I was looking for a great place for birthdays and saw many people come here to celebrate! The waiter/ maybe owner was so friendly and fun when we visited :) it made for a really nice experience! Here's what we got Hemingway in Paris - 3.75/5 we liked this one even more surprisingly! Great balance and also poured a lot lol French martini - 3.5/5 sweet and they poured a lot! Duck confit - 4.5/5 love the sauce and was cooked so tender and juicy. This was amazing! Only minus some points cause the rice it came with was mushy and I liked the flavor but it was sweet and so was the duck so very slightly overly sweet overall French onion soup - 4/5 super cheesy! Love the cheese blend and the taste of the soup and filling was great! However I wish there was a bit more soup and onion in the soup to cheese ratio Hanger steak special - 3.5/5 yummy and tender! It was a good price too Tenderloin - 4.5/5 cooked very nicely and I really really liked the sauce and veggies! Veggies were cooked perfectly and complimented well! The sauce is like black pepper but lighter and creamier Banana flambé - 3/5 they offered us a free dessert between creme brûlée and banana flambé for birthday! So nice and love the fire show! I do wish they cooked it slightly longer to lesson the alcohol flavor but it was good nonetheless!

You have out of town guests coming? You want to make sure they have a memorable visit? Take them to Cafe Renaissance. You and your guests will not be disappointed. Starting with a warm greeting from Saeed, a lovely table awaits. Service is superior and the menu is extensive. All palates will be more than satisfied. Leave room for dessert. I recommend Saeed's specialty coffee.

Authentic French spot that I struggle to call a "restaurant" because coming here is an experience that can not be encapsulated by the food alone First off, the host of the place is extremely gregarious and jokes around with all of the patrons. He even pulled up a seat to one of the tables near ours to chat with the diners lol Also, the place is extremely regally decorated. From the portraits coving the walls to the ornate silverware and dining ware, the vibe here makes you feel like you are eating at a place. As far as the selection goes, they have a comprehensive menu of wine, cocktails, and food options. They also have a tasting menu, but we did not try it I opted for the "French Martini", a French onion soup, and a fillet. It was all totally delicious. We also got complimentary sourdough bread (+ butter) that was so delicious we took it home with us. Additionally, they also gave us a complimentary small portion of dessert! The servers were all very friendly, but the service was very slow and we ended up being there for almost 2 hours. I also did not have my water refilled for about 1.5 hours of the 2. Additionally, the lid to the to-go box that they gave my GF was dirty (luckily we noticed this before putting it on her food), and, although I struggle to complain about a complimentary dessert, there was a huge hair that was baked into my creme brûlée. I get that stuff happens, but this thing was comically big

What we have here is the exact opposite of a chain restaurant. You have a very cozy, romantic, personal spot that offers French dishes and many cocktail options from a fully stocked bar. Flaming desserts and even a flaming Irish Jameson coffee drink. I went with the Angel hair pasta, shrimp, scallops, crab cake & herbs entree. Crab cake was really special and delicious. Shrimp was great slathered in the light and tasty sauce. Scallops also garnished with the same sauce that covers the pasta. I forced myself to finish the whole thing as we were on vaca and didn't see myself wanting to eat it cold as our room had no microwave. The staff was even kind enough to give us a complimentary dessert! I made room in my stomach for this along with a really great cappuccino. I do not think you will be disappointed by coming here if you like fine French cuisine. As always people SYOY!!!

The service and food is is beyond exceptional. I had the chance to take my dad here for his birthday and they made it so special. We started off with the with the Échantillonneur de fruits de mer, which was the shrimp, crab and lobster ravioli sampler. Absolutely amazing! Smaller appetizer portion, but everything was so tasty. My dad and I both got the Jarrets d'agneau braisés au vin rouge. Which is lamb shank which was so fall off the bone tender. Awesome flavor and the vegetables that came with it paired perfectly. They also came out with a surprise plate of desert and a candle for my dad. It was a Monday so the restaurant was quite empty, but the server and the few tables in the restaurant all sang happy birthday to him. Would recommend this place, such amazing service that makes you feel very welcome and at home.

Duck confit a l'orange, perfect and with excellent flavor and presentation. The vegetables are amazing, and the rice was also delicious.

