Amazing Puerto Rican food. I cannot wait to go back. I ordered the skirt steak with rice and beans and chimichurri. It came with plantain. It was so delicious. Very savory and juicy. The beans and rice complimented the skirt steak so well. The chimichurri added this amazing fresh tanginess to every bite. I didn't need to add any extra sauce or anything to my meal. My boyfriend ordered a steak jarbarrito with no cheese. They got the order wrong and had cheese on it, they took it back and pulled the cheese off of it. They did not remake it unfortunately. Making the best out of it he still enjoyed his jarbarito. His only qualm was that the plantain buns were not even on both sides. The ratio of meat to bun is extensive. But It looked and smelled so good! We also ordered passionfruit juice, I don't suggest to order that because it's the blue can juice from the market. It is not natural passionfruit juice. Our waiter was not the best. They do have a lady server in there. We wish we had her because she was very tentative and did end up helping our server out. Ambience was very clean. It comes with puerto rican rice - it was phenomenal! All of the food was fantastic! I could not find an entire menu or website online however, but we ordered through DoorDash and it contained some photos of some of the entrees too. This helped. This was my first time trying jiberitos and I am obsessed. We found this place through reddit recommendations when we were planning our Chicago trip itinerary and I am so glad we went here. The place is fairly easy to get to with public transportation. There is a separate location for take out and dine in orders but they are located very close to one another so it shouldn't be a problem navigating. We got seated pretty quickly and the staff were super nice. They gave us some bread and butter while we waited for our food. We got the bistek (steak) jiberito and it was delicious. The fried plantains were so good and the garlic smothered on top of it added a nice punch. The meat inside was soft was juicy. The lettuce and onions in the sandwich really tied it all together. I think I need a separate paragraph for the sauce that came with the jiberito. It was spicy in all the right ways and we were obsessed with it. For dessert, we got their Guava Quesitos. They were good but a little too sweet for my preference. I contemplated moving to Chicago just to eat here more often. read more

I've never had a jibaritos before. Never even heard of it. But I was introduced to this place by a friend and I. AM. HOOKED. I'll be back and I plan to bring friends here too. Apparently, according to help, Jibaritos are sandwiches originating from Chicago's puerto rico community. We ordered a jibaritos (pulpo y camarones - octopus and shrimp). The bread is a deep fried plantain, which at first didn't sound that appetizing to me, but it was perfect. Inside is mayo, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and lots of garlic. The garlic was very strong in this, which I loved. But beware (or maybe ask for less if you're not a garlic fan). The octopus was good, but it wasn't really necessary for me. But the shrimp was really good (way beyond what I expected it to be). Fresh, great texture, really tasty. I'm definitely going to be coming back to get another shrimp jibaritos next time (and try more). The sandwiches are HUGE by the way. It's been a long time since I've been to this location I used to go here in the 1990s it used to look like a hole in the wall now it looks more modern not necessarily bougie. Anyways I had a craving for bistek with arroz con grandules. I've been going to the one by Harlem and Belmont and I went yesterday but I was disappointed because despite that they close at 8:00 p.m. they couldn't have service at 7:30 to dining in I guess I was too late. Well today I went to this location cuz it was closer to after I left work and had a craving for bistek. It seems that the portions here are larger than the one in Harlem and Belmont. Ambience was more modern now and doesn't look like a hole in the wall service was decently friendly. My only thing despite that I like potato balls or rellenos de Papa. I was a little disappointed because it looked like it was too deep fried. It was black like it was burnt. Came here with a friend from out of town and wanted something different. This place was busy but we got seated almost immediately. They moved around some chairs and tables for us. We sat right near the door next to two other pairs of people, which felt cramped but I was glad we got seated right away. Our server didn't speak much English, but luckily I know Spanish which helped! I got the steak sandwich. I asked for no mayo, but there was still mayo on it. Wanted to try a jibarito while I'm here in Chicago and wow I'm very impressed! This surpassed my expectations. The plantains were cooked so well, had a nice crisp and flavor. I was very excited to try Puerto Rican food for the first time. My boyfriend and I came for a late lunch and there was plenty of seating. The staff here is extremely friendly and welcoming! I ordered the Cubano Jibarito's and my boyfriend got the Lechón Jibarito's. You definitely get your bang for your buck as the portion sizes are big. If you didn't know a jibarito is a sandwich, but with fried plantains instead of bread. They were both really good and you can't go wrong with either. It just depends on what type of meat you want. For the love of the almighty jibarito, I can't believe it took me so long to discover this jibarito wonderland. I also can't believe it took me so long to write this review, seeing as I visited Jibaritos y Mas late last summer. For years, I was a Papas Cache y Sabroso devotee and still love it. I later discovered Jibarito Stop in Pilsen, which I adore. And then, this place popped up on my jibarito search on a Sunday, when my other two places were closed. My daughter and I decided to hit up this