First off when was the last time you received a Christmas card signed by all the employees? When you arrived at the business. I walked through the door and was greeted by the warmest welcome ever. Thank you for that. I had 2 blueberry pancakes and did not have to ask for more butter, scrambled eggs/cheddar and German sausage, with side of the green chile, coffee, OJ water. A beyond 5 stars for service! 10 of us waltzed in from the street and we were greeted like we were long-lost relatives. The entire waitstaff was amazing. Food was good! It's a 'mom & pop' type diner. I had the 1/2 biscuit and gravy and it was tasty. My bacon was a little overdone for my liking, but the flavor was impeccable. No one at our table left an empty plate. My aunt got the French toast. This place is a diner, you get diner food. It's decent and consistent, and we enjoy coming here. My review is about one of the waitresses. She has a very "what do you want" attitude and is never welcoming (unlike the other gals here). My biggest complaint though- she is always bad mouthing a customer or a coworker. She sits in the booth by the bathroom (stuffing her face and licking her fingers during service) or she stands over there and talks super loud about a customer that bothered her or something that one of her coworkers did. She talks loud enough for everyone in the restaurant to hear her. She's tacky and off putting. It doesn't matter if you're working in a diner or a fancy fine dining restaurant, have some freaking respect.. for yourself and the establishment you are representing. read more

I didn't know I was going to get breakfast and a show... people were yelling... management and employees were yelling and crying... maybe in the future take the conversation outside. Good authentic diner experience. I had the Western omelette (Denver omelette) with a side of green chili. Service was great. I would say better than most diners. Front desk was kind and waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu, which made ordering easy. After a hard work out at Gold's gym, I decided I wanted to steak and eggs for breakfast. Not many steak houses in longmont, but I found this gem of a diner. I got the 8oz New York strip steak with over medium eggs and crispy hash browns. I was damn delighted! Stopped in at Janie's Cafe early one Friday morning for breakfast. Apparently I arrived before the "locals rush" started. The place was almost empty when I arrived - but within 15 minutes a wave of locals, mostly older folks - who the wait staff knew on a first name basis - began to filter in. I ordered one of their skillets - a dish with Chorizo, eggs, potatoes, and cheese. Plus coffee and water. Overall, a tasty dish. However, and I pointed this out to my server when I was paying my bill - the amount of Chorizo in the dish was embarrassingly skimpy. They should be embarrassed to advertise Chorizo in the dish - assuming the amount they gave me (4 small pieces) is what they give everyone. Also - please note - they do not accept the American Express credit card. I had no cash on me - I had to go walk down the street, and around the corner - to a Bank ATM - to get cash to pay for breakfast - the ATM, incidentally, adds another $3.00 to the cost of breakfast, due to the ATM usage fee. I visit Longmont twice a year, I've frequented diners all over the USA, I appreciate hard working people who get up at the wee hours to prep for the days business . Janies was established by Janie 18 years ago after she decided to stop waiting tables and open her own Cafe. Janie's granddaughter served me today, she didn't know I was a Elite Yelper. She greeted me with a friendly smile, took my order exactly like I wanted it. I ordered the works omelette, 4 eggs and bacon and sausage and hash browns. Everything was cooked to perfection, has browns one side browned crisp....mmm. The diner was so packed I was lucky to get a small table wayyyyy in the back. All the staff, fighting to give me more coffee and water. Lots of staff I think 15, some serious folks who made me feel like I was the only customer. Like the cashier told me they are all family. I stopped in for breakfast on a Thursday morning to find it busy with septa- and octogenarians enjoying their morning meal, while stopping to chat with friends at neighboring tables. The staff was attentive and friendly, addressing you with the familiarity of an old acquaintance. The food is similarly comforting, large portions of classic offerings and some not so classic, including an overstuffed breakfast burrito, smothered in the most delicious, porky chili. The very archetype of a downtown, smallish-town cafe or diner. Quick, easy, no-frills, cheap, and reliable. Expect huge portions, sticky tables, and silly rules such as "no poached eggs or waffles after 11 AM," but also a lunch menu that appears at 11 AM and plays nicely with most of the breakfast items on the menu. Definitely a locals-type place on Main in Downtown Longmont, with decent coffee and efficient service. Beats the socks off of any chain place, and you don't have to worry about waiting too long for your food or for your coffee to be topped up. This is a "turn and burn" type of place, but you also won't get dirty looks for lingering over your coffee, as long as there isn't a wait. Don't miss the MAHOOSIVE cinnamon roll on the breakfast menu; my cinnamon roll aficionado of a husband went gaga for its doughy, yeasty breadiness combined with layers upon layers of cinnamon filling, with the perfect amount of not-too-sicky-sweet frosting. If you're a green chile fan, which describes me to a "T," try out their green chile-related offerings, or just get a cup on the side. It won't impress your need for spice, but it sure is flavorful, pork-ful, and delicious. I had the Huevos Rancheros (no cheese), and opted for my eggs poached, served atop a big flour tortilla and smothered in the good stuff. I had the potatoes and beans on the side, along with another tortilla, but their MO is to serve the beans and rice and potatoes mixed in with everything. We also enjoyed the breakfast skillet, which itself included another healthy serving of the green chile! The breakfast burrito was also tasty and legit huge - stuffed with eggs, potatoes, cheese, and smothered in your choice of red or green sauce. Definitely a belly bomb and so good.
