Food is good but don't order coffee. Tastes like mud. Love the outdoor seating on a nice day.

Food has been great. If I had any constructive feedback on the food, it would be that some dishes are consistently way too oily (example, fish). Overall, we had viewed this restaurant as a very positive addition to Arlington. The real problem that me and my friends have is the woman (seemingly the manager or owner) who's behavior towards customers comes across a little too abrasively. One shouldn't feel scolded for patronizing a restaurant (not quite "Soup Nazi" level, but you get my drift). Has happened enough times to enough people that it merits a review warning you that it's not just you. Good luck. read more

So for starters, this is maybe the best burger you will get in the DMV. Exceptional! Other strong points, the buildout and overall vibe are fresh, contemporary brasserie and nicer than anything else on Langston in Arlington - way to go Collins team. Only knock is the menu is laser focused accessible lux French. One or two down the middle adds for the average bear - a signature salad with your choice of protein, etc. create more consistent visits. For example, had a lunch meeting and my guest only felt comfortable with the burger. read more

What a fantastic Lunch. Cafe Coleen is superb. There was nothing that could been better. Service. Not perfect by uplifting Food-I could find Nothing Wrong. Place is cute with a French bistro feel. The pork chop was well prepared with a delicious sauce. The sea bass was also tasty. French onion soup wasn't hot and overall so-so. The place is very expensive and has a rigid seating policy with fixed dining windows. The hostess was rude and aggressive literally kicking us off our table, which I could almost live with if it wasn't the result of a slow and distracted wait staff. If your policy (stated on the menu) is a set dining duration, then have your house in order and serve the meal in timely fashion. At these prices, you have to do better all around. read more

We finally tried this amazing neighborhood restaurant and were so impressed! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. Our reservation was on the later side, but we were able to dine outside (something we felt most comfortable about, due to COVID). We ordered mussels, chicken, and onion soup. The potatoes dauphin that accompanied the chicken was a real favorite: so rich and creamy. Portions were larger than I would have expected. We did save room for dessert, and I'm so glad: the chocolate hazelnut pot du creme was one of the best I've ever had and the perfect way to end an excellent meal. We will be back! read more

Very incompetent service and you have to pay for it!! On Thursday evening, August 24th, my wife and I had dinner here to celebrate our 49th anniversary. Fortunately, we were able to get a table on the outside deck in back, just walking in around 5:45 pm. The restaurant is very small, has an upscale vibe and a very short, but interesting, menu. The restaurant appears to be very popular with local Arlington residents. And the food was quite good. My wife had the sea bass and I had the mussels and a salad. But unfortunately, the service was terrible. To start, a young woman who seated us asked us if we wanted water- sparkling or still. The water never came. Then we were given menus by a second young female wait staff and she asked us if we wanted water. We told her we were already asked. But most unfortunate, the young woman providing the menus never told us about the special dishes of the evening. We only learned about those when we over heard a table next to us getting the explanations from an older woman, possibly the manager or owner after we had eaten. Then the same older woman came over to us and asked us a third time if we wanted water!! She finally directed one of the younger women to get us some water, which was served shortly thereafter, finally!! Then when our dishes were served, the server did not know who was to get what. We had to direct them. We also had two more dishes that they attempted to serve to us, that were not our orders, but belonged to another table. The young women wait staff seemed confused and inexperienced. Only the older woman seemed to know how to do things, but then even she tried to deliver the wrong dishes to the table next to us. It was a bit of an on-going comedy. Finally, our lemon cake dessert was served, but the young woman delivered it sans forks. We sat there staring at the cake until the young woman brought out two giant soup spoons with which she expected us to eat a cake. We objected and had to ask for forks, which turned out to be large main course dinner forks, not smaller dessert forks. Oh my.....! Now I normally wouldn't be so emphatic about the poor service, but here is the reason.....the restaurant automatically charges a 20% mandatory service fee or tip. And the bill even suggests adding more - an "extra tip". The menu makes this clear and the bill automatically includes the 20% tip. I normally would leave a 20% (or more) tip for outstanding service, but what we experienced was far from that. Since it was our anniversary, and we were having fun, I decided not to challenge the automatic 20% tip, and we departed. read more