My wife and I have dined at Cafe Renaissance several times, with our most recent experience being our Anniversary. Cafe Renaissance is very fine French dining, with high end menu options. For a high end restaurant I expect high end service and food. Cafe Renaissance delivers a much higher fine dining experience and higher quality of the dining options than you would expect, if I could rate higher than 5 stars I would! As usual my wife and I shared the escargot appetizer, which is excellent, but also makes a great dipping option for the really good bread that is served. I would highly recommend. For our dinner, my wife ordered the Cheveux d'ange aux crevettes, crabe et saint-jacques, Angel hair pasta, shrimp, scallops, crab cake & herbs. The angel hair pasta was incredible, as were the seafood items in the dish. I tried the crab cake and thought it was especially delicious. I ordered the duck confit, a go to favorite of mine. Their orange zest on the duck and the rice was top notch flavors on the dish. The asparagus with sauce is incredible, as was the carrot which was very delicious. Cafe Renaissance is a small, quaint, high end romantic restaurant that I would highly recommend for any occasion, or just a night out when you want something extraordinary. To top it all off, being our Anniversary, they brought out a special dessert consisting of a cake roll, raspberry mousse and a flaky pastry which was mmmmmm. To make the evening sparkle, they served the dessert plate with a sparkler to end our night extra special. There are only a few restaurants I consider among the best in the DC area, and Cafe Renaissance is one of them

Had a wonderful dinner once again at Cafe Renaissance! We were a group of 9 and everything was delicious. I had the Halibut, delicious and always a beautiful presentation. I always enjoy the piano for elevating the night! Our waiter, was wonderful taking care of us. Love having this restaurant in the area.

What a cute little place! We made a reservation and came here for Valentine's day. It is in a little shopping center so parking isn't an issue. Four our drinks, I got a glass of red wine and my boyfriend ordered the Hemingway in Paris cocktail which was easy to drink and pretty good. I was not a fan of the Professor cocktail that he ordered as it was a little stronger and a little more bitter. The staff is so friendly and personable and just made the experience amazing. The owner/host socialized with all the tables and was fantastic. For our appetizer, we got the Huîtres chaudes gratindées aux épinards which were the baked oysters. The oysters were a decent size and a great flavor. We also ordered the Terrine foie de Volaille et Parc. The flavor on this was great and the sauce paired well with the bread. For dinner, I ordered the Jarrets d'agneau braisés au vin Rouge which was the Braised Lamb shank. The Lamb was SO tender but I did wish there was a sauce with it. My boyfriend ordered the Confit de canard à l'orange. That was the duck confit and it was SO good. It was tender and well cooked and the flavor was amazing. For our desserts, I was poured some complimentary port and I ordered a creme brulee cheesecake and my boyfriend ordered the flour less chocolate cake. The Cheesecake was a standard NY cheesecake but I die like the creme brulee topping with the raspberry sauce. The chocolate cake was just a tad too rich for me but still good. Overall definitely recommend coming here!

This was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The ambience and atmosphere of this restaurant is very inviting and feels very high end. The management of Cafe Renaissance made us feel like family, and the food is so mouthwatering. We didn't realize that this restaurant was going to be so busy. Despite not having a reservation, the staff accommodated our party, and even went above and beyond with their customer service. The filet mignon and almond crusted halibut was the best meal I've had in a long time. Already looking forward to our next dining experience here. 10/10

Unfortunately, Captain Pell's missed the mark in providing us with that experience. For starters, the place just through observation, seemed very understaffed. This is what we believe led to our abandonment by our server. Our drinks weren't properly refilled after sitting for some time without our server checking in on us and our food turned cold waiting a lengthy time on condiments. An order for oysters had to be cancelled as they never made it out to our table the entire evening. We requested to speak with the restaurant manager but was only spoken to by a lead server who although kind, did not have the authority to rectify our situation. This spoke volumes as to how the restaurant leadership feels about their patrons. If you are in the northern Virginia area and looking for a great seafood dining experience, definitely seek some of the higher rated seafood establishments in the area.

