All this goodness for 15 smackaroos

Kiss kiss for Cafe Du Soleil.... To quote Peter Griffin: "You know what grinds my gears?" When you ought to decide between a savory or sweet brunch dish. Cafe Du Soleil solves this annoying issue. They offer PANCAKES as a side! Genius. They were so beautifully cooked, oh so fluffy and flavorful. I got the pancakes with their bacon tomato benny, what can I say it's a benny I've never had a bad one lol! Their hashbrowns were nicely seasoned with a peppery kick. Service was very pleasant too. Chill workers.

Simple and clean breakfast from a fully vegetarian menu. Nothing complicated here - fresh ingredients, good portion sizes, great prices. Fruit was extremely fresh and the menu options are pretty creative. Cafe du Soleil as I remember it was always a lively, bustling community - hosting events and gatherings constantly. I can imagine COVID has been tough on this classic Commercial establishment. Without the people filling it however, I realized that it's not much to look at. Paint is stripping, there are sparse paintings here and there...I think some efforts to spruce up the interior would do wonders.

Amazing food! Wow their crab eggs Benny is to die for and what do you know I FINALLY found a brunch place that serves FRESH SQUEEZED orange juice! The service lacks a little as the waiter disappeared throughout our whole meal and took awhile to get to us but when they did they were very nice. We didn't mind since they seemed to be a little busy but I definitely think they could've used a third person as a hostesses at the front Regardless, super recommend

Just putting it out there that Cafe deux Soleil is not the same as Cafe du Soleil. With only two letters making a difference in their name, I'm sure there's been confusion. Cafe du Soleil is a cozy little cafe along the Drive. Not very busy on a weekday afternoon, there were only a few other people around who seem to be regulars. They have a great selection of breakfast items including some vegan options as well. I chose to get The Mess. This included spicy cheesy hashbrowns, eggs, and toast. I also added on a wild boar chorizo sausage. This was a pretty filling meal. The cheesy hashbrowns were just alright though. Wish it had a bit more spice and was cheesier. It tasted like it was mixed with some salsa. They did bring some ketchup and hot sauce to our table. So I just added some more hot sauce. Overall, it's a solid breakfast place with reasonable prices and good service.

Cozy little cafe! Yummy food + great service. Been there for brunch and lunch, never disappoints. Love their pancakes and smoked salmon benedict (Too bad I forgot to take the picture).

Food: 4/5 Service:4/5 Not to be mistaken for its two timing counterpart just down the street, Café du Soleil presents a cozier option for your breakfast & brunch needs. All the breakfast staples are here along with vegan options for the more health wary and as far as I could tell every dish comes accompanied with a generous side of hash browns. Eggs were great, toast was great and the bottomless coffee, a nice touch - zero complaints for this comfy café. My only regret is that I never ordered the pancakes.

    Crab Cake Beni

This spot is a hidden gem. They follow COVID protocol and has a bottle of hand sanitizer on each table. The server was pleasant, friendly and professional. I had the crab cake Beni and it was so delicious. The eggs were perfectly porched, the smashed hash potatoes were perfectly seasoned. Food was fresh and delicious! I would definitely go back. The only thing with me is that they only accept cash or debit. That's the only reason I am giving this place a 4 star instead of 5.

Literally verbally attacked during a medical emergency by staff.

On the way in for lunch after a day of shopping on car free day, a party member collapsed with a sudden medical emergency. While attending to them the bald chef came out and said "to what do we owe the honour of your bullshit?" To which I apologized and explained what was going on. He just answered "whatever, just hurry up and get out of here. " So we did, and ate elsewhere, and will never put a penny into this terrible place again.

I forget the name of this dish.. cheesy potato something. Amazing.

This place was so delicious! The service was a teensy bit slow since there was only one guy in his chef whites hosting and serving, but it was completely worth the wait. My cheesy potatoes were ridiculously good and cheesy. Everything was seriously perfect. The coffee was great too and I always appreciate a place that brings cream in a little saucer instead of tiny wasteful plastic cups. My husband also loved his french toast that came with a generous portion of berries in the center. Yum!

As mentioned by other reviewers, this place could be confused with another cafe in the area. My review is for 1393 Commercial drive - Cafe Du Soleil. Amazing place! Great for vegans, too. I have been there on several occasions and this cafe is the best for brunch. It is a family-run business with great service and awesome food. I frankly do not understand why there is no brunch line up at this place. For vegans--try everything on the Vegan menu. Pancakes are fluffy and delicious, tofu scramble is perfect, and veggie sausages are the best I ever tried. If they sold them at stores, I would love to buy them. Pros Vegan options Lovely interior and a nice patio Awesome service Amazing veggie links Cons Wish they did not serve meat but of course it is what it is Cash only

Service was good, friendly. The restaurant is the same as I recall, clean enough. A little cramped and the seating isnt too comfortable. Its really not a good place to hang out for a long time, but rather sit down, eat, and get out type of place. I had the lavender latte and the Tagine this time. Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. If you have to park, then you may find street metered parking or use one of the nearby paid lots.
