Excellent food as the other reviews have already stated. The customer service js very polite and kind. You order at the counter first and the sit down, they bring the food to you. There is also a digital dine in option to order from your table. I ordered the chicken pot pie. I devoured it. It was delicious and piping hot. My daughter ordered the southwest cobb salad and she said it is wonderful.

Today is my second visit and I just barely made the 10:30am breakfast cutoff. The owner or manager was kind enough to let me order breakfast. I got a made to order breakfast burrito with eggs and cheese. Was pleased to see it came with white flavorful cheese sauce mmmm. It had black beans and corn inside as well. A very generous and tasty portion. The nice touch was the side of fresh seasonal berries. My first visit here I missed breakfast but I got the Heather Feather plant-based burger which is amazing. This is a clean, pleasant cafe with very friendly staff. A nice place for a quick bite and some good iced tea.

I gotta say I love Cafe Moxo's new location. Much easier parking and so much more space. At first, the ordering was a bit confusing. We had to order our food with one woman at the counter and then order with someone else separately for coffee. The silverware and water needed refilled, but this was probably just because it was lunch time on a busy Saturday afternoon. The inside was freezing but possibly could have been avoided if we sat somewhere else. I had the combo with the chicken noodle soup and club sandwich which was absolutely incredible. The soup was so hearty and the sandwich was so full. They do NOT skimp on the ingredients. I tried the iced brown sugar latte and the cold foam really took it up a notch

Who doesn't love a good breakfast spot?? This place is definitely a gem. You place your order at the counter and find a place to sit. The vibe is kind of a hip Friend's coffee house. The team is very helpful and friendly. We went with biscuits and gravy which were house made. The Sunshine sandwich had a lot to offer in a breakfast sandwich. Our favorite was the breakfast burrito with carnitas. We left the eggs out and still made for a very hearty meal. The pork was Smokey and juicy. The cheese sauce rounded out a very nice dish. I was told they were voted best cookie in Springfield. Of course that prompted us to purchase additional baked goods to take with us. The oatmeal cookie is fantastic!! We also had a French toast muffin and a giant cereal treat bar. We were not let down by any of our choices. There is a decent Coffee menu, but we didn't try anything on the menu. Definitely a place worth checking out when you're in the area.

We ate three meals here over the course of two days - 2 breakfasts, one lunch. Cafe Moxo was highly recommended by locals so we went. Avocado Toast (twice): their avocado toast was very good. It is served on toasted break (there is a gluten free option). It is covered with bruschetta and a few other toppings. I found it to be quite good. Chicken Salad Sandwich: Their portion was generous. There was a lot of chicken, and it was dense/heavy. One comment was it was dry. While I don't like a lot of mayo, it could have used more or something that made it less dry. Coffee: While I wouldn't say their coffee is as good as some of the boutique coffee shops, it wasn't bad at all. So I agree with those who sand Cafe Moxo's praises and I do recommend.

While an unexpected family emergency brought me to SPI this week, my mom and I have been spending 12 hour days at the hospital and doing no cooking. We're happily letting the fantastic local restaurants around town do that for us. Today we went to Cafe Moxo. Mom has been here a ton but this was my first time. We both got their combo. For $12.50 you can pick any two: soup, salad, a half a sandwich, or Mac N cheese. The combo also comes with a cookie. I went with half Sammy and salad; the Shawnee and the Southwest Cobb Salad. The sandwich was on fresh wheat roll, ham, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and their honey Dijon. For their cookie I selected the Bre' Ann. It had everything in it and was baked fresh, soft and delicious. The sandwich has all the things I like and was fresh and yummy. The salad as you can tell from the photo was loaded with all the great stuff you're looking for in a southwest Cobb salad: romaine. chicken. bacon. diced egg. tomato. carrots, shredded cheddar, tortilla strips, chipotle vinaigrette. The homemade chipotle vinaigrette was a first for me and it was delicious! I still have half of the salad left and will enjoy the rest again tomorrow! The picture of their dogs that are behind the name of the restaurant added even more love behind supporting local and this great cafe in downtown SPI.

