Delicious vegetarian food! To know you can come here and get classics that you can't always as a vegetarian is really nice - it will cost you though as it is a bit expensive (particularly a nice morning beverage $15 for a mimosa whew, that apple cider one though is tasty). The service is always good and the staff is friendly but it is extremely hard to get into. They do not take reservations and you can expect to wait an hour or so on the weekend for a spot. You can wander the few street shops though for awhile. It is also quite loud when you enter and if you get the chance to be seated outside in the garden the space is beautiful but you might get an uneven table. I particularly love the butternut squash scramble on their menu! I came here after getting engaged and it was a great way to celebrate! read more

We came in for dinner last night to celebrate my birthday. I was super excited to come to Cafe Flora as it has been on my radar for a long time. Our experience was incredibly disappointing. We sat for a while before our waiter took our drink order - we were waiting for our kids so I can understand maybe he thought we didn't want anything just yet. Once the rest of our table arrived, it took at least 10 more minutes to get their drink order. We put in our food order at the same time. It came out staggered. My dinner and 2 of our kids received theirs 5-7 minutes before the rest of the table so ours was getting cold. The pizzas were good as was the black bean burger. The mushroom french dip and the waffle were not. THey were poor quality for a restaurant specializing in vegetarian food. The onion rings on my waffle were terrible and over cooked. Our waiter never checked in with us during our meal. We had to ask someone to pay our bill. I had such high expectations for Cafe Flora. I really thought I was going to be blown away by the food and service. Sadly, I was not. The meal was not cheap and we knew that going into it, but for what we got we feel really disappointed. Love the idea of a completely plant-based dining experience, especially with a wide menu and different flavor profiles. I was happy when my bestie booked this for my palette pleasure - even though the other 3 were carnivores. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers - artichoke dip was excellent, Brussels sprouts were good, the cauliflower was cooked well but a strong flavor choice with Dijon mustard dressing and the kale salad was blanched and delicious. Our entrees were a bit disappointing - at least mine was. Requesting the burger as gluten-free actually made it into a pita wrapped gyro and the flavors got totally lost. The pita itself tasted undercooked and doughy. The risotto was the one entree hit at the table and the sweet potato fries were yummy. Service was lackluster - probably she was overwhelmed though the restaurant was about half full. She got the wrong order and was visibly frustrated when we mentioned that. I've been going for 10~ years, and I feel that while they're getting more interesting and experimental in recipes, it's not always paying off, and the quality of standard dishes has started to take a cut (specifically in the scrambles). Tried the mochi beignets and they were awful in texture and taste. Tried the scallion potato waffle and there was really just something missing to balance it. I'll start by saying I'm not vegetarian/vegan; but I'm equal opportunity when it comes to quality, great tasting food. Cafe Flora executes well. We recently went to the Halloween High Tea, and I fell in love. They had the place decorated for a spooky ambiance but not over done. The staff was super friendly and explained everything, as it was our first High Tea there. The tea is excellent sourced from Portland. The food items were so clever arranged from savory to sweet. They had gougeres with eyes, candy corn scone, and ghost merengues just to name a few of the times. Although they don't take reservations in general, they do reserve for the teas because they are super sold out on them. They also have a little parking lot which makes it really nice to navigate. The rose cardamom latte was my most favorite! The grapefruit mimosa was okay. They have quite an extensive menu for drinks. The Asian garlic noodle bowl was absolutely delicious and very light on the stomach. The biscuits and gravy although good, but not my thing, kinda heavy. I'd rather order the biscuit with jam. I know I'm super late in trying this place, but better late than never, right? :) I feel like it's hard to find solid brunch places these days, so I'm glad I was able to finally check out Cafe Flora! I came here for brunch on a Wednesday morning with two friends, and there was no wait. The restaurant is actually pretty big - there's like three separate dining areas.. BUT I wouldn't be surprised if there's a wait on weekends since they don't take reservations. In case you didn't already know, Cafe Flora is a vegetarian restaurant! The menu has a good variety though so you wouldn't really know.. unless you already knew ;) I tried the Rancho Colorado scramble with tofu and grits and it was pretty good! The scramble was really flavorful and I enjoyed the grits instead