Bourbon Toffee

I ordered through ubereats. The food was hot, as they are not far from my house, and the delivery time and fee was low. Apparently I'm their best customer, Ubereats said so! I've ordered from there 5 times! Anyway, the chicken coconut soup was great as usual. I ordered the fisherman's spring roll(not fried) 11.95, but I received the pork egg rolls (fried) 8.95. Instead. It's weird the Uber menu has the fisherman's spring roll, but the menu here on Yelp does not. Thanks for substituting rather than refunding! It would have been a sad dinner of soup and bourbon cake. The egg rolls were very good, just not what I ordered

Thai fried rice

Late Friday afternoon we had the place to ourselves. I had a plan. Saturday morning fried rice breakfast. So with that in mind we ordered big. Crispy mushroom dumplings, chicken coconut soup, house green salad, Penang chicken curry and Thai fried rice. Ah the best laid plans. The dumplings were delicious. Crispy with a sweet pepper sauce was a large appetizer for us. Brought two home. Coconut soup was the best. She loves coconut soup and this cup not bowl was large and wonderful. The salad had crispy noodles on it plus oranges, cucumbers, mango and greens. Don't know what the noodles were but they really add to a salad. Penang chicken curry with a side of rice is my go to Thai dish. Must branch out but why!! Thai fried rice could have used soy sauce but I'll add that tomorrow morning! The staff was a by available and helpful. Both servers were learning and we did have several questions. They got answers quickly and correctly. All in all it was a very tasty meal. We will definitely go again. Give it a try.

not duck egg rolls, that white stuff is mayonnaise, everything looks like it was the left overs at the bottom of the fryer

Delivery-Just poor quality everything was old or burnt or under cooked, items were missing, sticky rice was like the rice you left out and the top was dry and crunchy but the bottom was soggy, it had been a while since their last bad review so I'm updating to make sure you know this place just doesn't care about their product, service or customers

Pak Pad Kapow

After eating at Two Chicks and seeing this place, we made a note to sometime come back. Cafe De Thai is a pretty small cafe. They however have a pretty large menu. Hours can be weird, and we had to come back yet again when they weren't open at lunch. You should try to get here whenever they open to check it out. I noticed a few other reviewers said the hours they're open are screwy, so I know how it feels. One late morning they were finally open. They apparently close in the afternoon now but that's not stated anywhere on the door or its website. Looking over the menu we noticed the food was on the expensive side, but that seems typical of a lot of Thai restaurants around here. The lunch menu is a little cheaper so we picked the right time. It was time for a kind of light lunch. We decided to share an entree to save stomach room, and money. It has a lot of vegetarian items. We got the Pak Pad Kapow. It's $11.50 and is a pretty good amount. This comes with basil, chili peppers, garlic, tofu, and other vegetables. It's pretty spicy but not crazy. The rest of the flavor was good with lots of basil, and it had an amount of sweetness that accompanied the spiciness and made the flavor interesting. Check it out but call ahead. It's a good way of finding out if they're open. They need to fix up the hours problem and then it's all good there.

Weird tomato in curry

This place is really not good. I have had food before that I didn't like and was disappointed with, but this is by far the worst. I don't like to leave bad reviews but this was the worst food I have ordered and am so disappointed that we paid $40 for a meal we couldn't even eat. Our experience started off bad right off the bat. I don't really like meat or tofu in my curry. They have a vegetable curry for 9.95. My boyfriend ordered and asked if they could replace the tofu with some more vegetables and they said yes. After we paid we realized that they charged us $13.95 for my dish because of that??? The MEAT curry that comes with a choice of PROTEIN is 12.95. How is my "extra vegetable" curry more expensive that that? Especially when considering I didn't get tofu? That was whack. My boyfriend got the basil chicken and literally could not eat it because it was so salty. I'm not kidding you this dish was literally inedible. If you think top ramen has a lot of sodium, it's no where near the amount as the basil chicken. Rice does NOT come included with the meal so we ordered it on the side. When our meals came out, the rice was already in the curry. We get Thai a lot and never have I gotten my curry with rice in it. I like to add how much I want to, and I like to be able to take it home for leftovers (not that we wanted to take this home anyway). My "extra vegetable" curry came with a basic amount of vegetables so I don't know what I paid an extra $4 but on top of that, the vegetables are SO WEIRD. My curry came with full mushrooms, they weren't even sliced. And full on cherry tomatoes. Who puts a cherry tomato into a curry. It was a cold tomato in hot curry. What? Our experience was a disaster. Spend your $40+ literally anywhere else (thai lotus is our fave). I would pick frozen Thai food from Trader Joe's over this.