Second time coming here, and it just keeps getting better! As usual the customer service is A1! Great ya when you walk in! Always courteous! "We'll substitute anything!" Awesome answer I received today! I went with the Highly Recommend, What They Are Known For" Chicken Pot Pie! Trust me when I tell you I was not disappointed! Scrumptious is a great word to describe it. (Also amazing, comforting, delicious). I had the Huck Finn sandwich last time, so you can't go wrong. Great place!

Got the individual chicken pot pie, the Tully sandwich and the deviled egg there for lunch. The chicken pot pie was really a hit. Super flavorful and filling! There was chicken, potato gravy, peas, green beans, corns and carrots inside. The serving size was also just right. It was my first time to have deviled egg and it was interesting. Basically the egg yolk was substituted with tomatoes and bruschetta. The Tully sandwich is in fact a grilled cheese sandwich. They put a HUGE amount of cheese between the bread. The only thing disappointed me a bit was service. The staff forgot my request for no sauce for the sandwich.

Went here with my family. I had the mac n cheese and it was good; the noodles had a bite to it and very cheesy. Wish I got toppings. The chicken noodle soup was very hearty. The leprechaun sandwich went well with it. My brother said that the sunshine sandwich was tasty. The service was good. You placed your order at the counter and they bring it to you. It was a cute shop. The place is mostly wheelchair accessible. The bathroom has a manual door. Will come back when I'm in the area. read more

We stopped at Cafe Moxo on our way back to Chicago from St Louis and had a great lunch. There were plenty of options to pick from on the menu and the staff was very helpful providing recommendations. We ordered the pot pie, kids Mac and cheese, the leprechaun (corned beef) and a half & half sandwich and salad. All of our entrees we'very good and each came with a cookie! I do like and appreciate this place for a quick bite downtown. Though this time I was pretty offended when the server didn't believe my 74 year old father when we said he didn't receive one of his sides. When I then asked for it, she walked to our bags that were now on a table and searched through them, touching all of our food in disbelief. It was outright offensive. C'mon Moxo, not only is this a pandemic (and that is incredibly unsanitary), I'm not trying to steal a damn fruit cup. read more

Cafe Moxo is a great choice in downtown Springfield. The food is quite good and reasonably priced. Service is prompt and friendly. We especially like the care that Cafe Moxo is taking these days. The kitchen and wait staff wear masks. A sign prominently on the front door asks patrons to wear masks too. We didn't see anyone coming or going without a mask. Hand sanitizer is conveniently available too. Outdoors the Cafe has set up a very comfortable seating area. There are tables under shade trees and tables under awnings. The street out front has been blocked to traffic and the outdoor area is peaceful and quiet. All in all, Cafe Moxo "gets it." We like eating here. WE FEEL SAFE EATING HERE. Consequently, we're glad to give the Cafe our business. Cafe Moxo deserves your business, too! read more

I ordered the wrong thing at this restaurant. If my rating was based on my meal it would be a 1 star. I had the avocado toast. I don't think the person who prepared my meal knows that avocados should be soft and mashed. I could not even cut the avocado with my fork. It was so hard. It was not edible at all. My husband had the mojo cristo. It was delicious. Note to self. In the Midwest order Midwestern cuisine. Everything else looked amazing. read more

My friend and I stopped here on a small road trip from St. Louis and were thrilled with finding Cafe Moxo. Not only does this place have a great story with a name inspired by the owners' dogs, but the food was amazing!! The tomato soup was some of the best I've ever had. Cafe Moxo is one of the best reasons to go downtown. The Harvest soup should be served all year round. So Good... Everything we had was brilliant! The chicken pot pies are as great as they say. And the chocolate cookie is so soft and wonderful, definitely treat yourself to one (or two). We had a nice little lunch here, and luckily they have outdoor seating. You queue up and order inside, and with mine, they loaded up my little tray and then I had to go to another stand for napkins, silverware, and the door to outside was very heavy, so I spilled my soup all over the tray trying to push it open. It was a busy place and lots of friendly, happy people who looked like they ate their frequently. I had a lovely tomato soup and hubby loved his chicken noodle soup. The avocado toast was just so so- it was minimal on the avocado and more like bruschetta (luckily I like that). The best thing of the meal was the bacon cheddar biscuit--OMG, it was so moist and tasty. They also had good fresh brewed iced tea, but I got the impression there weren't refills, tho not sure. They also had a bunch of different kinds of freshly made cookies, and gargantuan Rice Krispie treats! read more

