Checked out Cafe de La Olla on a weekday because I didn't want to deal with weekend crowds. I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados with the steak and the iced cafe de la Olla. Delicious! Did not disappoint. Chilaquiles were not soggy. Cafe de Olla was not too sweet. It was just right. Didn't have to anything to my cafe. Our waitress was so attentive; always making sure we had refills, enough napkins, checked back for on us. It was great. The ambiance was nice. Felt like I was in my Tia's kitchen. The service was okay. I asked for a table for 5 people and one child a total of 6. They wanted to sit us all in a booth they did not want to sit us in a table because it was reserved for another party we had to have a chair put at the end of the table. The food was okay. Two of the plates came out cold and the rice was hard. The server took the plates and remade them by the time they came out again the rest of us had already finished our food. A great way yo be greeted with a large pan dulce table side. The service was friendly and prompt. We were craving breakfast and Cafe De Olla did not disappoint. I had the poblano omelette, stuffed w/mushrooms, onions and topped with a flavorful poblano sauce, and a side of fruit (I skipped the bread since I had shared a pan dulce). My kiddo had the chorizo with papas and homemade corn tortillas, she raved over the dish. The coffee was robust and freely flowed. We had been meaning to stop at CdeO and so glad we did. The cafe de olla is definitely unique if you have never had cinnamon coffee, it requires no sugar unless you like extra sweet drinks. I thoroughly enjoyed the coffee. Breakfast was good too, pancakes were cooked to perfection with the right fluffiness. The turkey sausage was really good and you can tell it's homemade. This place is great! The cafe interior is modern and beautiful. Atmosphere is chill and cool and the staff is also really friendly. There's a wait time about 30 to 45 minutes but it worth the wait. The food is pretty good, some mexican classics along with some twists, and for their prices it's 100% worth it. I tried their cafe de olla. We ordered the el paisano omelette - since I wanted a taste of my partners food we had the tomatoes onions on the side as well as the sauces. The green & red sauce are the star of the dish. The machaca inside the el pasaino was noticeably salty & a tad bit overcooked. The Banella (banana & Nutella) pancakes looked great but unfortunately were served lukewarm. Came here with my girl friends for brunch. This place is so good. The crunchy French toast was nice and fluffy and I love that it had a nice crunch to it. I got the cafe de olla it is so flavorful if you like cinnamon flavor. Service was excellent and staffs are so nice here. The place is very chill and they don't rush you or push you to leave. Also they push out bread cart before you get your meal and then a dessert cart after you finish your meal. So save some room for bread and dessert. Public parking was available a block away from the restaurant. Waited to be seated for about 15 mins not bad at all. While we waited we purchased the famous cafe de olla, restaurant signature drink and a few pastries. All the employees were very helpful and friendly. The prices are affordable and they plates are served GENEROUSLY (just look the pics). Both Mexican and American food are available which is great specially for those with kids. Decided to visit the Monrovia location as the waitlist at the Burbank location was closed. This location is definitely more accessible in terms of parking, seating and to-go orders, but I do always miss the coziness and hospitality at the Burbank one. HOWEVER, the food is still on point. I always get the chilaquiles poblanos, and they are the best anywhere. I always compare chilaquiles to these ones- crunchy, and that delicious, perfectly spicy sauce. Had my usual 4 cups of cafe de olla, also the best anywhere and hope to replicate it at home some day, and left with a full belly and wide smile. Til next time! read more

Starting, the service was good, and they tried to be as attentive as they could. The cafe de olla, which they are known for, was super sweet, way too sweet for my taste, so I ended up switching it out for an iced latte which was super good. I got the steak and eggs, and they had a great taste. My sister had the chilaquiles poblano's, and the sauce on the chilaquiles was perfect. Overall our experience was great. I loveeeeeee this spot!!! The food is perfect EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. The in house whip cream is AMAZING! I always get breakfast, no matter what time of day it is because the whip cream is THAT good! They have pan dulce and pastries. They have fresh squeezed orange juice. It can get super packed as the day goes on. Parking can be a bit challenging sometimes. Still worth it though. I believe every restaurant that offers breakfast should know when to make a fresh pot of coffee. We were informed that they could not dump out old cold bitter coffee until the pot is finished. So my mother was given the option to accept a cold cup of old decaf coffee or they could microwave it into a hot bitter cup of old coffee. That was the beginning of our brunch journey. At this point my expectations began to drop. When my nieces soggy waffle arrived with frost bite potatoes I was horrified. The look in her eyes solidified that we would never return to this restaurant. No one in my party enjoyed their food. Nothing was fresh or spiced well. I want to believe that we came on a bad day. I read the other reviews and wondered if management was different before. Came here last minute to appease my mom's breakfast appetite, she really wanted crepe but waffles, French toast, and pancakes were okay he available options so you know it had to be waffles. Their chicken tortilla soup was a bit salty but everything else was great. Lack of meat in their machaca dish was a real disappointment. My g/f first comments when seeing her meal served was that the meal looked like something she would get at a cafeteria, especially, referring to how the rice was served. And I'm sorry but the Cafe de Olla that they served was not great. The taste indicated that there was way too much cloves and very lacking on the cinnamon. Maybe it was just a bad batch that day so I may go back and try another cup later just to give them the benefit of the doubt. The one positive there was their pan dulce was great. read more
