Everything went well came from Capital city of Michigan to try their chuleta can can and I'm telling you it was .com , I tried hubby jibarito forget about it anyone that gives this place less than 5 stars Is telling stories.. this was first place ( other than my kitchen ) were the flavor was on point , our server did awesome ( forgot his name ) but he was awesome. Very clean ( even with heavy traffic) bathroom clean ... loved it ..
I had a great experience eating here while visiting Chicago. It is a very small place but thankfully there were open tables on a Monday evening. The wait staff were attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious- I had the bistec encebollado. The tostones were so magically garlicky that I'm still dreaming about them. It was great. I wish they had more variety on their menu but I understand it's a smaller restaurant.
Cozy mom and pop type restaurant that was busy during dinner rush. Even though it was crowded and the wait time was a little longer than expected, the food was well worth it! My first time trying jibarito and I'll definitely be returning.
I'll start by saying this was a spur of the moment meal well after the 2026 Puerto Rican parade on Saturday June 13th had ended. A friend and I decided to hit the Humboldt Park area (Western/Division) and take in some Borinqueña atmosphere and sights. After walking up and down Division Street awhile we stumbled upon Papa's Cache Sabroso. The place was jumping! The weather was amazingly gorgeous and outdoor seating was packed. There was a line for seating and takeout. The friendly host was doing an amazing job of keeping it all organized. We chose takeout and ordered a steak Jibarito con arroz y gandules and a side order of plátano maduro all totaling $22.27. As another reviewer noted it is a tad pricey but not overly so. It took about 20+ minutes to get the food...but like their sign states, something on the order of, "this is not a fast food place and good food takes time, please be patient". The Jibarito tasted good overall like other Jibaritos I've had in the past, however my friend commented that although the steak was flavorful, it was a tad chewy and I would slightly agree. The mayo, tomato and garlic kind of brings it all together for me, but I would've liked way more garlic...and there was even a small container of garlic "sauce", but it was very light on the mashed garlic paste. Whenever I dipped my plátano maduro, I couldn't get any pieces of garlic on until most of the olive oil was gone. The rice was standard and flavorful and I really did enjoy the plátano maduro. I would probably return to try the garlic chicken.
I placed an order three Steak Jibaritos online. The pickup process was pretty easy, just had to wait in line while other people ordered their food in front of me. The Jibaritos themselves were good. A little overpriced but still a decent menu. My only issue with them was the lack of garlic on top. I ordered two out of three with arroz con gandules for $2.50 more. The rice was pretty good definitely not the best I've had. Not exactly sure if I'd return anytime soon. $16.50 for Jibarito with rice is a tad bit much. I got my usually spot that tastes a lot better for a lot cheaper as well. Won't rule this place out, but I have my spot already.

More customers came in after an hour or two and by the time we left the restaurant was packed. Very cozy, nice local Puerto Rican restaurant. Have been craving to come back after since I left.
There is metered street parking in front of the restaurant. You walk up to a large outside patio and there is a smaller inside eating area. It is a little dark on the interior but the warmth from the service, the amazing food and cheer of other patrons makes up for it. The owner was lovely and the service was excellent. I enjoyed every bit. The portion size is large so you definitely won't leave hungry. I got the rotisserie chicken with white rice and beans and yuca. The garlic sauces was yummy and the spicy sauce had just enough kick. I was just sad I couldn't finish all my food. Definitely worth dropping in and checking out.

Casual Puertorican cuisine in a neighborhood vibe. Thier specialty is the rotisserie chicken for its Great flavor and spice. If you happen to be in Humboldt park you must stop by. Try thier hibaritos, the rotisserie chicken is a must.
We did a catering order from Papa Cache for lunch and we all loved it. The chicken was so flavorful and the rice was bomb! Everything came so fresh. Would definitely go back and try at the restaurant. From what we tried, we would highly recommend!