of the more common side of potatoes. My friends tried the strata and the Southern Platter and they were both happy with what they got too. As for parking, there's a tiny lot, otherwise there's a good amount of free street neighborhood parking all around. It's been awhile since I've updated this review and I owe it to the business to do so. Since I initially left this review, we decided to give it another try and since then have been back, no exaggeration, about 10 times. My initial experience clearly was an outlier, as the service has been wonderful since then. I really enjoy their rotating menu with different pancakes. My kids love this place as well, which is a huge reason for why we keep coming back. I've come to Cafe Flora twice now and both times have gotten the rancho Colorado scramble. This was unintentional but I must say both times they were delicious! I do wish the portion was a tad bit bigger, but getting the potatoes on the side instead of the grits made it much more filling. So if you're looking to fill up more, keep that in mind. Just my annual Cafe Flora appreciation review They continue to make fantastic food and are the first place I take my friends visiting from out of town. Love love love Cafe Flora forever and ever!! On the latest visit, I finally tried something new (so I love the southern platter with biscuits and gravy, sue me!!!) -- the tofu scramble with summer corn, zucchini, and tomatoes was fantastic. A perfect seasonal dish to wrap up summer with! We also had to try the late summer peach crisp, which was excellent. I always love to get donut peaches from Collins Family Orchard at the farmers market, so I knew I had to see what Cafe Flora could transform them into. As usual, it was a busy day, so expect at least a 20 minute wait, but it's always worth it! And now that the Rapid Ride G Line is open, Madison Street is so much more delightful to walk around and explore, so make sure to take your time and visit some of the other small businesses in the area. read more

What a delightful and dillyicious twist to this old breakfast classic. For lunch I had the Rancho Colorado Scramble was oh so savory that I ordered the Asparagus & Nettle Pesto to go for dinner. The service was welcoming and pleasant. Kat gave me a delectable tour of the menu which is why I ordered meals for the day. I ate in an ambiance of healthy, satisfied and happy people. We had a late brunch there and it was delicious. I highly recommend the Lox and it was plenty of food for me and I came hungry. Parking is easy to find and should not be a problem. It can get very busy there so with a larger group, I would try to get a reservation. Wait for 2 wasn't too bad (30min). Staff was friendly. This is such a cute vibe! A lot more spacious inside than it looks from the outside. Went for dinner and got the yam fries and kale artichoke dip for starters. The dip was my favorite! It came with sourdough bread toasted perfectly. The yam fries were a bit soggy, I wish they made it crispier. I also got the asparagus and spring onion risotto. It was an interesting flavor combination but it worked okay together, and the arugula salad that it came with was refreshing. I don't know if I'd get this entree again but it was still good to experience once. My friend got the taco dorados that came with a big helping of greens, beans, and a bunch of other things that filled the plate up. First time at Flora cafe. Went in this past weekend for Brunch, party of 4. The fountains & their wallpapers are so pretty & so on brand with their other location ( Flora Bakehouse ) really cute! What we ordered ( 100.00 before tax + tip ) 2 Strawberry Matcha Latte Cinnamon Roll 2 Cornbread Pancakes Rancho Colorado Scramble Elote Tartine Yam Fries Pancakes were good except the butter/mascarpone cheese that comes with them had an off taste to it. We asked what was added to it and they said they believed a lemon syrup but it tasted more like it had gone bad. Pretty sure an ingredient in there was expired. The strawberry matcha lattes looked cute but needed more sugar to bring more of the strawberry flavor out. The Elote tartine was really good. I would definitely get it again, every element complimented each other well. The scramble was good but basic. Potatoes were good perfect amount of seasoning. Service : Service started off fine, but then it went downhill. We were looking through the menu for a while and our server didn't check in. After we got our food, they did come by once, but then disappeared for a while. We overheard them telling the table next to us that they were going on break, and we didn't get any heads-up. We were left unattended for about an hour. The server covering our section came to introduce themselves shortly after our initial server left on break but by then we were done eating & we were ready for our bill. read more

