Its all about the ambiance with this little cafe. If you sit outside on the patio on a beautiful sunny summer day you are right in front of the fountain and water. The food was just meh! I got the eggs benedict was the hollandaise sauce was very broken and the poached eggs were more like over medium boiled eggs the yolks were fully cooked! The English muffin was squishy but that sauce was not not that great. Service was on the slower side but our server was pleasant. I really wanted to love this place because the view was nice but unfortunately there are so many other places to try these days with much better food. read more

I live very close to Cafe Murrayhill so I love to stop by for breakfast or lunch on occasion. While I enjoy their breakfast menu, my go-to will always be the cafe trio. Their tomato soup is some of the best I've ever had, and I love that you get a few small portions of various items. Strong girl dinner energy. The one downside is the salad is nearly always overdressed. One of these days I'll remember to ask for the dressing on the side. The service is a bit hit and miss, but usually good. 2.5 stars is a better rating. Cafe Murrayhill, 2nd visit this year, will not be back. Had a reservation for 5 for noon on a Sunday. We're seated promptly, water served quickly and were greeted by our server. She came back in a few minutes with a handheld device to enter our orders. Food came out in about 10 minutes. So far so good. Food runners had no idea what they were doing. Didn't know what items were on the tray so when asked which one of the two omelets had provolone cheese they were lost. Returned one to the kitchen, not sure why, and was remade without the proper ingredients. My cousin just went ahead and ate it anyway. One Ruben with cheese, one without. Again the runner didn't know which was which and tried to take the sandwiches back to the kitchen to find out. I politely stopped him and said I could see which was which from my seat. He looked more closely and agreed it was easy to see and served them. Mine was with cheese. One half had almost no ingredients, the other half looked like a Ruben however the corned beef was thin sliced and over grilled resulting in a tough sandwich. The outside of the bread was dry. Rubens should be grilled on the outside with butter to impart a rich flavor. My French fries were the junior portion, the other sandwich had a much larger portion of fries. Seems the front of the house has its act together, the kitchen is not consistent in their food preparation and the food runners have no idea what they are serving. Lots more staff training and cook supervision needed. read more

We have been here several times for breakfast and lunch. The veggie omelette is always delicious, and my boyfriend likes the pulled pork sandwich and the chicken fried steak. Service is always great and we have had the pleasure of being served by Amy more than once. If the weather allows, you can sit outside and enjoy the scenic pond view and they also have a fire pit. Enjoyed a pleasant breakfast on the outside patio last Friday morning. We were seated quickly since the place wasn't crowded and there were more people sitting outside than inside since it was a beautiful morning. Our waitress came with menus and ice water and to take our drink orders almost right away. The menu hasn't changed much over the years and all the "good stuff" is still served. I usually get the Murrayhill Benedict but decided to try something totally different. The Belgian Waffle ($13.00): whipped cream, choice of fresh strawberries, banana, or raspberry puree, sounded perfect. I got the fresh strawberries and no whipped cream. One nicely brown 8-inch Belgian waffle (a little sweeter than I like) with sliced strawberries scattered on top, accompanied by one melted cube of wrapped butter and a shot glass size serving of syrup. Nothing really to complain about, just a waffle on a white plate with sliced fruit. I was underwhelmed to say the least. Next time I'll order a side meat like bacon or sausage to fill up space on the plate and my tummy. My husband had the Hash & Eggs ($15.00): house made smoked pulled pork or pork sausage, mixed with house potatoes, Cajun hollandaise, caramelized onions and red peppers and eggs (any style) and choice of toast. He enjoyed it. The view of the man-made lake and fountain and Canada geese is still relaxing and worth a wait to sit outside or at a window inside. We will definitely be going back to try lunch again very soon. The Club Panini is my favorite. read more

My Wife and I celebrated our Wedding Anniversary tonight by dining at Cafe Murrayhill. Food. My Wife ordered the fish taco, which she raved about. I had the beef stroganoff and Murrayhill small salad. Both were delicious. Service. Our waitress Angie was friendly and helpful. My Wife wanted the Sangria drink, but, not the grapefruit that came with it. Angie kindly had the grapefruit substituted with other fruits, which included strawberry, blueberry. Angie graciously took pictures of us, when asked, so that we could remember the occasion. Ambiance. The restaurant was clean and tidy. The view of the lake with the lighted water fountain in the middle of it was beautiful. Thank you to Cafe Murrayhill and Angie for making our Anniversary so special. read more