This is a nice spot for a quick lunch. The have some unique sandwiches and delicious cookies. The restaurant is close to the Springfield Visitors Center and the Old State House building. Try a combo lunch with a salad and a 1/2 sandwich. Just the right size for a filling lunch. read more

Cafe Moxo is a trendy, sparsely decorated, order-at-a-counter place with excellent soups, sandwiches, and cookies! Lunch with their sausage/squash soup was good and their sandwiches are interesting and so good. Only downside was that they didn't deliver all of our food and then got mixed up and brought us extra. They definitely tried to make it right, but would have been better if we would have just gotten what we ordered in the first place! But all in all, a great little spot for lunch! read more

I missed breakfast time :( since they stop serving breakfast at 10:30 am. However, I did not want to leave Springfield without trying cafe Moxo... I ordered chicken pie, bacon biscuit and tuna sandwich. OMG !!!! I'm glad I did try it!!! I absolutely enjoyed the tuna sandwich. Succulent combination of ingredients. Biscuits are the best ever and can not wait to come back and try the breakfast. I saved the chicken pie for dinner and it is cooked to perfection. Great amount of chicken, potatoes, and peas... crispy on the outside!!! Just perfect!! Definitely , it's a must while in Springfield! read more

Great local spot. Options to sit inside or outside. We had hot honey chicken sandwich and The Beebs wrap. Both were delicious. The brunette in the wrap was really a nice mix with chicken.. Their Chicken noodle soup is the closest thing to my Grandmas and my kids & I can't live without their Rice Krispies. They run their business like a fine-tuned machine. On our way home from Texas to Wisconsin we decided to give this place a try because of its reviews. Typically I will take bad reviews to heart, but this time I decided to take a chance. What a horrible mistake that was! My girlfriend and I ordered the breakfast burrito because who can mess up a burrito, right?! Ha! Apparently this place can! Because the so called tortilla was nothing but a rolled-up cardboard delightfully stuffed with a sad excuse of scrambled eggs, but can you really call powdered eggs, eggs? To bring it home, they also stuffed it with some rubbery substance pretending to be a sausage patty! Talk about elementary cafeteria or boot camp food flashbacks! read more

I've come here several times to eat or cater treats or a meal for a hospital unit - literally everything is amazing!! The cookies, pot pie...YUM! The service is outstanding. Went yesterday to grab cookies and decided to stay for breakfast- the cheddar together bagel was life changing - stole some hashbrowns from my friend and they were equally delish! So worth a stop in Springfield!! read more

We found this place on Yelp and the reviews were spot on. We stopped in Springfield on our way home to Chicago from St Louis. After visiting the Abraham Lincoln Museum (also great!) we looked in Yelp for a good local place. We all got different dishes from the menu. Our daughter who LOVES chicken pot pie said theirs was one of the best she's ever had. Our son had Mac n cheese, my husband had the corned beef and I had the Caprese sandwich. Everythjng was excellent. The cookies were the perfect ending to an amazing meal before getting back on the road. read more

Well, this was just a fantastic lunch! The service is great, also. I came with my boyfriend, and it's a very pleasant atmosphere. I got the turkey wardolf salad, without the dressing. I got honey Dijon on the side. The salad is amazing! I love the combo of ingredients, and everything was fresh. The price was definitely reasonable. My boyfriend got mac n cheese with some spinach, onions, panko, and bacon. He loved it! Great topping options. Everything was clean, and served in a timely manner. I'd 100% return! read more