If you're an Arlington local who loves French fare, you MUST check this new restaurant out. The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere inside was cozy and intimate. Loved the modern decor too! I can definitely tell the head chef here knows what he is doing and I really look forward to coming back here to dine again. They offer brunch on Fridays and weekends too which I'm very excited to try! Our server, Adam, was very kind and accommodating, making our dining experience that more enjoyable! Prices were also quite reasonable considering the quality of the food and decent portion size. read more

Cafe Colline - Bucatini Provençal (the sauce was delicious and so flavorful) - French Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

The worst service ever endured considering your "exit" fee demands an automatic 20% gratuity. We were not even offered the complimentary french bread during our cocktails. My experience while at Cafe Colline was hurry up, spend as much as you can quickly and then get the "h" out of here so that someone else can have your table. The menu was sparse and not exactly what I call a French cuisine. Very lacking in traditional offerings. Overall a very bad experience. read more

Love love love. I've done take out a number of times and it was great. I finally did dine in last weekend with my mom and sister and it was amazing. My salmon was probably the best salmon I've ever had. My sister loved her steak and my mom really enjoyed her salad. The sommelier recommended a delicious Pinot Noir that we'll have to have again. The environment is sweet and welcoming. If you have a celebration/special occasion, this is the place to go. The food is high end and the service is very warm. The price point is reasonable given the high quality. They're going to be popular as the world opens up post-pandemic so I'll make sure to make a reservation in the future. read more

This is a great place for an occasional date night. The ambiance is very lively and the tables are close together. Service was very attentive, minus front desk reception, who seemed almost confused as to why we were standing in the lobby of the restaurant. We started with the goat cheese appetizer, which was lovely. The main of the bucatini was interesting but maybe a little dry. What I dream of is the desserts. The riz au lait is outstanding. I also loved the pot de crème. read more

Cute place in north Arlington. Food is good. Biggest issue for me is that they add gratuity to every check -- I've seen 5+ people have a gratuity added -- but we were two people. It wasn't mentioned. We didn't see it and it resulted in us adding an additional 25% - so server received 45% from us. That was a but much and I feel they this practice should only apply to larger parties or at least be more clearly called out. Will have to consider if we return. Beware of this on your check. read more

We were so excited to try Cafe Colline. We did a carry out/pick up order. All the items we ordered were included. The food looked great. But it was Way, way, way to salty. I had a sandwich and my wife had pasta. We had gotten the take out for a birthday celebration and had waited for our special Occasion to try it. We will give them another try as I know they are kinda new ... hoping some of the salt goes away. read more

Love this restaurant. Menu items are well thought out and well prepared. I like the salmon, the chicken and the duck (not an easy dish to get right). I understand the beet salad is good for those who like that. Drink menu has interesting choices and wine selections are very solid. Staff is friendly and efficient. Ambiance is cozy and cute - outdoor area is enjoyable when it's not horribly hot or rainy. This is a find. read more

Excellent service, classics like French onion soup done well. House pate is excellent, a mixture of chicken and pork served with whole mustard. Asparagus salad with fried egg is also very tasty. Like being at a French brassiere. read more

Let me start by saying we have been to Cafe Colline 4 times prior to this incident and have truly enjoyed the food and atmosphere but this will be our last time visiting this restaurant. For the record four of us we spent close to $600 for dinner, drinks and wine on Friday evening and were treated quite poorly as a result. We arrived on time for our reservation, ordered drinks and our first course. Before the appetizers were delivered the manager, Debra, rushed over to our table and said "have you ordered your entrees yet? If not, I can take them now. Your not ready to order?"in a flippant tone. When the waiter returned with our first course we placed our entrees. By the time we got to dessert with new glasses of wine and before we finished eating the dessert the same manager rushed over with our checks. We were definitely feeling pressured to finish and leave because Debra's friends who she greeted at the door with hugs and kisses wanted the window seat table we were sitting at. If the restaurant had alerted us at the onset that we had a time limit (which they did not) it would be understandable and we would have done our best to fit within that timeframe. The four of us were parents enjoying a night out without kids and therefore were not rushing, especially when continuing to order food and drink! I then spoke to Debra, the manager, and even offered that the four of us would move to the bar. In return she was met with an uncomfortable tone and pressure. Despite incredible food we are never returning to this restaurant - you just don't treat customers who are willing to spend money this way. The front of the house ruined the entire experience. read more

