Very bland, unseasoned and bad rotisserie chicken. Not good at all. The mashed potatoes were horrible, with no gravy and large chunks of raw potato. The tortilla were overly heated and and subsequently stuck to each other, rendering them useless due to all the holes. The only item that was tasty was the pasta. Man I have been a customer for over 15 years and the past year this restaurant has really depleted . Having a new owner really messed with things , making cheap cuts to lower costs isn't the way to go buddy boy. Families are together, friends, everyone was speaking Spanish. Seeing as the place is a "Latin American" restaurant, I knew I was going to be in good hands. I ordered a gluttonous half chicken for myself, which comes with two sides but I ordered an additional side. The black beans and rice are great when mixed together. Their food was consistently delicious and everything was made to order. I ordered their Chicken, with green sauce and fries on the side. I also got their popular drink. Affordable and reasonable prices of food. Everything was on point. You can literally save a lot of money here even if you want to bring your friends and family. Their service was phenomenal! All of their waiters and waitresses are attentive and accommodating. They are nice and know how to talk properly to their customers. Professional and friendly service. wow this place is amazing...no lie. The place itself is cute with booths and storefront window seating. The menu is small but I have a strong desire to try everything on it. I had the quarter chicken (delicious) with fried yukka (didn't know what to expect...they are amazing! like french fries but way better) and plaintains (i think I'll try the sweet ones next time). Thanks for the recommendations from the other reviewers. Quite friendly people who work there. The woman I ordered from is bilingual so no stress there (i have really got to learn spanish if i'm going to live in this neighborhood). That should not dissuade you, for the skin is wonderfully crispy, and the meat (even the breast) is very juicy. Additionally, you'll have plenty of sides to choose from; I went with fried plantains and mashed potatoes. The plantains were crispy, and the potatoes were of the smooth whipped variety. Everything was delicious. Two pieces with two sides is a steal at $7, but in the future I'll order more pieces just to ensure that I'm getting enough protein. Indeed, I'm looking forward to ordering a whole chicken, which is under $20. How possible, amirite? The inside is pleasant; no frills, and free of irony. Allow me to add to the chorus of praise for Mr. Pollo! I bike by here every day on my way to and from work and the opportunity has never presented itself to actually stop in. Finally after a miserable day with the CTA, I was able to persuade my wife to let us grab takeout from Mr. Pollo on our way home. It was delicious! The skin's not crispy but you still want to eat it because of the flavor, and the chicken itself is deliciously juicy, even the white meat--the dark meat was just this side (the good side) of greasy. For sides, we got the non-sweet plantains, fried yuca and the black beans. All were tasty, especially when paired with the awesome salsas--the rojo, which was kind of like a saltier, hotter gazpacho, and the verde, which is akin to a chimichurri sauce. The prices may strike one as high, but the side dish portions are quite generous. You can definitely get a few meals out of a whole chicken. Pair with a dry rose! :) read more
