Very very good and affordable. I came from out of town and saw this place online. Very popular and the waiters were alert and polite.

Very amicable service and the fact you can BYOB is the best. Good was very good and portion was nice. I had the lamb steak dinner. There wasn't a big crowd and was tended to very very well by the waiting staff.

Great place. I was looking for a place to do take-out but was maybe a little less heavy than what I might get somewhere else, and in fact I actually wanted chicken which is probably how I found Brasa Roja online. They have three locations around here and when I did Grubhub I think it was from the Elston location, but I picked up here a few days ago at Montrose. The restaurant was really busy when I got there but when I called to place my order, she said to give them about ten minutes. Ten minutes?? Super fast. My Google Maps said it would take 12 to get there. Parking is probably a bit hit or miss but I lucked out finding a spot on Troy to pop in and pick up. I will definitely continue ordering from them because the quality of the food is fantastic, and it's delicious. I ordered the special both days, which was chicken breast, rice, and beans with a bit of salad. The portions are good--I had leftovers both days, which makes me happy because that's one fewer meal that I have to worry about. The prices were very reasonable as well as far as I'm concerned.

First time here at Brasa Roja!!

Brasa Roja means red embers and that's exactly what you see as you walk in - their rotisserie chickens are roasting over real fire wood. That flavor you can't replicate at Costco, if you've ever BBQd or cooked with real wood, it takes the meat to an entirely different level. This is also a chain but I would go to this location because it has a 4 star overall average whereas the other two locations are in the 3.5 star range. The interior has a lot of nicely painted walls, I guess to make you feel like you're in Columbia?? There's a lot seating and they're well staffed so you won't have any issues getting served. Got half a rotisserie chicken because those red embers got my belly fired up for that. The garlic chicken on a sizzling hot plate was extremely satisfying. First, there was so much of it and the garlic flavor, it was so strong and oh so good. I also enjoyed their accompanying red and green sauces. You also can't go wrong with the ribeye lunch, that's such a deal and a great value for the money and taste. The empanadas was a solid 3 stars, I'd skip those if I were you but you should be the judge of that. Street pahking on Montrose and in the Hood. I think it's BYOB, I'm sure it is.

I got the whole rotisserie chicken. It was a great value. My buddy was raving about this place so I set the bar high. I found it to be good but not great. Still I would recommend this place. Maybe I came on an off day. I'd definitely give them a second chance. Didn't get a picture but had the corn pancake with cheese. That was something I've never had and would highly recommend to anyone visiting here for the first time.

Brasa Roja has a very unassuming storefront, but once you're inside it's kind of magical. Clay tiles rim the interior ceiling and doors and windows are up on the wall, giving the impression that you are eating outside on a patio. We ordered the rotisserie chicken and steak special. The chicken was juicy and charred to perfection, and both dishes came out less than 10 minutes after we ordered. In general, our waitress was very efficient and checked on us regularly throughout the meal. I'd also recommend getting an empanada--it came out steaming hot and was stuffed full of beef and potato.

The review is strictly for the customer service. Every time I call to place an order they pick up and hang up the call. What's up with that?

You order at the food truck window and grab a seat. They brought our food inside to us on a tray. We ordered the rope vieja, steak jibaritos, and flautas . Everything was very good but I especially loved the flautas with the consome. It was absolutely delicious and very unique, I drank the leftover consome because it was that good . Just poor everything in one big bowl . The flautas keep their crisp even when swimming in the broth . I liked the shredded Munster cheese on the jibarito and loved the green sauce . Sooo good!! The restaurant is byob and we brought mixes for bloody Mary's and some beers. It was nice to enjoy the meal and not feel rushed . I really enjoyed the experience, good music playing and kind service . Definitely recommend

The cafe has such an interesting set up. You order from what appears to be a food truck, and there is an outdoor (open concept) and indoor seating. We ordered the steak sandwich and ropa vieja plate. The steak sandwich was DELICIOUS. The bread was crispy, and the meat was flavorful and juicy. The sandwich also paired so well with their garlic side sauces. The Ropa vieja was also so insanely yummy. The beef was so juicy and savory. The garlic rice was also so yummy. I'm not a huge fan of plantains, but the plantains were actually pretty decent! Overall, I had an excellent experience at Omarcitos. I cannot wait to come back once it gets warmer!!

The California Avenue Mirage: A Night at La Licor Panamericana…read more There is a specific kind of architectural seduction that happens on California Avenue. You walk into La Licor Panamericana, and the room immediately starts lying to you. It whispers of long, dusty hauls down the Pan-American Highway, of late-night border crossings and the kind of effortless, high-ceilinged cool that makes you feel like you should be wearing better shoes. It's a masterclass in atmospheric engineering. The lighting is low and amber, the spirits behind the bar are curated with a cartographer's precision, and for a moment, sitting at a table for two, you feel like the protagonist in a *New Yorker* short story about a man who finally has his life together. But eventually, you have to look at the menu. And that's where the fever dream begins to break. The Aesthetic High The vibe is, without question, the main event. It is calm, intentional, and undeniably sexy. It's the kind of place where the playlist feels like it was hand-stitched by someone who spends too much time in record stores, and the air is thick with the scent of agave and ambition. If you are here to nurse a cocktail and trade significant glances across a small table, you have found your Mecca. It's Logan Square at its most cinematic. The Culinary Hunger Gap: The problem is that a journey of 19,000 miles requires more fuel than a handful of small plates can provide. For a place that positions itself as a tribute to an entire hemisphere of culture, the actual food offerings feel remarkably like an after-thought--a series of brief, unfulfilling footnotes to a very long drink list. The Skeleton Menu: The selection is skeletal to a fault. You find yourself scanning the options, looking for a center of gravity--a real meal to anchor the evening--only to find yourself choosing between a few empanadas and some cheese bread. It's not "curated"; it's just sparse. The Logistics of a Meal: For two people trying to actually *dine*, the experience is one of diminishing returns. You order one of everything just to populate the table, yet you leave feeling like you've only had a very expensive snack. It's a "food program" that seems to view eating as a secondary activity, a distraction from the beverage program. The Variety Problem: If you aren't in the mood for the three or four specific things they happen to have that night, the walls close in fast. There is no depth, no backup plan. It's a map with only one or two destinations marked, leaving the rest of the continent unexplored. The Verdict: La Licor Panamericana is a stunning room in search of a second act. It is a brilliant place to exist for forty-five minutes with a glass in your hand, watching the Logan Square night press against the windows. But as a dining destination? It's a beautiful ghost. You go for the mood, you stay for the impeccable craft behind the bar, but you'll inevitably find yourself standing on California Avenue afterward, checking your phone to see who's still serving a real dinner. It's a gorgeous set, but you can't eat the scenery. The Bottom Line: Come for the aesthetic, leave because you're hungry. A top-tier vibe in desperate need of a kitchen that matches its ambition. Protip. Great spot for coffee in the mornings. I love their outdoor patio on the sidewalk. It's a great spot