Taro milk tea

After ordering some green curry, shrimp lettuce wraps, and a boba iced drink from Cafe de Thai one night on a food delivery app, I browsed their Yelp reviews to see what others had thought of their offerings. Loving that they were a local Thai restaurant with later-than-typical hours, I was kinda excited to be satisfying a Thai craving so late in the evening. Combing through many of the reviews, I started second-guessing my decision, as so many people seemed to have mediocre or less-than-appealing dining experiences. However, it was too late to turn back, and I was still curious to try them for the first time. When my food arrived, I was happy as usual to take those first delicious sips of my bubble tea - still cold and quite flavorful when it arrived. Then I dug into the shrimp lettuce wrap appetizer, which was tasty. I was a little confused at some of the ingredients, since there were chopped pieces of lemon in my wraps (including the rind?!), but enjoyed the creativity of the dish overall. The vegetarian green curry was yummy, laden with fresh veggies and LOTS (almost too much) cubed tofu. I ate it with the steamed rice provided, and the serving size easily provided me with two meals. Was it my favorite Thai food ever? No. Favorite Thai food in Reno? No, that title has already been won over by Thai Lotus. However, I'm a serious proponent for trying new places and getting out of my comfort zone, and Cafe de Thai fulfilled this goal. Honestly, my favorite part was my Taro bubble tea; however, I'll probably venture out and give Cafe de Thai another try.

The food was beautiful, and the appetizers were amazing. I had ordered yellow curry with chicken as a take home for lunch the next day, my girlfriend ordered the same thing for her entree that evening. When she ordered hers she asked them to add pineapple to it, and we stated multiple times that the pineapple was only to go in hers because I am allergic. Well let's just say that I was shocked when I heated up my lunch and bit into pineapple. I was instantly hit with my mouth going completely numb and my tongue swelling. Not to the point of needing to bust out the epi-pen at least. But scary none the less. So while I am sure the food would have been amazing it was not something I could have. If you have food allergies I would not suggest this restaurant.

Kristin R.

Very pleasant experience here for lunch. Quiet ambience, delicious food, quick service, and a great location!! Really loved the yellow curry the best!

Their pad thai and chicken angel wings are superb - love their coconut cake - we will come back for their boba selection

Blue crab chowder

Last night I accidentally ordered from Café de Thai, and was so pleasantly surprised! Now the reason why I say it was an accident, is because for some reason I thought I was ordering from Thai Corner Café. I was slightly confused LOL. So when I noticed the food coming from next to Chuy's and Two Chicks, I realized my mistake. Yet, I am sooo down for trying new places, and Pad Thai is one of my favorite dishes. I've tried a few places in town and narrowed my favorite down to Thai corner. So I was actually really excited to get to try a new place. Delivery through Uber eats was painless and the delivery driver was fast. I'm so glad they are staying open for To-Go and deliveries, during this terrible pandemic. My pad Thai was amazing. Shrimp, chicken and tofu. Bean sprouts, peanuts...everything you could want. It was not overly sauced which I have had happen before. I'm a fan of a bit of a dryer Pad Thai, and not so much a saucy one. This was perfect. I asked for " extra extra extra limes" and they delivered!!! They gave me so many limes I was in lime heaven!! The Thai iced tea was everything I needed it to be in that moment. Now, the website does say that they deliver it to you with ice on the side...but this came all together. Either way it was delivered very fast so it wasn't melted. My least favorite thing was the soup. Now don't get me wrong, I love crab...and the crab in the soup was amazing. But I don't know about that broth. It was described as chowder but it didn't taste like chowder. it kind of just tasted like milk. There were big chunks of onion I believe in there which I don't like... and there was a very very small amount of cilantro. Just needed more, more herbs, more spices, more something. Although I have a feeling that's how it is supposed to be...a very minimalist soup. I've had other Thai milk-based soups and wasn't a fan of those either so maybe it's just me. Otherwise everything was EXACTLY what I needed. Comforting food to help ease the stress of the current situation. Can't wait to order more Pad Thai, and honestly I really dig this pad Thai more than the others in town now because it comes with both chicken and shrimp for a really good price!

Love the spicy spice!

Sleek simple seating and bar seating. The lunch curry plate special that has curry, rice, salad and corn fritters is served all on one large plate. Since I was sharing with Mr Bland, I got no spice. Server brought a 3 spice selection of condiments for my bites. Very fragrant curries.

