Wow. Just wow. I came here with a group of teachers for lunch. We ordered ahead because we knew we were a big group and didn't want to spend our whole lunch hour waiting. So, when we got to the restaurant, we walked up to the counter and asked for our food. It was ready to go and still warm! We sat down and just marveled at the food in front of us. I ordered the jibarito with two sides.... And guess what.. it wasn't even $20! Ugh such good prices! I had the plantains and another item from the menu that I didn't get to take a picture of. I finished everything and was so stuffed! I posted this on my Instagram and there were so many people asking me for the location! I am definitely coming here again with my friends.

I saw this place featured on TikTok and decided to give them a try tonight. Outside is a huge Puerto Rican chair which I love and want. The exterior is nice, decent. Inside the decor is contemporary and nice. There was a rather large party there tonight(funeral repast). There seemed to be a good number of tables there. The register is in the back. A lady spoke to me in Spanish and I replied in English and was transferred to someone that spoke English. I ordered a steak jibarito with white rice and a chicken jibarito with yellow rice which the order taker stated had no pork in it....oh well it does buddy. The pinto beans had a lot of olives in them...never had that. The 2 sauces they gave were hot sauce, no flavor at all and the mayo sauce was more like a soup - no gracias. The beef empanada was dry, no flavor at all. The streaming DJ music was very loud. My ears were ringing after I left. I waited about 20 minutes for order. Would I be back? Hmmmm no. I'll continue to patronize my spot in Pilsen.

Food was fresh and very flavorful. Service was excellent along with ambience. I loved that they offered a Jibarita with the sweet plantains. Selected Puerto Rican restaurants offer the sweet plantain, so I was happy to enjoy it. Arroz com habichuela could have been a little better, but everything else was good.

Food sooo good gone need to order me some frozen pastele to take back home with me. The rice was good too. Perfectly done and not oily at all. But the pasteles was ON POINT!! Love it!! If your around this neck of the woods, this is a must try for good Puerto Rican food!

Food is delicious 10/10 but service is not so great. Server takes order never comes back and check on you even if we have drinks doesn't offer more. When asked to give napkins they only give you ONE per person. Going forward will only get take out from this place because the food is too good

Finally found a place that makes Puerto rican food that brings back nostalgia. Close to home. I don't have to drive up to the west side anymore. Food is always AMAZING!! Service is excellent. Found this place by accident back in Feb. and we continue to make it back here for more. Great place to sit and catch up with friends or family. If you want a place to dine in and you live on the south side. This is the place. Enjoy!

Place is wide open space with a bar and various mixed drinks and beers we were told to sit wherever we wanted and she met us with menus or you could use their website which we chose because the menu was in Puerto Rican with no descriptions so we had to use their website We chose the tostones appetizer which I've had many times before and these were much better than any other places and I loved the garlic sauce oil on top Next we tried the shrimp mofongo it was really delicious and had a lot of flavor also ordered the steak jibraito which was outstanding and so delicious definitely my favorite one of all times Service was good as any other place we finished and have to pay up at the register I noticed something behind her and asked what it was she explained but never heard or had it before and she gave us a few pieces of plantains wrapped in pork since she was closing and was just going to toss them anyway had them the next day because we were way stuffed and they were delicious definitely coming back to Rosas for our Puerto Rican fix

Hey fellow Yelpers! I've been to Jibaritos y Mas Southside in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood in…read moreChicago many times and this place never disappoints. I used to go to Jibaritos on Harlem in the Portage Park/Dunning neighborhood because I used to live in the northwest side, but now I live in the southside. I'm completely obsessed with jibaritos and the chicken one is the best one in my opinion. Customer Service: Every time I order whether that is a pick up order that I place through the phone or dinning in, the staff members are all very welcoming and polite. I feel like the same guy takes my order every time I order on the phone for pick up or in-person and he's the best. Kudos to you! You're doing an amazing job & keep doing what you're doing! Food/Drinks: They have a lot delicious options from food to drinks. My go-to order is a chicken jibarito, 3-4 sorullos (Puerto Rican corn fritters), and a large ice cold parcha (passion fruit) drink. It's the best!!! I'm craving it right now as I write this Yelp review lol. Overall Experience: Overall, I aways have a great experience eating at Jibaritos y Mas whether that is eating in my car or eating inside the restaurant. They prepare the food within a decent time and always comes out deliicous. I highly recommend this place that those that want to try Puerto Rican food or Puerto Rican food lovers. I hope this review helps Jibaritos y Mas & its current and future customers.

