Carnitas plate, that mashed pinto beans were a thick paste.

There are quite a few of Mexican restaurants in Longmont. I rated Tacos Don Jose average, there are better and there are also not as good Mexican restaurants in the same town. Recently I tried their barbacoa and carnitas plate. Both tasted okay but not outstanding. The corn tortillas were a little chewy, may be because they were reheated in an microwave. One time the mashed pinto beans were very thick like a stiff paste. The green and red chili were good, perhaps I should have ordered smothered burrito instead. Their service also tends to be slow. One time I ordered take out, there were 4 parties in front of me in line and it took 20 minutes from getting in line to receiving my food.

Ordered three of the tamales for lunch today and was pretty disappointed. They were so dry they were crispy and very small. Thin too. Good flavor though! Hoping it was just a bad batch and they're not always so thin.

yummy and authentic Mexican food! They were packed full but even then it did take a hot minute to get our food, once we did it was worth the wait. everything was delicious especially the beans and rice, they didn't taste like they'd been sitting like some Mexican restaurants. Definitely will come back

Got tres tacos; carnitas, lengua, and asada... Delicious and totally authentic. Served in fresh double corn tortillas w plenty of cilantro and onion, and a nice generous lime wedge. Both rojo and verde house salsas were quite tasty as well

They have other amazing drinks these are my favorite two.

We have been going here for a few years now. It's always delicious hot and ready. They speak English and Spanish not just Spanish. They're always friendly. You can order and pick up. The restaurant is clean and big with a lot of seating bathrooms are clean as well. I like this place and will be coming back.

I have searched and searched for a "legit" relleno; a roasted poblano pepper stuffed with mild white cheese and fried crispy in an egg batter. No wonton shells, no anaheim chiles, no cheddar cheese. Tacos Don Jose has exactly that, and it's perfect!!! I also tried the chicken sopa and an asada taco- yum!!! The sopa was piled high with wonderful things like avocado and crisp lettuce, while the taco was simply topped with onion, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime- exactly like you'd find in Mexico. SO SO SO GOOD! It's making me drool just thinking about it! My husband had the smothered burrito and a taco al pastor and both of those were excellent as well. We were the only gringos in there, but we had our 7 month old daughter with us who likes to make lots of friends and everyone was happy to return her smile and wave. Service was excellent, particularly for a place where you order at the counter. Definitely worth a stop!

If I had someone to be my designated driver I would have had the 2 for 1 margaritas which is a Monday special. The restaurant interior was bright and funky! There are tables and booths available. The bar area has an extensive selection of tequila. I've seen bottles that I've never seen before. Our server was so friendly and extremely attentive. Both our drinks and food were served in a timely manner. I ordered the Horchata and it was delicious! I ordered the chicken fajitas for lunch and the portion was huge! I was definitely able to take some home. The food tasted so fresh. In addition to the 2 for margaritas on Monday, I am so impressed by the number of daily specials this restaurant has. Other specials include $3 taco Tuesdays, 2 for 1 Mezcalitos on Wednesdays and 2 for 1 cocktails on Thursdays for the ladies. There is also a Happy Hour which includes discount margaritas and $3 tacos. There is plenty of free parking.

I was in Longmont for the home and garden show and I was hungry so this was my opportunity to give Rosa's Cantina a try. They were very busy but I was greeted and seated promptly. The place is nice and they have a lot of seating and a patio but too cold that day for outdoor dining. I ordered the Burrito Tijuana which looked to be a good choice based on the menu description. The burrito was very good with a generous portion of steak. The chili smothering the buritto was flavorful but not very spicy. I wish they provided a little more pico salsa on the side, there was probably a teaspoon of pico. I enjoyed the buritto, it was sizeable, flavorful but not spicy enough for my taste buds. The server was good, she was attentive and pleasant. The place was clean, prices were reasonable, service was good as well as the food. Would I go back ? I might go back if the planets align but I wouldn't make a special trip. My only real letdowns were the shortage of pico and they don't offer free chips and salsa. I've come to expect and appreciate Mexican restaurants who still offer free chips and salsa.

When looking at the menu, the prices were outrageous, but thought the food must be really good! The restaurant doors were locked when we arrived around 11:30, even though their website said they opened at 10:00. I like to support local restaurants but this one was horribly disappointing! We were the only customers in the restaurant and service was extremely slow. There was only one employee we saw, the one who unlocked the door for us and turned out to be our waitress. She was polite, but very slow in getting our drink order, food order, and ticket. I could have understood understaffing, but as mentioned, we were the only customers in the place. When our food came, I was almost embarrassed for our waitress. The food hardly filled our plates. I ordered a chicken dish where the chicken breast had been split in half. It was tough and hard to cut and and chew. It was maybe the size of a small burger, very small and about 1/4 of an inch thick! According to the menu description, it was supposed to be marinated. It tasted like the "marinade" was ketchup mixed with a little Tabasco. Other plates were very skimpy on food. Burritos and enchiladas were small and almost almost laid flat on the plates. I guess I could deal with it better if the cost was about ¼ of the price we paid. No drinks for 4 totaled, with tip, around $80.00!! Will never go to this place again! I typically don't do reviews but this experience was completely "over the top" bad in all areas. We all left feeling cheated, and hungry! Don't waste your money here!