The service is excellent with Johnny knowing the menu the neighborhood regulars and knows how to treat newcomers and walk them through the menu. I usually go family style with a friend for a whole chicken, arroz y gandules, and Yuca En Escabeche , yucca with onions, simple but insanely delicious. Now their chicken is off the hook. No one had chicken like this. Lightly spiced broasted to perfection. There's plenty of other menu options to choose from. Their Lechon Asado on Saturdays only is some of the best around. There's also plenty of outside seating so try Papa's out to get a true taste for Humboldt Park.

I would say that this place is a tasty secret to a lot of people who never make it over herre to Division or Puerto Rico... We parked in the neighborhood and walked around a bit and I like how the people really celebrate their culture here, with all of the flags, decorations, huge murals, etc... There is an exodus of the younger generation leaving the island to go elsewhere, mainly the US mainland...So, when you find a place like Papa's, which is very authentic, come back here, again and again...I think the mainly Puerto Rican clientele shows how legit their flavors are. We started off with the following: - chicken salad, which was full Of flavor and very meaty - the steak Jibarito with garlic butter sauce was incredibly great, this was an awesome sandwich and I'll probably order double meat next time - Maduros - very sweet plantains and could be a dessert - pollo chon (chicken lechon), flavored just right, juicy, tasty and pretty huge The service was inviting and thank you Pana, who was talking with us as we were waiting for them to open their doors for lunch.... We came here on a festival day and the place was packed. We had 6 people and were told 20 minutes but it was an hour. While I think they should have been a little more realistic on the time, I also understand it is not an exact science and don't blame them for this wait. I had the lechon platter. The dark meat portion was fabulous but the light meat portion was dry. Both the sweet plantains and salty chip versions were yummy. The rest of my family enjoyed their sandwiches and platters. The service was decent and friendly, even with the crowds. read more

I picked up dinner after 8 pm on a Monday evening. i wanted to try Chicago special Jibarito, and this was the only place I could find open after 8. I went with a steak jibarito. It was excellent. Fried plantains on the side was good as well. read more

We ordered: Jibarto con Arroz - steak between fried garlicky plantains Papa's Pollo Food was all delicious. Both the rotisserie chicken and steak was well seasoned and tender. Jibarto sandwich was a great combo of fresh and savory flavors and textures. Rice texture and flavor is a tasty side. Employee was very enthusiastic and nice. Good service. I like the family vibe including the people photos on the tables. I'm going to recommend this to my Puerto Rican friends. read more
Overall Thoughts: Delicious, garlicky jibaritos; exceptional service and inviting staff (Papa himself gave us a warm welcome too)! Indoor seating is limited, but they have a toasty, heated outdoor space for cold winter days. Prices are reasonable too. Food I tried: - Ribeye Steak Jibarito: The steak was super juicy and flavorful, and the plantain was quite densely flattened. Adding their garlic sauce on top added a nice kick. Today the wifey & I treated my nephew & his wife to Papa's Cache!! When I tell you this is the best rotisserie chicken in the city, you better listen!! I had the 1/2 chicken w/ arroz con gandules. Some yuca (i have to have it) and some tostones. The yuca was 8/10 The tostones was pretty good 6.8/10 The star was that rotisserie bird! So flavorful, juicy & tender. You can taste the garlic in that bird and it pairs well with the rice. Great meal and the service was EXCELLENT!! Definitely a must try! Visit Humboldt Park and go have some of the best rotisserie chicken you'll ever have. Or check out one of their other dishes. Solid 8.8/10 read more

While vacationing in Chicago, I was told by my local friend that there's a "restaurant that I have to try"! We go the first day: They're closed. But we weren't discouraged: We went back two days later. And though they were closing early, they allowed us to order and dine in. So happy that they did! Authentic food. Savory flavors. Friendly staff. Joyful customers. The steak sandwich was delicious and tender. The rice and beans side was plentiful. The food was so good, we took a whole chicken meal home with us...and ended up eating it all that night! The hack: Add their homemade green chili sauce to your rice for a kick of heat! (You'll thank me later!) Next time I'm in town, I'll add this to my "must visit" list. read more