I've been here twice with my family for brunch. The place can be busy over the weekends and it may be worth while to call in advance and ask about the wait and make a reservation. If you come in at the peak time around 10 a.m., the wait can be 30+ minutes. We were lucky both times we came in early ( 9 a.m.) and got a perfect table overlooking the pond and fountains. Service was o.k. the wait staff were short-handed and took a little more time to attend to us. I'd suggest you know what you want to order and place it when the wait staff shows up at your table. The Murrayhill Benedict, Pancakes, Breakfast Burrito, and Belgium waffles were delicious, however the benedict portion size was less than I expected. We enjoyed the breakfast and had a pleasant time. We want to love this Cafe and be regulars there. First impressions were strong but there's room for improvement on our first visit. Our plans changed and we bumped our early evening reservation to be a late lunch (13:30). There was still a few people sat after us, even though it was past what we assumed was the end of lunch service (14:00) time. Service was very slow, a couple of times we were close to getting up to look for our waiter! The interior is contemporary, bright and fresh, with windows overlooking the lake, and outside seating. We sat inside at a booth. The food was good, although the grilled chicken on my Cobb salad had seen a better day. I suspect it was grilled earlier and either kept warm, or (horrors!) put in a microwave. It was tough and flavorless. Wifey had a chicken sandwich that looked great, I'm not a fan of the "coated fries" (which often show up unannounced at other restaurants) Please stick with real potatoes and no fancy stuff! Large "Steak fries" preferred. We skipped cocktails and had soft drinks (with refills), and was tempted by a shared dessert. The upside-down Apple Pie ala Mode was fantastic! The cheeky server asked us to give him a good rating at tableside check out. Not cool! Fingers-crossed we do better next visit. This cool place deserves a second chance. read more

This is an update to the glowing review I gave over five years ago. We have been taking our daughter there for her birthday almost every year since then. I would still have to agree on almost everything I said five years ago-service, ambience both amazing, but this time I was very disappointed in the food. I ordered the Parmesan Crusted Halibut, as it has always been to die for, but this time something was off. It was dry, and the entire plate, halibut, mashed potatoes and asparagus, looked as though it had been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour or so. The fish wasn't fishy, but it tasted old. They should not have served it. If that one plate was all they had, they should've said they were out and recommended I order something else. I ate half of it and had them box up the rest, but I didn't bother taking it home. At $31.00 I feel ripped off. So sad. That said, our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. We ate outside and other than a very hungry bee who kept hovering over our food, it was peaceful and beautiful out by the fountain. But because of my disappointing food, I'm going to have to take back a couple stars and just give this place a three. I kind of doubt they will still be in business by my daughter's next birthday, but even if they are, we'll probably go someplace else. Service was slow, wasn't awed by the food. The quinoa breakfast bowl had a very laughable tiny amount of avocado and the asparagus was tiny chopped amounts. We dinned here on Christmas Eve. Holidays at restaurants are never expectational. We made a reservation for our party of 5 through TOCK, but there did seem to be some confusion upon our arrival. I noticed that other tables had a reserved sign, but for us they had us wait off to the side while they cleaned a table even though we arrived right on schedule. Once we were seated for the most part things did improve. They took our order in a timely manner, and our food was delivered almost too quickly. We were dining pre-Christmas Eve mass, and ended up having too much time to kill after dinner, as they were quicker than expected (not complaining) I ordered the butternut squash ravioli which I really liked. However, two of the people at our table ordered the Blackened Chicken Alfredo. Both said their dish was ok. I don't eat meat so I am unable to verify this myself. Dishes like the country fried steak and the breakfast burrito stand out, but I've never had a bad breakfast here. Is there an award for best service in Beaverton? If so, this place should get it, with Tracey and Omni always making us welcome and comfortable. Beaverton isn't known for views, but this place should win Best View, too. read more

I was told at 11:25 that it would be a 20-25 minute wait, so I signed up for the waitlist. At 12:08 I went to ask how much longer it would be because the app was telling me there were still 5 people ahead of me and it would be 30-40 minutes. The hostess said it would be at least another 30 minutes because people were still eating and there were others in line in front of me. Had she been honest at the beginning, we would not have wasted 30 minutes sitting there waiting for a table. (And she should have known then that all the tables had just been seated). We left, going next door to the murrayhill taphouse. The food next door was better than the last time we visited murrayhill cafe, and there was zero wait. In short, if you're told a reasonable wait time, don't believe them because they're just trying to keep you from going to the murrayhill taphouse.