Recently, Eater DC published a list of what they considered the best steakhouses in the DMV…read more Randy's made the list. We were looking for a place to have our anniversary dinner. After seeing the list, we chose Randy's. Randy's is a Great American Restaurant, and I must say it's so good to go to a GAR with a menu different from the others. In the past, I've written about how one can go to Coastal Flats and get pretty much the same menu as, for example, Jackson's. We made a reservation for 5 p.m. on a Saturday. We arrived about a half hour early, so we asked if they could seat us right then and there. The people at the host stand said "yes". We were seated at a 4-top booth. Thus, there was plenty of room. The booths, which have mohair seat coverings, were a shade of green and quite attractive. The environment clearly says "upscale steakhouse." Our server was prompt in getting to us and asked if we wanted some water. We chose tap water. He gave us time to look over the menu. We decided to not have any appetizers as we didn't want to get too full. To drink, my husband got a glass of Catena Malbec while I got an Espresso Martini. Our server asked if we wanted some bread. We said "yes". The bread basket had 2 flaky, buttery croissants, plus a slice of white bread and a slice with raisins. For our main course, we both got the 7 oz. filet mignon cooked medium rare. We chose to try two sides. One side was "roasted asparagus" which consists of: "poached egg, parmesan (we asked for no cheese and our request was honored), truffled Bernaise aioli". The second side was "Honey roasted organic rainbow carrots," which were "dusted with candied walnuts". As for the food --- We both thought our steaks were properly cooked, However, my husband said his was on the dry side while mine was just right. We both really enjoyed the side dishes. The asparagus was unconventional, to be sure. Never did I have a poached egg with asparagus. I ate the egg, and it was properly cooked. Looking back, I should have thought to put some salt on it as there was none. The truffled sauce was creamy and added nice flavor. The carrots, to me anyway, were a pleasant surprise. The honey added a nice flavor along with the candied walnuts. They, too, were cooked perfectly. As for being "rainbow" carrots, most were orange, with some white and yellow ones. We had some room for dessert, so we decided to share "Tressa's crispy meringue filled with lemon curd and finished with passionfruit coulis". Since it was our anniversary dinner, a dollop of whipped cream was added to the plate. In that dollop was a lit candle, which was a nice touch. I found the coulis to be on the tart side. The lemon curd was mildly flavored. Service was excellent, though dessert took a while ,to arrive. All in all, a nice splurge and we're glad we came here. (Well...we didn't care for the traffic on Leesburg Pike, but the dinner made it worth the trip).

