaurant charges an automatic 20% gratuity which may explain the service. Keep this in mind to avoid tipping more than you intend. Overall, I would definitely come back, and the food and wait staff made up for the abrasive welcome.
