I have never been to Woodland. Came here for free flower picking and walked around downtown after. Saw the Savory Cafe and decided to give them a try. They were fairly busy but we were greeted immediately upon entry. Everyone working was friendly and helpful. They had a Nice menu selection and made substitutions without question. We received our food within a reasonable time and it was flavorful. Interior temperature was comfortable and it was very clean. Well, I had a sense that I had been there before. And, in fact, I did and I left a review. And as it turns out, I ordered the very same thing. And you know what? I have the very same comments. Definitely not traditional huevos rancheros, but still quite good. I did order the bacon add-on, which, for some reason was integrated into the huevos rancheros in pieces, as opposed to being on the side. That may just have been my misunderstanding. Still good. Vibe is the same. Service is superb. Wow! Our waitress was absolutely lovely. On street parking, early in the morning. It's super easy. Downtown Woodland is a fun place to walk around. Delicious house fresh brewed Monster Italian coffee with free refills. The Savory breakfast is served with Pasture 42 Ranch eggs with yolks that are bright orange which indicates free range chickens. The house made chorizo was crispy and crumbly, not sure I like the way it's served on my plate. I ordered the English muffin that comes with the Manas Ranch Jam. The jam flavor today was strawberry but they also sell jars of the peach & cinnamon, mango apple, and just peach. Delilah was an excellent server. Very friendly and efficient. And quickly brought a water to me without asking, I liked that. I've never been so disappointed in a meal/ breakfast as I was today at Savory Cafe. I took my son and his family to breakfast today. My over easy eggs were of the lowest possible quality that you could imagine. The color of the yolks were more white than yellow and neither of them had a runniest to them, cooked way too much for over easy. The potato were burnt to the max, and get this for this price you now get one piece of toast. My Grandson ordered a kids hamburger, the hamburger itself was kids size and the bun was for a regular size hamburger, so there was an inch of bun all the way around it with no meat. My Granddaughter wouldn't even finish her waffles because she said they had no taste. Come on, who can you mess up waffles. All of this for $140.00. We came for Mother's Day brunch and it was chaotic and the service was poor, so we left, thinking it was a one off due to how busy it was. We came in today for breakfast and were immediately seated. Long story short, I had to go up to get my own coffee refill, and waited an hour and 10 minutes before someone came to tell me it would be "a little longer" for our food. I just ordered the worst Avocado Toast with eggs. I have been coming to Savory for a long time, so this is so disappointing to have to write this. 1) the eggs were supposed to be soft scrambled eggs. They were fried then chopped up... disgusting! 2) then there was no real avocado on the non toasted bread. There was no more than a tablespoon of some type of avocado mash in possibly a mayonnaise sauce. Uck!!! 3) it cost me $21 !!! $15 for the toast and $6 for the eggs 4) I would like to acknowledge Jessica our waitress for trying to salvage the disaster. She was awesome! The only reason why I gave this business 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have had weird and unfavorable experiences in the past. Additionally, they make you stand at the front and wait for them to seat you even when their are only 4 tables seated with more than 20 open and empty tables. I understand there were two service staff but for one person to have to wait 3-5 minutes standing at the front while the business is clearly not busy is not ideal in my opinion. Having said that, the biscuits and gravy is impressive. The gravy is clearly higher quality than most, biscuits were warm and fluffy. The eggs weren't over cooked and the entire dish tasted like it was made from scratch which is much appreciated. Best biscuits and gravy in Woodland, CA so far. read more

The first time I went I had the chicken and waffles those were really good. Went again and had the French toast and herb potatoes with bacon. Wasn't a fan of the bacon at all, wasn't good couldn't even explain exactly why is wasn't good but you can look at the picture and I think it would explain for its self. This was my first time at Savory. My husband had been here before and enjoyed the food. We brought some visiting family for breakfast and we were seated quickly. Our waitress Elizabeth was fabulous! She had a great sense of humor and she took great care of us. There were 5 of us. A couple of dishes took a little longer but the food was good and there was plenty. There were some new staff being trained but everyone was working together to take care of us. There were a couple of other items on the menu I would like to try next time we are here. Located in the heart of downtown Woodland, the restaurant has a nice exterior that is outshined by the impressive farmhouse themed interior. Upon walking in we were warmly greeted by a waitress and they prepared a table for us quickly. Upon ordering our food the waitress informed us there was only one chef in the kitchen and they were finishing up the dishes for a private party so our meal would take a bit longer. Really appreciated the transparency and they didn't even take long. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, the Breakfast Sandwich, and the Eggs Benedict. All dishes were delicious. The potatoes were a highlight, crispy outside, soft inside, and amazing flavor. Only complaint is that the Chicken Fried Steak itself was rather small, and felt like it wasn't the star of its own plate. Once you school the kitchen on how to execute your perfect poached eggs they are fairly consistent. My husband and I had breakfast there about 4 times on this business trip to UC Davis. If you order pancakes or French toast it comes with bacon and 2 eggs, I didn't want the 2 eggs but you still have to pay for them. They didn't remove them from the bill. We found this place driving through woodland. It took a bit for us the get acknowledge at the hostess booth. Once we were seated, our waitress was very attentive.
