Last week I was visiting some friends in Cols. and they mentioned they had been there. We went back and had breakfast. It was such an enjoyable experience. Not a very big place but the inside is lined with all kinds of photos and travel stuff on the walls. I spent a short time just looking around. The menu had everything from breakfast, sandwiches and dinners available. The prices are very reasonable and the service was outstanding. Tommy's Diner has been featured on Diner's Drive-Ins and Dives. Also they have been voted best roadside diner by USA Today magazine. I can't begin to say enough good about this place.

I ordered a grilled chilled cheese to be safe because I suspected the quality of other items would be questionable. Unfortunately, the grilled cheese is made with one single slice of Kraft American Singles. Not even real cheese and it wasn't fully melted. The fries are frozen crinkle cut fries, also somehow cold. The bacon was gross, tastes dry and just low quality, like microwave kind? I tried my son's kid waffle which was surprisingly decent. Hash-browns were okay just unseasoned. Overall would not recommend if you're looking for quality ingredients but if you're looking for a greasy spoon you're in business. The staff was nice, probably the only positive for me.

First time my wife and daughter stopped before our daughter headed overseas for two years in the Peace Corps. Scotty''s is super close and convenient to the airport. It was my turn, dining alone but nothing about a table for one at Scotty's is lonely. The staff are immediately welcoming and every customer is every employee's charge. Four different people helped me or just checked in. The Gina breakfast combos have lots to offer for breakfast. But I was thrilled this 9:30 am to be assured the whole menu was available. I was looking for something less common and was excited to see potato latkes with sour cream and apple sauce as an option. That would have been great but then the waitress (Salome maybe) said, "Do you like corned beef?" The Schmoozer is 3 enormous latkes with thinly shaved and lightly grilled corn beef on top with an over easy egg atop that. Seriously, I can declare victory for finding something I'd never had before. Never would have found it without the nudge. Had to cut myself off with all the coffee offers. Just a great vibe. You rarely see a 4.9 rating and even more rarely that high based on so many reviews. But I understand why - like in so many things in life, it is about the people. And the joy they bring to every conversation.