Ordered breakfast from here while passing through Springfield. The biscuits and gravy was hearty, filling and delicious. I made the mistake of not asking for my bagel NOT toasted as I planned to take it home with me and toast later on. (My fault not theirs). The hash brown casserole was delicious too! This was supposed to be breakfast, then before I know it it's 11. They do a huge take out and online business. Someone was getting all the bag lunches together. Basil loved the shrimp roll. It has tarragon so I settled on a combo of half a chicken salad. I like the plain not the curry. I tried the mac and cheese and it was a cheese sauce, not melted cheese. They gladly replaced it with a chicken noodle soup. The family recipe of Grandma Jessie. It's loaded with thick noodles and lots of chicken, yet plenty of delicious broth. Iced tea was awesome. We left quite satisfied with chocolate chip cookies in tow. The people are amazing here and really in great moods at an early hour. So welcoming. The go-to lunch spot. Plenty of options available and the menu items are savory across the board. The lunch special for 10.50 is worth coming in for. Had the Cha Cha sandwich with a fruit medley and an unsweetened tea. Service is quick and friendly each visit Ive been here. I need to return and give the chicken pot pie another try. Didn't have enough of the crust on the serving but it was steaming and packed with plenty of chicken bits. Will also say Im a fan of the bakery items. Established in 2007.

My wife, Shawna and I moved to Springfield to open Cafe Moxo. We named the restaurant after our two dogs (Moxyn and Rambo)....though they no longer leave slobber and dog hair on this earth, they will live on everyday at the restaurant.

Meet the Business Owner: Mark F.

As a little boy, my dreams were centered around food. My elementary school report cards always had a section stating what we wanted to be when we grew up. I either wanted to open my own restaurant or become a truck driver. So you may ask, a truck driver? Yes, it certainly makes sense to a 5 or 6 year-old that truck drivers get to eat out every meal and restaurant owners, well they live where others dine out. So, it seems I probably could just trade my suv in for a truck and all my life's dreams will have come true. Ahhhh, not yet, I would like to be around long enough in the business so my children can decide their own dreams!

By the time half of our table leaves we go in to check on the food. They say it's coming... we check on the food again. They say it will be right up. It was not. I ask for a refund, the guy says "it's done, do you still want it?". I sigh and say yes. Five more minutes pass... I settle on my refund from a woman with a shitty attitude. No apology, no nothing. Not worth the visit.

Nigh, Wizards of your perfect latte, iced coffee, even frozen treats with more than just the gold standard fare. Kelly was great as usual, such a fantastic smile. Beatrice, or Ms Potts as I've come to know her to be is always their first customer of the day! Java Joe is probably working another double for those precious twins he and his lovely wife just had. Children laughing just outdoors on Adams street poised for another bountiful harvest at the farmers market. It's not like they have Jewel on repeat, but sultry singers one after the next on the air. A newbie drops a large pot, but just laughs and giggles from the waitstaff as they all clean up together like a well rounded group of role players and specialists. From the smells to the sounds and finally tastes of serendipity coffee drinks and convections. My personal favorite of course is the piping hot chocolate with extra whipped topping, no cherry no thank you. But dutifully made to perfection, as I take that first drink it cools just enough to not burn the tongue but still warm the soul. Cafe Moxo's customer service = Perfection! I've not only never had a bad experience at Cafe Moxo, I've come across the unheard of in that restaurant. I was behind a poor soul one day who had forgotten her wallet at work and was devastated. She asked if she could set her tray aside and come back. I offered to pay for her.....Cafe Moxo would not let me pay nor let the customer walk away. The gentleman INSISTED the patient enjoy her lunch at that moment and come back to pay when convenient. I visited Cafe Moxo with high expectations due to its popularity, but the experience was fairly average. The gravy tasted very artificial, almost like it came from a can, and overall the food was nothing surprising. There is no table service--you order at the counter, and once your food is ready, you also have to get your own utensils and napkins. Essentially, you serve yourself. The place seems to be popular more because of hype than actual food quality. It's not bad, but it doesn't stand out or live up to the reputation. Cafe moxo is one of the most fun places to eat downtown. The cafe environment is fast-paced but there are places to relax and enjoy your food. The breakfast is amazing and the lunch comes in a large variety. I work a few blocks away and love that they have pre-ordering services so I can just swing by during my lunch hour. It seemed like they added a TON of sugar to all flavors (even the salmon and capers one which should be completely savory)- couldn't even scoop out insides and just eat the whites.
