Love this restaurant. Menu items are well thought out and well prepared. I like the salmon, the chicken and the duck (not an easy dish to get right). I understand the beet salad is good for those who like that. Drink menu has interesting choices and wine selections are very solid. Staff is friendly and efficient. We finally tried this amazing neighborhood restaurant and were so impressed! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. Our reservation was on the later side, but we were able to dine outside (something we felt most comfortable about, due to COVID). We ordered mussels, chicken, and onion soup. The potatoes dauphin that accompanied the chicken was a real favorite: so rich and creamy. Portions were larger than I would have expected. We did save room for dessert, and I'm so glad: the chocolate hazelnut pot du creme was one of the best I've ever had and the perfect way to end an excellent meal. We will be back! read more

This is a great place for an occasional date night. The ambiance is very lively and the tables are close together. Service was very attentive, minus front desk reception, who seemed almost confused as to why we were standing in the lobby of the restaurant. We started with the goat cheese appetizer, which was lovely. The main of the bucatini was interesting but maybe a little dry. What I dream of is the desserts. The riz au lait is outstanding. Cute place in north Arlington. Food is good. Biggest issue for me is that they add gratuity to every check -- I've seen 5+ people have a gratuity added -- but we were two people. It wasn't mentioned. We didn't see it and it resulted in us adding an additional 25% - so server received 45% from us. That was a but much and I feel they this practice should only apply to larger parties or at least be more clearly called out. Will have to consider if we return. If you're an Arlington local who loves French fare, you MUST check this new restaurant out. The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere inside was cozy and intimate. Loved the modern decor too! I can definitely tell the head chef here knows what he is doing and I really look forward to coming back here to dine again. They offer brunch on Fridays and weekends too which I'm very excited to try! Our server, Adam, was very kind and accommodating, making our dining experience that more enjoyable! Love love love. I've done take out a number of times and it was great. I finally did dine in last weekend with my mom and sister and it was amazing. My salmon was probably the best salmon I've ever had. My sister loved her steak and my mom really enjoyed her salad. The sommelier recommended a delicious Pinot Noir that we'll have to have again. The environment is sweet and welcoming. If you have a celebration/special occasion, this is the place to go. The food is high end and the service is very warm. The price point is reasonable given the high quality. They're going to be popular as the world opens up post-pandemic so I'll make sure to make a reservation in the future. read more

As always, the food and service are both quite good. The restaurant is cozy and inviting and the staff exceptionally welcoming. You will not go wrong with the salads or the fish soup. Mussels are great as is the steak too. As for the hamburger / cheeseburger, while it is good, it would be better if the chefs used less cheese and a smaller / thinner hamburger bun. We are looking for a go to spot that has the trifecta of ambience, service and great wine and food. Café Colleen has two out of the three. They have a great vibe, wow the booths for two near the kitchen were so fun! Plus, the service is always good. Last night the wine was nice but unfortunately, the food kept disappointing! It was our third visit and we were bummed that it was not consistent. Our server was nice, great table and setting nice glass of wine but we didn't love our meal. So sad! The house salad with a generous amount of delicious butter lettuce was soggy last night and it was over dressed with the tarragon vinaigrette. Such a disappointment from our expectations. The beet salad was OK, but maybe because it was a Monday, veggies just weren't that fresh. I don't know! We then ordered bread to comfort us and it was not remarkable in anyway! So if you're a person who loves a restaurant with a consistently good salad and bread this is not the place for you. The salmon entree was the winner of the night! The crispy potato crust and moist salmon with those mushrooms and spinach was all divine! The sea bass was good, but my husband preferred my salmon so we shared. Loved this place! Went to celebrate my 50th birthday with my spouse after hearing & reading great reviews. We both ordered starters (one salad & one cheese plate, both fresh & delicious) and main entrees (one duck and one steak, both fantastic), and shared a chocolate hazelnut dessert. We left stuffed and completely content. The service was spot on... attentive, helpful and low-key. The ambiance was perfect too... warm, stylish, French feel yet calm and relaxing. Let me start by saying we have been to Cafe Colline 4 times prior to this incident and have truly enjoyed the food and atmosphere but this will be our last time visiting this restaurant. For the record four of us we spent close to $600 for dinner, drinks and wine on Friday evening and were treated quite poorly as a result. We arrived on time for our reservation, ordered drinks and our first course. Before the appetizers were delivered the manager, Debra, rushed over to our table and said "have you ordered your entrees yet? If not, I can take them now. Your not ready to order?"in a flippant tone. When the waiter returned with our first course we placed our entrees. By the time we got to dessert with new glasses of wine and before we finished eating the dessert the same manager rushed over with our checks. We were definitely feeling pressured to finish and leave because Debra's friends who she greeted at the door with hugs and kisses wanted the window seat table we were sitting at. If the restaurant had alerted us at the onset that we had a time limit (which they did not) it would be understandable and we would have done our best to fit within that timeframe. The four of us were parents enjoying a night out without kids and therefore were not rushing, especially when continuing to order food and drink! I then spoke to Debra, the manager, and even offered that the four of us would move to the bar. In return she was met with an uncomfortable tone and pressure. Despite incredible food we are never returning to this restaurant - you just don't treat customers who are willing to spend money this way. Finally got to try this local restaurant and was blown away! The decor is subtle and classy gold tones, dim lighting, white marble bar and kitchen counters, and dark herringbone wood floors. The service was friendly from the front of the house to the server to the cook. Most importantly, the food was impeccably crafted. I tried the potato crusted salmon (I don't normally order salmon at restaurants because I find it never wows me and I can cook it fairly easily at home), which was served with hen of the wood mushrooms, a light burre blanc lemon sauce, and wilted spinach. It was delicious. The steak frites was also a total stand out! The steak was a strip steak but ate like a filet! So tender and perfectly cooked. They managed to get an amazing crunchy sear on the outside and a tender medium rare on the inside. So impressed all around and definitely recommend a stop in to Cafe Colline. read more

