Love this cafe's ambiance! Art deco theme is so fun & makes for very comfy sitting areas. This my favorite cafe to work from! Wifi works well and the tables are big enough for a laptop, notebook, and mouse. The coffee is wonderful too. I am not a huge coffee snob, so it's difficult to be bad in my book but I definitely enjoyed my cup of Joe. read more

Fantastic coffee shop by Lincoln Park. The Art Deko is very cool with very comfortable chairs and tables to work at and themey art along the walls. Service was quick and friendly-seemed the entire neighborhood came here and knew the barista. Loved the plush couches and big tables to work at for the day. Really enjoyed the coffee shop vibey music-great selection of popular songs remixed or done with a sultry sound. Coffee was excellent. Just got a couple of regular coffees with oat milk but they have milk alternatives, stevia, and strong coffee, and that's all I need. WiFi was good and there are outlets everywhere. No complaints. I stumbled across Cafe Deko on a bike ride and I am so glad I did! I got a matcha tonic which was so refreshing. I definitely want to come back to bring my laptop and work this spot was very spacious. 10/10 for a cute cafe/ coffee shop in Chicago! Service was great. read more

Loved visiting this cafe during our long weekend in Chicago! The cutest interior. Love the colors. Comfortable seating. Friendly staff. Great options for coffee and non-coffee drinks. Super super cute coffee spot. The decor literally feels like you stepped into the 20's and it's so magical. I ordered an iced chai with a shot of espresso and oat milk. The drink was good but unfortunately for me the price was too expensive for what you got. With tax it came to $7.5 and it was a fairly small iced drink. Though the taste was good it wasn't anything crazy and it's just too expensive for me to return. Staff was very friendly though so if that's in your price point I would recommend! read more

Excellent new addition to the Lincoln Park coffee scene. I am no historian but walking into Cafe Deko feels like taking a step back into the 1920s! The decor is beautiful with lush chairs, bright colors, wood tables and gold accent pieces decorating the shop. The music isn't just a country coffee house playlist you hear everywhere else either, this spot is original and has a vibe of its own. It was about 95 degrees on Wednesday when I went in so I chose a cold brew coffee (no cream or sugar). Usually I like to try the a new spots hot house blend as I feel you can't hide anything and get a true flavor for the shop but this cold brew was great! The cold brew was not too fruity, more nutty with a light toffee finish and the melted ice only added to it! The wifi was speedy too, even with over 15 people who looked like they were using it. I will be back to work, hang out and enjoy the coffee again soon! read more

I stopped in to work for a bit and get something to drink/eat. I absolutely loved the atmosphere - super cute Art Deco themed (makes sense) coffee shop. The seating is gorgeous and comfy, and the decor is just amazing. My lavender honey latte was delicious, as was my asiago bagel. I'm very excited to come back. Really cute neighborhood cafe. I tried the ice honey lavender latter with almond milk, and it was very tasty. The almond milk is $0.60 extra, which is about standard. I also got the butter croissant warmed up, and it was very good -- buttery, light, and flaky. The cafe itself is in the Art Deco style of the 1920's and '30's, which is pretty unique. There is plenty of seating, and the chairs are comfortable. I came in around 11 on a Wednesday, and it was pretty full, with most people on laptops. The music was a bit loud, but fine if you don't find that distracting or put in your own headphones. If with friends, it's not an issue. Staff was also nice and efficient, and would wipe the tables as soon as anybody left, which is nice considering it's Covid times. Vaccine cards are checked if you're planning on staying in. I only knock off a star for the prices; I paid $9 for a latte and croissant, which is a little much, but otherwise it was good and I will definitely return. read more

This is such a chic spot - I love the roaring 20's art deco theme they got going on. The exterior stood out on the corner so I had to check it out. They serve the regular coffee drinks as well as coffee specialties and small bites. I got the 12oz hazelnut latte with oat milk which was great. Came here in early January and currently Chicago isn't allowing any indoor seating. Once indoor seating becomes allowed again I'm definitely stopping by to work from here. What a cool and funky cafe! My little girls and I were exploring the neighborhood for our first day of vacay and stumbled upon this treasure! Love this cute place!! It's got such good vibes, amazing art, plants, and wallpaper, and the baristas are super friendly and kind! The coffee is p good and very cheap for the area. I love sitting down with friends and just catching up. Parking is easy to find and there's Dom's market just across the street if you wanna find something to eat. I've had both the matcha and the coffee and both are super yummy. Would recommend and take a friend here! read more

My previous review was for another coffee shop in the area oops. I got the Iced Honey Lavender Latte with soymilk and half syrup. I really appreciated that the soymilk was not overly strong. I was glad to get half syrup because full might have been far too sweet. I also appreciated that I could taste the coffee pretty strongly. Would recommend :) wifi is not the best but can suffice for work. read more

