I truly enjoyed my meal here. We arrived at 7:00 am and wanted a hearty meal before our flight. We ended up sitting at the bar and had a good experience. The bar tender was friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. She was quick to offer a drink and food recommendations. The menu is definitely different than their downtown locations, but still a decent selection of items. I had the kimchi fried rice. It was very good. We had some black coffee and that actually really good as well. The only downside was that we came during a huge rush and the hostess was less than thrilled about her job. She wasn't necessarily rude, but was definitely feeling the Monday blues. read more

Had breakfast here with my son before our flight out. The restaurant is pretty roomy with a good amount of seating. Service was great. Our server was really friendly. I ordered the avocado toast .. the avocado smash was delicious but the toast was on the burnt side so after a couple bites I just ate the topping. My son had the bacon and avocado omelet that came with country potatoes and 2 sliced bread with jam. He liked his omelet and country potatoes but his bread was on the hard side. He also added a side of sausage and said that was a bit burnt so he only ate 1 piece out of 2. We also shared a stack of pancakes and those were delicious! Fluffy and the syrup was not too sweet! One star for the hostess with the red ponytails all over her head. Super rude and unfriendly. No eye contact and looking pissed off. Maybe find a new job if you can't even greet patrons kindly. 3 starts for the server. She was busy (but it really wasn't that busy in there. Many open tables). No offer for condiments or a check in. 2 stars for food. 2 egg breakfast scrambled. Add sausage patties...... maybe they're made in house but this was a joke. Charred burnt and pink inside. Couldn't taste anything but burn and fennel. Pretty much flavorless breakfast. Not good at all. Def won't be back. Get rid of the rude hostess with the red hair! Had a 1.5 hour layover on a Sunday night at the Sacramento Airport. The food options were pretty much this place or Wendy's or a Sourdough Sandwich shop. The other places that sell hot food were all closed. I wanted to try the sourdough sando place but was voted down by my teenager. I don't like Wendy's. So, Cafe Bernardo it was. The giant windows around sundown make sitting on half the seats an uncomfortable blinding experience. Can they not put up something to block the sun? Well, we were moved to another table, one of the few left that were out of the sun. Our waitress seemed crabby I asked for the burger without cheese or sauce. She brought me one with both. I asked for a new one. It came out so sad looking. The bun was collapsed. I looked around, and all the other burgers looked like this. They served it with lettuce. It was the tiniest piece. It didn't seem like iceberg lettuce. The tomato was cut so thinly that they're either filming one of those Cutco knife commercials or they are using a truffle shaver on the thinnest setting. The onions were similarly lackluster. The fries were cold. The waitress dropped off the food. Didn't offer to bring ketchup. I found a bottle on an abandoned table. The sodas weren't refilled and neither was the water. My daughter ordered the flat iron steak over fried rice. The rice looked sad. The steak was overcooked. She ordered medium rare and it came out medium well. They covered it in onions and flower petals. Made no sense to me. As much I detest Wendy's, I'd rather go there if I'm stuck at this airport or force my kid to go the sourdough sando route. Maybe they do breakfast better but I doubt it. They don't seem to care because you're a captive audience. Wendy's had a long line. read more

As one reviewer pointed out, if you have time to sit down and eat, this is as good a place as any here in Sacramento Airport. It's located near Gate 11. I stood in line for only a short time, although there always seems to be a line of people waiting to eat. I ordered an iced tea and the waitress brought it promptly with sweeteners. I settled on the $18 chopped salad, that is served with grilled chicken and assorted greens. It was tasty and more than enough for one person. Some people might not like the little chunky bits of bacon, but I think they add bursts of flavor. My waitress was Kristina. She was very good, very busy but attentive. As a former waiter, I always find pleasure in watching good servers at work. Seating is varied, with some seating at the bar, on a cushy padded bench, and on short tables and chairs. Word of caution: Breakfast ends at 10:30. It says it on the menu, but some people don't read. read more

Cafe Bernardo is finally opened inside Terminal B on the Alaska Airline side next to the Wendy's. They have a dining area for those who have time and would like to be served and not grab and go. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes $12.99 only comes with 3 pancakes nothing else side are sold individually. I got my food to go. I could feel thought contained my food was cooked fresh and the container was pipping hot. Here is where I got annoyed. 1 out of the 3 pancakes was burnt and of course they were slick and placed in on the bottom of the other pancakes. That was foul. So I was only able to enjoy 2 of my pancakes. The service was nothing special as they have a self serve kiosk for those who what to order to go or you can order with the cashier. I will give them a solid 3 stars as they just opened and I hope the get better with time. read more

*** Vegetarian Review *** Starbucks is under construction and totally disappeared. So getting the usual Impossible Breakfast Sandwich isn't an option right now. But Cafe Bernardo was a great substitute teacher. Probably $11 more than the Starbucks option, but if you're looking for a hot, quick vegetarian meal to go, I recommend this place. For the locals that frequent the many Cafe Bs in town, this breakfast burrito isn't like the one served in the restaurant. You can pick this one up and the potatoes are inside. Breakfast Burrito ($16.99, Grade A) - Scrambled eggs, black beans, Monterey jack cheese, and crispy potatoes. Make sure to ask for the chipotle salsa and sour cream on the side or this can get really messy. They cut it in half so easily shareable. My only issue is if the menu says "crispy potatoes," I should hear those potatoes crunch. These aren't crispy. They are better than their normal herbed potatoes, but they aren't crispy at all. With all that said, as long as my cheaper Starbucks option isn't here, this breakfast burrito is a great alternative. read more

This place is as slow at the restaurant it replace. Ordered a salad and ice tea. Waitress gave me water, no big deal. I waited 45 minutes for a Cobb like salad. The salad was small and nothing special. Waitress asked me if I wanted another water, when she was holding a tray of waters, I said sure and she walked away never to be seen again. This is a solid two star review. Solid because the server, Lisa, was great. Other than that, not so much. The Turkey Bacon Avocado was supposed to be on Ciabatta but they failed to state they were out when the order was placed and the turkey was just deli meat and on a hamburger bun. They tried to make amends with a slice of their carrot cake which was a nice effort but maybe should have warned me. Their beer tap wasn't working either. Seems like they have several bugs to work out. The hostess didn't really smile when seating any of the customers when I was there but maybe she was having a bad day. What a disappointment and nothing like their other locations. It was almost 15 mins before we got our water and coffee. And while we were asked if we had 25-30 mins before our flight (which we did), it took almost 45 mins to get our food, leaving us 10 mins to eat. The avo toast was so hard I couldn't cut it and even chewing it was difficult (I don't know how bread even gets that tough?) and my husband's toast was the same. In the end, I had to interrupt two staff chatting behind the counter for a to-go box because our flight was loading and the server was taking too long to bring the container. The open design is lovely, so let's hope someone brings in better management for improved food quality and (and oh so important) timed service. read more

To start off, we waited 30 minutes to get a seat, not because it was crowded, but because the kitchen couldn't handle the 3 families eating and they were so backed up that they stopped taking people in for half an hour to "regroup". When we finally got a seat, it took 10 minutes to get our waters, and after much confusion with our order and a lot more waiting, we got our food. One dish was good, 2 were fine, but my pasta was so undercooked that if I closed my eyes I would think I was eating uncooked pasta dough. To top it off, the servings were not nearly large enough to justify the price tag.