Finally got to try this local restaurant and was blown away! The decor is subtle and classy gold tones, dim lighting, white marble bar and kitchen counters, and dark herringbone wood floors. The service was friendly from the front of the house to the server to the cook. Most importantly, the food was impeccably crafted. I tried the potato crusted salmon (I don't normally order salmon at restaurants because I find it never wows me and I can cook it fairly easily at home), which was served with hen of the wood mushrooms, a light burre blanc lemon sauce, and wilted spinach. It was delicious. The steak frites was also a total stand out! The steak was a strip steak but ate like a filet! So tender and perfectly cooked. They managed to get an amazing crunchy sear on the outside and a tender medium rare on the inside. So impressed all around and definitely recommend a stop in to Cafe Colline. read more

I am very glad I found this place. It's a cute little French restaurant that has a great brunch menu. We got liver pate and salmon toast. Both dishes were great. Would love to come back for dinner soon! read more

As always, the food and service are both quite good. The restaurant is cozy and inviting and the staff exceptionally welcoming. You will not go wrong with the salads or the fish soup. Mussels are great as is the steak too. As for the hamburger / cheeseburger, while it is good, it would be better if the chefs used less cheese and a smaller / thinner hamburger bun. The bread is pretty thick and overpowers the burger. Aside from that, food is exceptional. read more

"Do what you gotta do buddy." - That's what a Cafe Colline employee said to me as he handed over my take-out bag containing burgers and fries, 30 minutes after the order was promised. This is the third time Colline has been 25+ minutes late with an order. Sounds like habitual incompetence, but he blamed it on a computer problem. Right. "Do what you gotta do buddy?" I guess I gotta find another restaurant that can produce a decent, but very average greasy burger and bag o' fries. Shouldn't be that hard. read more

We are looking for a go to spot that has the trifecta of ambience, service and great wine and food. Café Colleen has two out of the three. They have a great vibe, wow the booths for two near the kitchen were so fun! Plus, the service is always good. Last night the wine was nice but unfortunately, the food kept disappointing! It was our third visit and we were bummed that it was not consistent. Our server was nice, great table and setting nice glass of wine but we didn't love our meal. So sad! The house salad with a generous amount of delicious butter lettuce was soggy last night and it was over dressed with the tarragon vinaigrette. Such a disappointment from our expectations. The beet salad was OK, but maybe because it was a Monday, veggies just weren't that fresh. I don't know! We then ordered bread to comfort us and it was not remarkable in anyway! So if you're a person who loves a restaurant with a consistently good salad and bread this is not the place for you. The salmon entree was the winner of the night! The crispy potato crust and moist salmon with those mushrooms and spinach was all divine! The sea bass was good, but my husband preferred my salmon so we shared. We're going to keep looking for the trifecta but most importantly, consistency in food quality. read more

Loved this place! Went to celebrate my 50th birthday with my spouse after hearing & reading great reviews. We both ordered starters (one salad & one cheese plate, both fresh & delicious) and main entrees (one duck and one steak, both fantastic), and shared a chocolate hazelnut dessert. We left stuffed and completely content. The service was spot on... attentive, helpful and low-key. The ambiance was perfect too... warm, stylish, French feel yet calm and relaxing. It was a Wednesday evening and every table was full, only a few free spots at the bar. Glad we had a reservation. We'll definitely return, perhaps with family and friends next time. read more

Cafe Colline is a hidden gem in north Arlington. The service is excellent and the food is outstanding. Love their seasonal cocktail menu. Portions are "American sized" and easily shareable. Advance reservations are highly recommended. Can't wait to return! read more

The food was excellent. The place has a great vibe. The service was wonderful. Everyone was so friendly. I will definitely be back.