    Pilsen

Let me tell you. THIS WAS THE BEST THING I ATE when I was in Chicago…read more I knew I had to visit Pilsen while visiting Chicago for the first time. Coming from the West Coast, we mainly have Mexican, Guatemalan, or El Salvadorean food. Muy rico, tried and true. But Puerto Rican is more rare. So when I saw those bright and beautiful PR flags out by the front entrance, and an almost full-house at 2pm in the afternoon, I knew I had to check Jibarito Shop out. I knew I had to get a jibarito because of the namesake. I love that there's a half and a full sandwich option. I was here solo, so I happily ordered the half option...but could've easily given into eating a full order. A jibarito is scrumptious, fried plantains as the "buns" or "bread" with the meat of your choice, and side of flavorful yellow rice and beans. I went with bistec. You're handed a number and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. The first bite blew my friggin' mind. Flavor, fat, and WOW. As someone who loves all fries, having that crunch and oil from the crispy plantains was gluttonous. Rice was so good, I was licking the paper bowl. Atmosphere feels homey and open, and there's lots of table options but they fill up quick because of how popular they are. Good for families but smaller groups. Restrooms are clean and single-stall. Service is so friendly and efficient. Shoutout to the magic hands who blessed us with delicious meals. I am still dreaming of what I ate at Jibarito Shop. Please come to California!

Ever heard of a jibarito, much less had one? I had never heard of them and was unfamiliar with…read morePuerto Rican food until the Chicago Redditors suggested tourists try it out. Boy, did the hype not disappoint at The Jibarito Stop. LOGISTICS As a tourist staying downtown near Millennium Park, this was easy to get to via the Pink Loop CTA line. The shop is super close to the stop and they have a good amount of seating indoors, though larger groups may struggle with getting seats together. You order at the front, but they will bring your food to the table. Drinking water is available for free. FOOD True to its name... they have Jibaritos here, which are Puerto Rican sandwiches where fried plantain are used instead of bread with a protein choice. The name also seems specific to Chicago as they are not part of typical Puerto Rican cuisine, but nonetheless they are DELICIOUS. All Jibarito options come with the choice of rice (red beans and rice or yellow rice). They also come in a "full" and "half size"... if I'm being honest the "full size" is really just two separate "half size" sandwiches. A half sandwich is plenty with a lot of protein. If you can share with someone else and order a "full" jibarito, it should still come as 2 separate sandwiches and then you have room to try another time in the menu. Steak Jibarito (Full Portion) w/ Yellow Rice: This was my favorite thing I ate during my Chicago visit, it was a good balance of sweet and savory. The steak is thinly sliced, not too chewy, and goes well with the creamy garlic sauce they put on it. The greens also made it refreshing. The plantains are also thin with a little crisp and chew and add a little bit of sweetness. However you need to really grab onto the sandwich with both hands to ensure it doesn't fall apart. Yellow rice was also really good with some beans in it for extra protein. I think it's cooked with a broth since it was flavorful on its own. Fritter Sampler: This was a great mix of fried goodies to taste. First the dough on the empanadas was light and crisp in texture. Fillings were generous on all of them - very flavorful with a variety of spices. My favorite was the shrimp one that had a bit of kick, and I think it was filled with either pumpkin/squash or a potato? Although it came with one of each, every fritter was really big and easily shareable between 2 people. I struggled to finish my half, especially with that large potato ball filled ground beef. Fritters also came with 2 sauces... an orange-ish spicy sauce and cilanto cirtus salsa that was delicious. Be sure to pour them onto the fritters as you eat them! OVERALL Great food for the price and portions! My partner and I were stuffed between the fritter sampler and full size portion of Jibarito. I am really happy I ventured out of the main downtown area to check this place out. As a tourist and first timer when it came to Puerto Rican food... this place was amazing! Jibaritos have become my new food obsession and I will be planning on coming back for more next time I'm in Chicago. Skip the hot dogs and pizzas, do not sleep on Puerto Rican food and The Jibarito Stop delivers on flavor!
