I gave this place 5 stars mainly because it's a diamond in the rough. It's not a fancy place, and it's rather small, but it has charm and it's the ONLY decent place to eat in the area. It seems to have a "regular" crowd at the tiny bar area every time I eat there, and the food is always tasty. When it's crowded, you have to sit fairly close to other customers which is something I don't prefer, but you will be pleasantly surprised if you give this place a visit. read more

I live in the neighborhood and Blue is a good option when you just don't feel like a) cooking, b) grabbing fried chicken, bag O' salad and bread from Kings, or c) heading out to Boulder or Longmont. They do everything well enough. Burgers are good, fries/salads/sides meet expectations, service is conscientious and well-meaning. On one recent trip in after parent-teacher conferences, our server was a but awkward in her charming mispronunciation of menu items like gorgonzola and saltimboca, but her actual waitressing ability exceeded her vocabulary skillls. Best restaurant in Gunbarrel and the best authentic Cincinnati Chili, it's better than any I have had in Cincinnati (I grew up there). My co-workers and I enjoy this great lunch spot at least once a week. Love the Reuben, wraps, soups, & chili. They have a great happy hour menu too! We tried this spot out for the first time today. The interior is very nice, a little like a quiet lounge / bar combined with a cafe. We had the make-your-own burger (delicious), and several items off the Happy Hour menu (2-6 pm) -- the smoked salmon pasta was very good, the Mac and Cheese, also, and the little cod "slider" sandwiches were delicious! Our waitress was very nice and low-key, and checked on us several times. Our food did not take long, and the quiet atmosphere with light jazz music playing was absolutely perfect for us! Happy to have discovered this little spot in Gunbarrel. We will definitely be back. read more

Nice ambiance, appropriate for a slightly upscale or casual-romantic meal. I had the mussels, an appetizer plenty large enough for a full meal. Also tried the shrimp Po' Boy sandwich. Both were great. A few beers local beers are on tap and the wine selection is varied and appealing. Went there with my young kids, and to my surprise (given the ambiance), they were welcomed and well fed from a fantastic children's menu. (My daughter's pasta may have been the best dish on our table!) A pleasant surprise to find such a nice restaurant nestled in the same shopping center as a grocery store, gas station and Burger King. My wife and I and our two boys ate here for lunch on a Monday. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was very tasty. My wife and oldest son had the pulled pork sandwich special which they both enjoyed and had the Reuben sandwich which was also very good. Unfortunately, their kids menu wasn't as friendly for a picky eater like my 8 year old. In addition, the guys was a bit pricier than most other restaurants that I've been to that were shown as 2 dollar signs on the Yelp scale. This is the best place to eat in Gunbarrel hands down. I thought i was out of luck for food in this town (aside from an over priced sub at snarfs). Cafe Blue has a great environment, amazing seafood selection and great happy hour. i eat at restaurants all over the country due to traveling for work, and i must say that this place has everything i hope to see when looking at menus. The best food in Gunbarrel,and I've lived in that area for 18 years. The owners really add their personal touch to your visits,and it's always a perfect meal. Always order the special of the day,especially if you like fish. The bar is a little too small , because it can be hard to get a front row seat. read more

I try it every few months as there are few options in the area. Food still OK to Not Bad, service about the same. Main complaint is that they have no real vegetarian menu at dinner. I asked the waiter if I could substitute portebella as they had it on the lunch menu but was refused. Not sure if they are trying to be a bistro or bar/restaurant. SOOOO good. I went here for a work lunch and went back the next week for more. The food is healthy and delicious. The environment is quiet and darker. The sides are as big as meals at most places. As with lots of restaurants, this is a hit and miss. Ask your server what they like, what is popular on the menu. Stay away from the firecracker shrimp at $11. Six small boiled shrimp covered in buffalo sauce. MEH. The chicken piccata I ordered was nothing to write home about. Where was the lemon? We have been looking for somewhere local to eat that will set a good standard. The service was fantastic, but we found the food to be overpriced for its quality. My fiancé had the hamburger, which was overcooked and greasy. My club sandwich was an interesting experience. The meet was on the sandwich, and The bread was toasted, but the rest of the club was on the side as a garnish. There was one very small piece of lettuce for the entire sandwich, and two thin slices of tomato. The sandwich lacked taste and was incredibly greasy... I was looking for a place to find a good burger to take to work. I decided to come here and get the California Burger. When I came in the front door I was greeted by the husband and wife that operated the establishment. They were very funny and sarcastic. Someone had drew on the back of the lead chef and I had a good laugh. When it came to the food, I got an enormous helping of fries and the burger was cooked to perfection. Don't go, we got food poisoning! I would give no stars if I could! We actually ended up in the hospital during our vacation. To top it off the food was not even good. Horrible.... I ordered a burger and a beer for $20.00(total rip off) half way threw my meal I looked up and saw one of the cooks pick his nose and eat it ruined my meal and appetite for the rest of the day. I took my family on a weekend getaway to Boulder Colorado. We stayed in North Boulder Colorado and a very nice Hampton Inn. I used my yelp app to look for nearby restaurants. My family and I walked from the Hampton Inn to the café. It was in a shopping center but easy to fine. The restaurant was busy but we were seated easily. The staff and the wine list were incredible. We ordered appetizers and then dinner. I had the tuna, which was on the daily special, it was delicious. My oldest daughter and a gnocchi dish that was splendid. My other daughter had the blackened salmon on top of risotto she asked for no vegetables and they able to accommodated her with no problems. Her dish was great. My wife had a chicken and pasta dish that she loved. This restaurant exceeded all of our expectations and I would highly recommend it. The prices are moderately priced, it was a good value for what we received. Thanks to the staff and owners of the restaurant we had a wonderful time. read more

Decent american cuisine - convenient for Gunbarrel - I agree with some reviews that say the back area should be more closed off to preserve the ambience but it is a smaller resturaunt so tight quarters can do this - The food I've had has always been good (Chiken Saltimbocca like a mofo!) but is a little pricier than one would expect (gotta keep the lights on I suppose) - Never kept waiting and never left unhappy read more
