Love me a good authentic Mexican brunch spot. Wait time to this place is usually around 1 hour on the weekend so do come in expecting a wait! I've never tried their dinner menu and would probably stick to coming here for breakfast/early lunch. Do order: Chilaquiles Divorciados - We request eggs sunny side up with some queso fresco = perf combo. Cafe de Olla - Unlimited refills!!! Molletitos - If I could I would marry this dish. It's basically a French roll cut in half with beans, pico de gallo, guacamole and I'd highly recommend requesting Chorizo on top. Tortillas - made fresh by the minute. As your walking into the restaurant you can see a worker making them the authentic way from scratch! Green salsa - heavenly and not too spicy. Definitely put your name on the Yelp waitlist if you plan to eat here! I put my name down for 4 pp on Sunday at 9am at home, and we were finally seated a little after 10:30am. The workers are all very friendly here and they will explain to you the menu and suggest a few favorites. They also have a pastry cart with different kinds of concha Mexican bread. We couldn't help ourselves and shared 3 of those. Our group agreed that the one with cake texture and jam in the middle was the best one. For my entree I eventually decided on the tomato cream suizo chilaquiles. Our group also ordered omelette de la casa, all-in-one burrito, very berry French toast, and a chilaquiles divorciados. Everyone enjoyed the brunch and we had tons of leftovers of course. The only weakest link was the breakfast burrito which hubby was very disappointed. It was dried and we've definitely had better breakfast burrito elsewhere. Also note that the chilaquiles are not good the next day, so if possible share that entree or finish in one sitting! Came here on a Sunday brunch with the family. It's a small chain Mexican brunch restaurant. It's reminds me of cafe Monarca if it was an actual restaurant. They're pan dulce are delicious, the coffee de olla is so addicting and I personally don't drink coffee. Haha but it's black sweet Mexican coffee. The good The food is delicious. Ordered the steak and eggs, the Verde soup and the scrambled eggs with hang and veggies. Most of the items are good. Down side: It's tucked in lovely old town Monrovia meaning the prices are a little expensive but for the taste and service you get what you're paying for. I have had breakfast here so many times, ordered different things from the menu and have never been disappointed! I have tried items from the healthier menu and the regular menu they have. Their cafe de olla is amazing both hot or iced! My favorite thing on the menu is the chilaquiles I will get it every single time no matter what! Service is always fast and very nice. This newly opened restaurant has tons of great desserts to try! Located in between Stix Rideshop and Grey and Cash, this restaurant has tons of options for desserts as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. My husband ordered a machaca breakfast burrito and I opted for treats. I got the guava pie, cafe tres leches, and the berry tres leches. Now, tres leches in general is one of my favorite desserts. I loved that they had a variety of different tres leches cakes to try! Everything we had was delicious and we would definitely try this place out again. The restaurant was packed on a Sunday morning, which is normal. Waited for our table. It was dirty. Lots of noise, lots of people inside, too many tables for one area. I would've have given it a 5 star if it had not been for the rude service at the end. When we first got there we were told that it's an 1 hour 15 min limit to eat your meal. Didn't realize we should have set an alarm on our phone. As we finished our meal and were gathering our belongings to leave, the hostess came over and told us we needed to leave as we had exceeded the time limit by 15 minutes. It felt very rude especially as she already saw we were heading out to leave. Also during our meal, our waitress had taken her lunch break. I think it could have definitely been communicated better without feeling like we were being kicked out. We were there for my friend's birthday. They were so delicious! Right amount of spice not too spicy. Amazing flavor! These are honestly the best chilaquiles I've ever had. Even the beans are so good with the white rice as well. White rice has lots of flavor and honestly the whole dang plate is delicious not just the chilaquiles. Definitely recommend! Yum!! I found this place through Tik Tok and I knew I needed to check it out because I love a good authentic Mexican breakfast. I started off with an iced cafe de olla and it was delicious! As for our food, we got Sweet Temptation French Toast and the Del Antojo. The French toast was so soft, fluffy and sweet! I would highly recommend putting yourself on the waitlist prior to arriving because we did need to wait an hour or so to be seated. Other than that, I enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be returning to more of their delicious plates. read more

I AM SOO HAPPY THAT THERE'S A LOCATION LITERALLY LESS THAN 10 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE! This place is one of my favorite place for breakfast and lunch. I've been to their original location in Burbank and let me tell you, this place can get busyy! But now I don't need to drive since there's one near me! This location is bigger and has booth seatings which a plus for whenever things go back to normal. Also, I digged that this location has a dessert bar which has many delicious dessert for you to choose from compared to the Burbank location. My boyfriend and I ordered burgers for lunch and had a picnic at the Monrovia Public library which had tables nearby since it was a beautiful day outside. He ordered the double cheeseburger. I got Caro's burger which contained 1/4 IB, bacon, avocado, grilled mushroom, grilled onion, cheese, thousand island dressing and lettuce. The burger was super moist and flavorful. Let me tell you, this burger was very fulfilling. For dessert, I order guava pie (pay de Guayaba) which contained sliced guava pieces and creamy cheese filing. It was delicious. We were kicked out.  My friend and I came to have breakfast. Apparently there is a 75 minute time limit. We were not aware of this as the QR code and notice were obscured by our menus and later by our food and drinks.  After we had been there for a while, the server brought us our bill and said "we're going to need your table in a couple of minutes." In essence, we were told we needed to leave.  We still had food on our plates and there were no other patrons waiting.   It would've been nice if we would have been told of their time limit when we were seated. They can also make their sign more obvious seeing as the small notice on the table can be easily obscured and missed.   I won't be coming here again. I don't want to rush to eat and the food is mediocre.  Casa Jimenez is where you want to go if you want authentic Mexican food. read more