Super cute place!! Love the interior, had a lot of character that was truly lovely and had care and time put in to create a ~vibe~. Matcha latte was good! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Honey lavender latte was a little lacking in the lavender flavor for me but still enjoyed it. Came on a Sunday and it was busy throughout the day. If you're coming here to study be prepared to wait a little bit as table turnover is not quick (lots of people studying at tables or meeting with a friend). there is a nice little bar area for patrons to get water during their stay. I went to Cafe Deko yesterday after hearing raving reviews about their ~aesthetic~. I can confirm: it was an amazing vibe and a great place to work! The music was a little loud but the chairs were so comfortable and there were plugs virtually everywhere. I paid around $6.50 for my iced caramel latte with almond milk and I enjoyed it immensely. I took a sip and immediately said "mhm!" Definitely would recommend 10/10. read more

The aesthetic of this place is so cute. I think if done incorrectly, the furniture and decoration could've looked really tacky, but everything looked so pretty and nicely put together. I ordered the honey and lavender latte. Honestly, it tasted like a normal iced coffee and was a little too sweet, so for the extra cost of changing the type of milk and total price, I don't think it was worth it. Despite these things, I'd like to come back again because it was a nice work space and maybe I'll try one of their teas next time. read more

I sat down for an hour without getting anything and was waiting on a friend to join me. I got kicked out because I wasn't a paying customer, even after I told them I was waiting for a friend and I would get something when they joined me. She proceeded to come back and asked me to leave, while I was in a work meeting. There's no signs saying anything about waiting on friends to order coffee, so be prepared to pay a pretty penny if you want to wait for a friend. read more

While I usually love coming to this spot and have enjoyed doing remote work here, do not come here if you have any allergy of any kind! I have celiac (severe gluten allergy) and am not able to eat anything within the menu (except for apparently one cookie as I was told). After bringing out a yogurt, I was immediately told by a barista to put it away which is disappointing to hear especially when I have been coming to this place for years, paid for a $9 dollar latte and there are not many coffeeshops that offer gluten free options. read more

I'm on a perpetual hunt to find spaces to study and get good sunlight- this cafe meets my basic requirements and then some. Of all the cafes in Chicago I've visited- this one is one of the absolute cutest: retro style lighting fixtures, dark green velvet chairs, couches, and an overall atmosphere of deco style cafe lounging, I just love it. They also have bakery items and non-dairy milk, which I appreciate. I walked here from my apartment and was so happy to find out they actually were open- the outside would fool you, it's completely disarming especially once you enter. This place was so so cute! It had all the vibes. I would love to come here any day and study. They had some relaxing house music playing & there were a few comfy couches with people working/studying. I got the iced oat milk latte and I asked for just a little bit of caramel in it. I wish I didn't get that in it because I couldn't even taste it but it was still good. I do think the beef could have been a tiny bit fresher and think a more flavorful aioli would have upped the sandwich, but overall it was still tasty and satisfying. I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

For my graduation cake, I chose the tres leches and it was so creamy, moist, and delicious. I basically ate half of the cake by myself lol. This most recent time, I needed a snack and wanted something sweet. Everything here looks amazing and I'm sure tastes amazing too, so it's hard to choose. I chose to get the berry chantilly cake slice since it was a hot day, and it was the perfect refreshing treat! It was soooo good.

They work incredibly hard in an extremely challenging environment and hold true to being vegan and do their best to be sustainable. I love especially their specials, seasonal items, their pop up dinners and classes and art shows. They truly know how to not only have a vegan cafe but get us engaged as a community to help make things better in our own community as well as our country. The service is always personable and caring. The mutual respect and appreciation and believing in what they do is clear. It's a small but mighty cafe with delicious coffee and tea drinks as well as brunch sandwiches, burritos, quiches, bakery goods, savory and sweet offerings and dinner event pop ups. Everything is fantastic and great for vegans or just anyone who wants to go to a local cafe making a difference one tasty item at a time.

After waiting about 30 minutes without much movement, we decided to place an online order instead and return later. Our order was ready between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., so be prepared for a wait during peak hours. The drinks were good, but they didn't particularly stand out to me. I personally preferred the Ube coffee over the tea-based drink. The breakfast sandwiches, however, were the highlight of our visit. They were incredibly flavorful, and the tocino paired perfectly with the other ingredients, making for a delicious and satisfying meal. One thing that could improve the experience would be having a staff member outside providing estimated wait times. Without any updates, it was difficult for guests to know how long the line would take, especially since the restaurant becomes very busy and closes relatively early. From what I could see, the interior looked beautiful, modern, and very clean. Overall, despite the long wait, the food was well worth trying. If you plan to visit, I recommend arriving early or placing an online order to save time.
