    A great neighborhood, no frills sit-down or takeout joint. Carne asada and house-mde chips always great, other food is good in general, but skip the chewy fried ice cream and dry chocolate cake. Service is friendly and prompt.

    A relative recommended this restaurant, and we were glad they did! Great service ordering/picking up food. Considerate portions of skirt steak in all tacos. The salsa was not spicy at all, so if that's your thing, then it won't disappoint. We will return again.

    I came here with my boyfriend and my parents on Saturday evening around 6 pm. It was our first time at this neighborhood joint and we were greeted by our friendly server Blanca. This place is a family owned establishment and their pride shines through. There were two other tables when we walked in. The dining area itself is not "fancy" at all, it is comparable to what other BP Mexican joints look like (think Taqueria San Jose, etc). I was surprised at how large this place was, though, on the inside. Plenty of seating. When we sat down, we were immediately brought two baskets of housemade chips for 4 people, on the house, with housemade red salsa and salsa verde. I like the chips, they seem less greasy than other places, and the two salsas are tasty with a small kick - my favorite was the red! We ordered 2 large horchata drinks and they were very tasty. Soup came on the house- a vegetable and noodle soup in small bowls, pretty tasty but I tasted some dishwasher residue in my bowl??? When we ordered, they asked us how we liked our meats to be cooked- I told them medium anticipating many places to overcook the meat, but theirs came out perfectly. Plus, steak is supposed to be eaten charred in Mexico (well done), so I wanted to gauge how they would actually cook it when I told them medium instead. Every plate came with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, and tortillas. We ordered the: $16.75 carne a la tampequena (skirt steak topped with cheese, avocado on the side This dish was tasty, but the portion of steak was significantly smaller than the carne asada- hence the slight price difference? My bf ate this one and said the carne asada was the best meat he had ever had. $13.75 bistec ranchero (rolled steak in ranchero sauce) My mom had this dish, and it was a MASSIVE piece of pounded steak in a tomato and onion based savory sauce. The cut of beef used is not as tender like the skirt steak, but it was still extremely flavorful and tender due to the pounding. The ranchero sauce was so good- I stole a couple spoonfuls of it alone! $18.75 Carne asada Oh man. GET THIS when you come, and don't look back. Two giant pieces of delicious steak, marinated in the secret combination of citrus juice and spices. The flavor profile on this is delightful. My dad smashed this dish. $16.75 Combo Skirt Steak and Chile Relleno (stuffed bell pepper with cheese) I got this dish, and honestly, it was the most disappointing dish. The skirt steak piece was not very large, but the Chile relleno was massive- probably a more cost effective move on the restaurant's part. The Chile relleno did have a lot of cheese in it, though. The skirt steak was tasty like the other few dishes. For dessert, we split an order of fried ice cream and an order of flan. The flan here has a cheesecake instead of eggy consistency, which I enjoyed-- however, it was definitely not your typical flan. we also got the fried ice cream which came in a beautiful massive plate- it was rolled in corn flakes and adorned with whipped cream and strawberry syrup. Our total came to $100 including tax and tip for 4 entrees, 2 large horchata, and 2 desserts. This restaurant is pricier than many other comparable BP establishments, but you really do pay for the quality of the food. We will be back again for the fried ice cream and CARNE ASADA.

    I don't frequent here often. However, when I do the staff is always amazingly hospitable. I appreciate the warm atmosphere, the attentive service, and the great food.

    Sorry, but don't think I would return. Service was nice and friendly, but the food wasn't that great. They give you chips and salsa and a little bowl of soup. I had the chicken tostados and thought the chicken was a bit dry and not much flavor. The salsa didn't really add much to help it. They are a smidge more expensive than some places. I don't mind paying if it was good, but it just wasn't.

    This place is awesome! A coworker and I came on a recommendation from a colleague, without knowing anything about the place. Man did we hit the jackpot. Every single thing we had was well done - in the homestyle way they would be good if you went to an aunt or grandma's house. Chips and two salsas (and more than plenty of each), fideo soup, carne tampiqueña, an enchilada, rice and beans... Even the tortillas were hot and fresh and awesome. Nothing unusual, but everything perfectly done. Cute place, nice people. We'll be back!

It was drowning in dressing and the combination of anchovies and tuna did not work. It was also quite obvious that the tuna was not seared properly. I did think the roast chicken was good, and the fries were by far the best part of the meal. We went to several fine restaurants over the past few days to celebrate a milestone birthday, and La Grande Boucherie was the absolute worst in terms of value and quality of food. They were also the only establishment that didn't give the celebrant a small desert with a candle to mark the occasion. Just disappointing all around.

The staff are welcoming and accommodating. Our waiter, Kaya, was knowledgable of the menu and made great wine suggestions. My husband had the 10 oz flat iron steak and I had the jumbo sea scallops, with sides of creamed spinach and white cheddar gratin. Everything was beautifully plated and delicious!! Ambiance and decor is top notch! This is SUCH a pretty spot! Very IG-worthy, with different details and moods on different walls. The bar was especially stunning. Service was impeccable. From the minute we walked in, the host and manager were friendly and personable. Our server was the right amount of conversational to make it feel personal but not overwhelmingly so. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu and had great recs. When I asked about "Sophia style" he had great descriptions and recommended it as his personal go-to. The bus staff was also incredibly attentive and wiped down the table between courses (a detail of fine dining that I think makes a huge difference!) Now the FOOD! Wow the truffle fries were some of the best fries I've ever had in my life. Weird item to lock in on, I know, but a good fry tells you everything else will be amazing too. It was crispy on the outside and the perfect pillowy texture on the inside. The steaks and bacon were incredible. It was cooked exactly as I like (I like mine medium well and run into a lot of places undercooking it. I know, it's unpopular but I am also paying for what I want. So I appreciate the perfection from Sophia on this one!) and I really enjoyed it Sophia Style. I love that all steaks already come with the house steak sauce and steak salt at bare minimum. The chocolate cake was AMAZING. it's gigantic, they literally served it with a steak knife lol. It's hazelnut and chocolate so it has a very rich deep flavor. They brought it out with a candle for my birthday which was a nice touch! Sophia Steak made my birthday dinner feel very special and we cannot recommend it enough for your special occasion!