Visited this cafe for breakfast on a weekday and the ratings for this place are representative. I've only tried a few of the breakfast plates but they were all very good. The staff are friendly and this place was also clean. The area is a very interesting place since it's part of Old Town Monrovia and it's filled with mom and pop stores that you usually don't see anywhere else, it's definitely worth the trip just to check out the businesses that surround this restaurant. Parking is a bit challenging on the weekends especially friday and saturday night. If you do visit during this time expect to park a little out of the way since it's mostly street parking. I wouldn't park in the designated lots for the larger plazas since they are pretty strict. read more

This spot is beyond delicious! The Mexican food is authentic and tastes just as if abuelita made it. The restaurant is really clean and has a decent amount of seating. Anytime before 8:30am on the weekends rarely has a wait. Anytime after 8:30am, you're guaranteed a wait.... But it's so worth it! My favorite dish is the Chilaquiles with Poblano sauce add carne asada Also, anything from the pan dulce cart is 10/10. read more

I love this place! Highly recommend you put yourself on the wait list to get ahead of the line. Depending on the day, you may have a minimum of 30-45 minute wait. Great service and ambience. While you wait for your food, you'll be pleasantly surprised with a variety of bread to choose from. Of course, don't forget to order their slicks Cafe de Olla! We had lunch at this establishment yesterday. We arrived at about 10:45 in the morning. There were two other tables outside. Our server sat us down and i didn't know what to drink at first so she had to leave and come back. We did wait quite a bit of time for the server to return. At that point we both ordered and begin to wait for our food. We noticed a few other tables get sat and the server talking with them. After about 10 minutes they got their drinks but I still did not get mine. Also it appeared that the server had not even gone in to put our order in yet. In her defense I felt like from the gecko it was may be her first time as a server. She did not seem very experienced nor could she answer any questions and didn't have that I'm a pro server personality. My hubs had his soda which I had to stop him from guzzling because I noticed that his cup was filthy. It had what looked like dried broccoli all over the inside. My drink I chose the café dell Ola which according to their menu is a Mexican way of brewing coffee with cinnamon sticks and some spices. It came out in a small mason jar type mug with like a heavy cream or milk on top. I've never had one before and it was a little different and not quite sweet at first but the more I drink it the more I liked it. I would definitely take one of these to go for a morning drink. We finally got our food after about 30 minutes. My husband ordered an omelette and it looked decent. You could tell though that it sat out because the eggs were a little dry and the french fries were not hot. Toast was supposed to come on the side and it did not come for another five or six minutes. He said that there was plenty of bacon inside of it and the avocado on top was fresh. The sourdough toast was also good and not over cooked. I ordered a veggie sandwich. I wanted no mayo I did add pesto sauce (for an up charge) and I specifically asked if the sandwich was pressed and I was told yes. My sandwich came out not pressed and slathered in mayonnaise. Our server did not return to check up on us but I waved down another one who I complained about my order being wrong to. My plate was taken away and I sat to wait again. My husband finished up his meal and another server came out noticing I still had not gotten my order back. A few minutes longer and the manager came out. At least I think it was the manager he did not introduce himself but he did apologize for the order being wrong and the wait for a replacement and offered if there was anything that could be done. I told him just wanted my food because we had to leave in soon to pick up my kids at school. And he said he would get it boxed up to go. Also offered me a dessert and made some suggestions. I chose one and he said OK. It took another almost 15 minutes for my food to come out. The dessert was packaged to go with a big hair on the bag which was awesome. But my sandwich was on the plate. There was also a small hair on there but I just brushed it off. The good news was there was no mayonnaise but it was still not pressed. I was very happy that the food was hot including the french fries which were delicious at that point. Before the server could leave I asked him to bring me a box because we had to go. Upon receiving the bill I obviously did not get charged for my dessert but I was charged for the sandwich which was wrong and took forever and that even charged me the extra 1. 35 for the pesto. Maybe it's just me but generally if I have a pretty big error in the order or in this case where it was wrong, it took a ridiculous amount of time to get my food and I couldn't even eat it there I think it should've been comped. Overall the restaurant was not busy. Sometimes you got to understand if there's a big weight because there's a lot of people eating at once. There were four tables total and at least two servers walking around. We were there for an hour and 20 minutes to have an omelette and a sandwich on white bread. The food wasn't bad especially when it was hot. But the service was pedestrian and the amount of hair or dirty dishes made me feel like it wasn't super clean although it did not have that outward appearance. The manager was very kind and I thought he did the right thing by coming over to us but overall I probably wouldn't go back because of this experience. read more
