It's a nice neighborhood restaurant friendly staff. Good food for the price. Small place but clean restaurant...

They were closed for a while and have been reopened for a while too. Yelp is saying this is my first check in but I've been here many times. Unfortunately today was my first time since they reopened. I've missed coming here. Had another great experience. The have delicious margaritas. I had 2 mango on the rocks tonight. The vegetables are salsas were delicious, one was super spicy . The steak tacos were spot on. We order them with cilantro and onion. First time I tried an el pastor and it was good, but a little too sweet for my taste. The pork was nice and lean though. I look forward to making this one of my go to Mexican restaurants that has a full bar. read more

I tried the Michuacano Molcajete. The combination of spices and hot peppers ( mild) make it delicious, and not to mention the home made tortillas. read more

Discrimination-Been here twice and was NEVER served. Waited over 30 minutes and and no one ever came to the table. Waiter ended up serving the table that had just arrived and once confronted never apologized. I have no choice but to feel discriminated against due to the fact that it happened twice, I'm black, the table next to me was hispanic and never received apology for slow service. Not happy. read more

I have been to this restaurant since they opened. The food is always so good and you can't beat hand made tortillas! I recently just booked a party in their banquet hall. Carlos was very nice and accommodating to all our needs. I got so many compliments from our guest about how good the food was! Glad to give 5 stars!! read more

Came here with the family & they have a pretty decent shrimp cocktail; 3rd best (my mom's is still #1). Everyone liked their orders & the staff was nice. We will definitely go back read more

Living in the area I frequent this establishment quite often. The service and food are very consistent. We have ordered all types of food here and it's always on point. My boyfriend orders the oysters and they are always cleaned very well. I tend to order the tacos the carnitas and barbacoa are my go to favorites. Their drinks a made good and reasonably priced. read more

Always delicious, very friendly staff, attentive to your needs and amazing food. Love that they hand make corn tortillas and delicious aguas frescas. I've gone with family and friends who have never been disappointed. read more

I have been here a couple times and the food is good, better than some other Mexican restaurants in the area. Hand made tortillas is always a major plus and that is one of the reasons I like to come here. The menu has a variety for everyone. The only negative is that the waiter services needs to be more attentive, as it is hard to get attention of one when you need something and they barely approach you after your meal got served, and if you need to go it takes forever to get your check. Parking is limited so expect to go around the block to find a spot on peak hours. read more

It's reopened and it's as good as it ever was! The molcajeteada especial de la casa is amazing! Grilled steak, chicken and cactus is delicious. The drinks are big and delicious and the staff is quick and helpful. We were worried it'd be different after reopening but it's exactly the same and looks even nicer inside! Best taqueria in the area hands down! read more

The service at this restaurant has rapidly declined. We were seated in a booth and the booth behind me and in front of me were constantly being checked on. I had to wave down one of the staff members and she forgot about me. I dont think I will be returning any time soon read more

Very cute and very close to being a somewhat authentic Mexican restaurant. I would give it four stars at least however the owners should hire more staff. The front of the house should never be left barren since the person also has to work the back of house I. E. Kitchen.... Since the few staff members on board were so busy my order arrived and it was nothing like the actual description. I wasn't going to complain since it would probably take an eternity to rectify the situation. Other than that if your en route to midway airport or just happen to be in the area try the "comida" it's well prepared & the service from the two people that were on staff was nothing less than superb. read more

$3.99 traditional Mexican breakfast. Got me all kinds of excited. Come here often. Also the Cafe de LA Olla, great.

Visited El Tarasco yesterday because it was recommended by friends. However, I was not that impressed with the food or atmosphere. My wife ordered the Carne Asada. The meat itself cooked two different ways. One piece was cooked well. The other piece was under cooked. Either pre-cook their food and warm it up, or something else is going on there. I ordered the breaded steak dinner. The steak was rather thin and just average. The rice and beans were not impressive either. The michilada was okay. A little bit to much clamato. The place was very cold. There was music playing from the restaurant and there was a loud thumping sound from the basement where a party was going on. This made for a very ackward experience. I think the place and food was just average or below. I would not go out of my way to visit this place again. read more

Well...Ive been back 3x now and their Steak Tacos are AWESOME! VERY FLAVORFUL! I think they make their flour tortillas homemade...BUT..I stopped in and ate in on Sunday and their tacos were DEF" storebought...what gives? Their Chicken tacos are VERY GOOD as well as their Chili Rellenos! A decent place to eat in or get some takeout on the way home from work! read more

I love this place, it's my go to when I am craving mexican food, they have the best cataritos! Really recommended

Super good service. The salsa verde is made with creme fresh and delicious s awesome. Solid Mexican cuisine. Full bar. What's not to like. Convenient free parking. Can't wait to go back. If you are looking for a good place to hang out while waiting to pick up someone at midway, I can't think of a better place. read more

I've been here with my family multiple times, nothing super amazing but overall pretty good food and service. What made me want to write this review was my trip with my boyfriend. We ordered a taco dinner de pollo and two tacos de lengua with a torta de lengua. He liked the chicken tacos, and the lengua was pretty good except I found a chunk of plastic in one of the tacos. I let it slide, but then I bit into the torta and got an even bigger chunk of plastic, I'm talking hard, chip your tooth plastic, the size of someone's pinky nail. When I brought it to the attention of our server and showed her the pieces, she told me she believed me because of how it's packaged and offered me an extra taco of the same meat. Would she not have believed me otherwise?? I didn't want the extra taco because I was worried it would have another piece of plastic but she was insistent. I'm not too sure if she told the cooks but I hope she did so this won't happen to someone else. Definitely won't be ordering anything of lengua here or going back any time soon. read more

The breakfast that I got was the chorizo one. The potato's not so much. Hot chocolate was great. The lemonade is just sugar water so don't get it unless you want sugar water. The Torta carne asada was not great. Edible but meh it can greatly be improved. Overall it was okay. read more

good tacos at a good price.... what more do you want me to say wtf yelp. Is this enough?

