URGENT UPDATE: The food made me sick with food poisoning so I had to call the health department. Noticed several others reviews on different sites had the same complaint. For this, i'm forced to take back my positive review of the freshness. Makes me wonder if they spoof their own positive reviews like so many other businesses do. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I feel I must leave a TRULY honest and unbiased review since I think most feel obligated to leave a good review (as I was) to be nice due to friendly staff and good atmosphere. While with changes, this could be a GREAT cafe. I was extremely dissatisfied and disappointed in the food. Staff was friendly, other than cashier coming off as over bearing and desperate for a tip. After laying the pad down in front of me asking what tip to leave, she just stared glarringly at me with a forceful look (which lowered my tip amount). Kinda felt like a mafia shake-down, almost leading to not leaving a tip at all if not scared what would happen to my food. I ordered the shrimp toast and mocha coffee. The shrimp toast was a bit small, but ok sized. The taste was that of a lower end grocery store (think Walmart) pre-packaged shrimp salad. Was supposed to have balsamic glaze (what sold me on it). However it just had a few drops on the plate itself for show as compared to being drizzled on the sandwich. It was a single thin slice of bread, with the shrimp salad on top. Which made it difficult to eat without having to constantly reassemble from the pieces you're guaranteed to drop everywhere. While the taste was eh, edible when starving, I came to regret it as I had to purchased something immediately after from another place to wash the bad after taste out of my mouth that seemed to linger. The mocha coffee wasn't mocha at all. It just tasted actually like over bearingly strong straight coffee. Which I had to cut down with six creamers, and still tasted strong but drinkable. If you're a strong coffee taste lover, it's a good pick as it did taste fresh. In my opinion, it's one of those places where people with bloated ego's come for the upscale atmosphere to be seen. So they over charge and don't worry as much about good tasting products. But as mentioned, only thing I had was the shrimp toast and coffee. But that was enough for me to know I never want to eat there again. But if you're looking for good atmosphere to sit and work, or just the type that likes to be seen at places like that, then it's an ok spot for that. A+ for atmosphere and location. A- for service. F- for taste and quality. A+ for freshness. C- for price compared to quality and flavor. read more

This place looks like a fun place to eat and it is fun. The decor is eye-catching and the staff is enthusiastic. But the fun ends there. We went in this morning for some breakfast and ordered the breakfast burritos. There aren't words to describe just how plain gross they were. The tortilla was dry and resembled cardboard. The eggs tasted like powdered blecch. THe sausage was a greasy mess. Then the cheese sauce over the whole thing. Springfield restaurants sometimes buy in to the local belief that a crappy cheese sauce makes everything better. It doesn't... and this burrito may be the best example ever. I don't know what happened to great food at a restaurant. Places like this and it's neighbor down the road The Incubator have focused on environment and lost their way with the food. I told him I was weighing my options, and he told me that the chicken pot pie was calling my name. Because I believe in fate, I tried it, but I also wanted soup- I ordered the tomato bisque- a safe yummy backup, right? To round out my meal, I was offered a choice of crackers or biscuit- I know a biscuit would be made here, so that seemed like an obvious choice. Fresh brewed peach tea? Yes, thank you. Do you have simple syrup to sweeten it? No, but I'll make you some. (What?! Really? Great!). Now, to the eating. Yes, the pot pie called my name. It was ridiculously good. The peach tea was perfect- just right sweet. And that soup? I just wanted to try it- I was full from the blissful pot pie- the soup is now all gone, too. So good, creamy, so smooth. We went in for some brunch and were pleasantly surprised by cafe moxo. We ordered the avocado toast and giddy up breakfast sandwich with coffee and cookies. Both the toast and sandwich were very tasty with standout sauces/fillings, although the bread and bagel themselves were a little lackluster. The cookies are definitely not to be missed! We got the brean and double chocolate. Both were caramelly and chewy with crisp edges and lots of chocolate. A couple of weeks ago I ventured out to good ole' Springfield because a friend of mine just opened up her first bakery there. After we visited, we were starving, and used the Yelp app to see what was around for lunch. After reading the glowing reviews of Moxo, we decided to give it a try! Parking was so easy... I didn't see a parking lot, but there were so many meters open that it didn't matter. There were also plenty of places to sit even during the busy lunch hour, so we were pleasantly surprised. While we were there I was still trying to get over a cold, so I noticed the sign that said "homemade chicken noodle soup" right away. You order at a counter, and I could see a big pot of it and was immediately sold. I went with the soup and sandwich combo, pairing the chicken noodle with the Medley sandwich (turkey, bacon, provolone, ranch dressing, and chipotle mayo grilled on Multigrain.) I can't even begin to explain how great this food was! The homemade noodles were so hearty, and the sandwich was so flavorful and expertly made. To top it all off, the staff was above-and-beyond. So friendly and helpful, and our plates were cleared the minute we were done. I can't recommend this spot enough if you're in the Springfield area! Very hip and trendy - and well played. They have huge piles of gianormous mouthwatering cookies at the front counter so you have no choice but to wag your head yes when the clerk offers to sell you one. And it tastes as good as it looks. It had gouda and american cheese, bacon, avacado and tomato on a grainy bread. The gobble gooble was also a great choice. Turkey, spinach, tomato, cranberry cheam cheese, on a pretzel roll. The tara Michelle sandwich was the weak link. Chicken salad on a croissant. Kind of plain and the croissant was cold. Warming it up would have helped improve this sandwich. Springfield is such a small town it's weird to see a sandwich place like this here. Not that it's a bad place; a place that's open in downtown Springfield is cause enough for celebration, even with the odd layout-there's a travel agency that shares space with them and the back door is along the wall of Moxo, in a surreal, out-of-context way. The inside kind of reminds me of Bourgeois Pig but with more comfortable seating. The sandwiches are great-I had the turkey club and the soup of the day, Italian Chicken was delicious. I usually don't indulge too much but a friend of mine that lives here said to try a smoothie, and on a lark, bought a cookie. The club was a good blend of turkey and bacon-took the last of the bacon that day. The bread was soft and yummy. I got the soup with bread, and wished I had more to go with it, just one piece and it was pretty small, but the soup itself was hot and fresh. The cookie, seemed like it had been freshly baked even though they were in a jar, rethinking my view on sweets with meals-not really a big sweets guy. The smoothie was okay, a lot of places can be hit or miss, especially when it's not made with fresh fruit. It was good going down but a few minutes afterward it felt like I had swallowed a giant sugar pill. My friend and I are big soup fans so we decided to try the clam chowder and chicken noodle soups and were given a choice of crackers, bread, or cheddar bacon biscuit. Um, duh...the biscuit please! Clam chowder was divine: not too salty as is often the case, creamy and perfect with huge chunks of clams. The chicken noodle was more like a homemade chicken dumpling soup with square flour noodles and a delicious thick broth. Then there were those biscuits. I could eat like 12 of these!! (Not really)They were huge, scone-like and cakey, smoky and savory. So good. The owner/manager/cashier was really friendly and funny. Ordered take out breakfast. I had biscuits and gravy, sausage patties and bacon. The bacon was perfect and exactly crispy enough but not too much. The biscuits and gravy are among the best I have ever consumed. The biscuits were cooked perfectly and had just a hint of sweetness. The gravy was white gravy "Okie style." Cooked perfectly!