Our dinner last night was disappointing, and it was the worst of the many we've had here. The service was slow. The food was tasteless. We had to delay our departure while they corrected our check. The details are below. Maybe the first clue was when a waiter dropped a butter-coated knife on my back right after I sat down. That would have been a good time to cut our losses, but we persevered. , and it was the worst of We sat for a while before anyone came by to take our drink and appetizer orders. 15 minutes after that, our drinks and four slices of bread arrived. My Trio Manhattan tasted pretty good. (Hold that thought.) 15 minutes after that, the manager stopped by and told us that they had sold the last of the appetizers we ordered and asked us to order replacements, on him. (Hold that thought.) The replacement appetizers arrived. Our beef carpaccio had almost no flavor, except for the drizzle of sauce on top. We ordered our main courses, sides, and another round of drinks. The food showed up, but not the drinks. After asking several waiters, several times, my second Manhattan was delivered. It was warm (probably from sitting on the bar, waiting to be picked up for half an hour) and nowhere near as tasty as the first one. (You can let go of the first thought.) Back to the food... My Boneless Ribeye was boneless and also flavorless, except for the salt they had sprinkled on. The whipped potatoes were OK. The Jumbo Asparagus was asparagus and anything but jumbo. When the check finally arrived, we had to send it back (probably should have done that with much of what had been brought to our table during the meal) because they wanted to charge us for the appetizers that the manager said were "on him." (OK, you can let go of the second thought now.) To me, it's never worth paying for bad food. Being expected to pay a premium for it makes it an even worse value. This place, last night, was a complete waste of money.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, with great ambiance and music that really set the tone for a special night. My husband chose the Platinum Tier dining experience for my special occasion and it was worth it. Our server, Mike, truly made the entire evening unforgettable. From start to finish, he was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. He took the time to explain each dish, offered great recommendations, and made sure we were always taken care of. We started with Brazilian cheese bread, which was just okay, but the trio of flavored butters (gochujang, black sesame, and regular) was unique and delicious. Then came the Fire & Ice seafood tower, which was not only beautifully presented but also came with a dramatic tableside display. The grilled shrimp and oysters Rockefeller were excellent, and the chilled oysters and sashimi skewers were fresh and flavorful. The lotus chips on the side were also a nice touch. One dish that didn't quite hit for me was the lobster tempura--it was slightly salty and it was a bit soggy when I expected it to be crisp. However, the lobster bisque more than made up for it. It was hands down one of the best I've ever had--the broth was light but yet very rich and flavorful, perfectly executed!!! We were also served a shrimp egg custard that was interesting and enjoyable, though we were already starting to get full at that point! Then came the highlight: the unlimited premium meats. Everything from the A5 Japanese Wagyu to the lamb chops was delicious and high quality. The bone marrow pasta and Wagyu fried rice were standout favorites for us as well. The presentation throughout the entire meal was stunning--every dish felt thoughtfully crafted and visually beautiful. What truly made the night special, though, was Mike. He went above and beyond to make my birthday feel celebrated. He surprised me with all three desserts, a complimentary champagne toast, sparkles candles, and even two beautiful take-home gifts (a set of Japanese-style bowls like the ones used for the lobster bisque, with the restaurant's name on them). That level of thoughtfulness meant so much to us. We had so much food that we couldn't finish everything, and Mike kindly allowed us to pack up what we couldn't finished to take home. Overall, this was an incredible experience with outstanding service. Honestly, it was far better than when my husband took me to Hell's Kitchen a few years ago--we spent just as much there but received nowhere near the level of service or even a simple birthday acknowledgment. Highly recommend Churasko, and if you can, ask for Mike--he will take amazing care of you!

Went here to celebrate my brother's birthday for the whole family because I wanted to check this…read moreplace out after seeing it all over social media. Wow were we disappointed. We paid Michelin star prices for airport lounge food. That is how I can describe it. The silver and gold packages per person ARE NOT WORTH IT. They give you unlimited wine and beer but it's not wine you get to choose and they were out of the Japanese beer my brother wanted. They have house sake but you can't choose the sake you want. For the cost of what we paid per person (which includes tip) and the service reflects that. You could tell our server didn't want to come to our table very much at all. The only thing that blew me away with the gold package which is what we got was the grilled pineapple. The silver package sits you in the silver section with the silver buffet. The gold package sits you in the gold section with the gold buffet. You get the point so your party all has to do one of them...then there's the platinum which I will never find out about because it's NOT WORTH IT. I thought we were going to get lobster and oysters and all of the wagyu tacos I saw on instagram. I come to find out that is the à la carte menu and it is probably way cheaper than what we paid. The most disappointing thing was that we were told we were getting something called Australian and American Wagyus??? Yeah they were awful pieces of meat. I wanted the Japanese A5 Wagyu seared in front of me for $150 a person at a JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE. It's not the American steakhouse or the Australian steakhouse...it's Japanese...The Filet and Picanha were the softest pieces of meat they offered but even then I could have cooked and eaten better at home. Thank goodness the one great thing is that they didn't charge us for the 2 kids because there was no way they were going to eat $150 worth of food each. If they had charged us for the kids, it definitely would have been highway robbery. The sushi at their "airport lounge like buffet" wasn't great either. The sushi and seaweed salad was sitting out for awhile. It was my brother's birthday and we didn't get a cake- you could only choose 1 of 3 desserts from their buffet. I wanted to try the 4 milks cake but since we didn't know or do the à la carte we were limited to what they offered in the gold package. The ambience and vibes are cool. But definitely just stay downstairs and order off their menu. To do it right I would have gotten the first drink on the house for ladies at dusk and ordered from menu. I hate these kinds of steakhouses because you're always left feeling like you didn't get the quality -- you just got quantity. We felt defeated and I could have eaten better at Capital Grille or gone to a Michelin and at least would have felt more wow-ed! -after a $1,220 for 6 people, I honestly want my money back...