Thai restaurants seems to be ubiquitous in Reno, especially along Virginia St. I happen to be near mid town district, and decided to give Cafe de Thai a try. It near Chuy and 2 chicks. Every Thai dish I've tried are flavourful and delicious. I wish their is a little more variety on their lunch menu. I ordered Pad Thai, few varieties of curries, and boba drinks, and extra limes and they delivered. My orders are to go, Walking into the restaurant, it's provided great atmosphere, staff member is very welcoming and friendly. I believe her name is Kai. The food is good size portions. Based on the menu I saw, their cocktails looks creative and sounds delicious. But I didn't order any cocktails. I have no complaints. I would recommend this place.

chicken and rice in a plastic container
Jayem D.

Ordered on doordash and they filled all the containers up only half way. I'm not full from the food I ate. They even skimped on the rice only putting half in there. Will not be ordering from here again. I got yellow curry and it tastes good but they served very little and I'm not even close to being full. The Pad thai is very bland, it looke like they didn't even put sauce on it. Definitely NOT worth the money.

This place really stands out for both the quality of the food and the authenticity of the flavors. The dishes taste fresh and homemade, with the kind of balance of spice, sweetness, and flavor you expect from real Thai cooking, not watered-down versions. The curries are rich and flavorful, the noodle dishes are excellent, and the spice levels are done right if you like authentic heat. Our waitress Nid was great, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and the service is friendly and welcoming. I then had to fight to flag a waitress to ask for chili paste to get any heat in my entire dish. I like that there are veggies with it and the noodles have a good chew, but I've found zero dishes with anything near Thai spices here My partner got the pad thai, which was sickly sweet yet didn't taste like tamarind, fish sauce nor contain pickled veg. The wood ear in it was excellent, but I've never seen it in pad thai. The thai ice tea was good, maybe a bit heavy on sweetener. I don't understand the high ratings here, based pireh on food. Thai Chili has far better flavors, and is rated lower. The wait staff/food runners lacked politeness, and never checked if we enjoyed our food or needed anyone. Sans the person filling everyone's water, we were never checked on in any other capacity. The restaurant was a cacophony of noise and conversation, I had to lean across the booth to have any chance of hearing my companion. The noise level is overwhelming if you have sensory issues at all. The decor is pretty cool.

Everything we had was top notch, with a couple of things being absolutely outstanding. Best of the night were the Curry Puffs, dipped in there insanely excellent peanut sauce (not too sweet and almost like a hint of chili oil) The Springs Rolls were a close second and my Mango Curry dish sparkled. It's been about 4 years since the last time, I tried the food here and since I was hosting about 10 people at my home, I wanted to serve something simple and cost effective. My goto for this is Chinese food. I ordered chicken chow mein and stir fried mixed vegetables. It came in two trays and enough from probably closer to 15 people. So portions were good but the total bill was between $120-$130 about what I've come to expect here in Reno. Let's just say, I've traveled to several countries in Asia and lived most of my life in Northern CA eating quite a bit of Chinese food. This doesn't make my an expert but it would be fair to say, I am quite familiar with what is considered mainstream traditional Chinese cooking. But let's get to the food, with the caveat that I realize that everyone's preferences can vary widely when it comes to food. So my opinion is based on what one would find in Hong Kong and San Francisco. The chicken chow mein had all the correct ingredients, long noodles that were slightly thicker than say spaghetti, had the correct amount of softness without being mushy. Chicken was presented in slices and appeared to be white meat, there was some white onions thrown in there for some texture and flavor. Normally when I order chow mein, it isn't served with a brown "gravy". Not that this dish was swimming in it, but think of spaghetti with tomato sauce. Replace the red with medium dark brown and you get the picture. Now my guests who are Reno locals, thought it was great and flavorful. I would agree with the flavor part but it was much too saucy for my tastes. Would I try Chin Chin again for noodles? I'm not sure but the owner did state, they can make dishes any way I like, so perhaps I'll order off menu next time. The stir fried mixed vegetables is where I was most disappointed. Let's start with the ingredients. All were sliced in 2-3 inch pieces, which included button mushrooms, zuchinni, bamboo shoots, brocolli, carrots, and onions. This dish could have passed for a savory vegetable stew. There was a lot of gravy, so much so, that it colored all the vegetables brown, except for the carrots. The sauce had a slight "twang" to it, almost vinegar or worchester-like. Not my thing, I could not taste the individual flavors of the vegetables because of how heavy the sauce was. The brocolli was over cooked where the flowerette parts were pale. I prefer my vegetables to be just cooked, almost snappy. I would not order this dish again. No comments on the restaurant itself as both times I tried it, was for take out. So bottomline, would I try Chin Chin again? Yes but I will be very specific on how I would like my order prepared. Maybe for their lunch special.