This has always been my favorite vegetarian restaurant. The food is so flavorful and is truly comfort food, even though it's also full of veggies! Whenever I eat here I truly feel like I'm eating the rainbow but it's DELICIOUS. Their brunch is amazing but there is always a wait and you can't make a reservation. Luckily there is a lovely plant nursery nearby that you can walk around while you wait. I got the scramble with cheesy grits and a side of garlic greens, which was so comforting and delicious. I wouldn't recommend. For starters- there were two hairs in my food. One sitting right on top of the eggs, and another tucked away in the grit. While I am not super particular about hair being in my food (we have animals at home), everything else just lowered my overall impression. The customer service was very poor. We were seated very quickly in the outside patio; however, it took nearly 15minutes for us to be attended by a waiter. The food was quick, but the waiter didn't touch base with us again until 1 hour later after we finished our meal. Some people may prefer being left alone, but we were short on water. The mochi beignets were delicious; however, I hold a special place for the ones in Downtown Disneyland. They are worth the try. The breakfast platter was very bland. The eggs could have used more seasoning. This was my first time trying grits, and my pallet didn't like them. My wife had better food than I did. I went with a couple girlfriends for brunch on a Friday and we all ended up really liking it! It's a really cute restaurant where the main dining space has really pretty wallpaper but we sat in their indoor/outdoor space so it was really bright but covered. We ordered the cinnamon roll to start with and was surprised it came out seemingly cold. It would have been much better if they had warmed it up before serving. Some friends took me here trying to accommodate my vegetarian diet, so very thoughtful and they said it was recommended by their friends. We ordered a few things and shared. We tried the kale dip, risotto, polenta, and the grain bowl. Don't get me wrong, they were all good, but not for the prices. $20-24+ for each entree. I honestly have had better vegan meals for half the price. Everyone had left overs and sometimes I'm just not sure if that's a great thing, lol. The drinks were beautiful, well made, and expensive. WOW! One of the best brunches I've ever had. Their interior is so cute and perfect for a brunch date. We were seated in their airy atrium next to the fountain and lush with greenery. The food was beautiful and tasted amazing. We shared the Rhubarb Ginger Waffle (seasonal, crispy and fluffy in all the right places; pistachio cream was unique and not too sweet) and Biscuits & Gravy with a side of seasoned tofu (a great shareable; rosemary biscuits were a bit dense and dry but the rich mushroom gravy more than made up for it). In response to the person who gave a one star review after a (misrepresented) accident involving a portion of the HVAC equipment on 08/03/25 (which the restaurant, as a tenant, has no direct control over), I will say this. I can understand the frustration of waiting in line then finding the restaurant has to close. But I find the lack of empathy shocking. This was not a minor incident of one person falling. It was significantly more serious and injured several people and created an urgent situation, not to mention a liability for staff and customers alike. It feels like egregious entitlement to put your brunch being inconvenienced ahead of the well being of everyone else. Something I am all too familiar with after 30 years working in retail. I come to Cafe Flora every Saturday and Sunday. I have always had a lovely experience. The staff is professional, courteous, and efficient. The food is consistent and delicious. And the atmosphere is relaxing and laid back. I especially appreciate that they provide the same service and attention to detail to me as a typically solo diner as they do to everyone else. I sincerely hope others do not give credence to that review. My experience has been flawless at Cafe Flora. It's where I go to unwind, and has never disappointed. Very disappointing experience at Cafe Flora. We checked in for brunch at 12 and were told the wait would be 45 minutes. We came back after 50 minutes and they told us they were not seating anyone because someone had fallen inside. I completely understand that accidents happen and I care about the person who fell, but this is a big restaurant. I asked if we could be seated on the other side since we had already waited an hour, but they just said they were in shock. What made it worse was that while refusing us, one of the staff was taking pictures with someone and still handling other guests. That does not look like shock. I politely requested they show some empathy, but they were extremely rude and dismissive. A few other people were also left outside after waiting just like us. This was unprofessional, unethical, and very disappointing. I will never come back here. read more

My first experience here. Our server was perfect. However, the 2 eggs were covered with puddles of yellow oil (not butter), the buttermilk biscuits were very hard and dry - with not nearly enough gravy to cover them. The cinnamon roll ($12) was also very hard and dry. The only thing I enjoyed was the garlicky greens. My friend's pancakes were also dry - and they were provided with only half a miniature pitcher of syrup, which barely covered one pancake (of the 3).