place on an early Sunday evening to grab to-go dinners, but quickly found out there was a sit-down restaurant next door. Although the place was jam-packed and jumpin with a lot of families having Sunday dinner, we were quickly seated at the first available table. The runners immediately delivered water and table settings and shortly thereafter, our friendly server came over and took our orders. Typically I would get a jibarito, but this day I went with the Mofongo while my daughter ordered the steak jibarito and we both had the refreshing parchas (passionfruit punch). Our food was delivered promptly and we dug in. Yes, yes and more yes. Everything was so delicious and perfectly seasoned and the portions were healthy. We had food to take home and enjoy later. The best part of family-style restaurants is the amazing food, the large portions, affordable price tags and amazing service. These type of restaurants value their customers and go out of their way to provide great customer service. Who wouldn't want to return? This is how they stay in business for so long. I have never dined in, but pickup does take a while, as it is always very crowded, for good reason. There is a dine-in section and another entrance for pick-up orders. My life has been changed ever since I tried the rellenos. Please never stop making them. The jibarito was one of the best ones I've had in the city. I'm actually not a big plantains fan but was recently converted by having the jibarito from here. Its sturdy but soft and it manages to hold its shape without hurting the roof of your mouth. I personally think that you benefit from keeping the mayo and lettuce in this type of sandwich as it gives it a nice creaminess (without being soggy). American cheese slices work surprisingly well here. They're also not skimpy on the onion and I love the added dollop of garlic paste on top of the plantain. 5/5 read more

Absolutely amazing! I ordered the bistec jibarito, the portion is huge, the meat is tender, but the most amazing part is the plantain with the garlic on top. The flavour is so distinct, and I can still feel it couple hours later. I can't say how much I enjoyed the food. One side of shop is for take out and the other side is for dine in. Take out opens early, and usually online information shows the opening time of the take out, not the dining area. So if you want to sit down, make sure to come closer to noon time to avoid disappointment. There are many local people come to purchase food, they are busy but the service is very fast. While in Chicago last weekend, I was looking up lists of must-experience restaurants around town. A couple of them mentioned a few different spots that offered Puerto Rican "Jibaritos," which have become popular in the city. Jibaritos y Más happened to be the first one that I had read about and offered seafood options (my boyfriend is a pescatarian). On our "tourist day," after visiting a couple of famous landmarks, we were starving for lunch. I recalled this place and my boyfriend was in. We hopped in our rental car and headed over. Parking is a bit complicated because it's all street parking and no lot. Thankfully, we found a space and proceeded to head inside. We were confused because it appeared to be all takeout and no tables. I think the associate knew our thoughts because she asked us if we wanted takeout or dine in. After I said dine in, she said it was next door! Perfect! We walked a few short steps over and were seated immediately. The ambiance was casual and comfortable, and there were a lot of other people dining inside already. We were brought this amazing Puerto Rican bread with to start. It was so soft and addictive. Next we placed our orders: APPETIZERS -Fried Yuca Sticks -Queso Frito (fried cheese with guava sticks) -Maduros Gratinados (sweet plantains with mozzarella cheese + selected protein: shrimp) MEAL -Jibarito con Pulpo y Camarones (tostones sandwich with octopus and shrimp as protein of choice) with a side of Arroz con Gandules (Puerto Rican rice and beans) + a side of house hot sauce DESSERT -Coco Flan (coconut flan) We were absolutely blown away! This should be one of the must try spots when you visit Chicago. Jibaritos y Mas is a mom and pop Puerto Rican restaurant that's specializes in "Jibaritos". Jibaritos is a basically a sandwich with fried plantain as the buns. It is filled with your choice of protein, lettuce, tomato, mayo and served with some Puerto Rican rice. It was definitely the best spot I tried while I was in Chicago. The service was friendly and accommodating, they recommended lots of great food. The restaurant is casual so you can either sit down and enjoy your meal with some friends or grab takeout where you can devour the food without any judgement. Wasn't very crowded but the carry out orders were flowing. Anyway I ordered the Lechon, Arroz con Gandules, Yuca, madura Platanos, arroz con habichuelas & some tostones!! Everything was PERFECT! The lechon is the best I've ever had. It was tender, succulent & very flavorful! The Arroz con gandules was also the best I've tasted! The service was pretty good. This was my first jibarito when I first moved to Chicago and to this day I have not found a better one. Specifically the bistec en salsa. I've converted all my friends to that one. The sides are good too. Ask for extra hot sauce to go with your arroz con gandules. It tastes like it's made in house. The kitchen was behind a glass wall and from we were it also looked to be clean as well. Service was prompt and as it should have been. We had sorullos as a starter. Very decent. I had the mofongo gratin. Mofongo with melted cheese. Not a fan but that is a personal preference. The mofongo itself was good and the steak that came with it was tender and flavorful. This has become our favorite Puerto Rican spot. They have a few locations but Fullerton is closest to our house. My husband loves their lechon and arroz con grandules.