"Do what you gotta do buddy." - That's what a Cafe Colline employee said to me as he handed over my take-out bag containing burgers and fries, 30 minutes after the order was promised. This is the third time Colline has been 25+ minutes late with an order. Sounds like habitual incompetence, but he blamed it on a computer problem. Right. "Do what you gotta do buddy?" I guess I gotta find another restaurant that can produce a decent, but very average greasy burger and bag o' fries. Shouldn't be that hard. read more

I was really disappointed and our waitress didn't seem to care. She was robotic and just said sorry, would you like dessert? Seriously, what makes you think I want to eat more of this disgusting food? She proceeds to give us a check adding 20% gratuity based off of the total amount INCLUDING the dishes I returned, rather than gratuity off of the actual amount charged (which excluded the returned dishes). She is entitled, sneaky and genuinely is out to get tip instead of truly caring about the patrons and the reputation of the restaurant. I asked to remove it and I still gave 15%. The staff has lost their way - doesn't remember what hospitality is and doesn't seem compelled to taste their food. Never coming again - and if you care about your health and taste buds, then you shouldn't come either. read more

I don't know how we have lived in Arlington for 2 years and are JUST finding this place. We have loved it so much (and its hitting my current pregnancy cravings HARD) that we have come 3 times in 2 weeks. The french onion soup is to die for. As well as both the caesar and salade maison. My husband has loved the burger, the steak frites and the tuna. I usually stick with the soup and one of the salads. One time I got the bucatini and it was VERY tasty but had more sauce than I care for. Dont know if they just went overboard that day or its the norm, but I would probably order it again and ask for just 1/2 the sauce. Its incredibly tasty but potent! Sadly, Cafe Colline failed on all fronts and we suffered the WORST meal in our memory, and we are senior citizens who lived in Europe 10 years. The Moules were badly undercooked served in a weak lemon sauce, without bread. A large piece of salmon floated atop beans in a watery concoction. The environment was similar to a low end McDonalds. The noise level high and the temperature cold. Couldn't wait to escape and was willing to overlook the 20 percent mandated tip just to escape. With all the eateries in Arlington, look elsewhere. read more

Hmm, loup de mer here is basically trout amandine, but the sea bass wasnt crispy it was dripped in greasy butter and the fennel puree was scarcely a sauce with just green beans- nothing fresh cooked with lack of finesse. Long john silvers is the same half the cost and crispier . And on top that they do not tell you they charge 15%! for take out !! No wonder they dont have diners! Their outdoor dining space and furniture are in rough shape and less than inviting. And to top off the experience they slip in a 20% gratuity into the check for a small table. Went for the 1st time last night. We sat outside but very distanced inside. This place is a revelation in a sleepy Part of Arlington. We had the escargot, salads de Masion- divine dressing, steak au poivre and bucatini. All excellent- I think it was better than Chez Billy, less fussy maybe? Definitely not the place to come if you're looking to enjoy time with family or friends, they want people in and out quickly and to not enjoy the experience, just want your money and be gone. Been coming here for little while, and was super disappointed with my visit recently. I was excited to bring new friends who had never been before, made a reservation(we were a few minutes late!), but we were booted from our table before we even got to eat our dessert. They said there was another reservation and we need to move and could finish our drinks at the bar (there were no bar seats available at this time), my friend suggested maybe they offer us a glass of wine on the house for kicking us off our table to which the manager just laughed. Spent $500 on dinner, just to get asked to leave our table. Unfortunately service like this, I will no longer be returning which is sad because the food is pretty yummy! We've been fans of Chez Billy for years and were extremely excited when Cafe Colline opened up in our neighborhood. It has been everything we hoped for and more. The quality of the food is up to Chez Billy standards and since the menu is lighter (Provençal style menu and bistro) and well priced we order all the time. Also worth noting is the service- Debra has been a fantastic front of house manager, helping us navigate online ordering and curbside pickup with utmost friendliness. We had a wonderful dinner last night at Cafe Colline. The service was great and we had fun with the waiters. We were able to sit at a little table on the sidewalk at a distance. My wife went ballistic over the Frisee salad with lardon. Their house made boudin sausage was really good so was the sea bass. If you go you have to try their rice pudding.