The Washington area has several outstanding French restaurants. Cafe Colline is not one of them. It's not even an "Americanized" style of French food, serving bland dishes that lack the nuance, spices, flavors, and quality of international cuisine. It's a disappointment, in my view. read more

SALTY SALTY SALTY. That's all this chef knows what to use. I ordered the onion soup and I could not believe how much salt was in the broth. Had to return it. I got the bucatini, and again, a ridiculous amount of salt in this dish! Had to return it back to the kitchen. I pretty much didn't eat dinner. what the heck Is the kitchen staff doing? I was really disappointed and our waitress didn't seem to care. She was robotic and just said sorry, would you like dessert? Seriously, what makes you think I want to eat more of this disgusting food? She proceeds to give us a check adding 20% gratuity based off of the total amount INCLUDING the dishes I returned, rather than gratuity off of the actual amount charged (which excluded the returned dishes). She is entitled, sneaky and genuinely is out to get tip instead of truly caring about the patrons and the reputation of the restaurant. I asked to remove it and I still gave 15%. The staff has lost their way - doesn't remember what hospitality is and doesn't seem compelled to taste their food. Never coming again - and if you care about your health and taste buds, then you shouldn't come either. read more

We went for the first time to experience a "French cafe ". Sadly, Cafe Colline failed on all fronts and we suffered the WORST meal in our memory, and we are senior citizens who lived in Europe 10 years. The Moules were badly undercooked served in a weak lemon sauce, without bread. A large piece of salmon floated atop beans in a watery concoction. The environment was similar to a low end McDonalds. The noise level high and the temperature cold. Couldn't wait to escape and was willing to overlook the 20 percent mandated tip just to escape. With all the eateries in Arlington, look elsewhere. read more

Loved it! food and service was great! Wonderful ambiance! We especially loved the salads and chicken dish- so good! easy parking

Knowledgeable staff, great wine, great French food. I was very impressed and will definitely come back.

I don't know how we have lived in Arlington for 2 years and are JUST finding this place. We have loved it so much (and its hitting my current pregnancy cravings HARD) that we have come 3 times in 2 weeks. The french onion soup is to die for. As well as both the caesar and salade maison. My husband has loved the burger, the steak frites and the tuna. I usually stick with the soup and one of the salads. One time I got the bucatini and it was VERY tasty but had more sauce than I care for. Dont know if they just went overboard that day or its the norm, but I would probably order it again and ask for just 1/2 the sauce. Its incredibly tasty but potent! We love the pots de creme for dessert! read more

This is my new favorite spot in Arlington and lucky for me it is less than half a mile from where I live! Will be back soon! read more

One of the best meals we've had! We went with high expectations having eaten at Chez Billy Sud a few times and having enjoyed that food. This was at par with that. We dropped in early for a seat at the bar. We're nice, reasonable people, but the hostess was incredibly rude. It was very clear she did not want us there over a couple interactions. Hmm, loup de mer here is basically trout amandine, but the sea bass wasnt crispy it was dripped in greasy butter and the fennel puree was scarcely a sauce with just green beans- nothing fresh cooked with lack of finesse. Long john silvers is the same half the cost and crispier . And on top that they do not tell you they charge 15%! for take out !! No wonder they dont have diners! Great food !! Very nice inside our new French place to go. Gratuity is included so I don't know if that makes for a better service or not.

Went for the 1st time last night. We sat outside but very distanced inside. This place is a revelation in a sleepy Part of Arlington. We had the escargot, salads de Masion- divine dressing, steak au poivre and bucatini. All excellent- I think it was better than Chez Billy, less fussy maybe? Our kids had the burgers which were great too! My only hesitation in rating so high is I don't want it to be impossible to get into! read more