I have ordered take-out a few times from "El Tarasco" and my order has always been correct. The food has always been delicious and better than home-made. Check Elizabeth P.'s profile and you will see she is a very negative person. I find it completely unfair and wrong to rate this restaurant one star because she is only getting takeout. Elizabeth should try sitting down to eat for a change and then maybe she will get the customer service that she rarely encounters (per her other reviews). The food has always tasted perfectly cooked and fresh. Complimentary tortilla chips with red and green sauce are a great start to your meal. The "carne asada" and the "steak fajitas" are my favorite but I have tried many other items from their menu and I have never been disappointed. Hand made corn tortilla's are a great treat with your meal. This is also a good place to bring your kids if they are picky eaters because of some of the good kids choices on the menu. The beer is less expensive than many other restaurants and the price difference from domestic to imported beer is also less than other places. I will always recommend "El Tarasco" for great Mexican food! read more

AWESOME FOOD!!! Very spacious too. Quick service. We love it! Never waited long to sit. Reasonably priced

This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant right now! The food is great, service is good, the restaurant is super clean snd the drinks are awesome! read more

Agree 100% with Elizabeth they will mess up your carry out order 85% of the time. I have mixed reviews about the food. They seem to make decent good fast food. Tacos, burritos, tortas and sopes. Everything else is crappy and not well served. I have tried breakfast and I ended up barfing my chilakiles. I tried Menudo/Pozole both were lacking effort. I have always said that when a restaurant has a big menu they are not good at making anything. This menu is ridiculous I was surprised I didn't find pizza and sushi on this menu. We have ordered other dishes and they lack major effort. I ordered a caldo de mariscos and it was so poorly made a seasoned and the seafood was lacking freshness. I was so mad but I keep ordering for delivery. Yes they deliver and their fats food is not great but it's good. When you want something delivered the list is short. Pizza Chinese Sushi (If your lucky) Being able to add decent Mexican food is a great advantage. I would not waste my time eating in this place. If you are out there is at least 50 other places in the area making way better food. If your drunk, tired, lazy or high.... This place can be god sent when the food gets delivered to your doorsteps. read more

There pork al pastor is really good I also really like there beef cecina. If you go there I highly recommend one of those.

It has been a couple of years the last time I ate here. Only reason why I went was due to lunch after a funeral. Was not impressed with the rice or the beans. Chicken Fajitas were ok, yet the guisado was good. Tortillas were cooked in the microwave or at least they seemed like they were. I don't think I would go back. read more

This place has some amazing tacos and huaraches! Price also not bad. I like to get the taco with chicarron and top it off with sweet horchata! Will definitely come back here in for more. read more

Good service; attentive without being intrusive. They serve very light and flavorful chips and fresh tasty salsas. Surprised that they serve Huitlacoche and Flor de Calabaza quesadillas! Tortillas are made in the premises, big and flavorful. My wife had Camarones al Mojo de ajo, and I had steak in chipotle sauce. Portions are very big, so big we had to take part of them back home. Ours was a very enjoyable experience; this is about the third time we go to el Tarasco and I'm sure it will not be the last one. "Tarasco" is a reference to the native people of Michoacán. Will they sometime offer Corundas or Uchepos in their menu? That would be a very pleasant surprise. My only complaint is that the Huitlacoche was a little on the salty side, Although still enjoyable. Also a couple of flies were buzzing around most of the time we were there. Keep the good work up! read more

So it was my sister birthday celebration the plan was seafood, the restaurant we wanted was a 1hr and a half wait that I didn't mind but the birthday girl was hungry. We decided to visit el tarascó because about a month a ago I order some chillaquiles and they were so good, so I was let's do it why not. They had three waitresses working and they look like they were upset, we got there and the took our drink order and then she went to the bar and started taking care of other customers like for 20 minutes. I called this other waitress and she told me that's the way we work here you will get your drink late but you will get them! I was wait did she just say that to me? My sister and my wife was just relax and give them a chance, only like 8 tables with people. So we order and our molcagete was cold the nopales, grilled onions and peppers were not well done. The extra shrimp that we order were so rubbery that it looked like they were cooked in the microwave. They brought us and order of 6 tortillas for the molcagete and my brother in laws tampiqueña. No manager on sight, customer service is everything. read more

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times, and I do have to say that every single breakfast I've had has been delicious and their cafè de Olla is amazing. Their waitresses aren't the most welcoming nor the most attentive. For the most part the restaurant has been clean , except for their washrooms. read more
